    NYM - Pedro Astacio
    LA - Kaz Ishii

The Mets traveled to the left coast to take on the struggling Dodgers, who are still trying to get on the right track.

After Kaz Matsui and Jose Reyes singled to begin the game, the New York offense seemed to hit a brick wall for awhile. Ishii sat down numerous batters in a row, and the Mets had no answer for him offensively. The Dodgers too were having problems hitting the ball, and the game looked to be a pitcher's duel to start with. However, in the later innings, the New York offense erupted. Reyes got a couple more hits, sparking a six run effort by New York. In the end, the Mets took this one easily, 6-2.

    WP - Astacio (3-0)
    LP - Ishii (2-1)

    Reyes - 3-5, 2 SB
    Garcia - 3-4, HR (1)
    Piazza - 1-4, HR (7)

    Encarnacion - 2-4, 3B
    Izturis - 2-4

Reyes is definitely the spark in your offense.

            Starting Pitchers
            NYM - Steve Trachsel
            LA - Edwin Jackson

Fresh off of an easy win, the New York Mets went back to the ballfield to take on the very same Dodger team, who were still looking to regain their winning ways from years past.

What started off as a slugfest sooned turned into a pitcher's duel, as both defenses settled down after giving up three runs in the first inning. Neither team seemed to be able to get any rallies started after, leading to quick innings and a very fast paced ballgame. In the ninth, however, with the score 3-3, the Dodgers were threatening. Scott Strickland was the second reliever used in the game for the Mets, who were expecting the game to go into extra innings with the bottom of the order due up. After a leadoff single and a double, the Dodgers had runners on second and third with no outs. Two groundball outs to Wigginton and Phillips held the runners, and gave LA only one more out to work with, and the pitcher was coming up. In a last second change, Paul Lo Duca leapt out of the dugout to pinch hit. On the very first pitch, a low and inside 2-seamer, Lo Duca burned the shallow-playing centerfielder, Mike Cameron, to win the game for the Dodgers 4-3.

            WP - Gagne (1-0)
            LP - Strickland (0-1)

            Reyes - 3-4, 2 Runs
            Piazza - 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI

Lo Duca - 1-1, GW RBI Single
            Beltre - 3-4, HR (4), 2 RBI

Reyes is unstoppable! 3 hits in the last 2 games? What's his average and on-base %?
                  Carolina Hurricanes.

Average is hovering around .465 .. took a significant plunge in the last two games I've played. OBP is about the same, considering I can't buy a walk on this game.

Piazza has hit 7 HR's already. Are those HR off of mistake pitches or are you conciously hitting 'up' with the left analog button??
