    Pie Charts
All are based on the actual production stats of the players at that position.

(Fullback Production left with Reece to TE - Mulligan isn't used on rushes and has no receptions)

(Offense and Defense seem balanced in production, which is interesting because I would have though defense was leading a bit, though the offense does move the ball - it's...just not pretty)

        Raiders Slaughtered
        Pryor's Struggles Again Without Moore
        Defense Collapses, Lose 55-20

All the good things about the team can be thrown out as this game just showed this team is still weak in too many places.

"This was terrible effort. We made that mediocre Matt Cassel look like Dan Marino. Five touchdowns? Really? What a disgrace, " Coach Lyle spoke.

The Raiders did indeed allow 5 TD passes to Cassel. It is unknown why the secondary came out so flat and just refused to cover the receivers.

The run defense was no better, giving up 8.9 yards per carry to Jamaal Charles and 5.9 per to his backup B. J. Graves. Johnaton Baldwin did a lot of damage against the Raiders, 153 yards and 2 TDs. Steve Breaston picked up 3 TDs.

For the Raiders, Reece was the go-to receiver as the team continues to miss Moore. Ford was unreliable, dropping some catchable balls. Williams was better, but his routes weren't as sharp when facing the team's top cornerback as he's playing as the #1 receiver.

The Chiefs pulled even with the Raiders at 5-3 after this debacle. The Raiders now have to go on the road, always a nervous time of things for this bunch. The Lions are up next.

"I know one thing, " one analyst spoke, "Pryor is digging his own grave right now. He's showing that it wasn't him, but it was Denarius [Moore] that made him look good. He's been awful in the three games without Denarius on the field."

Moore and teammate Quinterrius Fields return for Week 10.

        Injury News:
WR Moore and DE Fields are both cleared to play. TE Gordon is expected to return next week.

        Scouting News:

Some more interesting WR prospects emerge.

Dominque Holden from West Virginia. Holden is a not the biggest kid at 6' 1", but he has good quickness and shows courage going into tight zones and holds on through contact. Sometimes will get lazy and turn into a body-catcher instead of a hands-catcher, though.

Daniel Raymond from Notre Dame is another who has excellent raw speed. What was surprising, though, is his consistent hands and good ball awareness. His routes need sharpening, though, but that is something that can be worked on over time. If that's the only blemish on a 7th round projection, then this kid is certainly one to take a chance on.

MLB Davis Shrum has exceptional speed for a linebacker, and might have skills in coverage as well. The main knock on him is diagnosing plays, definitely an issue on a linebacker, but with that kind of speed, he could work as an outside linebacker for when the team moves Olsen inside.

          Welcome Back, Moore!
Moore's Big Day Helps Raiders Overcome
          Another Defensive Meltdown, Win 47-35

The defense again failed to stop the opposing team, marking the second game in a row where the unit has faltered badly.

Fortunately, the Pryor-to-Moore connection is alive and well, putting up 2 TDs and 153 yards. The touchdowns were both of Pryor's TD passes, further fueling the idea that he can't hit anyone else with any reliability.

Julio Caulder also had a strong day, putting up 2 TDs of his own and 173 yards on the ground. Caulder's acquisition sparked controversy, but all the critics are hushed by his 883 yards and 10 TDs in his 7 games as a Raider.

Matt Stafford was injured in the game and the Lions kept him out despite the injury not being serious. It didn't matter as Shaun Hill racked up 330 yards and 2 TDs on the day. The Raiders' DBs were at a loss trying to stay with Megatron and company all day long.

Mikel Leshoure added 2 TDs on the ground as the run defense was gashed once again.

Quinterrius Fields picked up 2 sacks in his return and Rolando McClain grabbed an interception and returned it for a TD, serving as the only defensive highlights.

Julio Caulder had a third touchdown called back on a questionable holding call. "The refs felt sorry for those guys, that's all that was, " Caulder joked.

Taiwan Jones got some action in this one. The idea of trying to exploit fatigue caused by Caulder's pounding runs worked again as Jones broke a 79-yard TD run on his first carry of the game.

Moore gets the press, but Marcel Reece continues to be a worthy option. He nearly scored his first 100-yard game, thanks to a great diving catch on a deep ball. The throw was not great, but at least it was to open field and Reece could lay out without fear.

The win put the Raiders at 6-3, and with the Chiefs losing, the team is back on top in the AFC West. Next, the team heads to Buffalo to face a fellow 6-3 team in the Bills. This game could be an early playoff preview as well as a potentially meaningful game down the road for playoff seeding.

          Notes:
Rolando McClain won AFC Defensive Player of the Week..."Fullback" Marcel Reece is as close to a unanimous choice for his position at the Pro Bowl as it can get. He has 138,000 votes, while James Casey (Steelers) has just 28,000..***mors abound coach Lyle being pressured by fans to let Pryor run more...reportedly, Lyle responded by saying "No, he runs when he needs to, the speed let's him do more damage, but it's not his primary weapon."

          Scouting News:

As the pass defense struggles more, CB prospects get more attention from the team scouts. CB Rannell Sharp from Lindenwood is one of those prospects. Scouts noticed good ball skills, helping him recover from rough coverage technique. CB Brandon Madison is slammed by scouts for his lack of ball awareness, but do like the base of his man coverage technique, and remains on the team radar. Neither player is projected highly by consensus. Sharp is a low-5th and Madison is thought to be a high-6th selection...

WR Sean Hill is getting more positive press, something the Raiders hope keeps eyes off its top prospect WR, D'Andre Ware...Daniel Raymond is another WR the team hopes stays under the radar...

Team scouts have avoided taking a look at CB Vaetuitonga Taue'etia for two reasons...one, the team doesn't have a first round pick this year, and two...his name. While scouts still hate his name, the team's poor performance against the pass is making them re-think the first objection. "We might need to deal our first next year to get into the first round and take a top flight defender..." one scout commented.

The classes of outside linebackers and safeties the last two years have completely disappointed team scouts. They may have found a free safety they can tolerate. Maybe. Jabbar Reyna is a hard hitter that might have top end speed. His coverage is only average, and his ball awareness is terrible, however.

They only linebackers that are somewhat impressive remain the fast middle linebacker Davis Shrum and not-as-fast-but-a-harder-hitter Tanner Bailey. "We might have a team of middle linebackers at this rate, " a team scout commented, "They are the only ones coming out worth a damn so far."

            Defense Bounces Back
Caulder Breaks 1,000 yard mark in
support of defense, Raiders win 30-9

Julio Caulder's rookie campaign continues to impress. This time, the young man kept pounding the ball at the defense, taking consistent, if short, runs to keep moving the ball and wearing out the defense. Then, late in the game, he broke one for 45 yards to give him a nicer looking box score. He iced the game with a 2-yard run, his second score of the day. He broke past the 1,000 yard mark and has 13 TDs.

Neither passing attack really got going. Both Pryor and Fitzpatrick had a hard time finding holes in the opposing coverage, combining for 5 interceptions. Pryor threw 2 INTs and a TD pass to Marcel Reece. Fitzpatrick had no such TD luck.

Moore picked up 100 yards, but was held out of the end zone. Other than Reece, no other Raiders player made much impact in the passing game. Reece and Moore combined for 15 of Pryor's 20 completions on the day.

Michael Huff added a safety in the 4th quarter. McClain grabbed another interception and had a nice return, but Spiller caught him to prevent McClain's second defensive TD in two weeks. Carillion picked off his 3rd pass of the season and Joselio Hanson got his first.

The win puts the Raiders at 7-3. The team's lead expanded to two games as both the Chargers and Chiefs lost. The Raiders have a Thanksgiving game against the 3-7 Jaguars.

Notes: Former Raiders QB Carson Palmer (now with the Browns) won AFC Offensive Player of the Week...HB Darren McFadden is having no such luck for the Buccaneers. McFadden is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry...Tyvon Branch might be heading back to cornerback, this time exchanging places with Paris Cooper. Cooper would become the starting strong safety while he refines his man coverage...

            Injury News:
The only player on the injury report is CB Woodfaulk, who's on injured reserve. This is about as healthy as the team has been all year, perhaps coming together at the perfect time.

            Scouting News:
With the 3-4 in mind, the team looked at some defensive tackles. Aaron Robinson remains high on the list while Damiere Boyd from Central Michigan is on the team's list as well. Boyd is 6' 5" and weighs in at 334 pounds...and knows how to use it.

At RE, Austin Hawkins might be up there on the team's target list as well. He's 6'5, 310 lbs out of Rutgers and impresses with his strength and power rushing techinque.

Scouts took a look at CB Taue'etia. He looks like a well-rounded cornerback, but the question with him is speed - does he have enough to stay with speed burners on the outside?

The Caulder acquisition is paying of really nicely!

Caulder, Moore and Reece at TE are looking like some studly building blocks.

Yep, the makings of an offense are there for sure.

The defense...that's a different story...McClain is solid. Jake Olsen might be good - he'll get the most chance to prove it. Tackling is not lockdown, though. Ash is a pass rusher, period. 25 MCV and 50 ZCV is not going to work. At least in the 3-4, he'll get to be a pass rush OLB.

Fields - not sure what to do with him. He's not a 3-4 DE. Maybe he can be molded into one...Guess we could trade him if need be.

Hopefully, I'll get that uber strong LG and then the rest solid defense in the draft - tempting HB and WR out there though, not to mention that QB Blane Giles - better version of Pryor perhaps... I would go with Jones as HB #2 since Caulder+Jones can be a good combo, but I don't get why he fumbles so much.

For Jones invest in the "brace against hits" trait. If you can get it to brace against all hits and have his carry decent you should be good to go. Down side is it cost 10,000 xp to boost and depending on where it is now could take a couple times so it may not be worth it. It does work though. McGahee had something like 90 carry but was having fumbling issues. Upped his trait and it pretty much fixed it.

Sounds like Ash is a pure 3-4 rusher. That guy is comically bad in coverage.

Field woulds probably have to go unless you could move him to OLB. He could probably be a good outside rusher only.

For Taiwan, I'd look into what tdawg said. It makes sense for the 'brace for hits' trait to impact him covering up.

Another receiver would be good for Pryor/Giles. Having Moore, Reece and another WR to go along with a pair of solid backs makes me want to play as the Raiders, haha.

I think I'll get it for Caulder too. I think he's one step from "Brace vs All" and if he keeps having success, 10 K is nothing, and he's already met the lofty expectation of 600 yards, so he'll get the max season goal award - I think that's, what, 25 K for a Superstar Dev HB with the XP Upgrade?

The Raiders give this one up on turnovers if nothing else. This demon is still tormenting the team, and it's mostly fumbles lost as Pryor threw just one interception in 49 attempts. The turnovers hurt even more as the team is not adept at generating takeaways.

Caulder lost one fumble, an issue that pops up for him, but even more inexcusable was TE-turned-FB Mulligan fumbling on the one carry the team gave him.

"And he wonders why I don't call his number?" Coach Lyle commented, "That **** is why. Dropping the ******** ball on one carry."

The secondary is also an issue. The defensive backs allowed Campbell to look like a stable quarterback. This is something the team will have to address as well. Rumors are that Terrance Newman's disappointing play will find him on the waiver wire, and both Branch and Huff are probably on borrowed time as well if they don't improve. Carillon and Cooper are rookies, so at least they have more of an excuse.

Offensively, the lack of weapons is still a problem. Mike Williams has been a complete bust, Jacoby Ford is trying to contribute, but his lack of aggression in going after passes causes problems. Pryor's pick came on a deep shot to Ford and he just let the safety out play him for the ball. Unlike, say, Moore who will go up into double coverage and throw his body around, or Reece who often lays out for catches and absorbs contact over the middle.

"Scouts keep telling us he's good at catching the ball in traffic. We don't see it. He hasn't shown it, " coach Lyle commented.

Julio Caulder is why the score was as close as it was. He picked up another two TDs and 120 yards on the ground. Both his scores came in the 4th quarter.

As much as the weapons around Pryor, or lack of, can be to blame - considering he has just 1 WR and Reece as reliable targets - Pryor himself deserves some for his inconsistent play. He tends to do well in tough situations, as he led the team down the field on two fourth quarter drives, but he just doesn't put it together the rest of the game.

"Carson Palmer wasn't the answer, but Pryor ain't either. We need a quarterback, " a fan spoke, "Oh, and to learn how to win on the road."

Well, the fan might be right on Pryor, but the Raiders are 4-2 now on the road, far better than last year's failings away from the Coliseum.

Defensively, McClain seems to be heating back up, picking up 14 tackles and a sack. Huff had 9 tackles, no one else had more than 4, which says pretty much everything about the day the defense had trying to corral Jones-Drew, who ran for 6 yards per carry and broke 7 tackles in his 27 rushes.

The loss gives back the game the Raiders gained on the Chiefs and Chargers last week. Both won and the team, at 7-4, is back to a 1-game lead...and the Raiders have a rematch with the Chargers this week.

This game was crazy from the start. The first quarter saw the Raiders offense take the field for all of 3 plays (a 3-and-out), yet they put 14 points on the board. Seven came from a scoop-and-score from Tyvon Branch on a Philip Rivers fumble. The other seven came from Taiwan Jones returning a kickoff for a touchdown.

From there, it was a back and forth affair with Ryan Mathews ransacking the Raiders "defense" for 3 touchdowns and 100 yards rushing. Fortunately, Caulder was reliable again, another 2 TDs to help the team keep pace. Terrelle Pryor was better in this one and Jacoby Ford stepped up in place of Mike Williams, who was injured. Ford put up 100 yards on the day including a key catch near the end of the game.

Philip Rivers also threw the ball around, hitting several receivers. Antonio Gates was difficult to stop all game and keeping drives alive.

The Raiders had a 14 point lead heading into the fourth quarter, aided by the duo of Caulder and Jones working in excellent rhythm and Pryor adding in some passes to keep the defense off balance. However, the defense could not get a stop as Ryan Mathews ran in his 3rd score with Rivers doing a good job standing strong in the pocket.

Raiders tried to bleed the clock, but Pryor made a mistake and tried to hit Harper along the sideline to keep a drive going. Instead, the ball was intercepted. Rivers and the Chargers methodically moved the ball down the field, eating up precious time. Rivers ended up throwing a TD pass on 4th and Goal, finding Malcolm Floyd for the score with under a minute left.

Raiders had 3 timeouts to work with and Pryor immediately called Ford's number for a deep pass. The throw close to the sideline and Ford made an excellent catch to hold on and stay in bounds. Luckily, Pryor left enough room along the sideline because Ford couldn't control where he'd land with the defense close by.

This big play got the Raiders across midfield. They pushed it forward a little more before the Chargers forced 4th down. At 4th and 2, just inside the Chargers' 40, Lyle had a decision to make. He could attempt to go for it, and if it failed, chances are the game was going to overtime since there were just 10 seconds left. However, he has Janikowski, a weapon in his own right. Making the decision complicated was the fact Janikowski missed a 43 yard field goal kicking in this same direction earlier. Lyle showed confidence in his howitzer-legged kicker and sent him out there to win the game.

After the Chargers used their last timeout to try to ice the kicker, Janikowski got set up to make the kick. He put it up with plenty of distance, but, again, it looked to be off to the left - the same way he missed earlier. This time, though, there was enough draw on the ball to pull it through the uprights for the go-ahead score.

"This was a crazy game! I just couldn't watch that kick, I was just hoping it would go through. We fought so hard and it started to feel like it was slipping away, " Moore spoke.

When asked if pulling out this kind of win would silence the critics, Pryor said, "I can't control that. I just can go out there every week and put my body and heart on the line for my team and try to win games. That's all I can do. If it's enough, I'll be holding the ball again. If they say not enough, then I have to work to get another opportunity. I got this one, I can get another. Right now, I'm just focused on this season and celebrating this win with my team."

Celebrate they should, getting back the game they lost to the Chargers at home 17-13 earlier in the year. This removes that as the tiebreaker, in case the division or playoffs come down to it.

At 8-4, the Raiders are back to a two game lead as the Chiefs also lost, putting them and the Chargers at 6-6. The Raiders play host to the 5-7 Ravens next week.

                            Bent, But Not Broken
Rolando McClain Leads Defense, Forces Fumble
                            To Thwart Ravens' Final Drive.
                            Raiders Win, 20-19

The Raiders took "bend and don't break" to a new high. The Ravens just could not be stopped offensively, until they got into the red zone. They pushed the Raiders' defense up against the wall 5 times, settling for just 4 FGs in the process.

Ray Rice was the biggest culprit and Rolando McClain made it his mission to track him down all game.

"I'm gonna be his shadow. You guys just keep me clean and I'll take him out, " McClain was captured on the field microphone saying.

The plan worked. Rolando racked up 15 tackles and had a very key moment of being Rice's shadow.

In the meantime, someone fed Flacco some steroids before the game as he was on point with most of his passes. His receivers were on time and the maligned pass defense looked like it would strike again. However, the defense would stiffen and hold Flacco to just 1 touchdown despite a 133.5 quarterback rating on the day.

That would be the theme of the day for the Ravens.

On the Raiders' side, it was another first half of hardly touching the ball. When they did, they had some success, but Pryor was not doing so well early on. He did work a drive down the field for Caulder to get another rushing TD.

His next successful drive met an end many drives have - at the hands of Ed Reed. Pryor was pressured and tried to hit Moore over the middle on a post to the back-middle of the end zone. However, Reed jumped the pass and picked it off.

That would be the only mistake for Pryor, though, as he started looking better in the second half. The Raiders got the ball and would fail to score on their first possession. The Ravens were held to one of their many field goals, and then Pryor led the team on a tough 10-play drive that ended with Moore not letting his QB down this time.

Pryor waited in the pocket looking for someone to get open, he threw it high to the back corner of the end zone where it would be caught or incomplete. Moore got there and leaped up - as did Jimmy Smith. Somehow, Moore came away with the ball in almost a simultaneous possession situation and somehow, Moore had the presence of mind to tap his toes in the back of the end zone.

Moore displays exceptional hands and concentration
in order to score a key touchdown.

This play not only fired up the entire Raiders sideline, it brought the Raiders to within 2 points at 19-17.

The defense came out with energy, getting after the Ravens offense. While the Ravens got some first downs, they were stopped and the defense got off the field.

What followed might have been Pryor's best drive yet. The Raiders mixed up runs from different angles as they saw what might work after getting on the field for some decent time in the 3rd quarter. Caulder started things off and then Jones did some inside running, showing toughness. The Ravens did get the Raiders to a 4th and 1 situation, and Lyle called Caulder's number. Caulder slammed it in there and powered ahead to get enough for the first down.

The Raiders mixed in a few passes, using some to convert after the Ravens got worried about plugging run gaps. The vacated LBs gave room in the short middle of the field for high percentage throws.

The offense pushed the ball inside the 10 and the drive stalled, but they took over 9 minutes off the clock, including passing the 2-minute warning. Janikowski hit the chip shot FG to make it 20-19.

But Raiders had to prove they could stop the Raven attack. It started off well, including forcing a holding call. However, the coverage became a problem. Jacoby Jones beat whichever scrub DB as after the first three in the depth chart and said scrub missed the tackle. Jones took off down the sideline and it looked bad. However, Shaquille Carillon got on his horse and tracked down Jones, knocking him out of bounds. It was the second big play allowed by the defense in the passing game - both by Jones.

The Ravens looked to have momentum and wanted to move closer, taking time off the clock for what they hoped would be a winning kick. However, Lamarr Houston got a sack to make that plan harder. It was Houston's one and only tackle in the whole game.

Finally, Flacco looked more like his usual flustered self. Crowd in full throat and egged on by McClain as Flacco tried to call out signals, the Ravens ended up with a short completion and 3rd down. Time was running out, and the Ravens were still in reasonable field goal range.

With about 30 second left on the clock, Ray Rice got his 31st carry of the day. Rolando McClain, keeping to his mission of shadowing Rice all day, laid a fierce hit in the hole Rice was looking to cut back in, something he'd done much of the day. McClain caught Rice by surprise and the ball popped out. Tyvon Branch sniffed out the ball and pounced on it to end the threat and save the win.

"What a game. This is one we can look back on when thing look tough for us and we start getting down on ourselves, but then we can remember Rolando leading us and rallying us and how we stood up when we needed to all game long, " Paris Cooper commented.

"Talk about a nice one for the fans to go home on!" Rolando McClain commented, "You know, we just kept fighting. That's what it takes in this league. You keep fighting, you man up, and just get the job done. Don't matter how tough it is, how tired you are, just have to dig deep in yourself and support the guys fighting just as hard around you."

The Raiders maintained their two-game lead in the division and sit at 9-4, inching closer to securing a playoff berth.

"We can't let up. It's close but we're aren't there yet and we don't want to just be satisfied getting in. We want to win the division, " coach Lyle commented.

Raiders signed CB Andre' Goodman to a 1-year contract.

                            Scouting:

Raiders scouts uncovered another possible target for the secondary, David Martinez, CB out of LSU. He looks to have excellent speed and shows comfort both matched against a receiver as well as in space. Seems to have a good sense of what's going on around him as well.

                                Defense Bails Out Offense as
Raiders Win in Spite of Pryor, 20-13.

If Pryor is trying to silence his critics, he's doing a poor job. He was personally responsible for 3 of the team's 4 turnovers (yet another Taiwan Jones fumble was the other). To be fair, he did contribute to the team's 2 TDs, one with his legs on a 7-yard scramble and the other on pass in the back of the end zone.

Using his mobility is something he did relatively well, considering the offensive line was exposed in pass protection in this one. Officially, he took just two sacks, but there were several close calls where he was hit as he threw as well as other hurried throws.

The interceptions he threw weren't because of the pressure, though. One was just a terrible throw on a simple curl route to Ford, and the other was trying to hit Ford over the middle of the field - and again, not able to find the target.

He did complete 62% of his passes, but for just 167 yards.

Julio Caulder continues to do a good job, picking up 106 yards on 25 carries, but was held out of the end zone. Taiwan Jones got some work, 10 carries for 47 yards, but his fumble issues continue and threaten his role in the offense.

Moore was the stable force in the pass attack, picking up 79 receiving yards. Ford picked up the passing touchdown, as Pryor sneaked a pass past Berry. Pryor was looking like he might scramble and Berry stepped up just enough for Pryor to fire a high pass to Ford for the score.

Defensively, McClain was again a man on a mission, picking up another 15 tackles. The whole front seven looked solid, corralling Jamaal Charles as he tried to get outside consistently.

"Charles needed to work inside. He found some room there on some runs, I don't know why they didn't go back to it. Maybe he's just not tough enough, " Simms spoke in the postgame analysis.

Matt Cassel could have used the help. The Raiders were able to stay with most of the Chiefs' receivers. Shockey broke through for a score, fighting of the tackle attempt by Shaquille Carillon - a definite physical mismatch and the rookie tried to go high, which was a bad idea.

Other than that, he also threw two INTs. On one, he was too indecisive and when he did throw it, Sheldon Brown was there to make the play. On the other, he lost sight of LB Jake Olsen, and paid with an interception.

Neither offense was especially effective. Chiefs had 187 total offensive yards. Raiders did put up 300 offensive yards, but nothing to write home about. The team did actually stay on the field for a change, however.

The win puts the Raiders at 10-4 and on a 3-game win streak. The Raiders control their own fate...but have not yet clinched. The Chargers are also on a win streak and sit at 8-6, still just two games back.
