Scoreboard 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
Kansas City Chiefs [10-6] 0 0 0 0 0
New England Patriots [16-0] 7 14 7 0 28
THE IMMOVABLE OBJECT AND THE UNSTOPPABLE FORCE
After going three and out on their first possession the Patriots got the ball back deep in their own territory after Brandon Browner picked off an Alex Smith pass. Brady and the rest of the Pats offense didn’t waste the opportunity, driving 82 yards and capping the drive with a LeGarrette Blount one yard TD run. The Pats would roll from there, shutting out the Chiefs and putting up 28 points for another lopsided win.
Brady struggled early on in the game but finished strong with 222 yards and three scores. He hit three different receivers on the touchdown passes. Edelman played largely a decoy role as the Chiefs double covered him on 90% of the plays. That opened up other receivers and Brady spread the ball around to all of them. Edelman did catch a touchdown pass in the third quarter.
The Pats defense held the Chiefs scoreless and allowed just 148 yards of total offense. They kept Jamal Charles in check, not allowing him to break many big plays. Charles finished with 33 total yards. Alex Smith finished 10 of 17 for 146 yards and threw two interceptions. His final quarterback rating was a dreadful 47.3. He was sacked five times.
New England will host Peyton Manning and the Broncos next week. Denver topped Houston 45-24 at Mile High yesterday.

Re: ONE. FINAL. RUN.
Awesome, first off. I have really enjoyed following this. Quick question, I was looking at your regular season stats. How do you split carries so evenly between Ridley and Blount? It seems tough to do the running back by committee approach in this game.Comment

COULD THIS BE THE LAST BRADY VS MANNING MATCHUP?
Peyton Manning. Tom Brady. Broncos at Patriots for a trip to the Superbowl. Before the first snaps of the season were taken you had to see this coming. Manning is 39, Brady 38. Both passers could very well call it a career following this season. They’ll do battle at least once more with a trip to the big game on the line.
Players to Watch
Obviously it all starts and ends with Peyton manning for the Broncos. Manning threw for 4,085 yards, 33 touchdowns and just nine interceptions as he led the Broncos to a 13-3 regular season record. Behind him runningback C.J. Anderson ran for 1,302 yards and 10 touchdowns. Montee Ball added 500 yards and eight scores. Demaryius Thomas hauled in a team high 102 passes for 1,079 yards and 7 scores. Julius Thomas had 82, 831 and 7. The offensive line has been solid but left tackle Ryan Clady is out with a pulled groin.
Defensively linebacker Lamin Barrow led the team with 114 tackles, safety T.J. Ward was second with 112. Von Miller’s 8 sacks led the way and cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Chris Harris each had five interceptions. Talib is on injured reserve with a PCL tear.

Outlook
To expect anything but a game that comes down to the wire would be foolish. Whichever team makes the big play last will likely take the win. These teams played a one score game early in the season and will likely do the same this weekend.

PUNCHING THEIR TICKET
Peyton Manning and Tom Brady combined for three interceptions and zero touchdowns in what could have been their last meeting. Brady’s Patriots topped Manning’s Broncos by a score of 21-0 in a game that was much closer than the scoreboard indicated.
New England’s first possession ended when Rahim Moore picked off a Brady pass at the Denver 25. The Broncos were held to a punt. After a New England turnover on downs Denver came up empty again when Huerta missed a 51 yard field goal to end the first quarter.
Midway through the second quarter Kyle Arrington picked off a Manning pass. New England was forced to punt. Denver punted back. New England turned the ball over on downs again and the Huerta missed a 57 yard field goal just before halftime. At the break it was all tied up 0-0. Both quarterbacks were having trouble placing the ball in the snow and they each had a good amount of pressure when they dropped back to pass.
Denver’s opening possession ended when Dont’a Hightower stepped in front of a Manning pass at the Patriots 8 yard line. The possession would lead to the first score of the game when LeGarrette Blount plowed into the endzone from a yard out. Denver was forced to punt on their next possession and the Patriots capitalized with Stevan Ridley scoring from five yards out early in the fourth.
Denver turned the ball over once again when Darrelle Revis hit Emmanuel Sanders and jarred the ball loose. Duron Harmon was there to scoop it up and the turnover led to the third and final score of the game, a Blount 3 yard TD run.
Neither quarterback looked good in the snow. The game fell on the shoulders of the defenses and the running game. New England stepped up with 217 rushing yards and 3 takeaways.
New England now waits to see who they will face in Superbowl L as Seattle hosts Detroit later today.
