            M's Lose First Series at Fenway
            The Seattle Times

            Boston tore apart the Mariners at Fenway. Seattle, who has been cruising through opponents all season, finally met their match. The MLB's number one pitching staff allowed nine boston homers, and 28 runs in the series. There was no answer for the defending World Series champs, as they swept Seattle in three games. Gil Meche, Ryan Franklin and Joel Pineiro all recorded their first losses of the year.


            David Ortiz had 3 home runs and 9 RBI in the sweep.

                      I'm enjoying this one BCF. I agree with that other poster about it being a little unrealistic(mainly your pitching up until that BoSox series), but I'm not critisizing, you're doing a great job!

                      A quick question though, how'd you pull of a three team trade? Was it offered to you?

                              No, you cant do three team trades in the game. I just traded Shiggy to the Yanks for Felix Rodriguez, and then I traded Felix to the Indians for Arthur. It wasnt an actually "three team" trade, but I wrote it up that way. I wish the game would allow three team trades, maybe someday. Anyways, thanks for reading. And as for being realistic, I know I got off to a very hot start, but I started my NY series this morning and got shutout. I am not liking the AL East too much.

                                      M's End Road Trip 1-5
                                      The Seattle Times

                                      The Yankees took two of three from Seattle at historic Yankee stadium. Kevin Brown pitched a shutout in game one and Jaret Wright pitched well in the third game, which turned out to be the rubber game of the series. The M's managed to take one game though, behind the pitching of Bobby Madritsch. Madritsch pitched eight innings and only allowed three runs to get the 5-3 win, Bobby is 5-0 this season.


                                      Kevin Brown pitched a complete game shutout for his fifth win.

                                        The Yankees took two of three from Seattle at historic Yankee stadium. Kevin Brown pitched a shutout in game one and Jaret Wright pitched well in the third game, which turned out to be the rubber game of the series. The M's managed to take one game though, behind the pitching of Bobby Madritsch. Madritsch pitched eight innings and only allowed three runs to get the 5-3 win, Bobby is 5-0 this season.

                                                  Seattle has needed a DH all year, Bucky wasnt 100% and had a major slump in April, and Chris Snelling doesnt have the power the Mariners are looking for. For Seattle, the solution was in Florida. The M's traded third baseman Scott Speizio, outfielder Chris Snelling, AAA pitcher Aaron Williams and 300,000 cash to the Marlins, for 21 year old slugger Miguel Cabrera. The M's also signed starter Gil Meche to a 3 year, 2.5 million dollar contract extension. Meche is 2-2 this year.

                                                  2005 Stats: .326, 6 HR, 20 RBI, 18 Runs

                                                  Cabrera will be a great fit in a already powerful Seattle lineup. Ichiro and Reed bring speed, then Beltre, Sexson, Cabrera and Boone bring the power. Speizio had one RBI in 3 games for Seattle, and Snelling had 3 RBI with a .310 average for the M's in 12 games at DH. Aaron Williams was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in AAA Tacoma.
