tmacfan, that is your choice, but I am still going to report on your player. I have been playing this game long enough and have done enough of these reports to know that just because a freshman is low on the depth chart doesn't mean he won't get playing time. Lots of things can happen. But as I said, it's your choice

        November 16-22, 2009

One in-season tournament to tell you about this week, as #22 Mississippi played in the Top of the World Invitational

Nov. 19 -- #22 Mississippi- 80, Iowa- 72 -- The Rebels opened the season with a tough win, shooting over 50% to advance to the winners bracket of the tournament. Mike Korz didn't make an appearence.

Nov. 21 -- #22 Mississippi- 83, #12 Oklahoma- 79 -- Another good win for the Rebels, as they advance to the championship game with another hot shooting night. Again no action for Korz.

Nov. 22 -- #22 Mississippi- 78, #10 UCLA- 73 -- An unbelievable game for the Rebels, shooting almost 60% from the field to win the Top of the World Invitational. Still no action for Korz, who may be seeing his freshman year waste away.

        Other Games:

Nov. 16 -- UConn- 76, #18 Kansas- 69 -- Not the way the Jayhawks wanted to open the season, as the Huskies just had a little too much down the stretch. Mike Schaplowsky almost made an apperance in this game, but the KU coach decided to go with somebody else.

Nov. 18 -- St. Johns- 73, James Madison- 52 -- Nice opening for the Red Storm, as they broke open a close game to win going away. Also a nice freshman debut for Nick Angiotti, who scored 15 points on 4-7 shooting and 6-6 from the line. Also, he had no turnovers.

Nov. 18 -- #13 Utah State- 59, Ohio St.- 55 -- A low scoring battle goes in favor of Utah State, as both teams shot horribly from the field. The Buckeyes led by 3 at halftime, but couldn't hold it. Matt Logmans opened his NCAA career with 9 points on 3-7 shooting, and didn't attempt a three ball.

Nov. 19 -- Tulsa- 82, Evansville- 62 -- In a rematch of what used to be a Missouri Valley Conference game, the Golden Hurricane won easily, outscoring Evansville by 10 in each half. Brandon Crawford came off the bench to score 4 points on 2-4 shooting.

Nov. 21 -- #18 Kansas- 78, Kentucky- 68 -- The Jayhawks get their first win of the season, bouncing back nicely. They had to come back from a 7 point halftime deficit. Again, no action for Schaplowsky.

Nov. 21 -- Tulsa- 72, Birmingham Southern- 54 -- No problem in this one for Tulsa, who improves to 2-0, doing it with solid defense, allowing only 54 points. Crawford off the bench again for 1-4 shooting and 2 points.

Nov. 21 -- Ohio St.- 81, Arkansas St.- 43 -- An easy game for the Buckeyes, who led by 18 at halftime and rolled in this one. Logmans fouled out of this ballgame after scoring 10 points and dishing 3 assists. Unfortunately, he missed all 3 of his free throw attempts.

Top 25 Polls: Kansas slips out of the polls, but still received 27 votes. St. Johns also received 1 vote, while Mississippi is #11 in the nation after their Top of the World Invitational championship.

          November 23-29, 2009

2 teams had inseason tournaments this week: Ohio St. and St. Johns. We'll start with Ohio St.

          2009 Las Vegas Invitational

Nov. 23 -- #20 Virginia- 83, Ohio St.- 68 -- The Buckeyes allowed 58 first half points and trailed 58-32 at halftime, they could never recover, and they fall to the losers bracket. A nice game for Logmans, as he had 20 points on 7-17 shooting from the field, but still didn't attempt any three pointers.

Nov. 24 -- Ohio St.- 71, #5 Duke- 52 -- The Buckeyes defense woke up today, holding Duke to 18 first half points to advance to the 5th place game. Another big game for Logmans, as he had 24 points on 8-17 shooting, but missed both his three point attempts. He was 8-8 from the line however.

Nov. 25 -- Wisconsin - 72, Ohio St.- 54 -- In a battle between conference foes, the Badgers broke open a halftime tie to take 5th place, and the Buckeyes had to settle for 6th. A night to forget for Logmans, as he was just 3-14 shooting for 9 points.

          2009 Preseason NIT

Nov. 24 -- St. Johns- 72, Florida St.- 71 -- A great basketball game tonight, but the Red Storm survive to move into the second round, despite having 23 turnovers. Angiotti had 3 of those turnovers and no assists, not what you want from a point guard. He did score 9 points however.

Nov. 26 -- #24 Utah- 93, St. Johns- 68 -- A dismal performance tonight, as the Red Storm continued to be plagued by turnovers, having 24 on the game, as they are eliminated from the preseason NIT. Angiotti had a bad night handling the ball, committing 7 turnovers to just 2 assists. On one bright note, he did score 19 points on 5-8 three point shooting, and 6-14 overall.

          Other games:

Nov. 24 -- #3 Stanford- 80, Kansas- 68 -- In what was really an even game, the Jayhawks fell short of an upset. All the stats were pretty well even in this game, a game that Schaplowsky watched all of from the bench.

Nov. 29 -- Tulsa- 79, Western Illinois- 51 -- Another easy one for Tulsa, who hasn't really played anybody yet that has tested them. A 42-27 rebounding edge helped the cause. Crawford played 16 minutes off the bench and scored 5 points and had 4 rebounds.

Top 25 Polls: Mississippi moved up to #9 this week despite not playing a game. Unfortunately they are the only one of our recruits teams to even be ranked or receiving votes.

Re: Fast Break College Basketball Interactive Dynasty

Haha, least your guy is playing. Seriously, that's one problem I ran into is some of the recruits not playing their freshman season. The way I run it, I add a random human coach for each recruits team, and set it up so that they handle everything, the problem is, the good teams usually have head coaches with high ratings, and the coaches i create are usually average. For instance, in this dynasty, all the human coaches are 75 in everything. The coaches that were on the team before that, all had a rating of 100 in at least one stat. Also, I usually save before I check out the depth chart before the season, so if I have a guy that is not projected to play, it's too late to go back and redshirt him myself. I think I've already lost one follower because his cause was so low on the depth chart this year.

I was thinking about starting over and doing things a little differently, like when I add a human coach, check the coach that i'll be replacing, and give the human coach the exact same ratings. But i want to be fair to you 3 guys who are getting playing time. So I'm kind of at a standstill right now. I want more readers and followers, what could I do different? Should I start over and make sure I set it to where hopefully all the recruits and teams do good, or should I run with what I got?

I've decided to just go ahead and run with this dynasty the way it is. I went back and checked my other 2 dynasties, and I also had the same kind of situations. It'll be kinda fun to see if my guy ever gets to play in a game in his freshman year or not. lol, another report up soon.

                  November 30-December 6, 2009

Nov. 30 -- #9 Mississippi- 92, Buffalo-42 -- An easy win for the Rebels, as they held Buffalo to just 28.3% shooting. It is evident that Korz will not be playing much this season, as he couldn't get on the floor even in a blowout.

Dec. 1 -- Kansas- 64, Iowa- 43 -- The Jayhawks shot almost 10% better than the Hawkeyes and rolled to a victory. No action for Schaplowsky.

Dec. 2 -- Ohio St.- 78, North Carolina- 68 -- A good Big Ten-ACC game here, as the Buckeyes were just a little bit better today. Another solid game from Logmans, who had 19 points on 8-15 shooting. He also made a three pointer.

Dec. 3 -- Kansas- 66, California- 64 -- A good, hard fought game goes to the Jayhawks, who got a late defensive stop to preserve the victory. It's also become apparent that Schaplowsky will see little to no playing time this season.

Dec. 3 -- Tulsa- 61, Oral Roberts- 54, A low scoring game which favors the Golden Hurricanes, who were actually outrebounded by 7 but had a major advantage in turnovers, 21-11. Crawford was ineffective tonight, playing only 6 minutes, with no key stats to speak of. He did have 3 fouls in his 6 minutes.

Dec. 4 -- #9 Mississippi- 75, Loyola-Chicago- 62 -- This was more of a game than the Rebels expected it to be, as Loyola battled all the way but fell short. Another night on the bench for Korz.

Dec. 6 -- #20 Utah- 104, St. Johns- 49 -- St. Johns would have been better off staying at home for this one, they were hammered 49-27 on the boards, and committed 26 turnovers while forcing 10. Angiotti had 4 turnovers and 1 assist. He did have 11 points.

Top 25 polls: Mississippi only moved up to #8 after a solid week, and Kansas and Tulsa both received votes this week. Kansas received 33 votes, and Tulsa received 8.

                      December 7-13, 2009

Dec. 7 -- Arkansas- 63, Kansas- 39 -- Tough scoring night for the Jayhawks, as they led at halftime but scored just 9 second half points. They shot 28% from the field. As expected, no action for Schaplowsky.

Dec. 7 -- #19 Oklahoma St.- 80, Tulsa- 58 -- The Golden Hurricane were outscored 42-15 in the second half to turn a 5 point halftime lead into a 22 point loss. Crawford had a nice game off the bench, scoring 9 points on 3-5 shooting, including 2-4 from behind the arc. He also had 3 rebounds.

Dec. 8 -- St. Johns- 87, Iona- 69 -- A great shooting night for Angiotti, who scored 17 points on 7-9 shooting and 2-2 from the line. He had 2 assists, and 2 turnovers.

Dec. 9 -- #21 Utah- 90, Ohio St.- 62 -- A game the Buckeyes would like to forget, as they were outscored 51-23 in the first half, and played even with Utah in the second half. 16 points for Logman on 6-12 shooting.

Dec. 10 -- #6 Illinois- 99, Kansas- 61 -- The Jayhawks were outrbeounded 44-24 in route to a crushing defeat. With all the rebounding problem, you would think Schaplowsky would play, but he didn't.

Dec. 12 -- St. Johns- 85, Harvard- 49 -- Another easy victory for the Red Storm, as they held Harvard to just 34.8% shooting. Angiotti led his team in passing with 6 assists, his career high, but also had 5 turnovers.

Dec. 13 -- #8 Mississippi- 87, Baylor- 61 -- The Rebels forced 29 Baylor turnovers in route to an easy win. Korz again rode the pine.

Top 25 polls: Mississippi remains the only team ranked, at #7. They were also the only one of our recruits schools to receive votes.

OK, while I'm not starting over, I am going to add new human coaches to each team and have their ratings reflect what the coaches ratings were before the human coaches took over our recruits teams. We'll see if that has an improvement on some of the teams.

                        Dec. 14-20, 2009

Dec. 15 -- Kansas- 91, St. Johns- 73 -- The Jayhawks win the battle of our top recruit teams, as the Red Storm continue to struggle with turnovers, having 25 today. In some good news, the new KU coach has changed the depth chart, and Schaplowsky made his first appearence, playing 4 minutes, missing his only shot and pulling down 1 rebound. Angiotti for St. Johns struggled with turnovers again, as he had 6, compared to just 2 assists. He did score 10 points.

Dec. 16 -- Ohio St.- 91, Florida St.- 53 -- Absolutely outstanding ball control, as the Buckeyes committed only 4 turnovers in the ball game. 4! That's outstanding. Logmans had 22 points on 8-19 shooting, and also had 6 boards.

Dec. 17 -- #7 Mississippi- 80, South Carolina St.- 47 -- Welcome to the Mississippi line up Mike Korz, who made his debut, playing 7 minutes and scoring 9 points on 3-6 shooting and 2-2 from the line. Nice debut from the young man.

Dec. 18 -- Ohio St.- 92, Texas-San Antonio- 75 -- The Buckeyes really never broke out in this one, as they actually trailed by 7 at halftime before getting it going. Another great day for Logmans, who scored 23 points on just 9-15 shooting.

Dec. 19 -- Tulsa- 69, Mississippi St.- 45 -- Turnovers were the difference in this one, as the Golden Hurricane forced 26 in route to a nice win. A perfect shooting day for Crawford, who scored 7 points on 3-3 shooting, and 1-1 from the three point stripe.

Dec. 20 -- Pittsburgh- 74, Ohio St.- 65 -- A setback in this one for the Buckeyes, as they went on the road and had another bad first half, being outscored 46-24. They couldn't do enough to make up the difference. Logmans had to work for his points today. He did score 17, but it came on 22 shots.

Dec. 20 -- St. Johns- 79, Virginia- 75 -- A good battle went to the Red Storm, but again they struggled with turnovers, having 26. A game to forget for Angiotti, who fouled out after playing only 12 minutes. He scored 7 points and had 1 assist.

Dec. 20 -- Villanova- 69, #7 Mississippi- 62 -- The Rebels finally suffered their first loss, losing to a solid Villanova team that outshot Ole Miss, 48% to 33%. In only his second game of action, Korz might have wished he would have stayed on the bench, shooting just 1-11 with 2 points.

Top 25 polls: After the loss to Villanova, Mississippi moved down to 18 in the polls. Ouch! No other team received votes.

On another note, yes I did change all the coaches, I bumped their ratings up, but after one week it's hard to see what kind of impact I made. And yes, I manually moved Mike Schaplowsky and Mike Korz up in the depth chart, they are both coming off the bench. It's only fair, as quite honestly if they weren't going to play they should have been redshirted. I'm not sure why they weren't. I know I said I'd let it play out, but hey it is my dynasty, and it's only fair that all the recruits get minutes, right?

                                Dec. 21-27, 2009

2 tournaments to tell you about this week, as Kansas and Tulsa are playing theirs.

                                2009 Rainbow Invitational

Dec. 24 -- Kansas- 87, Georgetown- 59 -- The Hawks rolled in their first round game, getting 15 steals in an easy victory. Schaplowsky played just 4 minutes and had 1 rebound.

Dec. 26 -- Kansas- 83, #7 Temple- 41 -- Another easy victory for the Jayhawks, who are clicking on all cylinders right now. They held Temple to just 34% shooting to advance to the championship game. Almost a carbon copy of last game for Schaplowsky, who played 4 minutes and had 1 rebound.

Dec. 27 -- Kansas- 90, UMass- 35 -- A shocking display tonight, as UMass had 33 turnovers, 20 of those from KU steals. With such a shocking blowout to win the Rainbow Invitational, Schaplowsky actually got less minutes, only 3. He did score 1 point though.

                                2009 San Juan Classic

Dec. 25 -- Tulsa- 68, Charlotte- 51 -- The Golden Hurricane struggled a little, but won their first round game, holding Charlotte to just 16 first half points. Crawford scored 7 points on 3-9 shooting, including making 1 three pointer.

Dec. 26 -- Boston College- 62, Tulsa- 52 -- Despite forcing more turnovers, the Golden Hurricane allowed Tulsa to shoot much better than they did, resulting in the third place game tomorrow. A nice game for Crawford, who pulled down a season high 5 rebounds.

Dec. 27 -- Tulsa- 65, #14 Alabama- 62 -- A great game as the Golden Hurricane had enough to edge the Crimson Tide for third place in the San Juan Classic. Not the best game for Crawford, who played 13 minutes and scored 3 points, but also had 3 fouls.

                                Other Games

Dec. 22 -- Southern Miss- 82, #18 Mississippi- 76 -- The second straight loss for Mississippi, who surprisingly isn't doing as well with their new coach. Korz saw 14 minutes of action, but didn't score. He only attempted 2 shots, both three pointers, and missed them both. He did have 1 offensive rebound and 2 assists.

Dec. 22 -- St. Johns- 82, Minnesota- 75 -- The Red Storm may be getting a handle on their turnover problems, as they only had 14 this game. Unfortunately, Angiotti is still having his troubles, as he had 4 turnovers compared to 1 assist. He scored 8 points but was just 4-8 from the line.

Dec. 23 -- Ohio St.- 77, St. Bonaventure- 69 -- An evenly matched game see the Buckeyes come out on top, thanks to an all around solid performance from Logmans, who was the player of the game with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was 8-16 shooting.

Dec. 24 -- St. Johns- 75, San Jose St.- 56 -- The Red Storm kept San Jose State winless with a solid effort, despite shooting less than 40% for the game. A bright spot for Angiotti as he actually had more assists than turnovers today, 3 to 2 respectively. Not a bad effort for a guard either, pulling down 5 boards, but shot just 1-9 from the field.

Dec. 26 -- #18 Mississippi- 92, Arkansas-Pine Bluff- 46 -- The Rebels doubled up Pine Bluff today, holding them to just 28.6% shooting. Korz had a solid day in 9 minutes of action, shooting 5-7 from the field, including 2-4 from three point land for 12 points.

Top 25 polls: Mississippi somehow moves up to #12 in the polls, despite a 1-1 record. By virtue of winning the Rainbow Invitational in very convincing fashion, Kansas moves up to #25 in the polls. Here's a look:
