    Re: Seattle Mariners (ESPN 2K5)

    M's Aquire Cabrera, Re-sign Meche
    The Seattle Times

Seattle has needed a DH all year, Bucky wasnt 100% and had a major slump in April, and Chris Snelling doesnt have the power the Mariners are looking for. For Seattle, the solution was in Florida. The M's traded third baseman Scott Speizio, outfielder Chris Snelling, AAA pitcher Aaron Williams and 300,000 cash to the Marlins, for 21 year old slugger Miguel Cabrera. The M's also signed starter Gil Meche to a 3 year, 2.5 million dollar contract extension. Meche is 2-2 this year.

    Miguel Cabrera - Outfielder
    Age: 21
    2005 Stats: .326, 6 HR, 20 RBI, 18 Runs

Cabrera will be a great fit in a already powerful Seattle lineup. Ichiro and Reed bring speed, then Beltre, Sexson, Cabrera and Boone bring the power. Speizio had one RBI in 3 games for Seattle, and Snelling had 3 RBI with a .310 average for the M's in 12 games at DH. Aaron Williams was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in AAA Tacoma.

    M's New Lineup
    RF - Ichiro Suzuki
    LF - Jeremy Reed
    3B - Adrian Beltre
    1B - Richie Sexson
DH - Miguel Cabrera (Aquired from Florida)
    2B - Bret Boone
C - Victor Martinez (Aquired from Cleveland)
    CF - Randy Winn
    SS - Pokey Reese

Thanks guys, Cabrera was a nice addition. I am up in the division a little, but since I started playing Boston and NY, Anaheim keeps slowly creeping up on me. And, just when I though it was over after NY, I have a 3 game series with San Diego next. That's 15 games straight against Top-5 teams. I want to play Kansas City and Texas some more...

After losing two of three games at Yankee stadium, the Mariners did the same at Safeco. Randy Johnson picked up his sixth win, allowing not a single run in eight innings in his return to Seattle. Gil Meche was the only starter to get a win in the series for Seattle, pitching eight innings, striking out six and allowing only one run. Pavano got the final win, as the Yankees beat Seattle 8-2 in a blowout led by Jeter's two home run performance in the first game.

Derek Jeter batted 7-12 with 2 homers and 3 doubles in the series.
