One More Try: The Aaron Street Story

Hello, this is TheOnlyIThinkJake, but you can call me Jake. This is my new football dynasty. I will be running it as if I am the main character. It will follow his life, his ups and his downs and everything in between. It will chronicle his football career, from playing, to coaching, and everything else. It will also tell the story of his life, away from the field.

It will follow his on and off the field struggles, and be told like a story.

I will update the rules and sliders, and all that once they're set in stone and I'm ready to begin.

I know that some of you may be fed up with me and my dynasties. But I've had a great idea and I don't think that I'll get bored with this one, as I have with others. I really like what I have in my head and on paper for this dynasty. This one will last a long time and have a great storyline. I also hope you guys really like it, because it is flowing better than anyone of my other dynasties. This is going to be the best dynasty that I have ever put out.

This one will be different than my others as my character will start as a freshman in high school.

I've been thinking about this dynasty for a while, and have some great ideas. I think this dynasty will be like a TV show, and you'll see why. We'll have all sorts of characters, from main characters, supporting characters, and more.

Any comments, or feedback of any kind are welcome.

This will also be influenced by your ideas and comments, and those could completely change the direction of this story.

Thank you, and I hope you'll enjoy.

Edit: Please do not post until I say you can.

Now, with all that out of the way ... let's get started.

      Season 1 Episode 1: Pilot

      August 1, 2009

      *Beep* *Beep*

I woke up, full of anxiety, and ready for the first day of practices. I slowly walk towards my dresser, to turn off my alarm. I turn on my light and get out some clothes.

"Mom, is breakfast ready?" I yell down, I can smell something cooking, but can't tell exactly what.

"Yes honey!" She yelled back, her voice full of pep that I did not appreciate at 6:00 in the morning.

I go downstairs and grab a plate, she cooked my favorite eggs and bacon. A meal for a king. I start eating and turn on the TV to ESPN.

"New head coach Jim Schwartz praises number one pick, Matthew Stafford." I hear as I take the last strip of bacon and eat it whole.

"Thanks mom." I say, and then I give her a hug and go back upstairs. I put on my clothes and go out the front door.

"Bye mom." I yell, as I walk out the door and start on my way to practice.

I see Brandon Striker, my best friend since first grade and run to catch up with him.

"Hey Brandon." I say, finally catching up with him.

"Can't talk." He says, filling his face with toaster made pancakes.

We walked silently to the field, he had stopped eating, but we were both nervous for the first day of preseason.

      ***********************************************
"Hello, I am Blake Patterson, but all of you will refer to me as Coach Patterson." He said, everyone in the town of Washington knew who he was, he was the number one high school coach in Ohio.

"Some of you were here last year, and some of you weren't. Now let me explain to you all how this team works, there are three teams Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. Only freshman can play on the freshman team, that is the only "real" restriction there is." He said, he paused for a moment and looked over all of us.

"We can kick some a** this year, if y'all want to." He said, getting excited, his southern twang got the better of him that time.

"Now give me ten laps!" He said, turning to his assistant coaches and starting a discussion.

"Ughhh." There was a collective groan from most of the players, I was one of the few who was too nervous to make a noise.

I was running my a** off, and for good reason I finished sixteenth. I was only behind some seniors and a couple of juniors.

"Good work, freshy." One of the seniors said to me.

"Yeah, hell of a go." Another one added on.

After everyone finished Coach Patterson told us to divide by the position that we had been the previous year, and made sure to add that didn't mean we would play that position this year.

I went with the quarterbacks, and the quarterback coach, Evan Smith.

I looked at the other three guys I was with:

Teddy Fritz, starting quarterback, a senior, the dude was a legend in Washington.

Timmy Weston, backup quarterback, a junior.

Tyler Reaves, a wildcat quarterback, a sophomore.

"Hello, I'm Coach Smith and I'm glad to meet all of you." He said, glancing at all of us equally.

He made us run through some drills, and had us learn a couple plays, and such. Then the first practice was over, we gathered in the middle of the practice field to listen to Coach Patterson before leaving.

"Good first practice guys, I liked what I saw. Remember tomorrow starts two-a-days, come ready. Good bye." He said, and everyone departed from the practice field.

        It Has Begun!

        You may post now!

Please leave feedback, of any kind.

The writing style will change and get better, I just wanted to get that first update out tonight.

The asterisks are like a commercial break, or just a thing to skip a bit of time.

Season 1 Episode 2: The Scrimmages

              August 7, 2009

It was Friday, we had one full week of practice, and a random Saturday one. Coach Patterson had told us that he had something big planned for Friday, and everyone was excited and nervous. That was a day that I had been waiting for.

"Okay boys, I told you something was happening today and it is." He said, staring all of us down. "We're gonna divide into four teams and have a tournament."

"Whoo-hooo!" All of the seniors yelled at the same time, they were clearly excited, I was a bit nervous.

"Settle down, settle down. The four team captains will be the quarterbacks, Teddy Fritz, Timmy Weston, Tyler Reaves, and Aaron Street. It will be eleven on eleven, as we have enough for that, just barely."

There was a bunch of looks and words being exchanged, and I had to go forwards.

"Okay, picks go in order of age; seniors to freshman." He said with a smirk, he had been waiting for this too. "Let's go!" He shouted with excitement.

"Kobe Anderson." Teddy Fritz said immediately, Teddy and Kobe were best friends on and off the field, and they had set so many school records together.

Timmy Weston was up next, "Chris Peterson." Chris Peterson was our star running back, and he fit what Timmy Weston wanted to do, nothing other than what he had to. He was a pro style quarterback, that relied on play action and short passing plays.

Then it was Tyler Reaves, "Blake White." He said confidently. Blake White was our second string corner, but he was six-foot two. He obviously picked him to defend Kobe Anderson.

Then it was me, I was nervous and to be honest I didn't know what to do. There were so many options, so many choices.

"Chase Stevens." I said, pointing at him. He was the school's number one corner, and he did a great job at it.

"Good pick freshy." He said, walking towards me.

The picks went on, but I had decided to go all defense first, and then worry about myself and the offense.

I had two picks left, "Brandon Striker." I said, pointing towards my best friend.

"Hell, yeah!" He said, walking over.

Then with my last pick, there was only one player remaining and that player was coach's son. Running Back, Johnny Patterson.

"Johnny Patterson." I said, wondering how good coach's son was. And also wondering how he was gonna deal with having a son on the team.

"Okay boys, this will count towards whether you end up on varsity or junior varsity." He said, staring down certain players. "Or the freshman team." He added on quickly.

              *****************************************
              Expect another update out tonight.

I am going to do two different styles of writing too.

One will be a podcast or radio-like article, where they discuss the team, and such.

And the other will be for the games, I'll write it like an announcer. For the time being...

Season 1 Episode 3: The Scrimmages Continued

When we last left off the team was divided into four groups, and were going to do a small tournament. Aaron got his best friend, the number one corner, and Johnny Patterson, coach's son. Among a plethora of other players.

                ***************************************

"Aaron, Teddy, get your team's ready. As customary senior will face freshman. Good luck to you both. Game starts in five, remember the special rules for this tournament." Coach Patterson said, there was envy in his eyes. I think he was as excited for this as we, the players were.

The 'special rules' Coach Patterson said something about were just a couple safety precautions, such as no hitting the quarterbacks, no hard hits, and the typical practice rules.

"Okay we're gonna have to play a hell of a game on defense, and me and the offense have to get it done, when we can." I said, explaining and trying to motivate the team.

"On offense, we're gonna run a lot of pistol, and on defense just stop them, with any means necessary." I said, looking around, trying to motivate.

"Are you guys ready?" Coach Patterson asked and shouted at the same time.

"Yes sir!" Everyone replied at once.

                ***************************************

"Good game guys!" I shouted, eagerness in my voice. We had tied Teddy's team, and it was a great performance. I played some of the best football I ever had.

"Okay, good match by both of the teams, now it's time for the sophomore against the junior. Let's go!" He shouted.

                ***************************************

Timmy Weston, and his team played a great game. They had no trouble going past Tyler Reaves, and his team. Tyler's team played well, but Timmy Weston picked a golden team, and Chris Peterson proved why he was a five star recruit as a junior.

                ***************************************

We played the rest of the games, three in total. My team was undefeated, but so was Teddy's, we would face them in the final tonight.

                ***************************************
                ***************************************
This will be the radio show, all of this will be dialogue.

Hello everybody, it's the day you've been waiting for. WILDCAT FOOTBALL! Yes sir, today is the day. The Tournaments, between the team. One led by a quarterback of each class: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior.

In the final we have Aaron Street and Teddy Fritz, both of which didn't lose a match. It will be interesting to see the freshman quarterback in action, especially considering he broke most of Teddy Fritz's middle school football records.

Teddy Fritz is going into his senior season, and is looking to get the best out of his team. But tonight, he's looking to put the freshman in his place. There are two things that Teddy Fritz doesn't stand for: Losing, and throwing interceptions.

On the other side, how will Aaron Street adjust to his first 'big' game. He must be decent to have made it this far, but for the first time this season the players get to perform under the lights.

Everyone make sure to show up tonight, at Wildcat Stadium and support your Washington Wildcats. The game starts at eight o' clock.

It's bound to be one great game, between Teddy Fritz and Aaron Street.

Season 1 Episode 4: The Final

Two teams remain in the annual tournament, led by the senior and freshman quarterbacks, Teddy Fritz and Aaron Street. The stadium will be packed, and everyone has been waiting for this game.

                  *************************

*This will be the first post using the commentator/sportscaster idea*

Here we go Wildcat fans, the day we've all been waiting for. Kickoff of the annual tournament, and Teddy's team won and elected to receive.

And the kick goes to Kobe Anderson, Teddy's favorite target. And Kobe has room: to the 40, to the 50, to the 40, to the 30 and down tackled at the twenty eight yard line.

It's a play action pass, Fritz to Anderson and just like that 7-0.

Johhny Patterson, coach's son is back to receive the kick for Aaron's team. He gets a decent return out to the forty yard line.

Aaron back to pass, screen to Patterson and he's got space. Twenty yard gain out to the fifty.

                  Handoff up the middle to-
                  No!

It's a read option, Aaron Street is running it. He's got the touchdown, and it's 7-7.

                  *************************

There's the first use of the commentator-type, I'll experiment with it every now and then.

"Guys, we are down by three and **** it, we are not gonna lose. All we need is a field goal." I said, gathering up my team in the huddle.

"Here's what we're gonna do, fake the screen to Johnny who'll be out wide to the left, then I'll turn and pass it long to Brandon, who'll be running a streak. Got it?"

                  "Yes, Sir." The huddle said.

                  "Break!"

"686 Three, 686 Three!" I shouted, telling the snap count to my center.

I took the ball, waited, took three steps, pump faked to Johnny, spun around, set my feet and threw it deep to Brandon.

He caught it at their 40 yard line, and ran it to their twenty.

                  Three seconds left.

Our kicker kicked it through, game tied.

                  Zero seconds left.

                  We tied.

"Good Game Freshy." Teddy said to me giving me a high five.

"Thanks." I said, returning his high five.

                  *************************

This will end the 'season _ episode _' stuff, as I have different plans for how I'm going to do this.

I hope you enjoyed the commentator-type update

Also, another update tonight, hopefully, my head's still hurting from the PSAT.

                    Season 1, The Friendship Forms

                    August 11, 2009

"Freshy! Get in here!" Teddy shouted at me, while I was walking towards his car.

"Hey Teddy, shouldn't we call him by his name, after all he may become a great friend." Kobe Anderson said from shotgun.

"Kobe's got a point Teddy." Chase Stevens, our starting cornerback, said.

"Okay, get in Aaron!" Teddy said, as I opened the door.

"Where we headed?" I asked, not really sure of what to expect.

"Buffalo Wild Wings, the usual?" Kobe suggested.

"Sure, why not. You ever been there Aaron?" Teddy asked me.

"Nah, I've heard it's good and I like wings."

"You're in for a real treat." Chase added on.

We got to Buffalo Wild Wings, after a car ride that was full of laughter and talking. We got a table and ordered some wings.

"So, fresh..., I mean Aaron, got an eye on a girl?" Teddy asked.

"Not really." I said trying to avoid the topic.

"Not really. Be honest now Williams." Kobe said, trying to get me to talk.

"I guess, there's this one gir-"

"Well, who is she!" Kobe demanded.

"Her name..., her name's Madison." I said reluctantly.

                    "Madison, what grade?" Chase asked.

                    "Sophomore, I think."

"You think, what are you talking about man?" Kobe asked ecstatically.

"I've never really talked to her before." I said.

"Well go after her Aaron!" Teddy urged.

"Yeah man. Do it." The other two agreed upon.

"Okay, okay. I'll do it." I said, trying to make them stop.

                    "Good." Chase said.

"You can join the group of men with girlfriends." Kobe added on.

                    "Oh, yeah." Chase said.

I remembered now Teddy had been dating the same girl since freshman year, was it Leslie, Laney, Lisa, Lindsay. That was it, Lindsay! And Kobe, hmmm... Who was Kobe dating? It was Emily. And Chase, Chase was dating Julia.

"Homecoming is coming up." Teddy added on.

"True, true. Take your shot Aaron." Kobe agreed, then added on to.

                      Season 1, Jerseys!

                      August 17, 2009

"Today, we're going to divide into Offense versus Defense. It'll be varsity offense against varsity defense, junior varsity offense against junior varsity defense, and freshman offense against freshman defense."

"Let's get it started!" Teddy Fritz called out.

"Freshman offense, on me!" I yelled, gathering up my team.

"We're gonna run a read option. Block, and we will get this touchdown first try."

"Break!" We all yelled together at once.

"Red 58, Red 58!" I yelled once I identified the Mike linebacker.

"Set, Hut. Hut! I yelled, getting the ball.

I looked at the defensive end, and saw him stay there.

                      I kept the ball.

I took off running, all the way to the end zone, no one could stop me.

The rest of practice we just did different plays and a whole bunch of different things. Then at the end Coach had a couple announcements to make.

"First off we have our scrimmage on Thursday, it's our only scrimmage and it is away at East Ridge, it will only have a Varsity and Junior Varsity game, but freshman must come. Second off jerseys are in!" He exclaimed.

"Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, then Freshman. That's the order."

We had finally gotten to freshman, when I was the first name called.

"Okay Aaron, there are four numbers that you as a quarterback can wear. We have three, seven, thirteen, and seventeen. What will it be?" Coach Patteron asked.

"Seven." I said, walking over to get my jersey.

We finished practice, and I walked home. And when I got home my mother was waiting for me on the front porch.

"Guess what Aaron?" She said excitedly.

"What?" I said quietly, tired from football practice.

"Riley gets out of jail next week!" She exclaimed.

                      What!" I said.

"You're not gonna let him live with us, are you?" I asked.

"Well, yes. He doesn't have anywhere else to go."

                      "That's for a reason!"

                      "Just give him a chance."

                      "Like last time! No!"

                      "Aaron... He's your brother"

"I need some air." I said walking away from the house.

"Aaron!" My mom yelled after me.

I didn't know where I was going, but I wasn't going anywhere near Riley.

Riley was my brother, but a bad one at that. He was in jail for drugs, and for the third time in two years. And some of the things he did, I can't even talk about, yet.

                        Season 1, Helping Hands

"Aaron, right?" Blake White, one of our starting cornerbacks asked me.

                        "Yes." I nodded.

                        "Need a ride?"

                        "No. No, thank you."

                        "Okay, see you later."

Then I was alone again, I was at the school. More specifically, I was in the stadium, sitting in the stands.

"How could she let Riley move back in?" I asked myself.

I couldn't believe it. Riley was going to be in our house. How could she?

I was stuck in mindless thought, mostly about Riley, when I saw someone start to run the track.

'Who is that?' I thought to myself.

Then I saw her, and I realized it was Madison.

Let me explain who Madison was, before I go any further.

Madison was a sophomore, and she was smart. And she was pretty. And she played sports. She played soccer, and then she ran track.

But to me she was more than any of those things, she was perfect. To fifteen year old me...

"Hey, you're that freshman quarterback aren't you?" She asked.

I felt my heart beat faster, and I felt nervous.

                        "Yeah." I responded.

"What are you doing here, practice is over."

I cracked a smile and said "Long story."

She came up on the bleachers, and sat down right next to me.

                        "I have time." She said.

"Are you sure?" I asked, not wanting to waste her time.

Now before I go any further, I was not a guy who got girls. I'd never kissed a girl or even dated a girl and I've never been a guy that's really wanted to.

"Shoot." She said, staring at me.

                        "My brother is back."

                        "what's wrong with that?"

                        "Back, from jail."

                        "Oh, for what?"

                        "Drugs."

                        "Selling or using?"

                        "Both."

                        "So you don't like him?"

"I mean he's my brother, but he just has made so many mistakes."

                        "Well, maybe he's changed."

                        "I doubt it."

"Do you wanna maybe grab some food?"

                        "Sure, yeah."

                        "Okay. Let's go."

We went and got some food at a local diner, and talked and had a good time. But like all good things, it had to end.

"Well, I've gotta be going now." She said.

                        "Okay."

"We should do this again though."

                        "Yeah, definitely."

                        *************************

I walked home, and when I got close I saw the door was ajar. I started running towards it, and went through the front door.

I'm not gonna explain what I saw next.

I called 911 and just left with my emotions, trying to stay calm.

                        *************************
*This Will Be From Madison's Perspective*

"Honey will you bring me the dishes from the table?" Mom asked.

"Yeah mom." I said, bringing her the dishes.

                        *RING* *RING* *RING*

"Will you get that?" My mom asked me.

                        "Yeah."

I opened the door and saw Aaron Street.

"What's wrong?" I asked, seeing he was clearly distraught, and sad.

                          Season 1, Remembrance

                          August 23, 2009

"You ready?" Madison asked me, looking into my eyes and adjusting my tie.

"Yes. And thank you for" I took a long pause. "Everything."

"Your welcome." She said, we shared a tight embrace.

"Well, I gotta go help set up."

                          "Bye." She said.

I couldn't wait to get this whole thing behind me, and just get back to normal. There was one problem I, and everyone else had been not thinking about: I needed a legal guardian.

"Hey Aaron. How are you?" Was the same question all my relatives were asking me.

"I'm fine." Was the same response I gave to everyone.

But I wasn't fine. I would be able to get through, but not without some difficulties.

I had to get some space, and get away from everyone making sure I was okay.

That's when I saw my teammates, dressed in full uniforms. Standing on the sidewalk across from the funeral home.

"Thank you." I said, tearing up. It hit me hard that time, especially how many people supported me.

The funeral came and went, we laughed, we cried, and we came together as a family.

Then there was one last problem, who was going to be my legal guardian?

We had a meeting at the court house. There were several people there: My quarterback coach, Brandon Striker's parents, and my grandparents.

After talking and going through all the paperwork, the judge decided on my quarterback coach.

He didn't feel a move to Texas was right, and the Striker's already had a kid.

                          *************************

Then came the day when I went back to school.

The day went by fast, people wished me well and were nice to me.

But then came the part of the day I wanted it to be.

                          Practice.

"Aaron, come here!" Coach Patterson yelled over to me during warmups.

                          "What's up coach?" I asked.

                          "First off, you okay?"

                          "Yeah, thanks for asking."

"Okay, we have a new freshman quarterback, Cole Samples. He can't take your spot, but we may move you around on the freshman or junior varsity team."

"So am I quarterback or not?"

"On the freshman team, yes. On the junior varsity team, no. You'll be playing different positions."

"Okay coach. What positions do you have in mind?"

"Running Back, Wide Receiver, Safety, or corner."

                          "Okay."

                          *************************

This was weird to write, and I had to get back to the main point so it is written weird and it is weirdly patched together.
