    Week 4 Update

Corey Warby (HC) of the UAB Blazers (SB)
    (1-2)(0-1) BYE
    379.3 YDS (84) 20.3 PPG
    373.7 DYDS (53) 29 PAPG
    Top Performer:

Quinn Retney (HC) of the UMass Minutemen (AMER)
    (1-3)(0-1) L 23-26 @ Washington State Cougars (1-1)
    314 YDS (#118) 19.8 PPG
    413.3 DYDS (#84) 28.25 PAPG
Top Performer: David Gray (HB) 130 RuYds 1 TD

Sophomore David Gray has come on strong for the Minutemen in ways that many never expected him to. The Sophomore had another terrific showing with a touchdown and breaking the century mark in Quinn Retney's spread option attack. Sadly a 14 point third quarter led by a largely quiet showing from the offense spurred the Cougars to victory in Week 4.

John Valkyrie (HC) of the UL-Monroe Warhawks (SB)
    (0-3)(0-0) L 10-41 @ Wisconsin Badgers (1-2)
    287 YDS (122) 17 PPG
    381 DYDS (63) 35.3 PAPG
Top Performer: Jacob Tyson (DE) 8 Tackles 6 For Loss 2.5 Sacks

The Warhawks came in heavy underdogs to a surprisingly winless Badger squad that was looking to pick up a value in it's win column for the first time this season. The Badgers set out for a victory and absolutely annihilated the Warhawks, who couldn't muster over 180 yards of total offense but conceded over 200 more yards on the opposite end. The Warhawks are still seeking their first victory of the year.

Eric Grant (HC) of the Idaho Vandals (SB)
    (1-2)(0-1) L @ UNLV (3-0) 28-12
    282.7 YDS (124) 17.7 PPG
    498.7 DYDS (120) 33.3 PAPG
Top Performer: Dan Ungerer (WR) 6 Rec 153 ReYds 1 TD

The Vandals threw everything they had at the undefeated Rebels of UNLV but the Las Vegas program swung back. Anytime the Vandals started to throw a comeback in this one, the Rebels ran away with it. The Rebels got on board late in the first with a touchdown pass that would give them the lead through the rest of the game, a pair of Idaho field goals would be the closest the Vandals would get in this one, a 6-7 deficit that would be blown open by 21 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes of the matchup. A late touchdown pass to Dan Ungerer would be the lone touchdown on the afternoon.

Tyren Jones ran all over the Aggies defense on a rainy Saturday

      15 @ 48

      Tide roar to aerial victory

Nick Saban doesn't like spread option attacks that utilize uptempo pacing to keep the defense off balance. It's a well known fact to the point that some consider it his kryptonite when the Tide seemed so unbeatable in the late 2000's. That was an adage that Tyler Kozlov and the Aggies were hoping still rang true but at the end of the day, even if it is, the Aggies offense just wasn't capable of competing.

Beaten off the blocks, beaten at the point of attack and option runs getting smothered before anything can develop were the common place events that happened as the game drug on. It did however seem that the Aggies did have some semblance of an opportunity to hang into this game at least early in the first half.

The Tide ran rampant on their first drive, getting into the endzone without much difficulty, the Tide were showing their expertise on the field and showed they earned their ranking, and did so by crushing the opposition on the defensive end, no play going for less than ten yards as the Tide flew downfield to get their first points on the afternoon.

The rain was coming down in buckets and a poor Utah State passing attack was largely vacated through two and a half quarters as receivers were slipped and not gripping the ball well, but the ground game got some traction, moving the ball for a long time before having to punt the ball, but there was some hope.

A few stops and playing time control could keep the Aggies right in this one, and the Aggies managed to knot the score in the second at a 7-7 tie when Damion Hobbs tucked the ball on an option and zipped right up the middle for an easy score to make it a tied game, the Aggies wouldn't seriously compete again however as the Tide would rattle off 31 unanswered spanning the end of the second and third quarters to turn this tightly knotted game into a rout.

The Aggies didn't stop fighting however, not until the final whistle and on a third and long, and a pass towards Jipson would be knocked in the air with the wide out managing to pull in the badly tipped ball and drag a foot to score the final touchdown of the afternoon for the Aggies, whom hoping to stay competitive went for two and shrunk the lead to 23, hoping to eliminate the field goal from the equation in the off chance there would be a comeback.

There wouldn't. Back up quarterback Cooper Bateman would connect with Robert Foster to kill any odd hope of a comeback, extending the lead to thirty with just 4 and a half minutes to go, the Aggies who still fought just couldn't make anything happen. The Aggies offense would start to move but an interception quickly stemmed the tide and led to a chip shot field goal that would serve as the final score.

Once more the Aggies offense drove downfield, but yet again the ball would be intercepted, this time to end the game as the backups came out on the field in victory formation, kneeling the clock as the Aggies didn't use their final three time outs in the final minute, allowing the clock to run to 0, as Tuscaloosa erupted in support of yet another Crimson Tide victory.

"It sucks but we knew this would be a tough one when we scheduled it. Our boys fought until the end and we can take that proudly. We learned a lot about our offense and our capabilities and as long as we continue to learn and grow, this team can continue to improve."

        NCAA Week 4 Wrap Up

Adam Lane Jr was the big name this week as the Florida Halfback piled up over 200 rushing yards as his Gators knocked off fellow Heisman frontrunner Jalen Hurd. Lane Jr's Gators piled on a 48-27 beating of the Tennessee Volunteers. The Gators looked dominant throughout and proved they were the better team as they vaulted to the top spot in the country. This is a dangerous team and Lane Jr may be one of the best halfbacks since Adrian Peterson if he continues at such a pace.

Staying in the SEC, the Aggies knocked off the South Carolina Gamebirds who now go home with their second consecutive loss in what will be a difficult to stomach defeat that sees their quarterback slip from heisman contention as the Gamebirds prove to be more pretender than contender. A tough fall yet again for this team which has been bad when it comes to the spotlight.

Two upsets shocked the nation this week, starting with the smaller one the Oregon Ducks fell to the now ranked USC Trojans. The Trojans lone loss on the season belongs to Boise State, while Oregon knows has one loss to their name and a nine spot fall in the latest polls. The other upset happened out East as the Michigan Wolverines whom came into the season with high expectations fell out of the polls when they lost 37-14 in embarrassing fashion to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Heading to the Big 12, both Oklahoma programs stepped up big over their southern rivals as Oklahoma claimed a shoot out victory over TCU to claim their first victory of the season. Where as State took care of the Longhorns in a 31-24 matchup, the Cowboys were tight, which shook their expectations somewhat. The teams were fighting hard, but the Cowboys avoided the upset.

          Week 5 Update

Eric Grant (HC) of the Idaho Vandals (SB)
          (1-3)(0-2) L 28-31 vs San Jose State Spartans (3-1)
          305.3 YDS (120) 20.3 PPG

Top Performer: Matt Linehan (QB) 19-31 248 PaYds 3 TD 1 INT 10 RuYds

A furious late rally wouldn't be enough for the Vandals to improve to .500 on the season against a talented San Jose State squad. The Spartans came in a two touchdown favorite and the Vandals held their own thanks to excellent quarterback play and a defense which rose to the occassion in the second half. Sadly allowing 24 first half points was enough to cause too much trouble for the Vandals to overcome.

Corey Warby (HC) of the UAB Blazers (SB)
          (1-3)(0-3) L 24-45 @ UL-Monroe Warhawks (1-3)

Top Performer: Collin Lisa (WR) 7 Rec 147 ReYds 1 TD

Collin Lisa had a stand out performance for the UAB Blazers in their defeat, sadly the rest of the offense couldn't match pace, Collin had as many receptions as the rest of the team had. Something that will definitely need to change if this offense wants to keep up in shootouts. Otherwise this is yet another tough loss in the Sunbelt for the Blazers who have lost every game in Sunbelt play this season to date.

Top Performer: Anthony Monken (QB) 31-49 472 PaYds 4 TD 1 INT 39 RuYds

The first ever meeting between our coaches ended with the UL-Monroe Warhawks emerging victorious over their UAB rivals. This victory starts the Warhawks off with their first victory, the final team to earn their first victory on the young season and did so in tremendous fashion behind the huge game piled up by Anthony Monken. The junior quarterback threw for over 400 yards and had four touchdowns as the aerial attack saved the day.

            Week 5 Recap

The Gators tighten their vice grip on all of college football as the Florida University remains atop the Top 25 polls in all of college football, setting up an interesting 1-2 is the Virginia Tech Hokies who are doing terrific despite the retirement of their long time coach.

Brad Kaaya stole the headlines this week as the Miami Hurricanes stormed up the polls from a previously unranked position to capture the 19th spot in college football. Led by a dominating Brad Kaaya, the Hurricanes improved to 4-1 on the season as they won by 14 over their ACC rivals in Louisville, whom picked up their second loss of the season to nose dive out of the top ten.

The previous #1 before the Gators usurped them took a big fall this week as the Buckeyes land in at #12 thanks to a blow out loss to the unranked Wisconsin Badgers. The Buckeyes had been ten point favorites going in, ending up losing by over three touchdowns as a stark contrast from what the projections had, leaving Urban Meyer fuming at the end of the game.

Quarterback Adam Bertke was notably "disgusted" with his teams performance against the North Carolina Wolfpack. The Panthers were stunned in a 8 point defeat, that saw sloppy play all over the football field. The team struggled in big ways, and the main man at the helm who had a solid game but also was plagued by drops, was clearly unhappy in the post game.

In a headlining ACC bout, the Clemson Tigers make a play to the top three with a crucial victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets were slim favorites coming in but the Tigers made them pay by hanging a 16 point victory on the opposition team.

In promising news, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights might have a stud on their hands, true freshman Tim Johnson hauled in 14 receptions and totaled 241 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns for the Scarlet Knights in their run away victory over the Air Force Falcons. Needless to say, if this continues, Johnson will be eying the big leagues soon.

              Utah State Off-Week Recap

The off week produced a lot of positives for this team as they move towards their Big 12 schedule with their out of conference games now complete. The Aggies enter Big 12 play at 1-2 and aren't expected to win another game the entire season. That statement however cannot be uttered around Tyler Kozlov whom has his team believing they can compete on a weekly basis, even after the beating they suffered from the Crimson Tide just a week ago.

The down week did a lot for the future prospects of the program as the team brought in several recruits to show off their campus and make a strong pitch, and that led to quite a few signings for this program.

Jaxon Powers (WR) 3* 6'2 194 North Logan, UT (#148)
Powers brings good speed to the table and decent hands to match. He is an adapt ball carrier with the ball and can make plays in space with his legs. Powers does have difficulties making plays on poorly thrown balls and he isn't the type of wide out to send out on the field with hopes of passes across the middle, bubble screens, fly routes and quick cuts are his bread and butter at this stage in his career.

              Lambert Greene (TE) 3* 6'5 239 Woodland, CA (#58)
Greene adds depth to a unit that doesn't have much of it, with decent speed and great hands for a tight end he will be utilized on passing downs early in his career. He isn't built yet for collegiate run blocking just yet, he would be below average in that aspect but there definitely is room to grow and his strength is in line with freshman tight ends, it's just mechanics that need to be touched up before he becomes an every down end.

              Alex Whitlock (OG) 3* 6'3 290 Livermore, CA (#74)
Whitlock won't be an impact starter his freshman year but there is nothing saying that he cannot be a solid contributor down the road. Whitlock is a tremendous run blocking talent, especially so when it comes to pulls, he gets to top speed quickly and can make the key block to spring his man. His pass blocking could use some work as he has allowed four sacks already this season in high school.

Wynne Archer (OLB) 3* (#86) 6'2 217 Radnor Township, PA
Archer isn't a prototypical outside linebacker and could be faced with a move inside, especially with Kozlov's preference towards speedy outside linebackers, despite that criticism, the outside linebacker displays a good ability to read and diagnose plays, even at his young age, he is decent in zone coverage and he is a consistent tackler.

Reid Horowitz (SS) 3* (#25) 5'11 195 Bullhead City, AZ
Another player that may be out of position in Tyler Kozlov's offense, Hamilton has an odd set of abilities, he is a sure tackler but for a safety his coverage abilities are poor and his speed is lacking, he is slightly average on his ability to read opposing offenses, and his main ability is how he can shed blockers. He could make a move to linebacker where his talent set would be more suitable.

The defense swarmed on the Jayhawks all day

                34 vs 7

Defense dominates the Jayhawks as Aggies rout

The Aggies weren't projected to win a single game this season, and to be two games beyond that projection and have a rout to match is just incredible for this team to possess at this point in time. The Jayhawks didn't appear to be too far out of this game either, after all they were behind just 14-7 heading into the final quarter but an incredible 20 point outburst done behind four scores was enough to send the home crowd into a fury and the team to go ecstatic.

The Jayhawks were the first on the board and definitely appeared ready to cause their own brand of justice upon the Aggies, with a long touchdown drive that ended with a brief punch in up the middle. The Jayhawks 7-0 lead would last all the way through most of the second when the Aggies managed to push the ball downfield slowly but steadily behind a slowly growing passing attack, LaJuan Hunt would capitalize with a touchdown rush on third and goal to tie the score late in the quarter and send the game into the half in a dead lock.

The rallying cries could be heard loudly from the Aggies locker room, as Tyler Kozlov, whom always was one to be energetic and proactive in his stance upon games called upon his team to rally, to fight for the stadium, for their season which could quickly collapse with a loss here. He wanted everyone to acknowledge the chip on their shoulder, newspapers calling for a winless Aggies season were strewn about the locker room, points of emphasis for a coaching staff that wanted the most out of their players.

The cries weren't heard upon deaf ears, and while the Aggies were a little slow out of the gates, an interception halfway through the third set the Aggies up in excellent field position and Damion Hobbs made the secondary pay on a pump fake, connecting with Cedrick Wright on a short outlet pass for a touchdown and a 14-7 lead. The teams would trade possessions once more before a punt would pin the Jayhawks on their own one.

The final play before the end of the quarter would go nowhere and get crashed at the line, leaving the Jayhawks hopes teetering on the brink as the Aggies defense prepared an all out blitz package, and that they would do and despite the Jayhawks halfback, Corey Avery would break tackles but still be dragged down just inside of the goalline for a safety, and the Aggies defense picks up their second safety of the season and jumped out to a 16-7 lead.

Feeding off the energy from their safety, the short punt return would lead to a quick long drive that ended with Damion Hobbs finding Jesse Gipson open on a fly that would go the distance for a 33 yard touchdown. The team would go for a two point conversion and get it on a run up the middle to make their lead 24-7. The Aggies would add a field goal on their following drive to extend their lead to 27-7.

Matters only grew worse for the Jayhawks just when things were starting to pick up, as the Jayhawks managed to drive downfield slowly but steadily, the Kansas side looked poised to go for a score and maybe potentially mount some kind of comeback or at the very least a fight, until Jordan Darling's pass went right to second year freshman, Nate Carter (CB) who ran it back 69 yards for a touchdown, the final nail in the coffin of a 34-7 victory.

The Aggies improve to 2-2 on the season and will need a victory next week at Colorado State to improve above .500, the Aggies are over ten point underdogs for all but two of their remaining contests this season, it'd take substantial upsets to see this team going bowling this year, but even a potential 4-8 finish would be leaps and bounds of an improvement, the Aggies have already won as many times this year as they had the past two years combined.

                  Week 6 Review

Once again a new top team emerges and another contender falls. The Pittsburgh Panthers join the Fighting Irish of the ACC which now has 2 3 loss teams just six weeks into the regular season. It's an odd standard for the rankings, that's easy to state. Yet with a new headcoach at the helm, it's the Virginia Tech Hokies coming out on top of the latest polls, with a 4-0 record they claim the top spot for this week, usurping the Florida Gators who swapped spots with the Hokies.

The SEC got a big boost as Alabama, Tennessee and Texas A&M all moved into the 3,4, and 5 places which could cause an interesting dilemma for the playoff if all three remain highly competitive throughout the season and maybe lead to the first birth of two teams from the same conference. Lingering behind them is a pair of ACC teams in Georgia Tech and Clemson, Clemson took a rough loss this week to fall.

The Hokies took the throne by their upset of the #3 Clemson Tigers which the coaches felt justified a jump over the Gators whose offense has really branched out in recent weeks as Lane Jr has been less stellar than his start suggested he would be. The Hokies notched a tight win in a 27-20 final thanks to a beautiful blend of passing (289) and rushing (174) to claim the victory over the Tigers whom were hoping to finally get over the hump and prove to be a legitimate contender.

Ohio State took care of their B1G opponent, the Northwestern Wildcats. The Wildcats fall from #4 with the defeat while the Buckeyes who are doing everything they can to boost their resume for a potential playoff birth win yet again and climb to #8 from their spot at #12. It was a good leap for a team that is clawing it's way back into the title conversation slowly.

The Fighting Irish (2-3) kept themselves alive in the polls by knocking off their ACC foe in the Miami Hurricanes. The Canes had a wave of momentum coming into this one while the Irish had a .250 winning percentage, it looked like the Irish would have a knock out punch on their 2017 campaign but Malik Zaire had other plans, tossing for a trio of touchdowns and effectively sending the Hurricanes skidding down the polls.

The Bruins once again were stunned by the California Golden Bears, with two consecutive losses to their in state rivals, the Bruins cannot be happy with themselves, this years Bears are unranked and a minimal threat to be a competitor in the Pacific 12. To make things even more laughable, the Bruins lost 35-10, with the Bears scoring 14 of the first 17 and never falling behind.

Matt Linehan willed his team to victory in a battle of Mountain West cellar dwellers that saw the Vandals pick up their second victory of the season. This victory almost didn't happen, a 14 point rally in the final frame. Linehan connected on a long pass for the first score than with just seconds left in the game and a tied score, Linehan tucked the ball and didn't stop until he crossed the plane for a touchdown, the victory a big one for the Vandals.

The Jeff Briscoe show took over center stage as the Blazers did battle with the Bulldogs, needless to say the Bulldogs claimed victory. Not to say the Blazers didn't keep it interesting, they did but the difference in a Sunbelt defense against a SEC offense was just too much to be overcome.

John Valkyrie (HC) of the UL-Monroe Warhawks (SB)
                    (1-4)(1-1) L 38-26 @ Southern Miss (3-1)
                    381.3 YDS (76) 24 PPG
                    354 DYDS (33) 33.6 PAPG
Top Performer: Anthony Monken (QB) 17-30 280 PaYds 3 TD 2 INT 48 RuYds

Tez Parks unleashed himself as the second string halfback slid in nicely to the starting role and made his force known. The Eagles are projected to win their division in the Sunbelt and a tightly contested match against them isn't exactly a bad point for this Warhawk squad which could be a little better than expected in John Valkyrie's first run as head coach. Parks piling up 193 yards would set the pace in this one as the Eagles controled the tempo. After heading into the tunnels with a 28-17 lead, the Eagles ball control game took hold.

Quinn Retney (HC) of the UMass Minutemen (AMER)
                    (1-4)(0-2) L 24-21 @ Northern Illinois (2-2)

                    413.3 DYDS (#84) 27.4 PAPG
Top Performer: David Gray (HB) 138 RuYds 2 TD

David Gray has been spectacular for head coach Quinn Retney but the rest of the team just hasn't been able to rally to the cause. While Gray has been a solid option at the halfback position, the Minutemen will have to win these close ones in moderate scoring games until they get a more dynamic rusher in the backfield. Otherwise the losses will continue to pile up.

                      Week 7 Update

Eric Grant (HC) of the Idaho Vandals (SB)
                      (2-4)(1-3) L 38-10 @ #22 San Diego State Aztecs (6-0)

The undefeated and ranked San Diego State Aztecs welcomed the Idaho Vandals to town and it went as was expected, the Aztecs dominated from start to finish and showed no signs of weakness as they bested their Mountain West rivals. The Vandals managed just 213 yards, compared to San Diego States 479. That's enough to dictate the score.

Corey Warby (HC) of the UAB Blazers (SB)
                      (2-4)(1-3) W 35-21 @ Old Dominion Monarchs (1-4)
                      365 OYDS (97) 26.2 PPG
                      471.7 (121) 33.3 PAPG
Top Performer: Jeff Briscoe (23-51) 357 PaYds 4 TD 3 INT 26 RuYds

Briscoe once more willed his team to victory, yet his common place interceptions are quickly going to be a problem for the Blazers. This could've been a rout without a trio of interceptions to base it upon. It very nearly allowed the Monarchs to come back into this one, as a pair of late interceptions ended up resulting in 7 points, and a 28-21 score. The Blazers however added a touchdown in the final frame on a huge 60 yard touchdown pass to get some padding for the victory.

Top Performer: Austin Whipple (QB) 12-21 196 PaYds 1 TD 12 RuYds 1 TD

The offense didn't stop in this one for the Minutemen, whom after a week of just surrendering a tightly contested matchup, the Minutemen finally jumped out to a lead and held on, knocking off the previously undefeated Boilermakers. Outgaining their opponents, this victory cannot be understated, the Minutemen were 26 point underdogs coming in, to escape with a two point victory is beyond expectations, a phenomenal coaching job from Quinn Retney, there may be some hope for this season.

Damion Hobbs takes to the skies in Colorado

                        13 vs 6

Defense stays strong despite tragedy, saves Aggies

Let it sink in, the Utah State Aggies are 3-2 (despite accidental coverage claiming them to be 2-3 a week ago). The Utah State Aggies whom haven't won more than 1 game the past two seasons have now surpassed their combined win total since joining the Big 12. The Utah State Aggies are playing with a fire, with a passion and sometimes they are just plain getting lucky. Despite having one of the worst aerial coverage units in college football, one that was expected to get diced up by one of the best in Colorado State, they managed to stave the opposition off.

It did help that the Rams oddly decided to favor the run, throwing the ball just five times in the first half as they ran the ball nearly every down they had the ball and at every opportunity they had. It was far from explanation that they would deviate from their bread and butter, their #4 aerial attack to favor one of the league worst ground games.

Maybe they hoped to prove to the Big 12 they weren't one dimensional, that they could beat someone on the ground, but it proved to be anything but true as the Aggies, who played almost an entire half without their starting quarterback managed to knock off the Rams in Big 12 action, not even allowing a touchdown to their opponents all afternoon.

Kennedy William's touchdown in the final moments of the first half, a dink and dunk pass from Damion Hobbs who simply checked down due to pressure saw his halfback get space in the open field and go untouched thanks to a huge block from Cedric Wright inside the ten that skidded the halfback into the endzone to break a scoreless deadlock just before the half. The team grew more excited with each whistle, with each play and the energy carried into the locker rooms.

"No one had us here, no one expected us to have them shut out. The preseason projection had us losing, and the Rams kept winning and that line kept going in favor of them. Were proving we can hang with them, that we can make a bowl game, that we belong in the Big 12. This is a statement, go out there and finish it!"

The team responded with hard hits, quick plays and great reads, despite this there wouldn't be another touchdown scored on the day, in fact Damion Hobbs went down early in the third when he pitched a ball to halfback Lajuan Hunt who made a good gain, but at the whistle, the crowd grew silent.

On the field laid the quarterback, Damion Hobbs writhing in pain and completely unable to help himself off the field, hit hard and square in the chest, the crack of the pads seemed louder, maybe it was the bones cracking that truly rang in the ears of those players. Carried off on a stretcher, he would be taken by ambulance to the local hospital. It was after the game that a lot of fears had been confirmed, he had broken his collarbone and will require surgery, his season and career were done.

The team united on the sidelines, heads bowed as a quick succession of plays that followed resulted in a punt, and the Rams silent ground game got voice, punching the ball downfield was Deron Thompson, the underutilized back helped push the ball downfield but it would end in 3, a 39 yard field goal by Victor Evans would bring the score closer. A quick three and out and once again the Rams threatened, getting down to the goal line before getting stalled, an energetic defense riled up held them out of the end zone and the chip shot field goal of 17 yards was cleanly connected. 7-6.

"Look, they were on the goal line and knocked in a field goal. They didn't try, they gave up. We cannot be like them. They are the favorites and they are settling for field goals. We have to take this game, now or never. We make our statement. We lost a key player, but this game is 11 on 11, the next man steps up and we keep fighting. If for nothing else, fight for Damion."

The words resonated with the Aggies who absolutely smothered the Rams ground game in the final quarter. The Aggies closed out the game with tough defense, making the Rams fight for every yard, but the fight wasn't there. The Rams would start passing after a field goal put the Aggies up by 4, but their lobs downfield wouldn't yield much. A pair of three and outs allowed the Aggies to work the clock.

Than the Rams started to drive again, moving downfield with quick hitting passes and a rare run tossed in for good measure, 10 of his 17 passes coming in the fourth, Coleman Key would help his team downfield before he made a toss, the route would be jumped and the ball intercepted. The ball would be returned deep into Ram territory, and the ground game stepped in, seeking to run down the clock, they would take one run to push the ball inside the seven, but in three downs they would manage to get just to the 2, where they knotted in a chipshot field goal for a second field goal and a 7 point lead with just twenty seconds to go.

A completion followed by three incompletions would be all that left for the game. Coleman Key left the game in utter silence, throwing the ball nearly thirty times less than his average, while Deron Thompson ran the ball nearly three times as much as his average. An uncharacteristic game by the Rams, and the Aggies took advantage for the victory.

Came real close last year, good to see us actually come through early! Program's on a good track I think.

Very impressive start for USU as well, 3-2 was certainly not expected! Really tough to see Hobbs go down like that though. Hope you can guys can keep up the high level of performance without him.

It's good to see Coach Q get a few wins in the tally!

USU has done a lot better than I've expected, especially on defense. There's times when it plays almost lights out and with the amount of holes on that end, it's surprising. I honestly expected to be lucky to have a pair of wins at this point in the season, but we're on a winning streak and could potentially sneak into a bowl bid this year which would be a tremendous leap, but next season is already looking tremendous with the talent brought in so far, and the wide out corp that's going to be returning.

                                Week 7 Recap

The Texas A&M Aggies continue to surge up the polls with yet another victory that has them in interesting territory for the rest of the season, an undefeated first half would hopefully lead to a successful conclusion to the season for the season. The latest victory would come over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and with four SEC teams in the top six, the SEC will have a lot of power battles in the final parts of the season, something that will need to be watched and make some terrific late season conference football.

Speaking of the SEC, halfback Tyren Jones has been on a tear as of late, and shot up the polls, with a three touchdown romp against the Kentucky Wildcats, Jones moved into the favorite spot for the heisman trophy and four of the top five hail from the SEC, all halfbacks, with Marshawn Williams of Virginia Tech the lone representative from any other conference, as a trophy dominated by trophies has none presently in the top five.

Jumping to the ACC, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets knocked off the Louisville Cardinals and sent them out of the top ten while the Yellow Jackets saw just a single spot rise in this weeks polls, a rather surprising turn of events as the Jackets pick up a strong victory but the league is just too top heavy.

The B1G had a pair of big games this week with Nebraska outlasting the unranked Wolverines to claim victory over the favored Wolverine side, but the offense just churned out too much and did more than enough to make the Huskers come out victorious. While the Iowa Hawkeyes nursing a 14 point lead into the final frame, three touchdowns in just seven minutes would turn a victory into a rousing defeat.
