    West Virginia Mountaineers (NCAA 08)

Alright, sorry to end my USF dynasty, but I've been searching these forums for sliders and I finally found one that would make running WVU's offense fun and realistic. I am very excited to start this and will stick with this one since WVU is my favorite team.

    West Virginia 23007 Preview

Slaton and White Lead WVU's Offense

    Offensive Starters
    QBPat White
    HB Steve Slaton
    FB Owen Scmitt
    WR Darius Renaud
    WR Dorell Jalloh
    TE Michael Villagrana
    LT Ryan Stanchek
    LG John Bradshaw
    C Mike Dent
    RG Greg Islander
    RT Jake Figner

The offense looks to be amazing once again. There is some inexperience on the offensive line, but with Pat White and Steve Slaton in the backfield, things should be fine. Underappreciated wide receiver Darius Reanaud looks to have a breakout senior year as he should step up this year. The offense, as usual, should put up lots of points and keep WVU in games in which their defense is struggling.

    Defensive Starters
    LE Johnny Dingle
    RE Trey Jackson
    DT Keilen ****s
    LOLB Sac Cooper
    MLB Marc Magro
    ROLB Mortty Ivy
    CB Vaugn Rivers
    CB Antonio Lewis
    CB Larry Williams
    FS Quinton Andrews
    SS Eric Wicks

The defense hopes to improve over last season in which the secondary was 109th in pass defense. The defense is lead by All-American safety Eric Wicks, who looks to keep WVU's defense anchored. He can't do it himself, though, and others must step up in the secondary to help him. Defensive tackle Keilen ****s leads WVU's talented defensive line. Middle linebacker Marc Magro will be the star linebacker in WVU's 3-3-5 defense.

    Special Teams Starters
    K Pat McAfee
    P Scott Kozloski
    KR Steve Slaton
    KR Darius Renaud
    PR Steve Slaton
    KOS Pat McAfee
    LS Ryan Stanchek

The special teams unit looks solid. Pat McAfee will be the placekicker and may take on punting duties if sophomore punter Scott Kozloski struggles. Steve Slaton and Darius Renaud are dangerous returners, so look out everytime they touch the ball.

Mountaineers Win, but Huge Defensive Issues are Exposed
Slaton Rushes fo 216 yards in win.

Morgantown, WV: The Mountaineers looked to start off 2007 with their national title hopes right, and they did, but rather unimpressively. Steve Slaton and Pat White combined to rush for 346 yards, but the Mountaineer defense was the problem. The secondary was horrific as they allowed Bronco quarterback Todd Hiller to complete 28 of 35 passes for 517 yards, yes 517. Luckily, they also picked him off 3 times, but there is no excuse. Coach Rich Rodriguez said, "Wow, we really need to pick up our defense. Imagine what this type of pathetic effort would have done against Brian Brohm. We'll be running extra practices for our defenders this week, and extra suicides."

The Mountaineers improve to 1-0 (0-0) with the season-opening win.

Defense Turns it Around as Mountaineers Win by 48
Eric Wicks and the Mountaineer defense allow only 142 yards

Huntington, WV - The Mountaineer defense was heavily scrutinized last week for its terrible pass defense. This week, the defense turned it around, only allowing Marshall's Bernie Morris to complete of 11 of 24 passes for just 64 yards. The Mountaineers also picked him off 3 times. On the offensive side of the ball, the Mountaineers shined as usual. The Mountaineers racked up 507 yards of offense, including Slaton's 139 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Noel Devine had his first breakout game as a Mountaineer, as he used his extra playing time due to the blowout to impress, as he tallied up 114 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 14 carries.

West Virginia improves to 2-0 (0-0) with the victory.

Yeah, I always try to build teams up and such, but it just isn't as fun as playing with my favorite team. Another update is coming is just a few minutes.

White goes down with injury; out for 2 weeks

College Park, MD - The Mountaineers struggled to come out of Byrd Stadium with a win in this primetime Thursday night showdown on ESPN. The Mountaineers came back from an 11 point deficit in the 3rd quarter to win the football game. "I'd like to win by a more impressive margin," Rodriguez said, "but I'll take the victory." The story of the game, however, was the injury of Mountaineer quarterback Pat White. On a quarterback draw in the 3rd quarter, White was tackled and came down on his elbow and sprained it. He'll be out for 2 weeks and miss the East Carolina and South Florida games. In the meantime, dependable sophomore backup Jarrett Brown will get the starting job.

The Mountaineers improve to 3-0 (0-0) with the win over the Terrapins.

Good start so far, can never complain about 3-0 even though you're not alone at the top. Had to look up the name of your DT to see why it was being censored though

                            Jarrett Brown Stars in Debut
Sophomore passes for 343 yards in second career start

Morgantown, WV - The Mountaineers hoped to build off of the close win in College Park last week against a winless ECU team. In the past, however, ECU has been notorious for keeping games close versus WVU. This time the Mountaineers showed signs of struggling, only leading by 7 t th half, buit eventually pulled away en route to a 21 point victory. Jarrett Brown had a surprisingly great game as he passes for 343 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Next, WVU travels to Tampa, FL to take on the South Florida Bulls. The game will be West Virginia's conference opener.

West Virginia improves to 4-0 (0-0).
