Vol's RB Chuck Webb rushed for over 200 yards in win over Ducks

    3:30 PM ET, September 14,

    Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

In a high powered offensive shootout in Eugene, Oregon the Tennessee Vols outlasted the Oregon Ducks 45-38.

The two teams (Ore-503)/(Tenn-485) combined for almost 1000 yards of total offense.

But the biggest play of the game was a defensive play by Vol's DB Terry McDaniel who gave Tennessee the lead for good when he picked off Dan Fouts in the 3rd QTR and returned it 46 yards for a TD putting the Vols up 38-31.

On the Vols opening possession of the game RB Chuck Webb got going early as he broke free on the 2nd play from scrimmage taking it to the house from 68 yards out. Webb finished with 217 yards rushing and 3-TD's on the day.

Despite the lost the Ducks got a career day from Fouts as he passed for 456 yards.

        7:00 PM ET, September 14,

Memorial Stadium (Berkeley, CA), Berkeley, CA

The 25th ranked Cal Bears pulled off a last second miracle to upend #7 Ohio St.

Joe Kapp connected on a 75 yard bomb to speedster Wesley Walker as time expired giving the Bears a dramatic win. Walker one of the fastest players in all of college football got behind Buckeye CB Shawn Springs and then past safety Jack Tatum who arrived late on the coverage and raced to the endzone untouched.

Ohio St appeared to have the game under control in the 4th QTR following a 6 yard TD run by Archie Griffin giving them a 31-21 lead and later Lou Groza made good on a 33 yard FG with 0:15 seconds left putting them up 34-28 before CAL's miracle play.

Both of Kapp's TD passes in the game covered 70 yards or more as he hooked up earlier in the game with Steve Rivera on a 70 yard strike.

The win improved CAL to 3-0 on the year.

Playmaker Dante Hall proved to be a home run threat vs BAMA's defense

            3:30 PM ET, September 14,

            Kyle Field, College Station, TX

20th ranked Texas A&M bounced back from a opening day lost to upset #2 ranked Alabama 32-29 in College Station.

The Aggies scored 19 unanswered points between the 2nd & 3rd QTR's to take a 29-14 lead going into the 4th QTR which upheld despite a late Crimson Tide comeback attempt.

Dante Hall the Aggies game breaking dimunitive WR scored both times he touched the ball through the air.

Hall's 59 yard catch and run in the 2nd qtr gave his team a 10-0 lead and later in the 3rd qtr he scored from 52 yards out stretching the Aggies lead to 29-14 with both passes coming from SR QB Kevin Murray.

A&M's stingy defense was able to shut down Bama's RB Shuan Alexander limiting him to just 58 yards on 16 carries.

I didn't change anything for this Dynasty in regards to conferences other than adding my two team builder squads All-Time SWAC and Walter Camp Legends

I will set up the older conferences doing my next Dynasty thread with the 1990's All Decade file I'm currently working on.

Backup QB Ronald Curry gave the TarHeels a lift off the bench in the 2nd half vs Yellow Jackets

Date: Sep 21, • Site: Atlanta, Ga. • Stadium: Bobby Dodd Stadium • Attendance: 49445

Ronald Curry proved to be one of the best backup QB's in the ACC as he came off the bench to direct North Carolina to a 37-17 win over Georgia Tech.

Curry who replaced the injured Charlie "Choo-Choo" Justice in the 3rd qtr helped to extend a 7 point Tarheels lead to 24-10 on a 48 yard pass to Bucky Brooks with 6:48 left in the QTR.

Curry who was flushed out the pocket by Tech DE Marco Coleman rolled to his right avoiding the sack and fired a beautiful pass to Brooks down the middle.

Curry along with a dominant TarHeels defense in the 2nd half out scored the Yellow Jackets 20-7 paving the way for North Carolina to stay unbeaten (3-0).

Before his injury the versatile Justice had accounted for all 17 of North Carolina's points rushing for 2 TD's and kicking a 44 YD FG. He finished the game with 202 yards of total offense.

All-American QB Peyton Manning lit up the Gators defense for 386 yards and 5 TD's in the Vols blowout win at home over their SEC Rivals.

Manning repeatedly found holes in the Gators secondary as he connected on 80% of his passes and found 5 different receivers on his scoring tosses.

The Vols who have arguably the deepest WR core in all of College Football had a pair of weapons go over 100 yards receiving on the day Carl Pickens (122) and TE Jason Witten (118).

Michael Brooks bounced back from a early game injury to lead the Tigers defense with 10 Tackles on the day.

                            7:00 PM ET, September 21,

                            Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, AL

6th Ranked LSU over came a 17-0 deficit in the 1st half to rally past SEC Rival Auburn on the road.

LSU's defense looked rattled early in the game after Bo Jackson exploded on the 2nd play from scrimmage for a 77 yard TD run. Jackson's rare combination of size, power and speed ran off tackle stiffed armed LSU LB Michael Brooks and then accelerated past Safety Tommy Cassanova down the right sidelines.

LSU regained controlled of the game when Bert Jones got hot. Jones who was out of synch early started the game 5/13 passing but would go on in the 2nd half to complete 12 out his last 13 attempts. Jones had a 9 yard TD run in the 3rd QTR tying the game up 17-17. Then at the start of the 4th QTR Jones found Eddie Kennison on a 12 yard slant to give LSU a 27-17 lead.

Auburn closed the gap to 27-24 after a impressive 16 play 85 yard drive capped off by 11 yd TD pass from Pat Sullivan to TE Walter Reeves with 4:37 left to play but LSU's ground game allowed them to eat up the clock and score late on a 4 yard run by Dalton Hilliard putting the game away.

Vols CB Terry Fair had a key 40 yard INT return for a TD vs LSU

                                3:30 PM ET, September 28,

                                Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN

In a matchup of two unbeaten SEC Powerhouses 14th ranked Tennessee at home knocked off 5th ranked LSU 34-21.

In the 2nd QTR LSU put together scoring drives of 13 plays for 70 yards & 12 plays for 73 yards that led to a 21-14 halftime lead.

In the 2nd Half Tennessee got two game changing defensive plays allowing them to shutout LSU and outscore them 20-0.

Terry Fair came up with the 1st big play when he jumped a slant rout intended for Eric Martin and returned the INT 40 yards for a TD tying the game at 21-21 with 3:39 left in the 3rd QTR.

The Vols took the lead early in the 4th QTR 24-21 when Fuad Reveiz made good on a 53 yard FG. The FG was setup by a Peyton Manning 30 yard pass to Tim McGee. It was Manning's longest completion of the game as LSU pass defense was able to contain the Vols collection of fleet footed WR's most of the afternoon.

On the issuing possession LSU gambled on a 4 & 2 at the Vols 36 yard line coming up short as LB Hacksaw Reynolds stuffed RB Dalton Hilliard a yard shy of the 1st down.

Three plays later Manning found RB Charlie Garner in the flat for a 22 yard scoring toss giving the Vols a commanding 31-21 lead with 5:52 left putting the game out reach for LSU.

LSU played without leading rusher Chuck Webb who was injured on their opening possession of the game.
