Re: Fast Break College Basketball Interactive Dynasty

Being that it is now February, it is time for me to do a little more of an in-depth analysis of our recruits, as per anoldogoats request. So let's get started.

Analysis: The first thing that jumps to mind looking at Angiotti is obviously his assist to turnover ratio. You want your point guard at a good 2 to 1 ratio, and Angiotti is at 0.7 to 1. Not very good, when he's averaging 2.3 assists to 3.2 turnovers a game. Gotta get better. His potential is only a C in passing, but his attributes have taken a nice jump so far this season. Looking at his inside shooting, you can tell Angiotti really specializes in driving and getting in the lane. This is proven by the fact that he averages 3.5 FTs a game and his season high on the line is 8 attempts.

Simply put, without Logmans, this Ohio St. teams would be a lot worse off than they are. I take that back, Logmans is part of a 1-2 guard combo with Montelongo. Between the 2, they average for a good 40% of the teams offense. Matt is only going to get better, he's only a freshman, and he's only averaging 25 minutes a game. But he's averaging 16.4 points in those 25 minutes. He is the second leading scorer among freshmen in the NCAA. Again, he is definitely a candidate for many postseason awards. Unfortunately, unless Ohio St. makes a major run, he'll probably be on the outside looking in come tournament time.

Brandon has been a key guy off the bench all year for Tulsa, as he is shooting 42.5% from the field. That's what you want from a SF. The fact that he's pulling 2.5 rebounds a game is a big help as well. Can't deny the man has good hands, as he gets almost a steal a game. It's funny, because he's not expected to be very good in the steal attribute. Where this guy will continue to excel is shooting, as he's already a 69 in 3PS, and will only get better.

Mike's strength is rebounding, as he has an A potential in the rebounding categories, well, a B in defensive rebounding. Easy to tell what he is going to excel in. Once he becomes a regular for this KU team, he could easily average 10 boards a game. You'd like him to become a more domininant scorer as he progesses, especially since he also has tons of potential in that department.

Korz is not going to be your typical SG, as he is not a strong three point shooter, only with a 34 rating there and a potential of D. No, Mike needs to live and die with the mid-range game, as he has worlds of jump shooting potential.. just not behind the arc. It's hard to really get a read on him as long as he is only averaging 10 minutes, he is another guy that you hope gets more minutes next year.

Guys, are you enjoying the little changes I made, giving more of a player analysis game by game, and a detailed analysis after the month of January? I've set it up to where I let you guys know when you are playing a home game vs. away game, and my next idea is to also include your teams record and conference record starting next season. Guys, I really need more input, don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying this, but it's almost as if most of you guys don't seem to care one way or another. Thanks to anoldgoat and tmacfan12 for your input. If you guys know people that would be interested, bring them on board! The more response I get, the more likely I will be to continue this long term, and I'm always looking for ways to make it better!

Re: Fast Break College Basketball Interactive Dynasty

Guys, as much as I hate to do it, I'm going to have to make some changes to this dynasty report. I've done some thinking and with me getting ready to go back to school in the next few weeks, along with working 2 jobs and volunteer coaching a basketball team, I'm not going to be able to fully commit to reporting on this dynasty like I have been the past couple weeks. Instead of doing a game by game format with detailed individual performances each game, I'm going to have to go month by month. What I will do is print out your player cards after every month so you can see how your teams and recruits are doing, then I'll add a small analysis. As for the post season, those reports will be game by game, as they deserve a little bit more report. As for participation, since I'm not getting as much as I want, I will be throwing new recruits in every year, and you guys can too. Guys, I hope you understand, this is the only way I can be fair to you guys by keeping it going and having some time to report on it

The Red Storm finished the season with a couple bad losses, and Angiotti is slowing getting his assist to turnover ratio at a respectable rate, now having it at almost 1 to 1. He got a few more POTG awards over the past month and a half.

The Buckeyes have made an impressive run to put themselves on the bubble for an NCAA tournament bid, and Logmans continues to be a part of that run. He's starting to shoot the ball better as of late.

Tulsa should be on the way back to the NCAA tournament, even though they did have a couple 2 game losing streaks over the past couple months. Gotta give Brandon credit, he's shooting almost 50% from the three point stripe. Tough to do.

Mike got a few more minutes of action this month thanks to a couple injuries in the front court, and he is really making the most of them, as his average of nearly 2 rebounds in about 7 minutes a game has a chance to be even better with quality minutes next season.

No doubt the Rebels should be getting a top 3 or 4 seed in the big dance, as they've been a solid team all year. Korz actually has put up some nice numbers, averaging about 4 points and 1 rebound a game.

              (12) Georgetown vs. (5) St. Johns -- The Red Storm had no problems in this one, as they jumped ahead early and rolled to the next round with a 77-55 victory. Nick Angiotti made all 3 of his shots, 1 of those a three pointer, for 7 points. He had no assists and 1 turnover. He unfortunately fouled out after only playing 10 minutes, and he also had 3 rebounds.

              Conference Tournament Quarterfinals

              Western Athletic Conference

              (6) Boise St. vs. (3) Tulsa -- A huge upset in this one tonight, as 12-16 Boise St. took out Tulsa by a score of 78-71, coming back from an 8 point halftime deficit to do it. Brandon Crawford played 14 minutes and fouled out after scoring 2 points on 1-4 shooting. He did have 3 rebounds, 1 offensive.

              Big East

              (5) St. Johns vs. (4) West Virginia -- This one was close at halftime, then the Mountaineers took over, forcing 28 Red Storm turnovers to coast to an 83-62 victory. Angiotti had 2 of those turnovers, but he did have 4 assists. He also scored 12 points on 4-10 shooting, 2-3 from the line, and 2-4 from 3P land.

              March 12, 2010
              Conference Tournament Quarterfinals

              Big Twelve

              (5) Iowa St. vs. (4) Kansas -- The Jayhawks used a 48-33 rebounding edge to take out the Cyclones by a score of 75-60. Mike Schaplowsky played 21 minutes tonight, due to the loss of a couple big men. And if anybody could have a breakout game, he certainly had one, pulling down 13 rebounds tonight! 2 of those were offensive, but an even more alarming stat is the 5 assists he had. He did have 2 turnovers and missed all 4 of his shots, but he was 2-2 from the line for his only 2 points.

              Big Ten

              (6) Wisconsin vs. (3) Ohio St. -- After a strong finish in the regular season, the Buckeyes fell flat in the conference tournament, shooting just 31.7% and losing to a Wisconsin team that actually has a better overall record. Matt Logmans was the one bright spot for the Buckeyes, scoring 21 points on 8-20 shooting, but just 4-8 from the line and 1-4 from 3P land.

              SEC

              (8) Georgia vs. (1) #9 Mississippi -- The Rebels were played very tough, but managed to pull out an 81-74 victory over a gutsy Bulldogs team. This game was pretty close throughout. Mike Korz played just 6 minutes, missed all 3 of his 3P attempts, and was 1-4 from the field for his only 2 points. He also had 4 fouls in those 6 minutes.

              Big Twelve

              (4) Kansas vs. (1) #2 Oklahoma St. -- Poor defense led to the Jayhawks being hammered tonight, as Oklahoma St. shot 57.6% from the field in a 98-65 victory. Schaplowsky continued to surprise with his new quality playing time, grabbing 6 boards and dishing out 4 assists. He was 2-4 from the field and 1-2 at the line for 5 points, and he also had 3 steals.

              SEC

              (4) #22 Tennessee vs. (1) #9 Mississippi -- This was expected to be a tight, competitive game, but it was anything but that. The Rebels jumped out to an 18 point halftime lead and rolled 75-52. Korz was 1-2 from the field, both 3P attempts, but 4-4 from the line for 7 points. He also had 1 assist.

This despite the fact that Ole Miss committed 24 turnovers to just 13 for Florida. Not a good game for Korz though, who missed all 3 of his shots, including 1 3P. He had 2 rebounds and 2 turnovers.

I like the month by month format with detailed analysis during conference and postseason tournament games, I will be sticking with this one. It will be a lot better once we get more recruits involved. I've already thrown 2 recruits into the mix for next year, I'd like you guys to all add at least 1, maybe 2 more as well.

                NIT Second Round

South Region -- (10) Providence @ (2) Tulsa -- What a game this was, as it was almost as even of a game as you can get. Tulsa finally survived 76-75. A solid game for Crawford, who had 12 points on 4-11 shooting, 2-2 FT shooting, and 2-8 3P shooting. He also had 6 rebounds, 4 offensive, 1 assist and 2 turnovers.

                NCAA First Round

West Region -- (9) USC vs. (8) #25 Kansas -- The Jayhawks only led by 5 at halftime, but broke it open in the second half, winning 81-58. A big, big game for Schaplowsky, who took home POTG honors, his first ever, with a 15 point, 10 rebound effort. He was 7-12 from the field, 1-1 from the line, 3 of his 10 rebounds were offensive, and he also had 1 block, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 turnover.

East Region -- (11) St. Johns vs. (6) #21 Tennessee -- The Red Storm ended their season tonight with a tough 86-76 loss. They couldn't overcome the turnover bug, committing 28 again for the second straight game. Angiotti had 3 turnovers with no assists, but did score 10 points on 2-7 shooting, 1-4 3P shooting, and 5-6 from the line. He also had 5 rebounds and a steal.

                NIT Second Round

West Region -- (8) Wyoming @ (1) Ohio St. -- Despite an absolutely horrible shooting night from Logmans, who was just 3-20 from the field and 0-4 from 3P land and 2-5 from the line, the Buckeyes advanced to the quarterfinals with an 80-68 victory. Matt ended up scoring just 8 points, and also had 1 board, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers.

                March 19, 2010
                NCAA First Round

South Region -- (15) College of Charleston vs. (2) #5 Mississippi -- No problem tonight for the Rebels as they held Charleston to 18 first half points in an 84-53 victory. Ole Miss also forced 30 turnovers. Korz played 11 minutes and missed both his shots, 1 a three pointer, but was 2-2 from the line for 2 points.

                March 20, 2010
                NCAA Second Round

West Region - (8) # 25 Kansas vs. (1) #2 Illinois -- A gallant effort from the Hawks tonight, but they were overcome by 22 turnovers, as they were eliminated from the NCAA tournament with a 65-56 loss. The Illini really kept Schaplowsky in check, as he only pulled down 3 boards, and he scored his only point from the line, going 1-2 there, and missing all 3 shots. He also had 2 blocks.

                March 21, 2010
                NCAA Second Round

South Region -- (7) #24 Oklahoma vs. (2) #5 Mississippi -- The Rebels overcame 26 turnovers to shoot 50% and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with an 83-78 victory. Korz played 7 minutes and missed both his shot attempts, one a 3P, and was held scoreless.

                NIT Third Round

West Region -- (5) Pennsylvania @ (1) Ohio St. -- The Buckeyes advanced to the West Region Finals with a nice 93-78 victory. They broke open a 5 point halftime lead. A better game for Logmans, who had 22 points on 8-12 shooting, including 3-6 3P shooting and 3-3 from the line.

                  NIT Third Round

South Region -- (3) Xavier @ (2) Tulsa -- After a near upset in their second round game, there would be no such drama in this one, as Tulsa outscored Xavier by 10 each half to win 75-55. Crawford was 3-9 shooting and just 1-5 3P shooting, for 7 points. He also had 2 rebounds, 1 offensive, along with 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers.

                  March 24, 2010
                  NIT Quarterfinals

West Region -- (2) DePaul @ (1) Ohio St. -- What a game this was, nip and tuck all the way, but eventually the Buckeyes secured a 79-77 victory to move to the NIT semifinals! A balanced scoring game, but the Buckeyes were led by Logmans, who had 16 points on 6-14 shooting, 3-6 FT shooting, and 1-1 3P shooting. He also had 5 assists.

                  March 25, 2010
                  NCAA Sweet Sixteen

South Region -- (6) #19 Indiana vs. (2) #5 Mississippi -- The Rebels surprising season ended in a big way tonight, as the Hoosiers jumped out to a 10 point halftime lead and never looked back, winning 76-61. Korz ended his freshman season on a dissapointing note, shooting just 1-7 from the field and 1-3 from 3P land for 3 points.

                  March 26, 2010
                  NIT Quarterfinals

South Region -- (2) Tulsa @ (4) Oregon -- The Golden Hurricane led by 6 at halftime, but were outscored 39-20 in the second half, as Oregon wins 76-63 to end Tulsa's season. Crawford played 17 minutes but never could get into the offense, as he didn't even attempt a shot tonight. His only key stat was 1 defensive rebound.

                  March 30, 2010
                  NIT Semifinals

                  (1) Ohio St. vs. (2) Iowa St. -- The Buckeyes came roaring back from an 11 point halftime deficit to advance to the NIT championship with an 83-79 victory. They were led again by Logmans, who scored 21 points on 8-15 shooting, 0-2 3P shooting, and 5-7 FT shooting. He did have 5 turnovers tonight, but also had 2 steals and 3 rebounds.

                  April 1, 2010
                  NIT Championship

                  (1) Ohio St. vs. (4) Oregon -- The Ducks held Ohio St. to 38.5% shooting while shooting 46.9% themselves, and the Buckeyes dropped the NIT Championship by a 75-66 score. Still a terrific season for Ohio St. They were led again by Logmans who had 20 points tonight on 8-17 shooting, 3-6 FT shooting, and 1-2 3P shooting. He also had 2 turnovers.

Well since nobody offered up any new recruits, I have decided to forego that part this season, and just get to tracking our stats for the 8 recruits that have been signed up. I will take signups for next year. I'm hoping to get about 6 or 8 new recruits for next year, that way I'll have 14 or so recruits to track. So guys, go ahead and get your recruits in now.

thanks sabrekings, I do wish I had more interaction and more feedback though. With the way I'm doing it now, the month by month, I can track a lot more recruits, but nobody really seems interested. It'd be a shame to have to end this because of lack of interest and signups

                            2010-2011 Season Preview

PG Nick Angiotti- St. Johns- Sophomore

Angiotti will again be the starting PG for the Red Storm, and he will be looking to improve on that assist to turnover ratio this season. The Red Storm are expected to win the Sweet Sixteen

SG Matt Logmans- Ohio St.- Sophomore

Logmans is expected to be the top performer on a young, inexperienced team that returns only 4 players who played more than 10 minutes a game. With James Montangelo gone, Logmans is going to have to pick up the scoring slack.

                            SF Brandon Crawford- Tulsa- Sophomore

Being so tall has its advantages, as Crawford is expected to see time at 3 positions: SF, PF, and C. Look for him to get good minutes, as again, being 6'9'' has its advantages. Right now he is scheduled to be 2nd off the bench.

                            PF Mike Schaplowsky- Kansas- Sophomore

Schaplowsky should see lots of playing time off the bench this season, as we should get a good look at how his inside game really is. Look for him to get some double digit rebounding games as he will be 2nd off the bench.

                            SG Mike Korz- Mississippi- Sophomore

Korz was hurt by a bad shooting percentage last year, as a couple players have jumped over him in the starting lineup, and Mike will be 4th off the bench this season. Look for him to average about 10 minutes a game on a team that was nationally ranked all of last season.

PG Nick Medicis- Ohio St.- Freshman

Although he is scheduled to come off the bench, look for Medicis to be starting soon into the season, as he has a load of talent. With him and Logmans running the backcourt this season, the Buckeyes have a solid shot to make it back to the NCAA tournament this year.

                            C Shannon Elliott- Stanford- Freshman

Elliott will be earning his spot on this team, which won the national championship last season. He will start the season 4th off the bench on a team again expected to compete for the national championship.

                            SG C.R. Ques- Kansas- Redshirting

Ques has decided to redshirt this year after learning that he would not play much this year, in a shocking decision. The Jayhawks have a lot of experienced guards coming back, and they want to use them to help the team to a better seed in the NCAA tournament this year.

The Jayhawks played a very tough schedule in November, finishing 3rd in the 2010 Coaches Classic, and also taking on ranked teams Wake Forest, Arizona, and Duke. In fact, every team they played in November was ranked. They finished the month with a nice win against Duke. Good minutes for Schaplowsky, who actually started against Duke, and thanks to an injury to starting PF Wally Harvey, he could start the next few games.

Korz is just having a tough time getting minutes this year with so many other guards around him. It's a shame too, he seems to be shooting the ball a little better this year than he did last year. As far as the Rebels go, they are in the semifinals of the 2010 Preseason NIT after beating Wichita St. and Tulsa quite easily.

A strong freshman campaign in November, as Nick averaged over 10 points and had an almost 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He's doing what he needs to do when he's in the game. He also picked up his first POTG award against Indiana State when he scored 17 points.
