    A. Smith(#13) recovers a fumble late in the second quarter deep in Colorado State territory. The Aggies defense played a pretty solid game considering the offense turned the ball over three times.

    D. Preston(#9) makes a diving catch late in the second making the score 24-13. The New Mexico State passing attack was terrible the second half with three interceptions and numerous drops.

    V. Johnson takes a hand off late in the fourth quarter with the game well out of reach and gains four yards. The rushing game did not show up to this game, especially when Turner went out with an injury and so did his back up Clay.

                      NCAA NEWS

UCFs performance the last two seasons has really opened the eyes of some conferences looking to expand and last year, with UCF finishing #2 in the final polls, really set the wheels in motion. As of the 2013 season UCF will vacate their spot in the C-USA and join the ACC in the Atlantic division were the Knights will be afavorite to win.

Also, when Houston caught the word that UCF was leaving the C-USA they looked into joining a BCS conference and the Big 12 came calling adding another quality team to one of the toughest conferences in the NCAA.

With the two premier teams in the C-USA gone it leaves the conference wide open to in the race to be crowned champion of the C-USA.

TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS 2013 PREVIEW

                        OFFENSE
                        returning starters - 8

                        Quarterbacks
                        1. Jacob Karam [91 ovr] 6'0'' 213lbs (RS)Senior
                        2. Scotty Young [80 ovr] 6'3'' 200lbs (RS)Junior
                        3. Michael Brewer [72 ovr] 6'1'' 179lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        Jason Livingston [62 ovr] 6'1'' 200lbs Freshman

                        Overall - B-
Jacob Karam is coming off of a year were he threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns but threw 15 interceptions. Some think his production may drop off this year, with a new offensive coordinator, but Taylor has added some new formations just for the talent of the passing corps.

                        Halfbacks
                        1. Kenny Williams [82 ovr] 5'10'' 207lbs Junior
                        2. Ronnie Daniels [72 ovr] 6'1'' 198lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        3. John Ward [72 ovr] 6'2'' 203lbs (RS)Freshman
                        Brian Horne [67 ovr] 5'9'' 200lbs Freshman
                        Andy Graves [67 ovr] 5'11'' 206lbs Freshman

                        Overall - B
Kenny Williams is ready to take over the reins at starting tailback and be a little more of a force in the new offense.

                        Fullbacks
                        1. Omar Ontiveros [77 ovr] 6'1'' 235lbs (RS)Junior

                        Overall - C
Omar does not get credit for how good he has been for this Red Raiders team, because fullbacks do not get used much today in college football.

                        Wide Receivers
                        1. Alexander Torres [96 ovr] 6'1'' 199lbs (RS)Senior
                        2. Darrin Moore [87 ovr] 6'4'' 212lbs (RS)Senior
                        3. Eric Ward [80 ovr] 6'0'' 202lbs (RS)Senior
                        4. Shawn Corker [78 ovr] 6'1'' 194lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        5. Derek Edwards [73 ovr] 6'1'' 175lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        6. Riley Reid [69 ovr] 5'10'' 164lbs Freshman
                        7. Kenard Jones [69 ovr] 6'2'' 183lbs (RS)Freshman
                        8. David Dickson [66 ovr] 6'4'' 203lbs Freshman
                        Clinton Simpson [67 ovr] 5'11'' 169lbs Freshman
                        Phil Edwards [66 ovr] 6'5'' 177lbs Freshman

                        Overall - B+
This is a very deep receiver corps that is Senior heavy and it has one of the best receivers in the nation in Alexander Torres. Also, late commit, Riley Reid will be name that you will hear a lot in the future. Taylor has added some new formations to his playbook just to get all of this talent on the field.

                        Tight Ends
                        1. Jace Amaro [84 ovr] 6'6'' 254lbs Junior
                        2. Max Jones [65 ovr] 6'4'' 242lbs Freshman

                        Overall - C+
The preseason all-american, Jace Amaro, is a tall target in the red zone and has the speed to break a big one in open field. Also, Max Jones is a freshman but will be seeing a good amount of play time in this pistol offense.

                        Tackles
                        1LT. James Polk [84 ovr] 6'6'' 339lbs (RS)Junior
                        1RT. Kyle Clark [77 ovr] 6'5'' 298lbs (RS)Senior
                        2LT. Mark Miller [69 ovr] 6'4'' 275lbs Freshman
                        2RT. Donald Anderson [69 ovr] 6'3'' 288lbs Sophomore
                        Marquis Forte [66 ovr] 6'4'' 304lbs Freshman

                        Overall - C+
The outside of this line is fairly young and will surely get better as they mesh with more and more games played together.

                        Guards
                        1LG. Beau Carpenter [86 ovr] 6'6'' 302lbs (RS)Junior
                        1RG. Eric Buchanan [74 ovr] 6'5'' 297lbs (RS)Freshman
                        2LG. Eric Dingle [71 ovr] 6'2'' 308lbs Sophomore
                        2RG. Chris Darby [68 ovr] 6'5'' 275lbs Freshman
                        John Burton [67 ovr] 6'2'' 288lbs Freshman

                        Overall - C+
Beau Carpenter starting next to James Polk makes the left side of this line a brick wall for pass rushers and run stuffers and they still have one more year of eligibility left.

                        Centers
                        1. Tony Morales [84 ovr] 6'4'' 308lbs Junior
                        2. Kevin Shaw [74 ovr] 6'5'' 276lbs Sophomore

                        Overall - B-
Tony Morales caps off this offensive line that is very talented and will need to keep on improving, playing in one of the toughest conferences in college football.

                        DEFENSE
                        returning starters - 6

                        Defensive Ends
                        1LE. Aundrey Barr [84 ovr] 6'2'' 235lbs Senior
                        1RE. Dartwan Bush [80 ovr] 6'1'' 253lbs Senior
                        2LE. Patrick Thomas [68 ovr] 6'5'' 274lbs Freshman
                        2RE. Jackson Richards [78 ovr] 6'3'' 255lbs (RS)Junior
                        Sam McDaniel [70 ovr] 6'3'' 262lbs Freshman
                        Jonathan Thomas [66 ovr] 6'3'' 250lbs Freshman

                        Overall - C+
The two starting ends Barr and Bush are very solid rush ends, but after that there is not much on the depth chart. But there are two promising new recruits in Sam McDaniel and Jonathan Thomas.

                        Defensive Tackles
                        1. Pearlie Graves [85 ovr] 6'2'' 291lbs (RS)Senior

                        Tyler Gaither [62 ovr] 6'6'' 273lbs Freshman

                        Overall - B
The interior defensive line is really strong, and young behind the two starters, with Pearlie Graves leading the way.

                        Outside Linebackers

                        Overall - C-
This is the weakest spot on the entire roster and it is not looking better in the future because they are not that young here.

                        Middle Linebackers
                        1. Cqulin Hubert [85 ovr] 6'2'' 237lbs Senior
                        2. Blake Dees [79 ovr] 6'0'' 238lbs Junior

                        Overall - B-
Cqulin Hubert makes up for the lack of talent on the outside with his great range and suburb tackling abilities.

                        Cornerbacks

                        Adrian Wade [71 ovr] 5'11'' 174lbs (RS)Freshman
                        Jeremy Reynold [71 ovr] 5'9'' 166lbs (RS)Sophomore

                        Overall - B
One of the deepest positions on this team behind receiver, with NFL prospect Jarvis Phillips leading the way and sleep Tre Porter on the other side of the field, these two units play hard against each other in practice and maybe that is why the are so good.

                        Overall - C
Good thing the corners are very solid, because the backfield is very young and prone to blow coverages, but they will only get better.

The strong safety spot lost a very good play to the NFL draft, but they seemed to have filled it with a solid player in Terrance Bullit.
                        SPECIAL TEAMS

                        Kicker
                        1. Tommy Hodges [74 ovr] 5'11'' 176lbs Sophomore

                        Overall - C
Tommy is a decent kicker, but he needs to work on his accuracy to become an elite kicker.

                        Punter
                        1. Tommy Hodges [74 ovr] 5'11'' 176lbs Sophomore

                        Overall - C
Unable to get a punter in recruiting, Hodges was forced to play double duty and he has the kick power to really boot the ball down field.

                        Kick Returners
                        1. Shawn Corker [92 ovr] 6'1'' 194lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        2. Terrance Bullit [92 ovr] 6'3'' 192lbs (RS)Junior

                        Overall - B
Corker is the fastest player on the team and maybe in the conference, he will be a threat to break on at any time.

                        Punt Returners
                        1. Shawn Corker [92 ovr] 6'1'' 194lbs (RS)Sophomore
                        2. Jarvis Phillips [99 ovr] 5'10'' 189lbs (RS)Senior

                        Overall - B
Corker will aslo be returning punt as he has a nack for finding open seams.

                        Overall - B
This is a very solid Texas Tech Red Raiders team that can be a threat to win the Big 12, but they are going to need to work hard. Especially the offense with a new scheme and coach in Trooper Taylor, who likes to be a little more balanced than the Red Raiders are used to, but if they can adjust quick and have key players step up they may make it to a BCS bowl.

The Texas Tech opener is an interesting one, even though it is against a much lesser opponent. Trooper Taylor returns to Las Cruces to face New Mexico State and it does not look to promising for Taylor's former team, as Texas Tech is loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball, it should be interesting to see what this new offensive coordinator does and how he calls plays.

                                J. Karam(#3) puts the first points on the season for the Red Raiders, as he breaks a tackle and scores on a two yard run. Karam had a career day throwing for over 500 yards and running for over 70.

                                D. Simons(#92) celebrates after sacking T. Rust for a seven yard loss. The Texas Tech defense is gonna need to do a better job of stopping passing attacks if the Red Raiders want to win the Big twelve, as they let the Aggies throw for over 300 yards.

                                A. Torres(#86) catches a screen pass and goes down the side line for a 28 yard score. Torres had a career day breaking the school record for receiving yards, catching for 294 yards on 15 passes and adding two touchdowns.
