Re: Fast Break College Basketball Interactive Dynasty

    Dec. 28, 2009-Jan. 3, 2010

Dec. 28 -- #12 Mississippi- 93, #18 Oklahoma St.- 80 -- A good top 25 win for the Rebels, who are starting to get things back together after the 2 game losing streak. While he only played 5 minutes, they were a productive 5 for Korz who had 5 points on 1-1 from the field and 3-4 from the line, and also had 2 rebounds.

Dec. 28 -- St. Johns- 79, St. Francis-NY- 48 -- Another easy win against a not so tough opponent for St. Johns. One bright note, for a PG, Angiotti may be starting to figure it out, as he had 4 assists to just 1 turnover tonight.

Dec. 31 -- Tulsa- 93, UTEP- 61 -- Good ball control by the Golden Hurricane who had only 9 turnovers tonight in the victory. Crawford scored 6 points in 13 minutes, shooting 2-2 from the field and 2-4 from the line.

Jan. 1 -- #2 Florida- 91, Ohio St.- 68 -- The Buckeyes were never really in this game, continue their win-loss pattern that they have all season long. The leading scorer again was Logmans, although he only had 15 tonight, but on 7-12 shooting. He also had 4 steals.

Jan. 1 -- #12 Mississippi- 74, Memphis- 51 -- Another solid effort from the Rebels again, who held Memphis to 35.4% shooting and rolled to a 55-28 halftime lead. Another decent game in limited minutes for Korz, who played 9 minutes and scored 5 points on 2-4 shooting, including a three pointer.

Jan. 2 -- Nevada- 70, Tulsa- 69 -- A tough loss for the Golden Hurricane, who trailed by 9 at halftime and almost pulled the comeback. Crawford had 4 points and 4 rebounds off the bench tonight.

Jan. 2 -- #14 Indiana- 87, St. Johns- 47 -- Not a good effort tonight for the Red Storm, who had 27 turnovers tonight, and definitely took a step back in their efforts to curb the TO's. Angiotti was even tonight: 2 assists, 2 turnovers. He also scored 9 points and had 2 steals.

Jan. 3 -- #15 Miami- 66, #25 Kansas- 61 -- The Jayhawks were brought back to life tonight in a tough loss against Miami. Although they did force 26 turnovers, Miami had just enough to wear them down. No action for Schaplowsky tonight.

Top 25 polls: With 2 good wins, Mississippi moves up to #9 in the polls, and despite a loss in their only game of the week, Kansas remains at #25.

As we move into the new year, it's time to take a look at all our recruits. From now on I've decided to do my own little in-depth analysis of how the recruits are doing, along with putting up their player cards. Lets start with Nick Angiotti.

My apologies to sabreskings3623, who had a player of the game award and I missed it. It was actually in the first game of the season when Angiotti scored 15 points on 4-7 shooting and 6-6 from the line. Nick is still struggling a little, averaging 2.2 assists to 3.2 turnovers.

I'm going to have to keep better track of the POTG awards, my apologies also to anoldgoat. I'll do better from now on. I told you about 1, but your guy actually has 3. Simply put, Matt right now, is playing the best of any of our recruits. His numbers for a freshman are outstanding, and he could be in line for a number of awards at the end of the season.

I like Mr. Korz a lot. Despite the one bad game where he went 1-11, he's proved to be a solid player, and a solid shooter.

You were in the recruiting for next season, and your guy will start playing as soon as this season is over. Be proud C.R., your guy was the only 5 star recruit in the whole group. I can't remember where you signed, either Kansas or Ohio St. I believe Kansas.

              Jan. 4-10, 2010

Jan. 4 -- #9 Mississippi- 65, #8 Oklahoma- 54 -- A good top 10 battle here, but the Rebels came out on top, in a game, that surprisingly Korz didn't play in.

Jan. 5 -- Tulsa- 81, San Jose St.- 41 -- This one was over early, as Tulsa lead 41-16 at halftime and rolled to an easy win in their conference opener. A solid game for Crawford who had 10 points in 13 minutes.

Jan. 5 -- #25 Kansas- 76, Auburn- 51 -- The Jayhawks held Auburn to just 35.8% shooting as they rolled to an easy win. A very productive 4 minutes of action for Schaplowsky, who scored 5 points and had 3 rebounds, 2 offensive, in his limited action.

Jan. 6 -- St. Johns- 79, #5 Syracuse- 74 -- The Big East opener for the Red Storm saw them pull an upset, as they played an even game with the Cuse, and hung on for a 5 point victory. Even better news, as Angiotti played a turnover free game in his 22 minutes of action. He only had 1 assist, but he did score 17 points on 6-9 shooting, including 2-4 from the field, to earn the POTG award.

Jan. 6 -- Ohio St.- 79, #21 Indiana- 64 -- The Big Ten opener for the Buckeyes was also a success, as they stunned Indiana. Ohio St. had better success from the three point line which helped them to a victory. Not the best of games for Logmans, as he only scored 8 points on 3-7 shooting, and he turned it over 4 times.

Jan. 7 -- Tulsa- 83, Rice- 44 -- Another easy conference victory for the Golden Hurricane, who outscored Rice 50-23 in the second half. Crawford had 3 rebounds and made 3-4 free throws to get his 3 points tonight.

Jan. 9 -- #25 Kansas- 86, Texas A&M- 50 -- The Jayhawks used a huge rebounding edge and forced 24 turnovers to roll in the Big Twelve opener. Schaplowsky had 2 rebounds in his 3 minutes of action.

Jan. 9 -- Boston College- 84, St. Johns- 69 -- The Red Storm fell short tonight after holding a 3 point halftime lead. Another good game for Angiotti, who had 3 assists to just 1 turnover, and scored 12 points.

Jan. 9 -- Michigan St. - 101, Ohio St.- 80 -- Not a good defensive performance from the Buckeyes who allowed 101 tonight. Logmans broke out of his slump with 16 points on 4-6 shooting and he made both his three point attempts. He was also a perfect 6-6 from the line.

Jan. 9 -- Mississippi St. - 83, #9 Mississippi- 73 -- A bad loss on the road for the Rebels, who had a 4 point halftime lead but couldn't contain it in the second half. Another game in which Korz saw no action.

Jan. 9 -- Tulsa- 81, Southern Methodist- 74 -- The Golden Hurricane had a nice run this week, winning all 3 of their games, but this one was much closer. They actually trailed by 8 at the half. Crawford scored 8 points and had 3 rebounds tonight.

Top 25 polls: Kansas made a huge jump to #11 after 2 big wins this week. The loss to their arch rivals cost Mississippi, as they dropped down to 17th.

                Jan. 11-17. 2010

Jan. 11 -- #13 Mississippi- 72, SE Missouri St.- 26 -- This one was a laugher, as the Rebels held SE Missouri to 24.3% shooting on just 8 second half points. Ouch! After a 2 game absence last week, Korz made his return to the lineup with 1 assist in 6 minutes of action. He missed all 3 of his shot attempts.

Jan. 12 -- Tulsa- 94, LSU- 75 -- Nice job by the Golden Hurricane to go on the road and beat a fairly strong power conference team. Although the first half was tied at 47, Tulsa owned the second half. Crawford scored 5 points on 2-3 shooting and 1-2 from the line.

Jan. 13 -- #21 Oklahoma - 84, #11 Kansas- 73 -- The Jayhawks had a 7 point halftime lead but couldn't hold it, as the Sooners took control in the second half. The normal 3 minutes for Schaplowsky, who had 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 2 fouls in those 3 minutes.

Jan. 13 -- Providence- 75, St. Johns- 67 -- The Red Storm might have won this game had they not committed 25 turnovers and gotten more production from Angiotti, who had 4 turnovers tonight to just 2 assists. He also missed all 5 of his shots, but did go 3-4 from the line for his points.

Jan. 13 -- #3 Illinois- 67, Ohio St. - 44 -- The Buckeyes kept it close for a while but couldn't finish it off, as they were outrebounded 58-25. Hard to win games that way. The leading scorer for the Buckeyes was Logmans, who hit 3 three pointers and was 6-17 from the field for 15 points.

Jan. 13 -- #17 Mississippi- 90, #2 Florida- 74 -- The Rebels get their first conference win, beating the #2 team in the nation quite convincingly. Of course shooting 55.1% always helps. Korz played 8 minutes and was 2-3 from the field, including a trey, for 5 points.

Jan. 14 -- Tulsa- 68, Hawaii- 48 -- The Golden Hurricane stay hot with a 20 point win, as they outscored Tulsa by 10 points each half. Crawford had only 1 point in 12 minutes, but did have 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Jan. 16 -- St. Johns- 85, Rutgers- 82 -- This was an even game all the way, but the Red Storm went back to .500 in the Big East conference. Unfortunately, Angiotti took another step back, having 5 turnovers to just 1 assist. He did score 7 points and had 4 boards.

Jan. 16 -- Indiana- 88, Ohio St.- 61 -- The Buckeyes continued to struggle, losing another Big Ten matchup, being hammered on the boards again, 41-29. A bad game for Logmans, who only scored 8 points on 3-9 shooting and 2-4 from the line.

Jan. 17 -- #17 Mississippi- 83, Tulsa- 63 -- In a matchup between 2 of our recruits teams, the Rebels were a little stronger tonight in a 20 point win. Korz continued to struggle however, as he was 1-5 shooting for 2 points, and Crawford was 2-4 shooting and 3-4 from the line, with a three pointer, for 8 points.

Top 25 polls: With a solid week, Mississippi moved back up to 13th, and with their loss this week, Kansas moved down to 19th.

Just a question for those who are reading, do you guys like the format the way it is? Is there something I should add? I'm not only doing this for my enjoyment, I'm doing it for you readers. I'm still hoping for more interaction and more followers. Do you like hearing little tidbits about how your team does? Or do you guys only care about your performance, and not so much your teams? I was thinking about just having a player analysis during the game reports, and not so much talking about why the team won or lost. I'm open to suggestions.

I think it's good but maybe add a little more on the player analysis for us. The team information is good as it is though.

                            Jan. 18-24, 2010

Jan. 18 -- #17 Temple- 77, Ohio St.- 76 -- The Buckeyes almost pulled the upset tonight, but couldn't quite get by Temple. Another solid game for Logmans, who scored 15 points on 7-12 shooting. He had 1 three pointer, 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 3 steals.

Jan. 18 -- BYU- 76, #19 Kansas- 49 -- The Jayhawks failed to show up tonight, as they were held to just 30.9% shooting in this one. Schaplowsky played 4 minutes and had no stats to speak of.

Jan. 20 -- St. Johns- 64, Virginia Tech- 55 -- Good conference win for the Red Storm. Angiotti had 15 points on 4-11 shooting, 3-8 from three point land, and 4-5 from the free throw line. He had 4 assists, and 5 turnovers.

Jan. 20 -- Ohio St.- 64, Iowa- 63 -- The second straight 1 point game for the Buckeyes, and this time they won. Not the best game for Logmans, who played 24 minutes, had 4 fouls, shot just 3-12 from the field and 1-2 from the line for 7 points. He also had 1 offensive rebound, 2 assist, 3 turnovers, and 2 steals.

Jan. 20 -- #13 Mississippi- 75, Arkansas- 70 -- A hard fought victory for the Rebels tonight. Korz played 14 minutes tonight and was 2-5 from the field, including 1-3 from behind the arc for 5 points. He also had 1 turnover and 1 steal.

Jan. 23 -- St. Johns- 89, Villanova- 79 -- The second straight win for the Red Storm, improving their conference mark. A solid game for Angiotti, who had 17 points on 5-6 shooting, 5-5 from the line, 2-2 from three point land. He also had 2 rebounds, both offensive, along with 3 assists and just 1 turnover.

Jan. 23 -- Louisiana Tech- 71, Tulsa- 64 -- The Golden Hurricane are slumping right now after losing their second straight. Crawford was 1-4 from the field, 0-2 from 3P land, and 2-2 from the line for 4 points. He also had 4 rebounds, 2 of them offensive, 2 assists, and 1 turnover.

Top 25 polls: Mississippi moved up to #8 after a good conference win, while a very bad loss dropped Kansas to #24.

More or less either way. Probably just more information on them in general.

                                January 25-31, 2010

Jan. 26 -- @ Tulsa- 106, Gardner-Webb- 39 -- Easy victory over a much overmatched opponent for Tulsa. Crawford played 14 minutes, was 0-2 from the field, both of his shots being three pointers, and he didn't score. He did have 4 rebounds, 2 offensive. 5 assists, 4 steals, and 1 turnover.

Jan. 27 -- @ #24 Kansas- 69, #16 Oklahoma- 63 -- A tough game for the Jayhawks, who pulled it out at the end after trailing by 9 at halftime. In 4 minutes of action, Schaplowsky attempted no shots, and he had 1 rebound, 1 block, and 1 turnover.

Jan. 27 -- Ohio St.- 88, @ Iowa- 74 -- Good conference win for the Buckeyes, who are staying around in the Big Ten. A career game for Logmans, who scored a season high 27 points on 10-19 shooting, 2-4 3P shooting, 4-5 FT shooting, and he also had 4 rebounds and 1 assist, no turnovers. Didn't get POTG however, as Ohio St. starting PG Montelongo scored 28 points and hit all 4 of his 3P attempts.

Jan. 27 -- @ #8 Mississippi- 63, South Carolina- 58 -- The Rebels continue to be the best of our recruits teams, and despite being outshot, held on for a big SEC victory. Korz had 7 points on 2-6 shooting, but only 1-4 3P shooting, and 2-2 from the line. He also had 3 rebounds, 1 offensive, to go along with 1 steal and 1 turnover.

Jan. 27 -- #5 Florida- 94, @ St. Johns- 58 -- A big nonconference game which the Red Storm forgot to show up for, committing 29 turnovers. Another tough game for Angiotti, who was just 3-12 from the field, and 1-5 from 3P land. Also only 1-2 from FT land for 8 points. Bad shooting night, and he also had only 3 assists to go along with 4 turnovers. He did pull down 3 rebounds, 1 offensive.

Jan. 28 -- Tulsa- 75, @ Boise St.- 50 -- Golden Hurricane improve their record and now look like a solid on the bubble team for the NCAA tournament. The minutes came for Crawford tonight, who had 23. He scored 9 points on 3-7 shooting, 2-5 3P shooting, and 1-2 from the line. He pulled down 4 rebounds, 1 offensive, and had 4 assists. No turnovers for our recruit, and he had 2 steals.

Jan. 30 -- @ #24 Kansas- 97, Nebraska- 53 -- Total domination for the Hawks in this one. Schaplowsky got 6 minutes this game and scored 2 points on 1-2 shooting. No other key stats for Mike tonight.

Jan. 30 -- @ St. Johns- 77, Miami- 69 -- The Red Storm are solidly improving their Big East mark with another win. However, the turnover bug is still hitting Angiotti, who had 5 tonight compared to just 2 assists. A better scoring night, as he had 16 points on 4-11 shooting, but 3-7 from 3P land. Also 5-6 from the line. He also had 2 assists, and 1 steal.

Jan. 30 -- #2 Illinois- 79, @ Ohio St.- 72 -- A gallant effort tonight, but the Buckeyes just couldn't pull the upset despite playing a very solid game. Another great scoring night for Logmans, who put up 25 on 10-20 shooting, including 3-4 from the line and 2-6 three pointers. Also had 2 rebounds, both offensive, and 1 assist. But he did have 3 turnovers.

Jan. 30 -- @ #8 Mississippi- 70, Vanderbilt- 41 -- The Rebels continue to roll, holding Vandy to just 30.6% shooting. They also forced 31 turnovers. Not a bad game for Korz, who hit 3-4 shots for 6 points. He also had 1 assist to no turnovers, and 1 steal. 3 rebounds, 1 offensive, completed Mike's night.

2 solid wins by both Mississippi and Kansas move them up in the polls, but it's hard to understand why St. Johns and Tulsa aren't at least receiving votes.
