    Week 8
    Coaching Recap

One of our coaches won, both on the field and off the field as Eric Grant can celebrate his squads ability to lure in Duncan Boland, a five star athlete that ranks as one of the best in this years recruiting class that would be a huge boon for this unit next year. The Wyoming Cowboys not only got that signing but beat the Big 12 Colorado State Rams. Their quarterback passed at a bit over 60%, while adding three touchdowns to earn player of the game honors.

The Massachusetts Minutemen losing streak continues to rise as they took on a very strong Memphis Tiger squad and saw their scoring output doubled by their opponents. The Minutemen had some positives, but it's hard to stay positive when it's turning towards the end of the season and the team is still winless. Quinn Retney is making some good moves and adjustments, but the talent level just isn't there yet.

Down south, the Red Wolves struggled against the Old Dominion Monarchs, their halfback White came up pretty big for them, with just shy of 100 yards while also adding the lone touchdown on the afternoon, but the offense struggled and just couldn't take care of business in this Sun Belt battle.

Woodson leads rally to stun Red Birds in Muncie

With three minutes left in the game, the Ball State Cardinals held a 24-38 lead over their MAC opponents in Akron. Shane Morris looked unbeatable and the Zips were reeling as their offense struggled, with just 3 points in the second half, while the Cardinals had 14. Even despite this adversity, the Zips managed to rally, ontop of losing their top quarterback for the game winning drive.

The opening drive of this game promised fireworks and in a game with a combined score of 39-38, needless to say that the scoring wouldn't be at a premium. The Zips drove downfield quickly and pushed the ball into the end zone when Chandler Kincade hooked up with Austin Wolf on a short slant for a touchdown with the senior wide open.

Ball State didn't respond kindly to the quick score and answered with one of their own. Ball State which got big plays (which the Zips defense has been abundantly prone to surrendering) from Shane Morris, Morris ended up hooking up with his wide receiver on the run to score a touchdown on a long play.

The Zips offense slowed down as they opted to churn out the ground and pound rather than push the aerial attack and risk a mistake. The Zips moved cleanly downfield, and deep in the red zone, it'd be a hand off to J.T. Blyden, his first of three touchdowns in a run between guard and tackle, lowering the shoulder to get into the end zone.

The teams would trade quick possessions before the Ball State Cardinals would drive downfield quickly. Shane Morris dropped back to find Steve Brunner open on a slant and the wide out would twist his way out of a tackle to go for the score to knot the game. Leading to another spell of the teams trading possessions.

The Cardinals found a hole in the Zips defensive armor and pounded that with a huge run that ended up being a 88 yard score, with the half back changing directions multiple times and following his blockers to make his way into the end zone for a big score, the lead that the Cardinals wouldn't surrender until the final seconds of the game. The Cardinals would knot in a field goal before the half.

The Zips utilized an excellent Darian Green return to start in favorable field position and within twenty seconds, they would score as Chandler Kincade dropped back and hit a wide open Fransohn Bickley for a forty yard touchdown that would send the game into the half with a 21-24 score that would promise a close game, even though the Cardinals dominated the majority of the second half.

The teams offenses sputtered in the second half, at least for the most part, despite combining for thirty points, the offenses just couldn't get much going. On a single drive, Shane Morris took control to extend his teams lead, once more finding Steve Brunner on a 14 yard pass to cap off a 7-8 passing drive that they traveled the length of the field after an excellent punt from te Zips to extend the lead to ten, 21-31. Before the end of the third, the Zips would manage to get into field goal range for Tom O'Leary and he would knock in the field goal for a 24-31 score heading into the final frame.

The Cardinals went halfway through the period before they would get another score, this time on a short scamper after yet another long drive orchestrated by Shane Morris, the Michigan transfer carried the Cardinals on Saturday, but just couldn't get enough support to claim victory. The score was 24-38 and with four to go, the Zips appeared out of it.

Those words wouldn't come out of Chandler Kincade's mouth, though as his team drove the length of the field in a little over two minutes to allow J.T. Blyden to punch the ball in on a speed option call that would see Kincade leave the game with an injury, which would sideline him the remainder of the game. With starting quarterback Chandler Kincade out and knowing how strong Shane Morris was performing, the Zips shocked the Cardinals by coming out for two, and J.T. Blyden would punch it in for the score to make it a six point game, 32-38.

The Zips would kick off the ball deep, rather than the onside kick due to the red hot Shane Morris, rathering not allowing the Cardinals to get into field goal position, and burning two time outs, they got a quick three and out, a pass play on third and long would sail out of bounds and the Zips were back on offense. The Zips got a good punt return, but the difference between Tommy Woodson and Chandler Kincade was noticeable, but it did have a few unexpected positives.

A pair of big passes of 14 and 22 yards to Jeff Parker and Justin Matthews sent the Zips quickly downfield, before on a second and ten, the wide receivers went deep and Tommy Woodson unable to find anyone took off, and ran the ball down to the 18 with just 29 seconds to go, they would hurry to the line and try to complete a quick pass which would fall harmlessly short. With one time out, the Zips wanted to get a little closer to the end zone to try another shot at it, and decided to run an option with a little over twenty seconds left.

The speed option went to the right side and a big block freed Tommy Woodson, who charged upfield, drawing the safety which led to a clean pitch to J.T. Blyden, and the crowd went silent. The path to the end zone was clear, and the second year Sophomore dove into the end zone to tie the score with an extra point pending. Tom O'Leary lined up for the extra point, the kicker had missed a pivotal extra point earlier in the season, and the Cardinals sent everything, but the ball would lift over the defense and crack the net, between the uprights to score.

The Zips kicked the ball deep to the Cardinals and the ball would be knelt down in the end zone for a touchback giving Shane Morris 14 seconds to manufacture a miracle. On first down, the blitz off the right end would prove to be too much, and newly appointed starter Anthony Clark knocked the ball out of Shane Morris's hand and brought him down for the sack, the Zips would jump ontop of the ball and celebrate their victory after the whistle blew to signal the play over. The offense came out and knelt down to run out the clock, giving the Zips an improbable victory.

        Week 9 Recap
The Top ranked squads aren't changed for the most part. The Bruins, Seminoles, Buckeyes remain the top three while quality wins at the top caused minor jostling among teams. Arizona State joins the list of recent one loss squads, losing for the first time of the year in a 45-26 rout from the USC Trojans in what would kick off football action.

The MIchigan Wolverines survived an early scare to hang a thirteen point victory on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Wolverines continue to climb slowly up the polls as the undefeateds are slowly fading from the list, while the Wolverines just continue to look better. The season ending matchup against the Buckeyes is becoming more and more a national matchup.

Speaking of the Buckeyes, they won't leave the rank of the undefeated. The Purdue Boilermakers took them on, and needless to say, it was an ugly appearance from the largely helpless Boilermakers in this one, the Buckeyes hang 49 on their B1G rivals, while allowing just seven.

The Texas Longhorns are gradually climbing up the ranks, in doing so, they made a statement victory, by beating the Texas Christian Horned Frogs. The Frogs lose yet again and have had a forgettable season following last years success. The Longhorns are edging slowly towards the rankings, and this win is a trend in the right direction.

North Carolina cannot keep up with the Yellow Jackets, who slowly start to move up the polls yet again. The Jackets were ranked at #3 not too long ago but that seems to just be a memory as of late. This victory starts them moving upwards again, but their main hope is somehow stunning the Seminoles to claim a spot in a BCS Bowl.

Alabama won last week 18-17, this week they took on the Tennessee Volunteers and fell 17-18, and in reciprocating their score from a week ago, fall to 3-4 on the season, the worst start under Nick Saban, that this team has had. The Tide have a lot of talent but have been blown away in SEC competition.

          Week 9
          Coaching Recap

For another week our coaches are winless, but there is still some hope yet. Massachusetts saw an overtime game against a bowl bound Cincinnati squad that had once been considered the favorite in the American, goto extra frames before they conceded in a tight matchup. If that isn't improvement, I don't know what is. The Minutemen controlled the pace and tempo and were neck and neck with the Bearcats throughout, a rather impressive showing.

Likewise for the Wyoming Cowboys, it's hard to put this team down as they hung strong with a quality Fresno State squad. Eric Grant's offense isn't scoring at a very high rate but he's putting his team into positions to win, and that's what matters. The Cowboys just cannot get into the 20 point range, which would have their record be looking a lot prettier than it is now.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves had the week off of action.

Chandler Kincade, Zips run over Miami

The announcing crew in the regional broadcast of this one had this pegged as a potential upset at the conclusion of one. The Miami Red Hawks were up by a thin margin 0-3, but the Zip offense was anemic, incapable of doing much of anything and just struggling all around. It all seemingly changed as the game shifted into the second quarter and from than on, the better team won out. All was well, until late in the game when the Zips found out that Kincade suffered a somewhat major injury to his foot and he would miss more action than this one.

See, the Zips have a crucial matchup next week against the Ohio Bobcats, and losing their top quarterback and likely top offensive player is a devastating blow. It was later revealed to be a turf toe injury, but the 5-3 Zips could be without their signal caller for the remainder of the regular season.

The Zips offense didn't start rolling until the second when the ground game returned to life, with all three halfbacks getting a decent amount of carries in the frame and all proving to be good in their individual roles. Darian Green would be the first back to light up the scoreboard, when he punched the ball in from a yard out to get the Zips offense rolling.

On the next drive, it was J.T. Blyden, who turned a small screen play into a big touchdown completion after following his blockers and utilizing his speed to get separation, put the Zips up by a 14-3 lead, and midway through the second quarter, the momentum had completely swung as the Zips appeared ready to pour it on.

A final touchdown before halftime would be made when Justin Matthews caught the ball in the seam and ran over the safety en route to a twenty-six yard touchdown. Matthews has been used a lot more this season and has displayed commonly why the Zips are so high on their sophomore tight end. The Redhawks would show life out of the tunnel, when Spencer McInnis found a crease on a blocking play and shot down field, going untouched for a 49 yard score in what would ultimately be the last hurrah for this Red Hawk offense.

The Zips scored 17 unanswered to close out the game from than on, the big run from Spencer McInnis was followed by the longest run under Tyler Kozlov when J.T. Blyden found himself wide open in space and no one would catch him to bring down the third year sophomore, as Blyden sped off for his second touchdown of the afternoon and a 28-10 lead over Miami.

Xavier Lane, an athlete high school stand out got his first scoring action of his career, Lane figures heavily into the receiving corp down the road, but with the amount of depth the Zips have, he isn't as much of a target quite yet, he caught the ball in the flat and faked out a defender to score on a short dink and dunk pass from Chandler Kincade.

It would be on the following drive where Chandler Kincade would go down with an injury and Tommy Woodson would come on yet again in relief. This time he appeared rather calm, or rather the RedHawks had already conceded defeat, slowly leading the Redhawks downfield for what would end up to be an extremely short field goal try to close out the game.

The Zips improve to 5-3 on the season, but it came at a major price. This team, two thirds of the way through the season didn't need anymore adversity than it had already overcome, this team has won five straight but now must conclude their regular season without their starting quarterback. Tommy Woodson, has been solid in replacement of Kincade through two games this season but he hasn't proven he can win when a whole game is placed on his shoulder, now he will have four more opportunities.

The Zips take on the Ohio Bobcats next week, in what could eliminate Ohio from MAC East contention if the Zips claim victory. The Zips are inching closer to clinching the East, which would make the final game against Bowling Green more irrelevant so the loss of Kincade could be somewhat mitigated, but this is a team that would love to finish with double digit wins for the first time in school history and that just got much harder.

              Week 10 Recap

The upsets didn't come rolling in like previous weeks had, with the top six standing pat as the teams didn't move at all in the rankings. All either resting or winning to stay atop the NCAA polls for yet another week, with just four more weeks (plus conference championships) remaining, the teams are proving to make a run deep, and this could cause quite an interesting conclusion to the season.

The big upset? The Stanford Cardinal took care of the Oregon Ducks, who appeared to be over an early season upset that had knocked them down earlier in the season previously. The Cardinal did so with strong defense and a ground and pound attack that took control of the clock, limiting the Quack Attack's offensive output in a big ways. A successful evening for the Stanford side which jumps up from being unranked all the way to 21 in the latest polls.

Michigan did what they were expected to do, they took care of business against the Michigan State Spartans whom had small hopes of upsetting their rivals. The Spartans offense made too many costly mistakes, a sub 30% 3rd down success rate and 4 turnovers was more than enough to eliminate the Spartans in this one.

Minnesota is in the publications this week, due to their halfback Jones claiming the Golden Gophers are the real deal, that he is unhappy with the lack of press coverage that his team has been receiving, and that his team can (And will) beat the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes to close out the season atop the B1G and compete for a national title. Long aspirations for the one loss squad, but they are just on the outside looking in and haven't received much fanfare.

Texas A&M takes care of Ole Miss in the battle of the bottom squads in the SEC. The Aggies haven't done much with themselves this season, and the Rebels have fallen off in huge ways after success just a few seasons ago, they've returned to their poor football ways. Speaking of poor football, the Nebraska Cornhuskers dismantled the Illini, the same Illini that fought the Wildcats to the bitter end, and nearly stunned the Buckeyes. Which Illini team is the real deal?

                Week 10
                Coaching Update

Only one of our coaches were able to escape from the losing rut this week, but they did so in grand fashion. The Arkansas State Red Wolves capitalized on a weak front seven for their opponents in UTEP to run for over 300 yards and devastate a six point favorite on their home turf.

UTEP saw their quarterback rush for 160 yards and their halfback added 156 and three touchdowns to spur the offense on in this victory. A big statement win for the Red Wolves whom needed some kind of hope for the rest of the season, they still would have to win out for a chance at a bowl game which seems unlikely.

Out in the mountains, it was the Wyoming Cowboys falling to the Brigham Young Cougars. This result surprised no one, the Cougars are out classing their competition in the Mountain West and the Cowboys were no different. Their quarterback had a decent game in passing for 200 yards with a 55% completion rate and two touchdowns. The Cowboys couldn't emerge on top and will have to suffer this tough loss.

Quinn Retney nearly picked up his first victory as head coach when his squad took on the Connecticut Huskies in this week of action and when their halfback piled on over 200 rushing yards, it definitely appeared the Minutemen had a chance at a big victory, it just wouldn't happen though thanks to a late 14 point rally that shot the Huskies past their rivals in a tightly contested game.

Defensive slugfest ends with Zips besting Bobcats 7-3

This game was a defensive struggle, no doubts about that. Both teams were predicated on a weak offensive showing, especially with the Zips missing Chandler Kincade and the Zips defense stepping up in a big way to help secure the victory for Akron, something that appeared unlikely until late in the game. The Zips offense didn't even contend for a score until the final moments.

All except for a big play, an interception that would've given the Zips their first points. Defensive back Nick Higgins reeled in an errant pass, than proceeded to bob and weave his way through the opposition, some timely blocks and a key broken tackle right on midfield led him free for a touchdown, where he dived in the end zone, half from exhaustion, half from elation. Sadly, it'd be called back due to a clipping penalty on the wrong end of the field due to a poor decision from the Zips.

With the touchdown called back, it led the Zips to a punt when they were brought back to their own forty, and it would eventually lead to the Bobcat field goal which when it was knotted through definitely appeared to have the game wrapped up, after all Tommy Woodson had been inefficient all game and had led to six Zip turnovers.

Somehow despite everything, the Zips rallied for one final drive, and utilizing quick passing and option running on short yardage situations, the Zips through using all of their time outs managed to score a touchdown, on second and goal, a quick slant to Jeff Parker would be reeled in and suddenly the Zips who had no offense all game long secured the game in the final seconds.

The Zips are very much so reeling from the lack of Chandler Kincade, Tommy Woodson completed just 45% of his passes, while many had hoped he would make plays with his legs and still keep this offense afloat, a short week of a new playbook appeared to be a demise of that philosophy, the Zips were struggling on the offensive end, with Woodson's three interceptions, two fumbles and sub-20 rushing yards. In fact third string runner, Mykel Traylor for the top rusher for the Zips this afternoon, with his three carries going for thirty yards.

On the opposite end, the Bobcats weren't very good on offense but they didn't do much to hurt themselves, the lone Joey Duckworth interception would've been game changing had it not been called back due to clipping, and a pair of fumbles on the ground which dwarfed the six turnovers by the Akron side.

The Zips still aren't in control of this division, as long as Kent State continues to win, the Zips will have to win, the Zips draw a Bulls team that once again is vastly outperforming expectations before getting the Golden Flashes, and the Zips will have to win both to claim their division, otherwise they must hope for a lot of luck. This win improves the Zips to 6-3, the Zips have won six straight, but are one of the few teams that can go on such a streak and not be considered "hot".

Two players that are getting national recognition however are Ahmad Watts and Jeff Parker, Watts is considered a top three candidate for the top linebacker of the year award, and he made another case today, with 13 tackles, six in the back field, a sack and scooping up a fumble and getting some yards with it. Watts has had a tremendous season and it's clear why he is gaining such accolades, Watts has been a force since his freshman year.

Jeff Parker came into this game among the NCAA leaders in yardage and near the top in touchdowns, while he didn't do much to bolster either case, he shined when his team needed to, and while the senior is just a dark horse candidate for the Fred Bilentikoff award, he will undoubtedly be considered the best in the MAC, he has shredded the opposition secondaries all season long.

                    Week 11 Review

The Bruins and Seminoles appear primed for a birth into the national championship game and definitely aren't holding anything back between the two teams. Even so, the layout beneath them saw a stark change as two of the top B1G teams tumbled this week, with Michigan and Ohio State finding themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

Michigan State a team that can join Georgia as the "high expectations but fails to live up to them" group, came into this season and promptly lost two early season contests. While they are climbing the ranking still, and the number of unbeaten programs shrinks, they are still hard pressed to be included into any championship game scenario at this point.

Minnesota had a player guarantee victories over Michigan and Ohio State en route to a title game, at the very least it seems that for one week, they were correct, as the Gopher took a ten point victory over the Michigan Wolverines, the Gophers led by as much as 21 at one point before the Wolverines started to come back.

Florida State remains unbeaten as the Seminoles claimed another victory, this time by beating the Clemson Tigers. The Seminoles were a powerful on all ends of the ball and forced the Tigers into five turnovers and just 10 offensive points, in what many expected to be a closer game.

Arizona State took a tough loss, as the UCLA Bruins took care of business in Pasadena, the Bruins have just two regular season contests remaining but appear ready to make another title game appearance, and this time they appear as favorites. Scoring 38 on the Sun Devils, the Bruins offense continues to click as it has all season.

The Miami Hurricanes haven't had much to celebrate this season, but at least they have a victory at the hands of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to show for it, the Canes came in as steep underdogs against a Georgia Tech squad that just cannot seem to regain it's footing, and the Hurricanes made sure to make their mark be felt, punishing the Yellow Jackets with four forced fumbles in the victory.

                      Week 11 Recap

After a blitz through their schedule, the Minutemen will finally get some rest, this time with a 0-11 record and the season already lost. It's been a tough year for Quinn Retney, taking on a team that didn't have much going for it in the first place, much less one that went through as many injuries as it did and still managed to retain some of it's float. Yes, this week is yet another week with a close game for the Minutemen who have been unable to capitalize in these situations. It wouldn't be a bowl season even if they had, but it'd been a better record than their present two season losing streak would entail. This week it was the Temple Owls that bested the Minutemen, despite a strong performance from their halfback, with AJ Doyle potentially capable of returning for the final game against Northern Illinois, a win there would be huge.

Down south, the Red Wolves battled the UL-Monroe Warhawks and their offense was simply too much to contain as they routed the Warhawks thanks to a dominating offensive end and a defensive unit that rose to the occasion in action. The Warhawks jumped out to an early 10-0 lead that would be decimated by a 35 point scoring outburst in the first half by the Red Wolves.

Than, up to the north, the Wyoming Cowboys knocked off a Pacific 12 foe in the Washington State Cougars. The Cougars are in the midst of yet another poor season as was expected, but many expected the Cougars to be able to beat a sub.500 mid major. The offense coached by Eric Grant proved that to be far from the truth, scoring 49 points in victory over the Cougars.

Zips rally offensively for second half victory

The first half appeared to go the way that the Ohio game had. Staunch defense with a little offense peppered in, but this teams defensive tendency of giving up a big play stepped in and impeded the teams ability to wear down the clock and score just a few points, and that was when Tommy Woodson rose to the occasion. Needless to say he struggled in the aerial attack, as many expect him to, his passing abilities aren't nearly as refined as Chandler Kincade, but his legs are definitely better.

It was when the Zips took to the ground that the passing game opened up somewhat and allowed for a pair of scores through the air, in a game that was largely dominated by the Zips spread option offense and Troy Flutie making plays for the Bulls in the mean the time.

The Bulls got great outputs from their offense as Jordan Johnson piled up a tremendous game on the day, thanks in large to tremendous blocking from the big men on the line. The Bulls had four runs of 20+ yards in this one, including one in the early second quarter that put the Bulls temporarily in front of the Zips in a 0-7 score. The Zips would manage to respond on their next drive thanks to dink and dunk offense mixed with a lot of read option and natural running plays, the Zips whose ground game had been a weakness all year long managed to churn out yardage on their way to a long drive and Tommy Woodson would tuck the ball in the red zone for a short scoring run that would tie the game.

Ten answered thanks to a pair of Tommy Woodson interceptions were what would follow, Troy Flutie answered an interception with a long touchdown heave to wide out Jordan Shay that would go for 43 yards and the lead, the Bulls would nurse the lead all the way into the fourth quarter, adding to their own lead with a field goal before the half after yet another Tommy Woodson interception.

Coming out of the tunnels, the Zips knew they couldn't be one dimensional, their air attack was lacking and the ground game was suffering as a result, utilizing short passes, they started to churn downfield, mixing in running plays which grew more effective as the passing attack succeeded, and on a quick hit to Jeff Parker, the senior wideout made a move and broke into the end zone for the touchdown, bringing the Zips within 3.

Buffalo not to be outdone, forced a fourth Tommy Woodson interception that would result in a second field goal for the Buffalo side, the Bulls held onto the six point lead going into the fourth quarter when the Zips would strike again.

It was early, in a drive spanning the end of the third and the top of the fourth, the Zips managed to get downfield yet again, and on an option play, Darian Green took off on a delayed pitch and outran the safety to the pylon, making his way in for the go ahead score as the stadium came alive, with six minutes left in the game, the Zips had a 21-20 lead, but big plays were still in play.

A 13 yard completion was followed by a 27 yard run that had the Bulls just outside of field goal range, but an ill-fated pass would be intercepted by Ahmad Watts (whom earned player of the game honors with another tremendous performance), and suddenly the Zips were starting a drive in their opponents end of the field.

Offensively, the Zips reverted to a ground heavy game, churning out yards as they burned out the clock quickly, and despite not much efficiency, the Zips would make their way to the red zone, and on the goal line, on third and goal, the Zips opted to run a pass, catching the Bulls off guard, a clean pass to Jeff Parker, with the senior leaping into the end zone would put the Zips up by 7. Attempting a two point to put the game entirely out of reach, the Zips passed to Jordan Matthews, and he'd be dragged down on the goal line, after placing the ball, it was ruled he didn't cross the plane and the Zips were to kick off with just a 7 point lead.

Luckily for the Zips, on the first play, Troy Flutie connected with Wesley Taylor, the junior cornerback reeled in the ball and quickly collapsed to the ground, his defense swarming him as they celebrated, the Bulls leaving the field with their heads hung. The Bulls still had a small shot, with three time outs and 50 seconds for a quick three and out, but on third and 4, J.T. Blyden managed to stretch the ball past the marker before being brought down, and the first down would kill the game. Lining up in the victory formation, Tommy Woodson would kneel the ball, as the crowd erupted in celebration. The Zips had won their sixth straight game.

"It's a growing experience for all of us, we are adapting to the players on the field and what the opposition throws at us. We aren't winning pretty, but at the end of the day what matters is that you have more points than the team across from you and for the sixth straight time that was us. We haven't had any trouble in the MAC, and next week we can claim the MAC East title, the boys are ready and we are. It's a rivalry game and it can decide who goes to the MAC Championship against Indiana, I don't care who is under center, anyone that isn't fired up doesn't belong on the field. End of story." The Words of head coach Tyler Kozlov, whom was clearly energetic in his teams victory.

                            NCAA Wrap-up Week 12

The list of unbeatens has found itself to be down to two as the season rears towards it's final two weeks. Only UCLA and LSU remain as the sole unbeatens with the B1G rounding up the rear of the top five, vying for a playoff birth that could very well feature two B1G teams in this years first ever 4 team playoff.

UCLA took care of business when they took on the Arizona Wildcats in what some were calling a trap game, the Wildcats are a team playing at a .500 level but were considered to be at least two wins better than their record, and many expected UCLA to overlook this program, but the Bruins proved that they do what they've done all season, win. The Bruins knocked out the Wildcats early, shooting out to a 35-3 lead in the first half before cruising to an easy 49-23 victory.

Georgia is starting it's reclaimation efforts and find themselves in the top 25 once again after losing four straight contests to knock them to a click above .500, the Bulldogs season derailed early but at the very least, a victory over the Auburn Tigers can offer some consolation for a team needing any sign of hope. The Bulldogs won't be a factor in the playoff bidding but a victory is still pivotal none the less.

Florida State joins Oklahoma in the loss column this week as two top teams take a dive in a stunning development. The #2 Florida State Seminoles went to Chestnut Hill as 17 point favorites only to walk away with their first loss of the season. Jameis Winston was intercepted twice, and was kept in check by a surprisingly tough Boston College defense which held the Seminoles to 17 points.

Oklahoma's defense just couldn't stop the Cyclones offensive unit. Oklahoma surrendered 42 points to the Cyclones offense including 21 in the fourth quarter to allow the Cyclones to rally past the Sooners. Oklahoma's offense moved quickly downfield early but began to saunter down the pace later in the game.

South Carolina held onto a tight game against the Florida Gators. The Gators had no offense in this one, as the Gamecocks defense shut them down at virtually every opportunity allowing just ten points to their SEC rivals in a game that was ultimately a defensive struggle (17-10).

Minnesota will have to bite their words this week when the Buckeyes traveled up north and dismantled the Gophers with a 49-20 victory. The Gophers whom had a player predict a victory over the Buckeyes, will likely have to stay off social media for a while, the Buckeyes took care of business with a victory.

                              Week 12
                              Coaching Recap

Sadly, in the first year of our coaches ventures, it doesn't appear any will be making a bowl game. Despite this, all three coaches have reasons to be proud of themselves this season. Wyoming has been on a tear offensively as of late, averaging over 300 yards per game and their points per game was constantly trending upwards. Where as the Red Wolves have had the best rush offense in the Sunbelt. Massachusetts came in as by far the worst team in the American and despite injuries to five starters, they've been competitive in some games.

The Cowboys were knocked from bowl eligibility this week when they allowed a late touchdown to the New Mexico Lobos that gave them a 28-24 lead inside of the two minute mark, Young couldn't lead his team downfield and ultimately tossed a pick in the final seconds to secure the Lobos victory.

The Redwolves are 4-6 but it appears that all of the Sunbelt's bowl bids will have been locked up and it's hard to see someone pick a 6-6 Sunbelt squad for an at large bid. The Wolves took care of business today, with Moorehead picking up a pair of receiving touchdowns to secure the victory over the New Mexico State Aggies.

Woodson, Parker duo rout Flashes to bring Wagon Wheel to Akron

"Have you seen them play lately? They are on their last legs. We are going to put them out of their misery and we'll be representing the MAC East against Indiana in Detroit. End of Story. Our offense is too good, and the boys on defense will back us up!" The confident words of Kent State quarterback Colin Reardon in a bit of hype in the build up to one of the biggest games in the history of this rivalry, the Zips were definitely coming in limping, but you better believe that those printed words were put all over the locker room.

"Definitely, I put them right on my locker. I wasn't going to let that go without him knowing we knew." Spoke Anthony Clark, the sophomore defensive end had two sacks on the quarterback, whom took four sacks on the day, all in punishing hits as the Zips punished the Flashes physically for their pregame fervor.

The Zips offense came out gunning, especially Jeff Parker whom finished with over 170 receiving yards, leading the game in that total while also having a touchdown reception which further shot him up the national charts. Parker has been having a tremendous year, and he is being considered a fringe NFL prospect with the level of production he has enjoyed this season. Parker struck at the end of the first quarter, when he broke free of his defensive back on a fly and the pass was lofted beautifully to him, he made three long receptions that netted about 115 yards on the day, while a few more smaller catches rounded that number up further.

The Zips were fast to a 24-3 lead, taking that lead into half time after a pair of touchdown passes from Tommy Woodson, than a tuck and run up the middle for the touchdown off a read option saw the embattled quarterback put his squad up by a trio of touchdowns. Even leading his team downfield for a field goal in the final seconds of the half to return their lead to 21.

"They were talking bad about us all week, we prefer to let the play on the field do the talking. I've had my own faults but we continue to win, and that's what matters. We're doing what we need to do out there, and I had a pretty good half, only can go up from here." Spoke Tommy Woodson to an ESPN3 anchor whom had been televising this game.

Woodson has been a turnover machine since he has taken the reins but on this day, he only had one, a fumble due to a muffled pitch that would be more credited to Mykel Thompson than Woodson. That would come in the third quarter at his own 27, and yet the defense held and didn't even allow a field goal, that was the type of game these Zips were having.

Adding onto the score, was Tommy Woodson who led his team downfield quickly at the end of the third before another read option inside the three would see the quarterback tuck and run up the middle, darting his way to the quick score and a 31-3 lead, the biggest of the day and ultimately the final Akron score.

The final score of the evening came when the Zips defense finally caved to the ground attack allowing a pair of big runs and a solid completion from Colin Reardon to set them up in Zip territory, Hibbler would take a pitch outside and follow his blockers to get his teams lone touchdown on the day, the Zips would run the clock down and smother the Flashes offense to close out the day and extend their winning streak.

This game was big, with Chandler Kincade's return possible next week, but more likely the championship game, the MAC East was won on this day, over their rivals. The Zips will head to their second ever MAC Championship game which will feature the Indiana Hoosiers.

"It's a tremendous feeling, to have claimed our division and beaten our rivals on the same night. They did a lot of talking but we showed why you can't always talk the night before. We had some struggles, but our boys did what I knew they would and took care of business. This is a big one for us, and we can spend our day celebrating it tomorrow. Monday it's back to business, we still have Bowling Green to close out the season." Spoke Tyler Kozlov. His Zips received 49 votes in the latest polls, behind Indiana in the MAC which had 289 votes. Still for a team losing it's starting quarterback, to be in the position they are in is a tremendous sign of this teams resilience as they look to lock up their first MAC Championship under Tyler Kozlov.
