The 2014 season opener for the Texas Tech Red Raiders is against an up and coming Colorado State team that shall provide a pretty good challenge for the Red Raiders. With a lot of the starters gone from the #1 pass offense in the nation it will be interesting to see what this offense is all about this year.

            S. Corker(#9) makes a nice grab off of a slant to score Texas Tech's only touchdown of the game. The Red Raider's fans are not used to see such low scoring game, but with most of their offense gone it's not a surprise.

            E. Burton(#5) comes in for injured S. Young late in the fourth quarter and the true freshman rallies the team around him as he hit J. Amaro for a 31 yard pass, putting the Red Raiders in field goal range with under a minute left.

            K. Williams(#23) runs up the gut for 21 yards to give T. Hodges a much easier field goal attempt. Williams was a key part of the offense even though the stats don't show that, 15 touches for 83 yards.

                Game Notes
Texas Tech had a lackluster offensive performance against a sub par Colorado State defense and if they want to win against the number five team in the nation they must have a much better performance. For starters the Red Raiders need to get a little more of a ground game involved against TCU, because they lack talented receivers. Plus, there defense needs to slow down the TCU offense who is scored 46 points last week against LSU. All this is going to be a very hard thing to do with Ed Burton, a true freshman replacing Scotty Young, against a more talented TCU squad.

                  K. Jones(#84) celebrates after catching a 28 yard pass from E. Burton, tying the game at 10 -10 early in the second quarter.

                  C. Holmes(#37) makes a great play on a deep ball to intercept a M. Brown pass in the third quarter. The Red Raiders defense played pretty decent, only allowing 17 points in the first three quarters, till breaking down in the fourth.

                  C. Simpson(#80) came up big on this short post that he took 73 yards for a touchdown. Simpson also stepped up in the fourth quarter with three long touchdown grabs.

Texas Tech heads to Arizona to take on the Wildcats before they start their conference schedule. This is going to be a tough game for the Red Raiders, especially with a freshman starting quarterback that threw four picks last week and a defense that let TCU get way to many big plays.

                        S. Corker(#9) catches a long bomb from E. Burton for the 54 yard score towards the end of the first, putting the Red Raiders down by one after a missed extra point. Burton started off decent will one touchdown and one interception, but start to fall apart in the second half and ended the day on the bench with five interceptions.

                        K. Williams(#23) bounces an inside hand off outside for a 32 yard gain. Williams had a nice game running the ball, but the Red Raiders had to play catch up and give up on the run earlier than they wanted too.

                        M. Brewer hits K. Jones(#84) on an in route and Jones muscles his way into the end zone late in the fourth. Brewer filled in for Burton, after he threw four picks in the second half, and did a pretty good job hitting on three out of three passes for 62 yards and one touchdown.

                            Game Notes
Texas Tech heads to Missouri to face the Tigers in both teams conference opener. The Red Raiders freshman quarterback Ed Burton has had a pretty poor stretch, throwing nine picks to only five touchdowns in the last two games, but the coaching staff has full faith in him that he will get it together soon. Expect to see some more of Kenny Williams and the running game to help get this offense moving some more.

                              K. Williams(#23) gets the corner on the Missouri defense and runs it in from four yards out, putting the Red Raiders down by only one after a missed extra point. Williams had a break out game, 157 yards and a touchdown, showing that he can carry the load.

                              M. Brewer(#13) hits D. Dickson(#89) in stride over the middle of the field for the 67 yard touchdown, putting the Red Raiders ahead 27-20 after a two point conversion. Brewer filled in after Burton got hurt just before half time and did a great job maybe getting him the starting spot from now on.

                              J. Ward(#39) gets great blocking and take it up the middle for a touchdown and the win, after both team scored touchdowns on the opening possession. Ward had a career game spelling for Williams, scoring three touchdowns on nine carries.
