Two years. This is the end of the cycle, "Class 30"

Next year is "Class 1". Maeweather is in "Class 2". If this was the Maeweather draft - you'd have seen me fawn over in the scouting reports

    Maeweather WILL be mine. Period.

As far as needs - STILL looking for a #2 to Moore (Sidney Rice hopefully solves that), free safety is a joke. Tyvon Branch is getting on my nerves, but Mike Mitchell is bad as an every down player...so put SS on the list (if I could, I'd put Jake Olsen as SS - he's got enough SPD, ZCV, POW, and AWR for it - and in the 46 he could still help vs the run). We actually need more LB depth to run the packages I'd like (read, whatever gets Ash from running in coverage). I don't like the HB behind Caulder.

Going from Schumacher to McCoy would be...like WTF in terms of differences. Might need to get a stronger-arm backup and make Colt #3.

Kick and punt returners who can actually STAY HEALTHY would be nice, too.

      Some quick Preseason "rumor leaks".

Takuei Griggs vs Julio Caulder in preseason? Could be.

Lamonte Brown better than Steven Barker?

WR Mills has 90s in SPD, ACC, RTE, and KR...could he be a diamond in the rough?

At 75 injury, do you notice the difference in injury prone guys versus really durable guys? And is it just the injury rating that determines the likelihood, or does toughness play a role? I never really payed too much attention to the injury ratings to the guys getting hurt. However, for me Sidney Rice is down a lot, he may struggle to stay on the field for you, very injury prone!

Maeweather is really good, I got smoke and him in my online ccm. 1st overall with smoke and 2.1 for Maeweather.

            Big difference.

An example - McClain has yet to miss a game, and my corners rarely miss any time at all (all 90+ INJ) with Carillon being the bad luck exception (twice). The low 80's guys - they'll miss some games. The 70's? It's a 50/50 proposition they'll get through a game unharmed. Anything lower than that is playing russian roulette.

Toughness impacts the injury duration, and probably if minor enough, the chance he'll get the choice to come back or not (out for game vs out for some time and getting the option). Might impact things like Bruised Ribs, which a guy can play, with some decreases, and Broken Ribs, that's an out for weeks injury.

Not very high I don't believe - definitely a project in AWR and catching.

And getting Maeweather AND Smoke - bet the teams in your division just love playing you twice a year.

Woah, Demeco Ryans to Harbaugh's Panthers! Sweet.
Russell Wilson to the Skins? Nice job CPU
In my previous CCM, Jack Kane started at an 85 and I progressed him to a 93. Gary Pruitt's good, as is Ronald Dunson.
Luck to the Eagles? I've seen him go to the Chargers several times not the Eagles. Cool.
              Panthers get RG3?! Go Harbaugh!
Kane to the Vikings? Should be good for them.
Dunson went to the Rams in mine as well.

They aren't screwing around. RG3, Okoye Jones, Ryans (to go with Beason) McGahee - they are trying to improve)

I think both got poor storylines in mine. Kane's THP is only 76... that's worse than Colt McCoy. His accuracy is decent for a rookie as is the AWR (75), but they will need to work on that THP. If he has good DEV rating, then that should at least help.

Dunson got poor interviews in mine - that knocked down his AWR (60). His accuracy is questionable (77/75/70), but he's got a rocket arm (96 THP). Gonna depend on how he develops.

Yep, big upgrade to old pal Terrelle Pryor, though Luck's AWR is a bit disappointing (76). That said, he could be a fast Peyton Manning if the Eagles get that up. 82 SPD with awesome throwing ratings, including PAC and TOR.

I'm noticing teams sticking close to their "identities" even with fictional/different coaches. Very interesting. Pryor did well in the Eagles system. I'm expected Luck to dominate the NFC.

Cooper Ballad looks rather interesting. He's Luck's "replacement". I can see upside in him. Strong arm (95 THP) and decent deep ball (81 DAC) - just needs to learn the short and intermediate game and give him a clean pocket because he's definitely a pure pocket passer.

I put development to "Weekly" to try to get more emphasis on ratings development from the CPU. I put it on Every 4 Weeks and saw more ratings going up. Hopefully, this will continue to help that trend.

AWR is 37 - but if there's one place that might not hurt as much, it's WR. Could just give him quick, simple routes, which he'll usually have if he is 4th WR.

I'm loving these "grab bag" players. They are fun to spend low round picks on. See what you get - like a better version of the UDFAs in M12.

                    2016 Dawns
                    Raiders Expected to Defend Title
                    as Team is Considered Elite

Expectations are growing for Ander Lyle. He's got the Raiders on the map again in the NFL and his run of success has hung the "Super Bowl or Bust" sign around him and the team. Fortunately, the Raiders still look like a solid squad, but no team is perfect...

                    Rookie Ratings

Here's how the scouts break down the Raiders' draft selections now that they have had some time with them in training camp.

DT Immanuel Dawn - Superior power and the only thing is his pass rushing skills are missing is refinement and experience. If he can develop some advanced pass rush techniques, he could allow use to put A-gap pressure on the QB. Against the run, he has enough physicality to occupy and get off blocks and pursue the ball carrier. He is smart and reads the OL movements, but seems to hesitate off the snap as a result. That's our biggest concern right now. Overall: 78, Top 3 skills: STR (96), PMV (90), BSH (85). Rookie season projection: 2nd string defensive tackle. Career projection: Starting 4-3 defensive tackle

TE Karl Kruger - He is a receiving TE that is likely going to do best running seam routes or other relatively simple routes. Those, he'll run with his explosiveness off the line and excellent speed for his 6' 7", 259-pound frame. Complex routes are best run as a decoy, same for sharp-cut routes like corners or outs. Seams, slants, curls, drags - those are where he'll make his money as a young player. Needs to work on his blocking as well. Overall: 75, Top 3 skills: SPD (88), ACC (89), SPC (85). Rookie Projection: Starting tight end. Career projection: Starting tight end.

OLB Davarius Bullock - There are three things that concern me about Davarius, conditioning, coverage, pass rushing. There are three things I love about Davarius, explosiveness, quick feet, raw power. I think Davarius will be fine in general, but Lyle is looking to start him, and I wonder if he'll have the endurance to give a consistent effort through a prolonged series. He'll also have a hard time beating most pass blockers, perhaps including backs in the backfield. That said, if he can come clean as a free runner, look out. Overload blitzes involving him could be a plus use of him. His coverage isn't as bad as Tevin Ash, but, like Ash, Davarius should never be matched up one-on-one with any meaningful threat. However, the sky is the limit for this kid, especially if he learns either pass rushing or zone coverage. Overall: 84, Top 3 skills: POW (98), ACC (91), AGI (90)
Rookie projection: Blitz specialist OLB. Career projection: Starting 4-3 Run stopping OLB.

HB Takuei Griggs - I really like this kid and can see why the team was praised for selecting him. Personally, I think he is a fast version of Caulder, which could be very scary for defenses. The only thing Caulder has on him, aside from experience, is that violent running style this system loves. Caulder is more Jerome Bettis or Jamal Lewis - best used inside, pounding out yards, loves contact, and elusive enough to avoid the big hit and uses leverage to power through. Griggs seems more like a Ray Rice - more shifty than outright elusive, low and hard to tackle, with the strength to stay balanced while running in traffic, and the speed to break it wide open if he gets the chance. Both styles can be effective for this team. Griggs seems like what you'd get if you crossed Caulder with Grant, and Griggs seems more refined, both as a runner and in technique than either of those two. Overall 78, Top 3 skills: SPD (94), ACC (96), CAR (95). Rookie projection: Starting halfback. Career projection: Pro-Bowl halfback.

WR Fabian Favors - Fabian is the lastest to join our WR carousel, and there's potential here. He's not great at anything, but he's not terrible either. Biggest concerns are footwork in and out of cuts, and ability to beat press coverage. Mastering the mechanics of route running could help with the footwork, and the rest of his game has a solid foundation to help him see the field with some regularity. Overall 73, Top 3 skills: SPD (91), CTH (85), AWR (80). Rookie season projection: Slot WR, Career Projection: Solid #2 WR.

WR Bryan Mills - A project with potential upside, Bryan is one to keep around if we can spare the roster space. If nothing else, his kick return skills are a plus and will get him on the field. Beyond that, the enticing combination of solid athleticism and excellent, veteran-level route running is easy to project if the other skills come around. I am concerned about his small frame and ability to take hits, however. He's also going to need a lot of film study and coaching to learn how to process the rapid fire information that comes to NFL players, both on and off the field and during and between plays. Definitely an interesting prospect. Overall: 60, Top Skills: SPD (91), RTE (90), RET (90). Rookie season projection: Return specialist, Career Projection: Slot WR.

                    Round 7:
FS Lamonte Brown - Lamonte was this year's Mr. Irrelevant. Lamonte is not a terrible prospect. His ability to read plays is at an NFL-average level as is the power in his tackles and hits. He's not the fastest player on the field, but has some foundation in zone coverage. That combined with his play diagnosing could help him overcome his lack of raw speed, especially in the future. What really exacts me, and I think coach Lyle as well, is his hands/ball skills. He grades out as average...for a wideout. That could be a big weapon in the secondary. See: Brandon Madison - it's the one thing that got him on the field and allowed him to vault to not only starting corner, but win Defensive Rookie of the Year as a nickle corner. Overall: 67, Top 3 skills: AGI (88), SPD (86), POW (83). Rookie season projection: Backup free safety. Career Projection: Starting free safety.

                    Preseason Roster Invitees

MLB Bobby Wagner - 89 (!) SPD, 90 POW, 93 TAK - can you say make the roster?
QB Brock Osweiler - Just like Schumacher...only half as smart
TE Dwayne Allen - Bring back a familar face to challenge Kruger
LG Daniel Thomas - Back up guard with run blocking skill
LT Bruce Campbell - Quick off the line
WR Justin Blackmon - Good bet to make the team, if only as an insurance policy

                      Preseason Wrap Up

                      Week 1

                      Hall of Fame:
SS Troy Polamalu will take a place in the hallowed halls of Canton. Justin Smith and James Harrison, however, will have to wait until next year for an opportunity.

Raiders traded disgruntled SS Mike Mitchell to Arizona for the ARI 2018 #2.

Adrian McGruder is receiving a surprising amount of interest, including first round picks in 2018 (a.k.a the "Maeweather draft") from several of the offers...

Stefen Wisniewski is also seeking a trade, but the team will want more than 4th to 7th round picks. The team would find a spot for him before accepting those types of offers.

The Bobby Wagner signing by the Raiders has the NFL buzzing.

                      Trade Rumors

As always, the preseason is loaded with upset and otherwise unwanted players who would like new opportunities. Among those players is HB Sylvester Sanders of the Falcons. He looks like a Caulder clone, could be perfect to have as a handcuff of sorts for if/when Caulder gets injured, as he has the past couple seasons. However, the Falcons got a strong offer from the Bills, which is thought to include a 1st round pick, a price the Raiders weren't willing to consider.

Other players include FS Tanard Jackson, LG Carl Gallego, WR Lunior Marsh, and RG Jah Reid.

In the games this week - the Broncos sacked the quarterback 10 times...looks like their pass rush will be humming coming Opening Week.

                      Raiders Signings

SS Atari Bigby - replaces Mike Marshall
CB Casey Hayward - fills out cornerback depth

                      Week 2

The second week of the preseason kicked of with two more disgruntled Raiders being sent packing. DT Vince Wilfork and MLB Adrian McGruder were sought after by the Vikings to fill two of their top 3 needs. The Raiders added on their 2nd round pick in 2017 to get the Vikings 1st and 3rd in 2018 and 5th in 2017.

"An interesting trade as the Raiders continue to be the league's middle linebacker factory. They deal another top prospect along with a 2nd round pick. Wilfork is a nice addition, but pretty much equated with the 5th thrown on - basically, this deal was a 1st and Wilfork for a next year 1st and 3rd and this year's 5th. Reasonable as 1st's go for that in the draft and Wilfork for a 5th should help the Vikings significantly on the D-Line, " Todd McShay commented.

When asked how Suh felt about losing Wilfork, he commented, "Fine by me. I can take care of the middle myself. Besides, I'll enjoy playing next to the younger version of me [referring to Immanuel Dawn] - I'll teach him [Dawn] a few things and we can dominate in the middle for the next four years at least. "

For the second week in a row, the Raiders missed out on a power halfback, this time HB Dwyer from the Cardinals. And, again, he went for a 1st round pick, this time from the Titans.

"Last year, you could trip and fall over an available power back. This year, they are going for 1st round picks all over the place, " one analyst commented.

Teams have made offers for Carillon too, but the Raiders are shutting those down as well as for Wisniewski.

"We have defined roles for these players and are not interested in trading them, " a team source commented.

The offers are improving for the two players - but there's no indication in the front office that the team is looking to deal them.

On the field, Griggs is impressing a lot of people, and might be pushing hard for playing time. Lyle continues to emphasize that Caulder is his man, however. Caulder, through his play, is also saying 'not so fast, guys'. He's been running hard all preseason, seemingly driven even further by the prospect of a challenge for his job.

Kruger is showing good signs as well, and Schumacher seems comfortable throwing to the big tight end. That bodes well for both of them.

The Rice and Moore combo might work well, but it's Blackmon, the signed-on player in preseason, that's really showing well. Could he be the starter opposite of Moore?

Tyvon Branch seems like a man on a mission. He and McClain are pretty much the last "original Raiders" left on the defensive side, especially of the "original starters" when Lyle took over. (Houston is the other starter). Perhaps that's sparking something inside him to take his game to the next level (finally).

Lamarr Houston suffered a minor injury, but he will miss the rest of preseason, and perhaps Opening Week as well.

                      Week 3

"Just stop already." That is what Lyle came out and said. Why? Teams continue to make offers on Wisniewski and Carillon. The media continues to fan the rumors and now they have spread to Keon Howard, who was taken off guard.

"What the ****? Me? Who said I wanted out?" Howard was overheard saying in the locker room when told by Moore of the rumors involving him.

On the field, the team is getting going now. Schumacher threw 3 TD passes before being pulled and the pass rush is coming in from all sides.

The defense is starting to get going with the hybrid fronts, though performance has been better in the 3-4. In particular, the 1-5-5 and the 1-4-6 has so far allowed for a lot of pressure on the quarterback, forcing mistakes. This is bringing up some debate among the staff and position coaches about whether a strict 3-4 would be best, taking a 4-3 base and modifying it, or if going with a mixed style that trades specialization for deception is best.

Raiders also had to make a cut today. WR Daniel Raymond was the casualty.

Elsewhere around the league, one news-making cut happened as the Titans released Chris Johnson, stunning the league. The Raiders could not resist and are considering something unorthodox - kick returner.

"What better return man than a guy who's got his kind of speed and quickness and some one used to running in the open field?" One analyst spoke.

Steven Grant has been underwhelming of late. Is he the casualty here? Or perhaps it's Leshoure, who's also been unimpressive? The team could eat the bonus money to free the slot for a veteran with Johnson's track record.

One wonders, though, would CJ2K just be a kick returner? While Caulder and Griggs fight for the bulk of the carries, Johnson certainly could have some uses in other ways, including Grant's hopeful niche as backfield receiving threat...

                      Week 4

QB Kurt Warner lands with a team at last. In fact, it's a familiar franchise - the Arizona Cardinals. Unimpressed by a quarterback group led by Brandon Weeden, the Cardinals picked up the returning veteran signal-caller.

Julio Caulder suffered a minor injury, but will be held out of the season opener for precautionary reasons. The team released HB Mikel Leshoure, and has announced that Griggs will start with Charles Johnson as the #2 HB.

With the freed roster spot, the team added to it's linebacker depth, adding OLB Darveon Henderson.

The Raiders finish the preseason at 3-1, a strong showing overall. Nothing surprising in the way of position battles aside from the Griggs/Caulder scenario. Griggs will get the fire the first shot.

The team is continuing to down play the trade rumors, but something may have to be done to quiet them - which might include finding out of the players actually do want to stay...or if they are simply attempting to save face.

                        Opening Week - Midweek News

                        NCAA Football:

Texas CB Arik Casher is considered the top corner in the nation right now, thanks to the number of picks he has this season.

HB D'Cota Bell returned to UCLA to try to win another national championship.

                        NFL News:

The Seahawks signed WR Marquis Colston.

QB Kurt Warner signs on with the Cardinals and is named the team's starting quarterback - right off the street.

The Dolphins and Vikings finished the preseason with 4-0 records.

                        Raiders News

The team isn't letting the media-fueled, or at least assumed media-fueled rumors get in their heads. The team finished strong in pre-season, losing largely because the back-ups got most of the playing time, though there were some issues as well.

"What ever it is and where ever it's coming from, I'm going to put a stop to it, and I better not find out it's coming from this locker room, " Lyle spoke, addressing both a reporter and his team.

                        Injury Report:

DE Lamarr Houston will miss this week's game with a shoulder tear. He suffered the tear during preseason and doctors feel he needs this week to rest to ensure full recovery.

HB Juilo Caulder suffered a knee injury, which is a scare moment for any halfback. Team doctors wanted to take no chances, and they kept Caulder out this week.

                        Roster News:

Justin Blackmon couldn't win out over Sidney Rice for the #2 WR spot, but he should still see playing time as the Raiders have no qualms about using three wide receivers.

Griggs and Chris Johnson are the top two HB on the roster this week. Grant will stay in his usual 3rd down role.

                        Scouting:

Could it be? A free safety prospect? Lamel Seawood (Miami) could be that prospect. Early look at him shows him playing fast and displaying pure speed. He also has delivered some hard hits to would-be receivers in pass defense. One knock on him is that he does seem late on some reads, making up for his mistake with his quickness. A high-3rd projection at this point.

WR Akia Green (Utah) is the latest wideout prospect the team likes. This projected 5th round kid has plenty of physical ability according to initial reports. Corners can't stay with his combination of route running and quick feet. He catches the ball decently, but there's some concern about his effort, or lack off, for passes that aren't right on target. He's had a few run ins with his QB as a result, especially when it leads to a pick.

                        Notable Progression:

                        FS Steven Barker
                        PRC: 75 to 77

                        DE Keiwone Walters

This team is resembling mine in a lot of ways! I am hoping to have a different draft class than you do. I feel like you are doing some scouting for me sometimes!

How is Suh doing for you? I have had trouble with him being productive for me.

No Avail. Chargers, Raiders Draw 19-19.

What kind of season will this be, starting the season off with a tie of all things?

The Raiders offense couldn't get much going on the ground as the offensive line had a horrible day. They could not pick up the blocks they needed to, and the quarterback paid for it, even leaving the game with an injury.

Schumacher left for some plays during a critical two-minute drive to try to tie the game at 16 in regulation. Schumacher rolled right to buy time and saw Moore singled up in man coverage. He waited as long as he could and let fly a big bomb downfield. Moore nearly had the great catch, but the ball slipped out of his grasp from the hit by the cornerback on the way down.

Brock Osweiler came in and picked up with no problem. He completed the next two passes down field to move the Raiders into field goal range. Schumacher came back in, and immediately got sacked. The next play, he wasn't able to get enough time to complete the pass, forcing Janikowski to try a 58-yard FG. His big leg put the ball through and tied up the game.

In overtime, the Raiders won the toss and took the ball. The offense continued to struggle on the ground, but the team got into field goal range. Janikowski put up another long field goal.

Chargers get the ball and start moving down the field. Xavier Slaughter showed why the team thought highly of him last year, sliding through holes and showing his nimble footwork. Rivers completed perhaps the only long pass on the day to Bennett, who beat Brandon Madison. Madison gambled for the interception, but misjudged the ball to allow the completion.

Rivers hit Bennett again, and then Slaughter picked up another first down. However, the defense rose up with some pressure on the QB of its own. Davarius Bullock came off the edge to pick up a sack on second down, then Tevin Ash attacked from the left side with McClain and Bullock coming from the right. McClain was picked up by Slaughter's cut block, but the pressure forced Rivers to drift to his left - straight into the sights of Ash, who didn't miss. Bullock was closing in as well to keep Rivers trapped.

This set up a 41-yard attempt to keep overtime going. A miss would give the Raiders the win. However, the kick was right down the middle and the game was tied at 19.

That's how it would end as the Raiders tried to simply get into Janikowski range, given how the offense struggled. They were not able to do even that. They stopped short of midfield and the Hail Mary pass went unanswered. The game ended in a tie.

Denarius Moore picked up 177 yards on 9 receptions, many of them on one long catch-and-run that nearly went for a score. Sidney Rice had a solid showing with 61 yards on 5 receptions. Xavier Slaughter ran the ball over 40 times, and left in 4th quarter with an injury that was feared to be severe. He had 152 yards and a touchdown. Takuei Griggs got what he could, and did find the end zone. Charles Johnson struggled, but did make a key catch in overtime to keep the field goal drive going.

"Tough game to evaluate the runners as the offensive line was a sieve, " an analyst commented, "They are lucky Schumacher didn't suffer a major injury."

There were plenty of injuries on the Raiders' side, though. The team anxious waits for information on a few players who could not return to the game.

Perhaps in what is a sign of a crazy season - Janikowski made four 50+ yard field goals in the game. He missed one field goal. The distance? 24 yds.

                              Injury Report:

Mixed news on the injury front. The good news is that Lamarr Houston and Julio Caulder are back with the team. Also good is that RT Jeff Otah suffered just a minor injury and will be ready for this week's game. WR Justin Blackmon is also ready after suffering a game-long injury early in last week's game.

                              The bad news...

CB Fred Marshall broke his thumb during a kick return and is expected to miss 3 weeks.

RE Keiwone Walters suffered a broken collarbone and will miss the next 5 weeks.

                              Roster News:

Immanuel Dawn will move up to starting nose tackle as Ndamukong Suh will move to the right defensive end spot to replace Keiwone Walters.

Takuei Griggs will get the first shot at being Caulder's back up since he did 'better' last week, though there may be an overall rotation between Griggs and Johnson.

Bryan Mills will join Chris Johnson on kick returns.

                              Notable Progression:

                              WR Denarius Moore

Long-time reader here, big fan of your 'chise. Since your rise to ascension has come so fast, how many more seasons do you expect to play with the Raiders? I imagine being that becoming a dynasty so quickly decreases the game's replay value, at least from my own experience.
