Coach's Notes

• Totally embarrassed on the boards. Outrebounded 18-4 on offensive glass. TTU pressed us well into the last minute of the game. Poor form. I will remember this.

• I'm glad I got the first 'Deer in Headlights' game out of the way.

• Catchings ineffective as he is injured.

• We have a week to rest up. 7 days of defensive drills.

After edging out Tenn. Tech, EIU gets crushed by Tenn. State, one of the top teams in the conference (Murray State being another one).

The week off will give the team enough time to regroup and get back to contending for the OVC title.

The format is pretty good from a coach's view standpoint, short but sweet, with a couple of notes for the coach to point out at the next practice.

Coach's Notes

• Challenged EKU to shoot the three. Rose was playing injured. The plan worked. We stayed in 2-3 Zone the entire game. Rose finished 4-27 and was 4-23 from the arc.

• Romain Martin was cold early(I chalk it up to his first ever start) but ended up going 5/12 from 3 point land. Julio Anthony was on fire at one point hitting 3 in a row to go 4/9 from 3 point land in the game. Parrish hit a ridiculous 30 footer and finished 2/3 from beyond the arc.

• Four players in double figures. Only Cisse and Byrne did not score.

• Brock is continuing to look impressive. In limited minutes he is grabbing rebounds and is a very good defender.

• Playing catch-up sucks. Heartbreaker of a game. The score was 86-85 them with 3 minutes left. Wasted opportunities off steals throwing the ball away.

Coach's Notes

• Much better rebounding job. Jolliff had a career high 11 rbs.

• Romain and Julio combined for 50 points. 4 players in double figures, one being Justin Brock, who scored a career high 15. Cisse had a career high 16 point game. Julio had a season high 7 assists.

• Game was much closer than the score appears, at least for a while. We went 7:21 without a field goal in the first half and they climbed within 4. After going up big again they come back again and get within 4, 64-61. At that point I called for man to man d, double teamed #1 and #30, and pressed them with a 2-2-1 Zone. It worked.

• The gameplan was to keep the ball away from Witherspoon. He had 2 points at halftime and finished with 12.

• Reduced minutes since Bobby Catching's injury has not let it bother him. The last two games he has been hitting brutal, dagger, run-stopping three pointers. He had two of them today. Teams forget about him.

• Julio Anthony was 6/10 from beyond the arc. It seems when we struggle from the three point line we don't win very many games.

• After Realizing Perry had 24 points I switched us to man-man, double teamed him and held him to 4 points the rest of the way. I made a stupid mistake by sending in all my reserves in with 6:00 left and up by 20. The Redhawks went on a furious comeback to get within 8 and I had to send my starters back in to clean up the mess that I made.

• The Redhawks played a really, really fast up-tempo game. We were getting burned quite often on missed shots, even when I pulled our guys off the boards almost completely.

• If it wasn't for our 17-4 run at the end of the first half, it would proabably be a different game.

• Very slow, methodical game.

• Tried to take Babington out of his long range game(86 3PT). He was 4-18 from beyond the arc.

• No one on either team shot very well. Only exceptions were K. Duncan (7-8) and M. Robinson(5-6, 14 pts)

• The difference in this game was Free Throws. As a team we were 13-13 from the line. Austin Peay was 5-9.

• Despite poor shooting from Romain Martin(6-20), he hit 3 point dagger with 30 seconds left to keep the game out of reach from the Governors.

• Up next is Tennessee-Martin, who is 6-1(1st) in the conference. No more three game weeks, thank god.

Coach's Notes

• Gameplan was to limit Pruitt's touches. Though he went 3-9 from beyond the arc which is not bad, he was 3-12 for all fgs.

• Used a 19-6 half ending run to go up 36-27.

• Their 2-3 Matchup Zone really gave us problems.

• Brock had another stellar game off the bench. 10 points and 8 rbs in 13 minutes. Willhite also had a good game, scoring 8 points, mostly from fast breaks.

• Cisse continues to have great games above the rim. His rebounding average on the season is up over 10 now. His ppg is also steadily on the rise.

• Lowly Eastern Kentucky is next, followed by a tough week: Tennessee Tech and Tennessee St. I am looking forward to the T. State game. We are a different since that big loss.

• This win puts us at the top of the conference with TMU.

Coach's Notes

• Very, very proud of my team tonight. Way to respond!

• Switched up the starting line up. Glad I did. Catchings responded to his benching by putting up 20 points, his best game since his injury. Romain Martin, in the starting line up for the first time in a few games, had his second best scoring night of the season. Cisse with 15 rebounds also had a monster of a game.

• TTU threw all kinds of zone defenses at us to start with, but we broke them all down. We saw 1-3-1 Match Up, 2-3 Zone, 1-1-3 Zone, and 1-2-2 Zone all in the first half. They finally settled on 1-2-2 Zone and Man.

• We stayed in man defense the whole game and double teamed McKenzie.

• It should also be noted that we executed our first alley-oop dunk in the game. Robinson to Catchings.
