    Season 2, School's In

    August 20, 2010

I sat in my last class biding my time to get out, school was back and I couldn't wait for it to be over. I was listening to some teacher drone on about Shakespeare, or something like that.

"Mr. Street, can you tell us one of the books I just said we would be reading this year?" Mrs. Sharp asked. Mrs. Sharp had been my literature teacher last year too, and boy did she hate me.

"Romeo and Juliet." I said questioningly, that was the only play I knew by Shakespeare.

"We read that last year Mr. Street."

    "Did we?"

"Back to what I was saying-"

    *BUZZ*

I took my phone out of my pocket in a nonchalant way, it was a missed call. I didn't recognize the number, so I just put it back into my pocket.

The end of class was within reach, only ten minutes left.

That was when an announcement came over the intercom, "Football practice is canceled for tonight."

"Whoo!" Cole said as he threw both of his arms above his head in victory. Cole then turned around to me, 'party' he mouthed to me with a grin on his face.

    *RING*

I left the classroom super fast, and immediately checked my phone. The call was from a hospital, and it wasn't super close to Washington, about an hour outside.

I called them back while walking outside to my house, "Hello?"

    "Are you Mr. Aaron Street?"

    "Yes."

"Can you get here as soon as you can, Madison's parents have requested you here."

    "Yeah, I'll be there."

        Banner #1

What do you guys think of this for the banner?

Obviously I need to change the size, but other than that.

Looks really good, I like the use of the different shades of orange.

            Season 2, Goodbye

I rushed to the hospital as fast as I could, extremely curious about what had happened. And even more curious about why Madison's parents wanted me there. I made it to the hospital as fast as I could and was asked who I was, when I responded that I was Aaron Street, the lady pointed me to a room about halfway down the hallway.

When I opened the door I saw Madison on a hospital bed, laying motionless. Both of her parents were seated in chairs right next to the bed, they stared at me with sadness in their eyes as I entered the room.

            "What's going on?"

            "She's in a coma." Madison's dad replied.

            "What, what happened?"

            "She drank too much alcohol."

My mind raced and my heartbeat sped up, immediately my mind was full of thoughts such as, why didn't I help her and what could I have done to help her.

"I know that you were called here before when she drank too much."

            "I, told her to stop."

"It's not your fault Aaron, we had several discussions with her about it. The hospital called us after each incident, but she didn't take our advice."

"Is she going to be okay?"

            "Only time will tell."

I hung my head down, fighting back tears. "D*mn it." I thought to myself. I didn't know what else I could say or do, so I left.

About an hour later I got back to my house, and by my house I mean the house that my brother bought after selling our old one. The Striker's had been coming over quite frequently to make sure I was doing okay.

"Why weren't you at practice?" Brandon said as he got up from his seat on the porch.

"Madison is in the hospital, again."

            "Oh sh*t bro, I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it. Anything happen at practice?"

"Cameron Graham came back, Coach seemed irritated you weren't there, and Damien acted like a jerk, as usual."

            "Sounds about right. That all?"

"The first news team of the season showed up. They're getting started on their season preview."

"Too bad they missed the starting quarterback." I replied back with a chuckle.

            "You sure you good man?"

            "Yeah, I'm fine, just tired."

"See ya." Brandon said as he started walking back to his house.

I laid down on the coach and turned on Sportscenter, they were talking about the Cincinnati Bengals preseason game against the Eagles. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep, especially after the day I had just had.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of my cellphone ringing.

"Hello." I said, trying to make it sound like I didn't just get up.

            "Madison has, passed away."

              Washington 2010 Season Preview: Overall

              Washington Post
              BY: Ross Michaels

We are just under two weeks until the first regular season game here in Washington, and everyone is ready for that game. The Washington Wildcats open the season against their biggest rival, the Wellstown Broncos.

The Wildcats lost quite a few good players, and a lot of important ones. Their star quarterback, Teddy Fritz, left and their whole offensive and defensive lines left. They also gained some new talent, but the only one who will make an immediate impact is, quarterback Damien Michaels Jr.

There is also some tension going on between the coach and the players, and between certain players. The biggest result of this is senior quarterback Timmy Weston quitting the team.

Going into the first game, this is what we expect the depth chart to look like:

                Washington 2010 Season Preview: Offense

                Washington Post
                BY: Ross Michaels

Last year the Washington Wildcats were a mixed bag on offense. At first, the offense was abysmal and Teddy Fritz was throwing multiple interceptions every game. However, Teddy Fritz and the rest of this offense did turn it around, up until the last game of the season they were unbeatable. Teddy Fritz returned to his greatness and finished as the tenth best quarterback in the state. Chris Peterson, the star running back, will return for his final year and he will be looking to not only break Washington's career rushing record, but also Ohio's career rushing record of 9,426. After three years of playing running back for Washington, Chris Peterson has amassed a total of 6,732 yards. The receiving game last year was strongly hindered early on by Teddy Fritz's underwhelming performances, but once things turned around Kobe Anderson and David Pendleton had great seasons. Fullback Laron Timmons will return and he was a great blocker for Chris Peterson last year, and this year is aiming to be ranked as the number one blocking fullback in Ohio. All-star tight end Jamaal Hall who emerged as a great pass catcher last year graduated and is now attending Ohio State University for both football and basketball. The whole offensive line graduated and that means major problems, last years line was pretty good and it's going to be hard to replace them all.

At quarterback there is going to be a fierce battle between Damien Michaels Jr. and Aaron Street, however Damien Michaels Jr. has the numbers and experience behind him. Aaron Street could still find a way onto the starting varsity team, as he played some corner back and free safety for varsity last year. Behind them is the projected junior varsity quarterback, Cole Samples. Cole Samples showed a lot of potential last year and will likely be a good starter, however I don't think he can ever break through to being great.

For running back Chris Peterson has already claimed the starting job and will likely not be off the field much, if at all, this season. He needs 2,693 yards to break the all-time Ohio State career rushing record. Behind him are two very capable backs, Cameron Graham and Johnny Patterson. Cameron Graham is a great pass catching back and has the most speed at the position, but lacks true running or blocking ability. Johnny Patterson lacks the pass catching ability, but is a better runner and blocker, however no one knows how healthy his leg is after being shot in the knee last year.

At fullback Laron Timmons will be back and better than ever after putting on an additional twenty pounds during the offseason. He should be in every play that Chris Peterson is, as the two form a very explosive and dangerous backfield.

At wide receiver the two starting receivers will be the same as last year: Kobe Anderson and David Pendleton. Both of which are poised to have great senior years and go down as to of the best Washington Wildcats receivers. Behind them it's a crowded group with four other receivers: Ricky Daniels, Phillip Davis, Brandon Striker, and Zak Matthews. Ricky Daniels is set to be the slot receiver and has done great with that task on junior varsity for the prior two years. Phillip Davis will be the fourth receiving option and will be on both the kickoff return team and the punt return team. Brandon Striker is an explosive receiver who will see limited time on varsity, along with fellow sophomore Zak Matthews, who has shown potential, but hasn't done anything with it.

At tight end there are two returning players and one freshman in the mix. The projected starter is Dion Buchanon a big blocking tight end, who isn't great at catching the ball or running with it after the catch, but he is one of the better blockers on this team and that includes the offensive line. Behind him is likely Charles Andrews an all-around tight end, he doesn't excel in any one area of his game, but he can do a bit of everything. Then there is the freshman, Jordan Lewis, a joker tight end. He likely won't see much of the field this year, but he is worth watching in the years to come.

At offensive line there are five new starters and five new back ups, they'll have quite the job to do as they have to block for one of the best running backs in the country, and they'll have to do it against some pretty good teams too. It looks like a talented group that knows what to do, but can't always do it. They also lack any cohesiveness.
