    Week 10 - Midweek News

    NCAA Football News:

TE Karl Kruger walked-on in Nevada and is now the nation's leading TE in receptions. (So much for him going undiscovered)

Colorado HB Mark Wood is showing a lack of raw speed at the halfback position. He was run down from behind despite having broken away from the defense.

    NFL News:

WR Larry Fitzgerald is back in the lineup for the Cardinals.

Panthers are getting HB Willis McGahee back this week.

    Awards:
NFC DPoW: LB Brian Rolle (Packers)
AFC DPoW: LB Mason Foster (Broncos)
NFC OPoW: QB Ashton Martin (Cowboys)
AFC OPoW: QB Jake Locker (Bengals)

QB Andy Dalton threw for 301 yards in a Saints win over the Patriots.

HB Michael Turner led the way with 2 TDs in the Falcons' win last week.

QB Kevin Kolb had a 141.3 QB Rating in a Cardinals win.

    Raiders News

NFL Standings - Updated: Week 10
    AFC WESTWLTPFPA
    Raiders620234164
    Chargers440171185
    Broncos350202212
    Chiefs260204240

Raiders gained a half-game over the idle Chargers while the Broncos missed a chance to tie for 2nd place in the division.

Next Game: Cowboys (3-5) @ Raiders (6-2) - Raiders get to face last week's NFC Offensive Player of the Week in this one, QB Ashton Martin.

    Injury Report:

WR Denarius Moore will miss three weeks with a broken collarbone. The sudden increase in Moore's injuries is concerning...and of unknown cause.

    Notable Progression:

    QB Wade Schumacher
    AWR: 78 to 79

    FB Marcel Reece
    PBK: 75 to 77

    CB Patrick Peterson
    PRC: 76 to 77

    CB Brandon Madison
    AWR: 55 to 56

    Scouting:

Tarleton State (who?) QB Lejon Jackson might be a good back-up option to develop. Pryor's injury last year reminds the team to always have a solid backup to develop. Jackson looks to have a strong arm, but is actually best at shorter passes, and has some mobility. He's is a stronger-arm version of Colt McCoy, who was quite successful. If he does hang around to the 6th round, or near it, the Raiders might take a flyer.

LB Davarius Bullock. 98 Hit Power. Enough said.

Massachusetts WR Fabian Favors looks to have consistent and reliable hands, rarely dropping passes that he can get to.

Lousiville RE D.J. Capi has exceptionally fast speed. The team will continue to evaluate him going forward. Speed will always get you a look, at minimum. Hopefully, he'll be a more rounded prospect than Quinterrius Fields...and more durable as well...

    Roster News:

The team continues to look for ways to get Rolando McClain more involved. Last week, he did force a fumble, but had just 7 tackles as teams are actively avoiding the star linebacker.

Brandon Lloyd moves up to #1 WR this week with Moore back on the trainer's table. Ware is #2.

Loving the work man, read every post! Have a question if you don't mind. I see you like scrambling abs, how often do you run with your fast abs in a game? How many yards do u usually get?if not rushing what do you use the speed for?

Sorry I am new to madden and trying to figure things out. I try to scramble with Stacey knight, but it doesn't work a lot. I usually scramble about 2x per possession.

Thank you for answering. Love the work

I have no definitive answer. It depends on what I read - defenders, receivers, defender reaction to me buying time (do they come up to me, do they stay on the receivers), are they in man? Zone? Spy? Are the routes coming back to me? Are they carrying the defenders away from me?

When I don't take off and run, I'm buying time, challenging the LOS to try to get them to pay attention to me so I can sneak a pass by them. And if none of that comes to pass, I use it to stay just out of reach and throw it away once I get outside the pocket.

          Patient Pounding Wins
Caulder Featured in Tough Trench War.
          Schumacher Avoids Errors, Wins 22-10

Both teams would be fired up on the defensive side in this one. The linebackers were ready to hit some people in this game and both sides got battles from the lineman and the linebackers went to work.

The interior front seven on both teams did the job. McClain picked up 11 tackles, 10 in the first three quarters before the Cowboys had to start trying to throw more due to the game situation. The Cowboys' ILBs combined for 14 tackles.

This lead to a tough day for both runners. Caulder did manage 100 yards on a LOT of carries, over 30. Ryan Mathews got around 20 times of beating his head against the wall. Neither back broke 3 yards per carry, and that's with Caulder getting one run broken off for 33 yards.

What Caulder did do was find the end zone. He scored two touchdowns on the day. Alfred Morris found more room, likely due to Caulder's beating, and had 7 solid runs for 44 yards.

Schumacher didn't throw a TD in this one, but no picks either. He took just one sack, and completed 66% of his passes, most of them somewhat short. He took a few deeper throws, and a couple should have been completed to D'Andre Ware, but one he outright just dropped, and another he couldn't keep his feet down.

Ashton Martin took a similar plan of attack. He stayed to more safe throws, looking underneath when the team was in man coverage, and finding holes in the zones otherwise. He caught the team off guard, though, with one deep bomb that was perfectly thrown for a touchdown. The recipient was Harry Douglas.

Beyond that, the Raiders didn't take a lot of chances on defense and Martin's quick release didn't give the pass rush time to get in rhythm. Tevin Ash landed a sack on a blown screen attempt, and Martin ate the ball instead of taking a chance on a throw.

Receptions for the Raiders went to Lloyd and Ware for almost an even amount. Darryl Beatty came up just short of another touchdown. He was tackled at the one as the Cowboys were caught in the blitz. Caulder punched it in from there.

Late in the 3rd quarter, the Cowboys had their other scoring chance. They made it inside the Raiders' five yard line. On 3rd and Goal, Martin looked for a man, but the Raiders had everyone covered in zone. Martin rolled right, trying to buy time. McClain slid with him in spy responsibility. Martin saw this, but with no one open, he ran anyway, trying to get an angle towards the sideline and McClain was able to drag him down for just a 1 yard gain to force a short field goal instead of a touchdown.

At the time, the score was 13-7, so a TD would have put the Cowboys on top with the Raiders not moving the ball much themselves.

            Week 11 - Midweek News

            NCAA Football News:

Boston College DT Connor Murphy has been deemed a "working-class hero" as he's been overlooked by the national media, but gives a high effort every game and every practice.

            NFL News:

AFC DPoW: RE Jarius Wynn (Steelers)
NFC DPoW: SS Jordan Sherrod (Saints)
AFC OPoW: QB Terry Carter (Jets)
NFC OPoW: QB Sam Bradford (Rams)

WR Michael Crabtree caught 2 TD passes to help the Jets win.

QB Sam Bradford threw six TD passes this week.

HB Julio Caulder found the end zone twice in a Raiders victory.

Looks like it's just Chargers vs Raiders for the division this year. Elsewhere, the Giants stand alone atop the NFL at 8-1.

            Next Game: Raiders (7-2) @ Ravens (5-4)

            Injury Report:

CB Shaquille Carillon is cleared to play.

WR Brad Smith had a set back of some sort. Doctors expected that he'd be ready this week, but will not heal in time for this week's game.

LB K.J. Wright suffered broken ribs in last week's contest and will miss the next three weeks.

            Roster News:

Carillon's return causes some conflict in the cornerback situation. Paris Cooper is again put at FS. Brandon Madison will remain a starter, so this puts Carillon in the nickle slot.

One would think K.J. Wright's absence frees up a slot for Olsen to start. That would be incorrect. Lyle is calling on Adrian McGruder, a rookie, to start in Wright's place. However, Olsen will likely see significant time on the right side with Ash being more a rush specialist.

            Progression:

            HB Julio Caulder
            CTH: 56 to 58
            RTE: 30 to 31

            DE Lamarr Houston

            FMV: 72 to 73

            LG Cale Welch
            AWR: 88 to 89

            WR Denarius Moore
            STR: 54 to 55

            LG Aaryn DePriest
            RBK: 87 to 88

            LB Jake Olsen
            POW: 87 to 88

            C Sergey Wainwright
            RBK: 86 to 87

            FS Antrel Rolle
            PRC: 79 to 80

            LB Tevin Ash
            PMV: 86 to 87

            RT Jeff Otah
            AWR: 82 to 83

            TE Lee Smith
            CTH: 64 to 66

            TE David Ausberry
            RBK: 58 to 60

            CB Brandon Madison
            AWR: 56 to 58

            Scouting:

Scouts took a long look at DE D.J. Capi (Louisville). He looks like a pure speed rusher with a developed basic technique. His burst off the line is solid and he's able to hold up all game long, a big improvement over Fields' lack of endurance. Definitely on the team's target list.

Schumacher Wins Battle of Harried QBs
Rookie Sacked Four Times, Hit Often But
Throws 2 TDs in Second Half. Raiders Win 20-3

Both quarterbacks had a first half to forget. Neither Schumacher nor Flacco were able to do anything. Both had under 40% completion percentage and had thrown 2 interceptions on some pretty ugly passes. Flacco's first pick was an ugly lob pass that Patrick Peterson jumped on for his 3 INT in 4 games, while the other was a deep throw that Tyvon Branch made a play on.

After that, Flacco seemed to go into a hole and not try to drive his offense.

Schumacher's two picks were equally painful. The first was a pass to Brandon Lloyd that Ladarius Webb undercut and snatched. The other was an overthrown pass due to pass rush that was picked off by Brandon Merriweather. The pass wasn't even close to Ware.

"I knew that one was trouble as soon as it left my hand, " Schumacher commented.

Neither defense allowed the turnovers to do much damage. Both sides had 3 points off the two turnovers.

The score was 6-3 at the half, and it looked like that might be the final score with how the defense were playing. The Raiders pulled back on the passing themselves for a while, but then got a kickstart to get back going. Julio Caulder was knocked out of the game.

The team did run with Morris for a significant amount of carries, the passing game had to get something done.

Schumacher got into some rhythm and worked the ball down the field in the 3rd quarter. He found Darryl Beatty, who, almost literally, all he does is catch touchdowns. He has 9 receptions, 4 TDs. That total is second only to Denarius Moore's 6 TDs.

In the fourth quarter, the play action pass game started working. He hit Ware on a deep crossing route off play action and then hit Ware again as Schumacher was able to wait for the right window in the zone to open. After a few more runs with Morris, another play action pass to Lloyd near the front corner of the end zone. Lloyd was able to get his feet down, then kick the pylon before getting knocked out of bounds to get the touchdown.

With the score 20-3, a clearly shaken up Flacco had to go to work. And he still couldn't get anything done. He was sacked two more times to run the total to seven on the day. He didn't throw any more interceptions, but he couldn't make any solid throws. Perhaps the telling pass of the day was on 4th and 15, he simply dumped it off to a check down receiver right in front of McClain for a 6 yard gain.

"It was great to pull myself together like that. That's a tough defense, and they are hard to figure out, and they don't give you much time to do it standing back there in the pocket, " Schumacher smiled.

Indeed, Schumacher was under duress all day, having to roll out and try to buy time and hit receivers on the move. The rookie, overall, got the job done.

Still, there's concerns about the Raiders pushing too much with the young QB. Grumblings are growing about changing to the style of offense McCoy used, just with Schumacher's better arm.

Also of concern are the injuries to Julio Caulder and Lamarr Houston. Although Houston's injury may be the least of the two. Shaughnessy is a capable end (picked up two sacks in relief) and Walters is strong from the other side as well. But Morris' struggles continue to underscore the 'something special' about Caulder that is difficult to put a finger on. Why is it that he's best able to take the brunt of the defense over other runners of similar skills like Morris or a different collection of dynamic skills in Grant, who also eventually wilted with facing a fresh defense consistently?

Those concerns will put a little damper on the 8-2 Raiders, who are on another 3-game winning streak. But, perhaps as long as the defense plays like it does, the team can endure anything offensively.

Raiders maintain the lead but the Chargers are also playing well, winning three straight to match.

                  Next Game: Chargers (6-4) @ Raiders (8-2)

                  Injury News:

WR Brad Smith is cleared to play this week and will join the team.

HB Julio Caulder is out with a thankfully minor injury. He will miss two weeks with an abdominal tear.

DE Lamarr Houston's injury will not keep him from playing this week.

                  Transactions:
Raiders sign DT Vince Wilfork for 4-years and $28 M.

"This doesn't change how we feel about Immanuel Dawn. It just means we'll have a great veteran for him to work with, should we get him, " a team official spoke.

Wilfork may have played his way back into the minds of the Raiders. He's been on a roll lately, pressuring the line of scrimmage for the last few games.

                  Roster News:

Brad Smith returns to take punt return duties and will join C.J. Gartner in kick returns.

Alfred Morris and Mikel Leshoure are likely to split time between them, perhaps almost evenly, according to sources.

Rookie linebacker Adrian McGruder notched two sacks last week and will start again this week on the heels of that performance.

Also, the team is going to change passing philosophy at the urging of the team's quarterbacks coach. Lyle was quick to note that the deep shots will be there, but "a little toned down".

Also of note, Rolando McClain notched his 100th tackle on the season in last week's game. This makes 6 consecutive seasons of 100+ tackles.

Re: Rebuilding the Fear - Oakland Raiders M13 CCM

The Best Offense is a Big Play Defense
Defensive Scores Early End Up Being
The Difference. Raiders Hang On 30-23.

The Raiders defense is looking pretty much unstoppable right now. They were fired up and right from the start, the make noise.

After the teams traded punts and the Raiders grabbed a field goal, the Chargers found themselves backed up by hustle on special teams, downing the punt inside the 10. The Raiders came out in their 46 package and sent Branch and Ash on a run blitz. The Chargers played right into it with an off-tackle run. Branch crushed the ball carrier and Ash looped around to scoop the fumble and walk into the end zone.

The defense wasn't done. Rivers was moving the ball downfield and found himself at the Raiders' door step for six. Or so he thought. The Raiders zoned out the end zone and put McClain in spy. Rivers felt pressure from Houston but was trapped by McClain guarding against a shotgun draw. Rivers tried to finesse a pass past the gambling Brandon Madison - except Madison won the bet and picked it off. Not happy with the interception, he took off out of the end zone. He was able to out run the pursuit to go the length of the field for a pick six.

After the defensive fireworks, the Raiders were up 17-3 with the offense having just one drive.

Unfortunately, the offense didn't do much all day, so there was no blowout to be had. The team did work the ball in for a touchdown thanks to Schumacher hitting Grant on a screen for a 3-yard score. That would be the best drive the offense would produce.

In the third quarter, Alfred Morris' struggles continued. He committed a fumble and the Chargers recovered. Later, he committed another fumble, but the play was overturned by the booth. Still, Lyle had seen enough and pulled Morris from the game. He wouldn't get another touch. Grant came in to start.

The running game under Grant and Leshoure showed some signs of life, but the offense was indeed sticking to the "toned down" deep attack. In fact, the team took just one shot. Schumacher rolled out and hit Lloyd on a Go route for 45 yards. That wasn't the intention on the play, but when he saw the safety off, he decided to take a shot deep and Lloyd rewarded the decision. That lead to the Grant TD reception.

Later in the game, the Raiders' special teams was decimated. Both returners were knocked out with Brad Smith having just come back from injury. This put the ball in Peterson's hands, who immediately coughed it up. Peterson had his worst day in a while in this game, perhaps his hot streak is over.

This fumble led to a rushing touchdown. Suddenly, the Chargers were climbing back in it. The Raiders have seen this act before. Rivers scored 3 TDs in a quarter in the past to come from behind, and it was starting to look like more of the same.

Late in the 4th quarter, Rivers used the hurry-up offense to attack and scored on a pass to Malcolm Floyd, beating Peterson in the process. This got the Chargers to within 7. The Raiders, though, were able to pick up a first down and bleed the timeouts and a lot of the clock from the Chargers.

Rivers had another chance, but this time the coverage held up with McClain coming close to an interception. The Raiders had held on and survived a 17-point rally.

"The Raiders are real fortunate they have such a big play defense, " a local analyst spoke, "This offense needs to get out of its own way. I know they are trying to diversify, but it's so obvious when Moore and Caulder aren't out there. And for all the 'big arm' this Schumacher has, he plays 'well' only with a short passing game? Really? This kid is not the answer."

Schumacher did manage the game well. He didn't throw an interception and the pass protection didn't help too much, though one sack he shouldn't have taken when he should have just thrown the ball away out of the pocket. He only had 175 yards, but he completed 63% of his passes, no interceptions and a touchdown.

Rivers, by contrast, racked up 350 yards, a touchdown, but the costly pick six that ended up being the difference in the game. Give the Chargers 3 from that drive and take 7 from the Raiders, and the Raiders lose 26-23.

But that is why they drafted Brandon Madison. He's strong hands and budding ball skills were attractive, and he's improving every week. Plays like this got him Defensive Rookie of the Year last year, and after adjusting a bit to starting every down, he's making similar plays again.

The Raiders improve to 9-2 and win a big divisional game, pushing the Chargers 3 back.

                      NFL News:

The Raiders creep closer to clinching the division and have tied the Colts for best AFC record. However, they will need to keep playing at a high level to give themselves the best chance at a bye.

                      Next Game: Raiders (9-2) @ Broncos (4-7)

                      Injury Report:

Shaquille Carillon will need a week to recover from his dislocated ankle.

Brad Smith suffered an abdominal tear and will need a couple weeks to recover.

C.J. Gortman got the worst news. He will be out 5 weeks with a broken collarbone.

Denarius Moore is back and ready to return to the active roster.

                      Roster News:

Fred Marshall and Patrick Peterson will get the call for kick returns and Jacoby Ford will hand punts.

TE Lee Smith was released, and TE Dwayne Allen signed off the waiver wire in his place. "Allen should provide a target for Schumacher over the middle, " Lyle commented. Allen does have decent ball skills for a TE.

Alfred Morris was benched, and it will be Mikel Leshoure getting the chance to start with Steven Grant at HB #2. Grant also hopes to continue being involved in the passing game in some capacity.

No surprise that Denarius Moore returns as #1 WR. Lloyd moves to the other side of the field as usual. Ware, for now, is #3, though if Darryl Beatty can find some consistency...

Rookie CB Heston Hill will move up to nickle cornerback this week with the injury to Carillon. Cooper remains at free safety.

                      Notable Progression:

                      CB Brandon Madison
                      AWR: 59 to 61

                      LB Jake Olsen
                      ZCV: 86 to 87

                      C Sergey Wainwright
                      PBK: 82 to 83

                      HB Steven Grant
                      CTH: 63 to 64

                      CB Shaquille Carillon
                      AWR: 75 to 76

                      Scouting:

The more the team scouts QB Lejon Jackson, the more he does remind them of Colt McCoy. His ability to give the play fake looks solid and deceptive enough for the NFL. His arm is still good, rated at 90, but the scouts were hoping for a bit more.

Could Xavier Slaughter be more effective than Steven Grant? That's what scouts are trying to hash out as they continue to scout the quick halfback. "Some say he's projectable to be both a threat as a receiver as well as an every down halfback. He might be the one that could help take the load off Caulder, maybe even let Julio [Caulder] take his shots against a tiring defense, " one local sportswriter commented. The quick feet (95 AGI grade) are just making scouts wonder if he could develop route running and turn into a Marshal Faulk type back.

WR Bryan Mills of UL Lafayette is a newly scouted prospect and he caught scouts' eyes with his very sharp routes. He also seems to display good hands so far. Could be one to target going forward.

Mistakes. Raiders Rally to Win in OT 25-19.

Oh, how this offense has missed Denarius Moore. Some analysts might not like how Schumacher plays, but it's times like this why they drafted the cannon-armed QB.

Fast forward to the 4th quarter, less than a minute to go and the Raiders have no timeouts after using them on defense to get the ball back. After a failed screen pass, the Raiders are stuck on their own 9 needing a touchdown to tie.

Schumacher called Moore's number for a couple first downs and Lloyd got one to move the chains. Still, the Raiders needed a big play. Schumacher called for the deep route to Schumacher. The Broncos had coverage deep, so Schumacher threw one 'short' of the Moore, who adjusted to the ball. Grimes, the Denver corner, tried to come up to make the hit, but Moore shrugged off the tackle attempt and made it into the end zone with 26 seconds left in the game.

Broncos get the ball and have all their time outs, so Freeman goes to work. He hits Manningham deep over the middle to get near mid field, and then gets another completion to get to the Raiders' 40. But instead of pushing for perhaps one more first down, they run the ball and set up for a 60-yd FG to win the game in the final seconds. The kick is up, has plenty of distance, but it slices wide right. Raiders kneel to run out the last second and the game heads to overtime.

Raiders win the toss and receive. After a couple runs, Schumacher called for Moore again to go deep. He took the shotgun formation and rolled out to buy time. Schumacher saw one-on-one coverage and fired it deep to Moore. The ball was under-thrown slightly, but this time knocked down by the wind and perhaps too much air under the moon shot of a pass.

Moore judged the ball and made a leaping catch before Grimes could adjust. Moore got his feet under him and turned Grimes around as he sprinted to the end zone. No one was going to catch him and he raised the ball as he crossed the end zone with the win.

The Raiders mobbed their star playmaker in the end zone and celebrated their fifth win in a row - second of which coming in overtime.

The offense felt a sense of relief after nearly giving away the game. Leshoure and Grant lost a fumble each and the offense in general kept putting the ball on the ground. Grant's fumble came after Rolando McClain picked off a pass to give the Raiders the first chance to tie the game. Grant was fighting for yards and looked like he had open space to make a big play, but a Denver defensive player ripped the ball out from behind as Grant was still trying to regain his balance.

Schumacher threw an interception trying to force a pass to Moore, but that time, Grimes got the better of the young QB.

The day amounted to 12 receptions for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns, the tying and winning scores, for Moore.

"It's always great when your best weapon is back in the game. Denarius [Moore] did the work after the catches and during the catches. I just threw the ball as hard as I could, " Schumacher spoke after the game.

The Broncos were able to put a few cracks in the defense, however. Pierre Thomas racked up 175 yards on the ground, but no touchdowns. Josh Freeman threw one touchdown and the one interception to McClain, piling up 288 yards in the process. Not the defense's greatest day as it seemed only Branch and McClain were really out there giving 100%. They combined for 25 tackles, a sack, and an interception.

UCF MLB Dan Dugan might be heading to the bench as he plays with a lack of range for a middle linebacker.

Iowa QB Jack Kane had a rough start, but rebounded to lead his team to a 9-3 record.

Raiders' magic number for clinching the division is one as the Chargers have fallen off the pace. Chiefs and Broncos are still in the Wild Card hunt, but they'd need to win out and get help. At most, the Chargers likely can afford just one more loss.

                          Injury Report:

The Raiders are on the mend, getting healthy at the right time. Caulder, Carillon, and Wright all return this week.

                          Roster Report:

K.J. Wright will start at LOLB this week in place of the rookie McGruder.

Carillon returns to this nickle cornerback slot.

Caulder returns to his HB #1 spot. Leshoure moves to #3 and Morris is a man without a spot right now, still in the dog house.

                          Scouting:

The Raiders put the timer on some of the wide outs the team was interested in.

C.J. Glass - graded out at a 95. Scouts were impressed with his smooth strides and fluid running motion. They anticipate he'll show well in pure acceleration as well.

Aaron Jones - 'quick as lightning, ' as one scout put it. Jones can fly. He earned a coveted 99 grade from scouts as he just was a joy to watch run. Whether or not the team can project a role for him is another matter. He has experience as a returner, but no vision for reading the blocks. His skills as a receiver are...lacking.

If any of these three were disappointments, Max Jones would be the one, and even then it's relative to the strong showing of the other two kids. Simpson, however, is the most 'football ready' as he has skills as a receiver. He has no instinct for kick returns, though - pretty much the opposite of the other two prospects.

Defensive Slugfest. Raiders Win 6th Straight 17-3

This game had defense written all over it from the start. The first quarter alone encountered four turnovers, two by each team.

The first quarter was scoreless, and much of the second was as well until Caulder broke off a 21-yd run, led by his buddy Marcel Reece, to score the first points of the game.

The Titans got a drive going after a Raiders punt and that created a FG for them. The game headed into the 4th being 7-3.

Neither offense still looked solid, but the Raiders started to get Caulder going a little more, knocking some of that rest off. Caulder also saw a few receptions go his way as well to help keep things going. Raiders score a FG to make it 10-3.

The defenses continued to throw their weight around. Philip Wheeler smacked his former team around for 9 tackles and Kameron Wimbley was on fire with 7 tackles. Jonathon Goff and Zach Brown were involved as well. Wimbley and Brown destroyed the Raiders' right edge in pass protection as well, picking up a combined 3 sacks. Brown also got a pick. Bob Sanders, being the wily veteran that he is, baited poor Schumacher into an interception.

"I thought I had Darryl [Beatty] open for a nice play. I saw the safety coming up and I was like, 'yeah, he's not going to get there' and then I watch as he picks off the pass. I was literally like 'What?! How did he get that?' " Schumacher commented.

On the Raiders' side, it's the usual suspects. McClain picked up 12 tackles. Ho hum, nothing to see there. Brandon Madison had 5, though he's struggling a bit down the stretch. Lamarr Houston tallied two sacks and frequent pressure on Henne. Jake Olsen remains something of a disappointment, but he did force a fumble in this game.

The first pick of Henne came on an underthrown pass. Carillon, fresh off the injury, snagged the errant pass. The second pick ended up sealing the game. The Raiders had the 10-3 lead, but Henne was looking to tie. But Patrick Peterson put a quick end to that, grabbing an interception and running it back for a touchdown.

The interception was Peterson's 4th and is a good sign for a team that was worrying if they had a big free agent bust on their hands.

The Raiders move to 11-2 and won their sixth in a row. However, three major injuries occurred, two on defense. All three had to be carted off the field. Wilfork and rookie Keiwone Walters were the casualties on the defensive side. Brandon Lloyd suffered an injury trying to catch a high pass that left his midsection exposed.

Quinterrius Fields hit the field and picked up a sack on 4th and long on the Titans' last play of the game.

                                Injury News:

News is bad on this front. Getting WR Brad Smith back is offset by three major injuries to report.

DT Vince Wilfork is out for 7 weeks and will be placed on injured reserve due to depth concerns (the team would have only 5 active DL in total to fill four spots).

WR Brandon Lloyd is also out 7 weeks, but will not be placed on IR at this time. The team has enough healthy WR to manage, unless someone else also suffers injury, in which case Lloyd would likely be placed on IR to free a roster spot.

DE Keiwone Walters is out for 3 weeks with the same injury as Wilfork (broken collarbone).

                                Roster News:

Jacoby Ford will get time at #3 WR while Ware moves up to #2.

Brad Smith returns to his KR/PR duties.

Quinterrius Fields and Matt Shaughnessy will split duty at RE this week. Fields will come in on the more passing oriented defensive sets as Shaughnessy is better able to stand in against the run and takes physical punishment better.

DT Kyle Love was signed to take Wilfork's spot, but it will be the two youngsters, Jordan McCown and Keon Howard, that will start on the interior line this week.

                                Notable Progression:

                                BCV: 78 to 79

                                Scouting:

Lyndell Robinson (Tennessee) might actually be a half-decent SS prospect. He is very raw, and will need a lot of film study to get up to speed, but he has the raw physical talent the team is looking for at first glance: speed, explosiveness, and power. He also seems to have the foundation of good coverage, he just needs to learn how interpret what the offense is showing him. He's expected to go in the late 5th round.
