11-21-06: Cornell @ Army
Army Bombs Big Red, 76-46
Army opens up a two game week by hosting the Cornell Big Red from the Ivy League. This is the first of two straight games against teams from the Ivy League with the second one coming on Saturday on the road against Brown University.
First Half
Cornell's Gore sinks a short jumper then Army goes on a 14-4 run behind the hot shooting of Jarell Brown. After Bates tips in an offensive rebound, the Black Knights lead by 10, 16-6, with 14:30 remaining. Bell hits 3 of 4 free throws before the Big Red gets baskets from Gore and Hartford. A 15-footer by Bell and a short runner by Bates is followed by a jumper by Hartford in the paint as Army now leads by 11, 23-12, halfway through the first half. Brown leads Army in a 6-0 run then after the teams trade baskets, the Black Knights boost the lead to 17, 31-14 with 5:00 left. Cornell continues to be ice cold from the floor and Thompson leads Army on a 9-2 run to finish the half and increase the lead to 24 at halftime. Army's Brown leads all scorers at the half with 14 points while Hartford and Gore both led the Big Red with 4 points each.
Second Half
Coach Knight sends in the reserves for Army to start the second half and Cornell begins to chip away at the lead. The Big Red go on an 11-4 run behind the shooting of Wittman. After Brewer sinks a jumper from the free throw line, the Black Knights lead is now 19, 46-27, with 15:00 remaining. The teams are trading baskets and after Wittman hits a 3-pointer, Army's lead decreases by one to 18, 53-35, midway through the second half. Both teams continue to pick up the pace and are trading baskets then Carter and Thompson both sink 3-pointers for Army to push the Black Knights' lead back up to 23, 64-41, with just under 5:00 left. The Black Knights continue to stay hot as they continue their 15-2 run then the teams end the game by trading 3-pointers.

Re: Stats thru 4 games
I've been a fan since the days of Ernie D and Marvin Barnes. Dave Gavitt was the coach back then.
I live in the town of Barrington, RI. It is about 20-25 minutes from the PC campus.
Who knows, maybe the game may have me asked to go to PC instead of me waiting for Indiana to call. (I'm going to try to retrace Bob Knight's career, if possible)
I go there right now, probably transferring at the end of the year, but the b-ball games are good times.
Go to any of them, or just watch from afar?
And still, very nice dynasty you have. Like the tables and information.Comment

Re: Stats thru 4 games
I watch them at home when I can. I haven't been to a game in a few years. I think the last time was back either 2001 or 2002 against the rival URI Rams.
One of my bowling buddies has season tickets. Most of the nights that PC plays are either my bowling nights or I am at work (which I am now).
The format for the game results (stats) I picked up from espn.com and the team stats I picked up from the Army's athletics site.If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment

11-28-06 : VMI @ Army
Army beats Keydets Behind Brown, 70-51
West Point, NY -- The Virginia Military Institute Keydets come into the Christl Arena to take on the Army Black Knights. The Black Knights will be without the services of PG Cory Sinning due to a sore hamstring.
First Half
The Jarell Brown show continues from the last game as he sinks a jumper to start the game. After Murrer puts in a 3-pointer, the teams trade baskets before Army goes on a 12-2 with all of the Black Knights' points being scored by Brown. After he hits his third straight 3-pointer, Army is up by 9, 16-7, with 15:00 remaining. The teams are trading basket for basket and after a jumper by Brown, the Black Knights lead by 11, 25-14, with a little over halfway gone in the half. Reggie Williams hits a couple of 3-pointers in leading VMI on an 8-2 run before Matt Bell stops it by sinking a 3-pointer of his own. The teams trade baskets then Bell sinks a short runner and Jackson puts in a couple of layups to give Army a 12 point lead, 36-24, with 4:30 left. The teams struggle as we near the end of the first half and after Brown banks in a jumper with 30 seconds to go, the Black Knights take an 11 point lead into halftime. Army's Brown leads all scorers with 28 points while Williams leads VMI with 10.
Second Half
Murrer leads the Keydets on a 7-0 run to begin the second half then Sewell sinks a short hook shot and banks in a fallaway jumper. A dunk by Jarman and a short runner by Chavis Holmes cuts the Army lead to 4, 45-41, with 15:00 remaining. Bell leads the Black Knights on an 8-2 run to rebuild the lead. After Williams and Brown trade jumpers, Army is back up by 10, 55-45, midway through the second half. The teams begin to struggle but the Black Knights, led by Brown, are able to go on an 8-0 run to bust open the game and builds the Army lead up to 18, 63-45, with 5:00 left. The teams are trading baskets and Travis Holmes slams one home with only a few seconds to go to end the game.
