I don't want to look too far ahead, but if we don't win the conference tourney this year I fully expect us to be in the NIT.
Congratulations on the 20 victories! Eastern Illinois didn't give you an abundance of talent to work with.

It's an interesting point you bring up about the NIT. I know that first place teams like Tennessee St would be guaranteed a spot. I'm not sure about a team that ties for first like Jacksonville St, though. Eventhough you finished only one game behind, it may depend heavily on your team's RPI. Do you know what the RPI is?

Regardless, here's hoping you win the conference tourney and make the question moot.

      EIU's RPI is 109.

          Coach's Notes
          • I am extremely upset with the way my guys played tonight. Romain Martin(1-12) and Julio Anthony(3-13) really dropped the ball.
          • The game was actually a little bit closer than the score implies, but I gave up on my guys with about 3 minutes left down by 11. They just were not showing me that they wanted to win the game.
          • Bobby Jolliff is probably going to transfer. I don't blame him, but he really didn't show me much when he had the opportunity to play more.

            They're In!

Charleston, Ill- The Eastern Illinois University campus exploded in cheers Sunday night when it found out they would be facing #6 seeded Hawaii as a #11 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Noted atop the Bubble Watch list throughout the entire night, they had to wait well into the ESPN broadcast to find out their fate. "I really had no idea the committee was even considering us until I got a phone call from our A.D" Coach McGurk said. "It really came as a big surprise, and I am extremely happy we made it in. I guess we'll have to throw away our NIT preparation plans out." Also making it into the NCAA tournament with an automatic bid was Jacksonville State as a #13 seed who will face #4 seed Arizona in the same San Antonio Regional.

                Coach's Notes

                • Despite the loss, I think we ended our season on a high note. I am proud of the way my guys handled this tension filled exciting game. We did what we needed to do to win this game, we just fell a little short.
                • Romain Martin and Julio Anthony made it interesting until the very end. Down by 5 with 23 seconds to go, Anthony drove to the bucket scored and was fouled and proceeded to make the foul shot. We immediately fouled and they sank both free throws to go up by 4. Back down the floor, Martin drained a three with 6 seconds to go to get within 1. We immediately foul and they sink both free throws. Mike Robinson's game ending three was deflected.

                    • Despite the loss, I think we ended our season on a high note. I am proud of the way my guys handled this tension filled exciting game. We did what we needed to do to win this game, we just fell a little short.

Do you follow the bracketology panels? They show up in the last couple of weeks in the bottom of the stats section, I believe. You can watch your projected NCAA seeding change as the season progresses. It seemed to change after every day for TSU in my legacy. Given that EIU was an #11 seed, I'll bet EIU showed up in bracketology throughout.

Given that EIU was an #11 seed, I'll bet EIU showed up in bracketology throughout.
Yeah I checked them basically after every simmed day since Bracketology was available. The first time I checked them I was predicted to go as a #10 seed against College of Charleston, but I lost my next game and didn't appear on either Projected Brackets or Bubble Teams the rest of the time. The weird thing is during the selection show Eastern Illinois was at the top of the Bubble Team list.

Coach McGurk, you and your boys did a great job this season in getting to the NCAA tournament and almost upsetting the Hawaii Warriors.

Your 3-star recruits are coming in with great rebounding skills, how are the rest of their skills?

Harmon's strengths are defense, stealing(tied with Robinson for best rating on team) and rebounding. Lhota has nice speed(2nd best on the team), defense, and has pretty good potential (B-). Cartier Murphy's defensive awareness is tied with Harmon's as best amongst Forwards. He has the second best offensive and defensive rebound rating, behind Cisse, and his potential is also a B-.

Lhota and Murphy are probably going to be red-shirted.
