    #23 (5-1) BOISE STATE VS (2-4) UNLV

    GAME RECAP

After picking up their 5th win over New Mexico, Boise State hosted UNLV in Week 8 in the final matchup in the Mountain West.. UNLV winner of 20+ games over the last 2 seasons has become a Mountain West title contender facing the Broncos in the Championship game last season, but a coaching change and some major hits in the transfer portal as seen the Running Reb's get off to a slow start this season starting out just 2-4 including a Week 7 loss to Air Force (21-13).

Tied at the end the 1st Quarter (7-7)and again at the half it was a slow start by both teams as Maddux Madsen struggles early with 2 INT's... UNLV opened the 2nd half with a 80 yd 12 play series to take the (14-7) and would hold Boise State to 50 yd FG by Colton Boomer to take a (14-10) lead into the 4th.. The Broncos offense however came alive in the 4th as Maddux Madsen throws 3 touchdowns including a pair to Chris Marshall to give Boise State the lead (24-14) with under 3 minutes to play and then with 42 seconds to play finds Ja'Bree Bickham on a 14 yd score to put the final dagger in the coffin.

      #17 (6-1) BOISE STATE @ (2-5) Nevada
      GAME RECAP

Another dying rivalry as Boise State and Nevada most likely play their final game against each other as conference foes. These 2 programs have met 46 times with Boise State winning 34 of them including 18 of the last 20 but Nevada's (34-31) win in OT in 2010 will be a dagger to the heart that Bronco fans will never forget.

Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter after Sire Gaines breaks a 33 yd TD run , Boise State exploded for 24 points in the 2nd Quarter to take a pretty commanding (31-14) lead into the locker room. Maddux "Mad Dog" Madsen once again was a 1st half hero as the throws 3 TD's including a pair to SR WR Latrell Caples.

With the lead Boise State leading Coach D slowed things down going back to the ground game as Fresno State transfer Malik Sherrod carried the ball 10 times for 72 yds and scored twice (once in the 3rd and once in the 4th) to finish with a perfectly even 100 yds on 20 carries.

Trailing (49-21) with 5 minutes to play, Nevada tried and rallied first scoring on a 28 yd TD run by RS Freshman Herschel Turner (79). The Utah State transfer finished the game with 16 carries for 82 yds and 2 TD's on the day.

Nevada also added a late score through the air as JR WR Marquis Ashley (72 ovr) hauls in a 20 yd bomb to finish the day with 9 rec for 125 yds

#14 (7-1) BOISE STATE VS (6-2) FRESNO STATE
        GAME RECAP

The Boise State/Fresno State rivalry started back when both teams were members of the WAC and has continued as members of the Mountain West and will continue next year as both teams move to the Pac-12. With both areas known for their Milk production the 2 schools came up with the "Battle for the Milk Can" .

These 2 schools didn't meet in 2024, so Fresno State comes in having won the past 2 meetings.. With a College Football playoff on the line, Boise State was treating this game more then just a rivalry matchup and it showed.

For SR RB transfer Malik Sherrod it was a chance to face his former team and the Sherrod had one of his best games of the season as he opens up the scoring with a 18 yd TD run on the opening drive to give Boise State the lead. BSU would add to the lead midway through the 1st Quarter as Maddux Madsen finds FR Ja'Bree Bickham on a 1 yd score to make it (14-0).

Both teams would trade FG's to open up the 2nd Quarter scoring... A pair of Madsen INT's would lead to a EJ Warner to Richie Anderson 6 yd TD with 40 seconds to play in the half as BSU goes into the locker room up (17-10).

Fresno State opened up the 2nd half with the ball and scores on the opening drive as Warner hits Josiah Freeman on a 1 yd pass to make it (17-17) but with 2:47 to play Sherrod scores his 2nd TD of the game from 1 yd out and 2 minutes later after the Bronco Defense comes up with a INT of their own, Sire Gaines scores on a 4 yd run to extend Boise State's lead to (30-17) as we head to the 4th.

After picking up a 4th and 1 on a run by Gaines, Boise State is stopped again short of the endzone as the Broncos settle for a Colton Boomer 19 yd FG to make it (33-17) early in the 4th, but with 5:02 to play Madsen hits Chris Marshall on a 3 yd score to extend the lead to (40-17).

Fresno State would score with 1:45 to play as EJ Warner hits Jayon Farrar on a 1 yd pass. The Bulldogs elect to try for the 2pt play and convert to make it (41-25) but a failed onside kick attempt gives the ball back to Boise State at mid field.

For Warner (79 Ovr) his day was done. The SR QB finished the game 39/59 (66%) for 287 yds with 3 TD and 2 INT. SO RB Bryson Donelson (84 Ovr) who replaced Sherrod as the starting RB had a hice day in the defeat as he finished with a team high 24 carries for 91 yds well also hauling in 10 rec for 75 yds.

For Boise State the offense wasn't done. Despite on 42 seconds to play, BSU showcased some trick plays in the final seconds as Madsen hits Latrell Caples on a 32 yd Touchdown after taking a late hit call by the Fresno Defense.

FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-48 FRESNO STATE-25
        KEY BRONCOS

            TRANSFER RUMORS

Reports coming out of the locker room is several key players are currently unhappy with their roles on the field and potential NIL money is coming into play as well. #3 RB Jambres Dubar and current Redshirting FR Greg Ard are both rumored to exploring bigger roles on different programs next year. With the #1 RB Malik Sherrod set to graduate, that would only leave Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley returning at RB.

True Freshman Ja'Bree Bickham has stepped in a done a great job as the #3 WR this year recording 33 rec and catching 5 TD's but some believe he could be a internal candidate to change positions and play RB next year and play WR out of the backfield with Gaines sticking to his role as the TD machine.

On the Defensive side of the ball, the big name everyone is talking about is DE Jayden Virgin-Morgan.. Last year V-M led the team in Sacks with 10 and he is currently leading the team with 4 this season.. Reports are Virgin-Morgan has been offered multiple big time offers of NIL money from schools like Texas, Oklahoma and Penn State.

MILLER COULD BE ON THE MOVE

Reports are several schools have already started to think about potential Head Coaching changes as several teams seasons are just 3 weeks away from ending.. Despite being in his 1st year as Co-Offensive Coordinator with Nate Potter, QB/RB/WR Coach Matt Miller has been gaining some interest from several schools.

Boise State's Offense currently is #17 in the nation in Scoring (37.2 PPG) ranks #3 in Total Offense (4514 yds) #2 in Yards per Game (501.5). #13 in Passing Yards (3118 yds) and are #1 in First Downs (246)...

One school to keep an eye on is UTSA.. Reports are HC Jeff Taylor despite being just 4-5 currently is still being looked at as a potential replacement at some other programs looking to take advantage of what Taylor has done of the past 6 years with the Roadrunners. UTSA also is being rumored as a team that could jump to the MWC joining UTEP next season as a team replacing some of the outgoing teams to the Pac-12 but we are also hearing that UTSA could be a potential Pac-12 addition as well as it was just announced that it's #1 rival Texas State has accepted a offer to join the Pac-12 next season.

                WEEK 12-14 RECAP

Boise State fresh off a Week 11 "Bye" Week, finished the regular season strong winning their final 3 games to clinch a spot in the Mountain West Championship game with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play.

The Broncos now (11-1) Overall appear to have also clinched a spot in the College Football playoffs for a 2nd straight year but a win over Hawaii would make it automatic as they go into the game currently ranked 8 Overall and as the 8 seed currently scheduled to host USC.

Here is a brief recap of each win.

                Week 12 @ (7-2) San Diego State (WON 31-13)

The Aztecs came into the game winners of 4 out of their past 5 games and appeared to be the Broncos last hurdle in completing the perfect conference season.

BSU lead (10-7) in the 1st Quarter and still at the half, but opened up the 2nd half with a touchdown to take a (17-7) lead into the 4th.. The Broncos scored 2 rushing TD's by Sire Gaines in the 4th Quarter to extend the lead to (31-7)... SDSU scored a late touchdown but failed to convert a 2pt play in the final seconds.

Maddux Madsen threw for 320 yds with 2 TD in the win, Sherrod finished with 97 yds on the ground and had 33 yds and 1 TD receiving well Gaines had 45 yds on 5 carries to go with his 2 TD's. Chris Marshall finished with a team high 7 rec for 120 yds and 1 TD well TE Matt Lauter had 6 rec 56 yds.

WEEK 13 VS (5-5) COLORADO STATE (WON 31-7)

It was Senior Day as Boise State say's goodbye to 19 Seniors on this year's roster. For the Rams it was a chance at getting their 6th win and becoming Bowl eligible, but the Broncos sent out the Seniors as winners.

BSU led (3-0) at the end of the 1st and (17-7) at the end of the 1st half and then the Defense stepped up huge in the 2nd half with a shutout well BSU added 2 more rushing touchdowns to close out the game.

It was a quite day for Madsen as the ground game ran for 284 yds and the 2 scores.

                Madsen finished with 191 yds and 2 TD's and 16/25 (64%).

Malik Sherrod had 25 carries for 111 yds and 1 TD well Sire Gaines had 14 carries for 132 yds and 1 TD.

                WEEK 14 @ (4-7) UTAH STATE (WON 49-10)

It was not the finish that Utah State was hoping or as their time in the Mountain West comes to a end.. Utah State will need to evaluate how to move forward in the new Pac-12 or their time will be spend in the cellar. The Broncos dominated the game from the start taking a 14-0 lead in the 1st Quarte and added 3 more scores before half time to make it (35-3).. The Broncos opened the 2nd half with the ball and quickly added another score to make it (42-3) at the end of the 3rd.. BSU scored early in the 4th for their final score of the game well Utah State did manage a late score against the 2nd team Defense.

Maddux "Mad Dog" Madsen finished the game with 265 yds through the air completing 21/29 (72%) well throwing 3 TD and 1 INT.

Malik Sherrod battling some nagging injuries left the game after 7 carries for 32 yds and the 2 1st Quarter scores.. Sire Gaines led the way with 15 carries for 114 yds and 1 TD showing he is ready to be the featured back next season. Jambres Dubar managed 4 carries for 25 yds and the 4th Quarter TD. We are still not clear if it was a audition for potentially a spot on another team next year or if he will stick around and be Gaines running mate.

Chris Marshall ended the day with 4 rec for 49 yds well TE Matt Lauter had 2 rec for 33 yds., but the man of the day was True Freshman Ja'Bree Bickham who had 9 rec for 128 yds and 2 scores. Chase Penry added a TD on 2 rec for 13 yds for his first TD of the season.

BRONCOS WIN FINAL MOUNTAIN WEST TITLE.

Hawaii tried it's best to rewrite the Hollywood ending to the Boise State Broncos 2025 season. The Broncos entered the game looking to win their 3rd straight conference title and their last as Boise will move to the Pac-12 next season.. Hawaii entered the game just (7-6) on the season but played like a team motivated to slay the mighty dragon.

Tied 7-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter, the Warriors matched the Broncos score for score in the 2nd Quarter with the game tied (21-21) Boise State would manage to connect on a 49 yd FG to close out the half taking the (27-24) lead into the locker room. Hawaii opened up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly scored taking the lead for the first time in the game but Boise answers back with their 4th TD of the game to retake the lead (31-28) going into the 4th.

Again Hawaii takes the lead early in the 4th but again the Broncos answer. to make it (38-35) with 6 minutes to play in the game. Hawaii wasn't done as RS FR Micah Alejado does his best to be the hero in the game as he throws a 28 yd bomb to JR WR Pofele Ashlock to retake the lead (42-38) with 2 minutes to play.

Alejado would finish the game with 373 yds and 2 scores well completing 25/37 (67%) well also adding a rushing TD well Ashlock led all WR's with 9 rec for 178 yds and the score.

Boise State however wasn't ready to give up on their dream of a 3rd straight title and a return trip to the playoffs, as Mad Dog takes over hitting Latrell Caples on back to back 20+ yd gains before finding Matt Lauter on a 30 yd bomb that takes the ball down inside the 10 yd line with under a minute to play...

Coach Danielson knew he didn't want to give Hawaii a chance to win the game in the final seconds and ran the ball on back to back carries setting up a 3rd and goal before Madsen hits Bickham for the final score of the game. Leading (44-42), Boise State makes a huge call by leaving the offense on the field to try and make it a 4 point game. Hawaii comes up with the stop though and gives them 1 final chance.

But with Alejado on the sideline it's True Freshman Dermarcius Davis leading Hawaii on their final drive. and Davis after completing his first 2 pass's is picked off by JR FS Ty Benefield as Boise State clinches the victory.

Boise State got it's revenge for the 2024 loss to the Ducks as they move to 2-0 vs Oregon on "The Blue".
