        Three Way Trade Complete
        The Seattle Times

A three team trade was completed earlier today, it included the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians. Here is a breakdown:

        New York Gets:
Shigetoshi Hasegawa and Baek Cha Scung AAA (From Seattle)

        Cleveland Gets:
        Felix Rodriguez (From New York)

        Seattle Gets:
        Arthur Rhodes (From Cleveland)

        Arthur Rhodes - Relief Pitcher
        Age: 35
        2004 Stats: 3-3, 5.12 ERA, 32 K's, 38 IP

Arthur has not played a single game in the majors this year, but was 1-0, had 14 K's and a ERA of 1.80 in 18 innings pitched for the Buffalo Bison. (Indians AAA team) Arthur was a part of the M's between 2000 and 2003, and posted 26 wins, 289 K's in 261 innings. The Mariners gave up Shigetoshi Hasegawa, who is 36 years old, and has been struggling this year. With hard throwing pitchers Rafael Soriano and Arthur Rhodes in the bullpen, the Seattle team that leads the MLB in opponent batting average will be an even harder team to get a hit off of.

Nice job BCF... Hope the Mariners do well this season in real life.

I like how you got Rhodes back, but I'm kind of sad that Shiggy left.

                Oakland Gets Shutout at Safeco
                The Seattle Times

The Mariners didnt allow a single run to cross the plate during a quick two game home series against the Oakland A's. Seattle outscored Oakland 17-0, led by Joel Pineiro and Ryan Franklin's complete game shutouts. With the two wins the Mariners have started the season 14-2, and continue to roll in the best start in Seattle history.

Ichiro and the Mariner Moose are loving the 14-2 start.

                Game One - Seattle 12, Oakland 0
                WP: Ryan Franklin (2-0)
                LP: Joe Blanton (1-2)
                HR: Sexson (7)
Player of the Game: Ryan Franklin, 9 IP, Shutout, Win, 7 K's

                Pitching Stats
Ryan Franklin (SEA) - 9 IP, Shutout, win, 7 K's
Joe Blanton (OAK) - 1.2 IP, 8 ER, K, Loss

                Hitting Stats
Richie Sexson (SEA) - 3-5, HR, RBI, 2 Runs, 2B
                Victor Martinez (SEA) - 4-5, 3B, 3 Runs, RBI
                Adrian Beltre (SEA) - 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, Run

Ryan Franklin had plenty of run support, but could have still got the win with only one single run. Franklin picked up his second win on the year, and the Mariners had a season high 26 hits in a 12-0 blowout. Oakland pitcher Joe Blanton was pulled in the second inning and allowed eight runs.

                Game Two - Seattle 5, Oakland 0
                WP: Joel Pinerio (4-0)
                LP: Barry Zito (2-1)
                HR: Boone (6)
Player of the Game: Joel Pinerio, 9 IP, Shutout, 7 K's, Win

                Pitching Stats
Joel Pinerio (SEA) - 9 IP, Shutout, 7 K's, Win
                Barry Zito (OAK) - 5.2 IP, 3 ER, 3 K's, Loss

                Hitting Stats
Bret Boone (SEA) - 2-3, HR, RBI, BB, 2 Runs
Jeremy Reed (SEA) - 2-3, 2B, Run, SB
Ichiro Suzuki (SEA) - 1-3, BB, Run, 3B, RBI

After crushing seven home runs in the first sixteen games, surprisingly enough, Ichiro only picked up his first triple of the year in this game. Bret Boone added a home run, and Joel Pineiro picked up his fourth win in his fourth start and recorded his second shutout of the year. Joel Pineiro has 4 wins, an ERA of just under 1.70 and is leading the AL Cy Young voting in the early race. Barry Zito pitched a good game, allowing only three runs and striking out three in just under six innings, but didnt get a single run from his team to work with.

Player of the Series (Offense): Adrian Beltre, 4-9, 3 RBI, 2 2B, Runs
Player of the Series (Pitching): Joel Pinerio and Ryan Franklin, 9 IP, Shutout, Win, 7 K's each

Thanks for reading. And, I am hoping they do well also, and I am glad I got Rhodes back in Seattle, I prefer fastball pitchers over off speed pitchers, at least in the bullpen. Shiggy is good though.

                *NOTE*
Also, I am now moving the difficulity up to Legend, thats the highest it can go on ESPN. I think I have mastered the All-Star difficulity.

Jamie Moyer picked up his fourth win in the series and his first shutout of the year, and Richie Sexson hit three home runs in the series, all in the third game.

Jake Westbrook was upset after allowing a home run to Ichiro.
