Nice win in a dogfight! The measure of a great team is the ability to pull out the close ones!

Just moved my own kid down to South Florida for college for the first time, so I know exactly where you’re at, man. Definitely no need to rush for this big game vs Tulane. I’ve gotta admit that this game is my most anticipated of any series on these forums!

They know that I am an absolute NCAA Football fanatic, they know I have an affinity for stat keeping for my cyber-football teams, and they know I have an affinity for taking cool photos/videos of plays my team makes using the capture card I bought a few years ago.

What they don't know is that I take all of those things and have basically an online blog with an online audience of people paying attention to my work that I interact with.

I don't think it is something I "hide" at this point per se, but it is more so just one of those things that never come up in conversation; my wife couldn't care less about my gaming time, since she's really only exposed to it in 90 minute blocks basically once per 10 to 14 days. They know when my man cave door is shut for those 90 minutes or so for a game to not bother me, and most of the other stuff that goes along with a dynasty report is typically done at times when I am home alone in the mornings before work or before anyone else has awakened.

I almost have an unwritten rule for myself never to work on my dynasty when the family is around, not because of embarrassment or anything like that, but just because I don't want this hobby to take much time away from family time.

Agreed man...to win a title of any sort, you have to figure out how to dig deep and win that small handful of inevitable close games you're going to have. This one was our second one in a row, and thankfully we aced it in the end once again.

I feel as though these Tulane matchups every year are going to be incredible, especially here in the early years where I am playing against players I literally recruited. I pray that they're able to keep their roster at the level it is at, because it'll make this Part III project all the more fun if LSU-Tulane eventually evolves into one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football, akin to Florida St.-Miami or Michigan-Ohio St.

Congrats on your kid heading to South Florida. I must say, it was a surreal experience for us, moving a kid out of the house. This was our first child to leave home, and it is a strange feeling not having one of your own in the house and having an empty room. We're down to just our 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son now, so it is like the whole dynamic of the household has changed in a small way, admittedly in both good and bad ways.

        LSU Tigers News Clips

The head coach at Tulane from 2010-2026, Geezy won the six SEC title banners he's seen admiring here hanging from the Superdome rafters before he bolted to LSU in 2027. Unfortunately for him, Geezy's homecoming last fall was ruined via a 49-21 beatdown his Tigers took at the hands of the Wave.

LSU | Geezy doubles-down on prediction of LSU victory
        Mon, 18 Sep 2028 03:19:13 -0700
Carley McCord of WDSU-TV New Orleans reports that LSU head coach D. Geezy told her late Sunday night/Monday morning that he is not going to back down on his proclamation that his team is set to end its 11-game losing streak to Tulane when the Tigers and Green Wave square off this upcoming Saturday night in Baton Rouge. Geezy, in his second year as LSU's head coach, made the bold prediction during his press conference after Saturday's 19-17 win over Georgia, noting simply that "it's time."

"We're not going to end this streak unless we truly believe in ourselves and until we feel like we can go out and take what's ours," said Geezy, who as the head coach at Tulane from 2010-2026 is responsible for 10 of the 11 Tigers losses during the streak that now spans over a decade. "I feel good about what we have going game-plan wise and I feel confident in our matchups and our will.

"We aren't going to back down and I am not going to back out on what I said after the game Saturday. I did not stutter; we will win this football game."

Tulane head coach Joe Roberts, who has been at odds with Geezy ever since a disagreement the two men had last year, had no counter-prediction to Geezy's boastful claim, only saying via text to McCord, "Whatever he has to do to get his team motivated, power to him. We'll see when Saturday gets here who the best team in Louisiana is."

LSU has not beaten Tulane since 2016, when they defeated the eventual national champion Green Wave 31-27 in Baton Rouge.

Heisman | WR Brady, RB Rodgers set to square-off
        Tue, 19 Sep 2028 11:32:19 -0700
Eve Jewell of ESPN's SEC Network reports that Tulane senior WR Grant Brady (93 ovr) and LSU sophomore RB Scottie Rodgers (80 ovr) are two of the leaders in the clubhouse for Heisman honors here in the early going this season, and the two players will go head-to-head in this week's huge SEC tilt between the two rival schools on Saturday night.

Brady, who was the nation's #1 high school wide receiver recruit in 2025 and has been clocked at 4.38 in the 40-yard dash, caught 81 passes for 1,297 yards and accounted for 20 total touchdowns last year, finishing third in the final Heisman vote a season ago, with Texas QB Joe Jones winning the prestigious award. With last year's starting QB Jimmy McBride now moved on to the NFL, Brady is off to a good start with new Green Wave starting sophomore QB Ryan Tyler (90 ovr) at the helm, hauling in 20 receptions for 286 yards and 4 scores from his new signal caller through three games so far this season.

Rodgers, on the other hand, has 345 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns on 53 attempts so far in 2028, however it is his ascent into a dominant pass catcher that has turned heads so far this year. Through four games this season, Rodgers has 23 receptions for 275 yards and 7 receiving touchdowns, catching passes out of the backfield, as well as from the slot, giving him a tremendous opportunity to become LSU head coach D. Geezy's first Heisman winner since RB Reggie Moore, who is currently on the Tigers' coaching staff, did so at Tulane in 2017.

FS D.J. Durbin, QB Eric King, DE Wade Ratliff

        report courtesy Jordan Hebert, LSUSports.net

LSU | 12 players set to visit
        Tue, 19 Sep 2028 15:14:27 -0700
Jordan Hebert of LSUSports.net reports that the LSU Tigers will have a total of 12 prospects visiting their campus this weekend when they face arch rival Tulane, including 4-star Canadian FS D.J. Durbin (5-11, 201 pounds, 4.48 40-time, #8 rated FS prospect), 4-star Louisiana DE Wade Ratliff (6-7, 213 pounds, 4.66 40-time, #22 rated DE prospect), 4-star Texas DT Tyrone Jefferson (6-0, 261 pounds, 5.02 40-time, #21 rated DT prospect), 4-star Texas QB Eric King (6-1, 199 pounds, 4.54 40-time, #14 rated QB prospect), 4-star Mississippi CB Frank Montgomery (5-10, 175 pounds, 4.52 40-time, #12 rated CB prospect), 4-star Texas DE Christian Everett (6-3, 277 pounds, 4.74 40-time, #30 rated DE prospect), and 4-star Florida SS Stephen Barrett (6-1, 188 pounds, 4.68 40-time, #12 rated SS prospect).

According to team sources, Durbin is the #1 rated player on LSU's recruiting board, and with current starting FS Mario Reed set to graduate after this season, the team believes Durbin could potentially start for the Tigers' defense immediately. It is believed that LSU is "neck-and-neck" with Alabama and Boise St. for the Ottawa native's services, according to Rivals.com sources.

Rounding out the team's list of visits this weekend are 3-star Iowa RB Eric Greco (6-0, 198 pounds, 4.38 40-time, #89 rated RB prospect), 3-star Louisiana WR Leonard Scott (5-11, 192 pounds, 4.48 40-time, #17 rated WR prospect), 3-star Louisiana ATH Stan Ostrander (6-3, 211 pounds, 4.54 40-time, #19 rated ATH prospect), 3-star Louisiana SS Logan Landrum (6-2, 184 pounds, 4.66 40-time, #24 rated SS prospect), and 3-star Louisiana RB Marques Wright (6-1, 190 pounds, 4.62 40-time, #20 rated RB prospect).

So I take it that you don't play too many other videogames.

Excited to see what comes of this Tulane matchup. I'm expecting an epic.

Sidenote: have you ever messed with coaching sliders or settings to try to make teams more or less competitive or are you a purely neutral observer in the Geezy universe?

Honestly, no I don't play other games much. I'd say the last "other" video game series I ever really got into was the Grand Theft Auto series, specifically San Andreas, along with IV and V. San Andreas is without question my favorite non-football video game of all-time.

I am actually a very avid retro video game collector however. At some point several years ago, I became obsessed with restoring my old childhood collection, and found a website that sells old games. So now I have a very massive collection of old games (you can pretty much name any old NES/SNES/Sega game, and I almost certainly have it), but it is more so just for me to have rather than to play. This is my setup, and all of the systems are connected to a device that allows me to easily access them via remote control if I ever want to play them:

              Spoiler

Like I said, I don't really use them much, but it is just one of those things that I like to know that it is there if I want it. From time to time, me and my six year old son will play some Sonic the Hedgehog or fire up the NES for some Mario Bros or Mike Tyson's Punchout though. You'd be amazed at how great these old games look on modern TVs:

              Spoiler

As for your other question...I don't mess with the coaching sliders at all, but I have changed a few teams' offensive and defensive playbooks every so often to a playbook more fitting of their playing style of today in real life, since this game is now a good 9 years old and I want to see some more variety with the teams I play against. I also, at the start of every year, go in and edit the depth charts of all of my opponents and most teams I believe are in any sort of national contention, just to make sure they have their best players on the field. Lastly, I like to set up a few good early season matchups for other teams with the schedule editor.

That's a very broad question, but most of it is just googling graphics to use, or if I come across something when browsing twitter or the internet in general, I will save it if I think it could be useful later. For things like the recruiting class charts, that's simply a cropped out screenshot of Microsoft Excel. And of course, for my video game shots, I use an El Gato Capture Card, which to this day I am amazed at how easy it is to use and wish I had been using one much sooner.

In general though, most of what you see here with my reporting style is stuff that I have been using for the past decade-plus; I have just evolved/tweaked/modernized it more and more as time passes.

Game 5, Year 2 Preview (2028 season): #10 Tulane Green Wave at #12 LSU Tigers

RIVALRY GAME: THE BATTLE FOR THE RAG

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                ....................3 1/2....................

2027: Former Tulane head coach D. Geezy helped the Green Wave earn the two national title banners shown here hanging in the rafters, however Wave DE Ricky Evans sacked QB Rob Mason three times that evening and helped show the then-first year LSU head coach just how far away his Tigers were from the type of success he experienced in New Orleans.

Last Meeting: For a whopping 11th straight outing, LSU did not have what it takes to knock off their in-state rival Tulane, as the Tigers offense went scoreless in a 49-21 defeat at the hands of the then-18th ranked Green Wave last year at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Wave defenders sacked LSU QB Rob Mason 7 times, including three takedowns by star DE Ricky Evans, as Mason finished just 19 of 42 for 285 yards with 0 touchdowns and 5 interceptions to go along with a pair of lost fumbles. Despite scoring three touchdowns as a unit, LSU's defense was dominated from start to finish, surrendering 219 yards on the ground to former Wave RB Anthony Brown, as Tulane amassed a 28-7 halftime lead and never looked back.

2026: LSU QB Rob Mason was sacked twice and threw 3 interceptions as the Wave went on to celebrate its 10th consecutive victory over rival LSU.

Last Meeting at Venue: Two seasons ago, LSU had head coach D. Geezy's Tulane squad on the ropes in a close battle but was unable to come up with the big plays they needed in crunch time as the 22nd ranked Tigers fell to the 6th ranked Green Wave 43-38 in 2025 at Tiger Stadium. Led by former Wave QB Jimmy McBride threw for only 176 passing yards, however he finished with 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions while former Wave RB Anthony Brown rushed for 151 yards and two scores as their team continued its recent dominance in this historic rivalry.

2016: Former LSU QB Michael Robertson's 4-yard touchdown pass to former WR Dominic Holmes capped off an 8-play opening second half possession and increased the Tigers' lead to 24-10, and the home team never looked back.

Last Meeting III (Legacy Classic): Twelve years ago, #10 ranked Tulane lost then-true freshman and eventual star QB Jamie Manning to an abdominal injury early in the first quarter and had issues getting its offense going until it was too late, eventually falling to then-#14 LSU 31-27 at Tiger Stadium in 2016. The eventual BCS National Champions that season, then-Green Wave head coach D. Geezy's team faced a 31-10 third quarter deficit and nearly pulled off the miracle comeback, however a late interception thrown by third string QB George Ford with 1:29 remaining sealed the Wave's fate that afternoon. The game represented Tulane's only loss during their historic national title run, and also represents the last time they fell to their in-state rival LSU.

                Head Coach D. Geezy's Take

An unusually candid LSU head coach D. Geezy addressed the media on Thursday ahead of Saturday night's huge showdown versus rival Tulane.

Last year, it was nostalgic watching game film of old LSU-Tulane games, but quite honestly, it is different this year; it is more of a sickening feeling, a feeling of anger for how we played last season, and a feeling of anger in that our program has been pushed to the back-burner in our state and in our conference. It is time to put an end to that. It is time.

Don't get me wrong; I respect the hell out of Tulane and what we built and what Coach Joe Roberts continues to build. They have a quarterback in Ryan Tyler (90 ovr) that was the nation's #1 QB coming out of high school, and his #1 WR Grant Brady (93 ovr) and #2 WR Steve Mosley (90 ovr) were each top two wide receiver prospects when they came out. That trio alone makes their team very dangerous, not to mention their speed in the backfield with Brian Anthony (86 ovr) and Teddy Jenkins (85 ovr).

We got shut out offensively by them last year, and their pressure up front, particuarly from DE Ricky Evans, really got after us and made things difficult for Rob Mason and our guys. Pass protection will be key this week, as will Scottie Rodgers and the running game.

It's funny; in hindsight, I kind of wish we didn't do so great of a job at recruiting our last few years in New Orleans so that I wouldn't have to deal with all this talent they have over there. Is this going to be an easy task for us? Heck no. But we believe in ourselves and believe in each other. We want to be Louisiana's team again, and achieving that goal starts Saturday night. It's going to be a battle, but as I said all week and also to my team after practice again today - write it down, take a picture...it is time; we are going to win this football game, period.

                - LSU head coach D. Geezy

Time to ball and put an end to this Tulane streak...Geaux Tigers!

The inclusion of Twitter is so creative.

I think when I was asking about sliders I really meant more about the playbook. In 07, if I were to take over a team to change their depth charts or schedule, their playbook would switch to something else once I deleted the coach.

I appreciate your retro collection. I've always wanted a setup like that.

This is a big big matchup. Excited to see how it works out and what it means for the season. I didn't realize your lone loss in your championship season was to the Tigers.

This version of the game always sets the playbook back to where it should be after you delete the coach, as long as you do one team at a time, and delete after each team you do.

Yes, that Tigers loss still stings. My QB at the time, Jamie Manning, lost two games in his entire career, and both losses (2016 at LSU and 2017 in the National Title Game to USC) involved him getting injured very early in the game and not returning. Man that was so long ago; sometimes I can't believe that this story is still going on.

Game 5, Year 2 (2028 season): #10 Tulane Green Wave at #12 LSU Tigers

RIVALRY GAME: THE BATTLE FOR THE RAG

                              #10 13 -- 2-2 (1-1)
                              #12 20 -- 5-0 (2-0)

LSU senior QB Rob Mason, who came into the game with an 0-3 record versus arch-rival Tulane, said he turned to the Green Wave sideline to "Let them know whose house they were in" following a first quarter touchdown pass that gave his team an early 7-0 lead.

On what was an absolutely electric night at Death Valley, #12 LSU gets major monkey off their back, outlasts rival #10 Tulane for a triumphant 20-13 victory | Team comes up with pivotal plays in all three phases as Tigers' big win puts an end to 11-game losing streak to the Green Wave | Playmaking QB Rob Mason and RB Scottie Rodgers come up with key plays early and late to help head coach D. Geezy defeat his old program | LSU heads into its bye week sky-high, but trip to The Swamp to face #5 Florida looms as Tigers' SEC title dreams start to become a realistic possibility

Baton Rouge, LA -- It was a night LSU fans will remember for a long time. Perhaps energized by a tone of confidence set all week by their head coach and by their starting quarterback, and/or perhaps just flat-out tired of losing to their in-state rivals, the 12th ranked Tigers used whatever synergy they needed in order to end 11 years of misery, out-playing #10 Tulane for a 20-13 victory Saturday night in Baton Rouge and defeating the Green Wave for the first time since 2016. LSU second year head coach D. Geezy, coaching against the program he spent 17 years at building from the ground up, called it one of the most satisfying victories he has ever been apart of, as his team used some early success to build up a lead before holding off a late Wave rally to pick up the win and end an 11-game losing streak versus Tulane that he was ironically mostly responsible for. The win helped the Tigers improve their record to 5-0 for the first time since 2009, a season that pre-dates Geezy's head coaching career, which began all the way back in 2010 at Tulane before he joined the Tigers in 2027.

Tulane took the game's opening possession deep into LSU territory, but true freshman MLB J.J. Brooks' leaping interception put a halt to the drive and set the stage for what was a masterful defensive performance by the Tigers.

LSU sophomore MLB J.J. Brooks' redzone interception that ended the Green Wave's game-opening offensive series, a series aided by a 43-yard run by speedy RB Brian Anthony, set the tone for a terrific night for the Tigers' defense. Though Anthony went on to finish with 133 rushing yards on 22 carries, LSU pretty much put the kibosh on the fifth year senior's evening after giving up 115 yards on 14 carries in the first half.

Following Brooks' forced turnover, Tigers senior QB Rob Mason led a 7-play 91-yard drive which concluded with a 43-yard touchdown pass to sophomore WR Brady Carter Jr., giving their team a 7-0 advantage early. Mason, who on Thursday guaranteed a Tigers victory, finished the game 19 of 27 for 287 yards.

On the ensuing kickoff, lightning struck twice in favor of LSU, as true freshman cornerback and special teams ace Stevie Higgins stripped Green Wave star WR/KR Grant Brady of the football and junior CB Cedric Hutchinson recovered, giving the Tigers the football deep in Tulane territory. LSU would cash in the turnover for a 33-yard field goal by PK Ross Bryant, extending its lead to 10-0.

Early in the second quarter, Mason would make his only big mistake of the game, but it wasn't entirely his fault, as he was hit by DE Ricky Evans as he released a pass attempt to a wide open Carter Jr. on a deep crossing pattern. The ball would subsequently flutter into the awaiting hands of Wave senior OLB Joshua Freeman as a result, giving Tulane the ball near midfield. However, just a couple of plays following the interception, the Tigers defense came up with yet another big play, as FS Mario Reed successfully stripped Anthony of the football and freshman OLB Derek Kerr recovered, thwarting another Wave possession that penetrated into LSU territory.

"We were up just 10-3 at that stage of the game, so thankfully the defense stepped up big again with their backs against the wall, helping to keep the momentum on our side," said Geezy. "If they hadn't, the entire tide of the game could have unfolded differently."

After the fumble recovery, the Tigers in-turn would go on a 10-play 58-yard drive. The possession concluded with a 4th and 1 gamble from the Tulane 9-yard line, a gamble that paid off with 9-yard touchdown run by RB Scottie Rodgers via an option pitch from Mason, who was nearly taken down for a loss on the play by DT Byron Henderson. Rodgers, a Top 5 Heisman contender according to ESPN's latest Heisman Watch List, ended the day with just 55 yards on the ground on 14 carries, but his score increased the Tigers' lead to 17-3.

Redshirt sophomore QB Ryan Tyler, the former #1 high school prospect in the nation that was recruited by D. Geezy while he was coaching at Tulane, had trouble finding passing lanes before eventually exiting the game with a knee injury following a big hit by Brooks on a pass attempt.
"We literally had just installed that play this week at practice and thankfully Scottie made a great spin move against 55 (Freeman) to avoid the turnover and obviously score," said LSU offensive coordinator Bryce Allen, who actually played quarterback for Geezy and the Green Wave from 2021-2024, joining linebackers coach Mark Richards, special teams coach Joel Ryan, and coaching intern Reggie Moore as former Tulane players on Geezy's staff.

A season-long 44-yard field goal by Bryant on the final play of the first half increased LSU's lead to 20-3 going into the break. Bryant finished the game 2 of 3 on field goals Saturday night, and a bad 38-yard miss early in a scoreless third quarter for both teams would loom large later and help keep the game in doubt.

Following an injury to starting redshirt sophomore QB Ryan Tyler, a former prized recruiting signing by Geezy while he was at Tulane, the Wave would get a spark off the bench. Replacing the former #1 high school quarterback prospect and Louisiana native, second string QB Justin McFarland nearly engineered a comeback for the ages. Immediately after being inserted into the game, McFarland would help help put together a 10-play 70-yard drive which included a 31-yard pass completion to 6-5 248 pound WR Scottie Johnson on a 4th and 6 play from their own 49-yard line. A few plays later, Anthony's 4-yard touchdown run on a toss play ended the drive, making the score 20-10 and putting the Wave right back in the game with 7:01 remaining. McFarland finished the contest 4 of 7 for 71 yards, out-playing his team's starter in less than a quarter of action, as the former big time recruit Tyler finished the evening just 6 of 14 for 66 yards versus the Tigers' suddenly ferocious defense.

"I think Tyler may have been a bit rattled by the atmosphere early on and both (defensive backs coach) Steve Ellis and I were a little leery about them inserting a fifth year senior into the game at that moment," said LSU defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, who was actually Tulane's defensive coordinator under Geezy from 2011-2019, as was Ellis, from 2020-2023. "McFarland immediately brought a poise to the game that you'd expect out of any fifth year senior. Geezy warned us prior to the game that McFarland is a good, underrated player, and he made several clutch plays today that proved that."

Following Tulane's lone touchdown of the game, and after forcing a quick LSU three and out and getting the ball back, the Green Wave would make it a one possession game when PK Blake Dunn drilled a 49-yard field goal that made the score 20-13 with 3:07 remaining. Unfortunately for Green Wave head coach Joe Roberts, another former Wave player under Geezy, a decision to not kick an onside kick proved costly.

A 9-play clock-draining drive by LSU, which included a 7-yard run by Rodgers on a 3rd and 2, along with a 28-yard game-clinching reception by him on a 3rd and 12, sealed the deal for the Tigers. To go along with his aforementioned, subpar 55 yards on the ground, Rodgers contributed greatly in the passing games, hauling in 7 receptions for 87 yards as a receiver both out of the backfield and in the slot, and his last reception clinched the win for his team. Following the big play, both the soldout crowd and LSU sideline erupted, having knocked off their bitter rivals for the first time since 2016.

After having a career-game a week ago, QB Rob Mason had trouble finding success versus Georgia's ferocious 3-4 defense, even though he did finish with 290 yards through the air.

"This one was very satisfying on a lot of different levels, that much is obvious," said Geezy, who admitted he called a timeout with 1:37 remaining so that the Tigers band could play "Neck," a song he promised back when he was hired that LSU fans would hear played should he successfully end the Green Wave's winning streak in the Battle for the Rag series.

"We really needed to get over this hump; I cannot tell you enough how big this was for our team. We know we have a lot still in front of us and that ultimately this was just one game, but there is no question that this was certainly a special evening myself personally and for our program, and one we won't soon forget."

LSU (5-0) will head into its bye week riding sky-high, however a trip to Gainsville to face current #5 Florida awaits them in two weeks. The Gators (4-0) will be looking to avenge last year's huge 29-28 upset loss to the Tigers in Baton Rouge, a game which ended with a 27-yard field goal by Bryant as time expired to knock off a then-7th ranked Florida squad.

"I was doing a little bit of research, and this is our first time being 5-0 since 2009, but what is noteworthy is that team ended up losing to Florida in game six. Obviously with a bye week coming up, we are going to enjoy this win for a day or two, but if we don't want this fun undefeated ride to end versus the Gators like it did almost 20 years ago, then we need to quickly turn the page and begin focusing on what is going to be a hell of a challenge for us at the Swamp in a couple of weeks; because to tell you the truth, on paper, they may be the most talented team we face this year.

"As I'll continue to preach, these games are just going to get bigger and bigger and more and more difficult from here on out the more we keep winning, so we need to stay hungry."

Notes: LSU head coach D. Geezy indicated in his postgame press conference that WR Brady Carter Jr. sustained a rib injury after being tackled on a second quarter punt return, and was unable to return. Geezy also indicated that Carter Jr. will have an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury...Before the game, Geezy, along with LSU coaches Bryce Allen, Reggie Moore, Mark Richards, Joel Ryan, as well as with Tulane head coach Joe Roberts and the Wave's defensive coordinator Cam DeJean, all posed together for a photo. Each of those coaches were once former players under Geezy while at Tulane.

LSU held a 20-3 lead after three quarters, but Tulane would not let their 11-game winning streak versus their bitter arch rivals go down without a fight.

Decked out in what head coach D. Geezy termed LSU's "Louisiana's Finest" uniform combo, QB Rob Mason rallied the troops before Saturday evening's epic matchup with rival Tulane. The unique jerseys feature pelicans on both shoulders, which is the state bird of Louisiana.

After his team's defense came away with a turnover to thwart Tulane's game-opening possession, sophomore WR Brady Carter Jr. hauled in a 43-yard touchdown pass from Mason as the Tigers drew first blood in the first quarter.

Seen here laying the stiff arm to freshman LB Derek Kerr, Green Wave senior RB Brian Anthony was tough to bring down and finished with 133 rushing yards, however he'd eventually get stripped of the football by FS Mario Reed on this carry and Kerr recovered, giving their team the ball back already up 10-3.

Pic 1 of 3: With their team up 10-3 and facing a 4th and 1 deep in Tulane territory, Geezy elected to go for it and Mason barley got off this option pitch to RB Scottie Rodgers.

Pic 2 of 3: Tulane star LB Joshua Freeman perfectly diagnosed the option play and was in Rodgers' face with a chance to bring him down behind the line of scrimmage, however Rodgers used a spin move to get past him.

Pic 3 of 3: After shaking Freeman out of his shoes with the spin, Rodgers had nothing but green grass in front of him and eventually dove into the end zone for a sensational 9-yard touchdown that increased the Tigers' lead to 17-3 with just over two minutes remaining in the half.

For a second consecutive season, the Green Wave defense sacked Mason 5 times, including a pair by senior DT Brandon Callahan.

Pic 1 of 2: LSU standout nickel CB Jerome Harmon laid the smackdown on Tulane star WR Grant Brady in the third quarter, one of 4 receptions for 44 yards on the evening by Brady.

Pic 2 of 2: Harmon and Brady had words following the big hit, and they likely weren't sharing their favorite gumbo recipes.

Heisman contending RB Scottie Rodgers did not have a spectacular day on the ground, finishing with just 55 yards on 14 carries, but he did haul in 7 receptions for 87 yards, including a big catch late.

Very early in the fourth quarter, Tulane QB Ryan Tyler was hit on a blitz by Tigers sophomore MLB J.J. Brooks and had to leave the game with a knee injury.

Green Wave backup signal caller Justin McFarland, a redshirt senior and former 3-star recruit by Geezy when he was in New Orleans, engineered a pair of scoring drives that made the score 20-13 and gave Tulane a chance late.

Facing a 3rd and 12 with just over two minutes remaining and Tulane out of timeouts, Rodgers' 28-yard reception on 3rd and 12 clinched the ball game, and the celebration at Tiger Stadium was on.

It appeared some LSU fans may have been in a state of disbelief after witnessing their team finally put an end to its 11-game losing streak versus arch-rival Tulane.

After over a decade of misery in the Battle for the Rag rivalry game series, Mason and the Tigers celebrated on the field as if they just won a championship.

Seen here walking back to the locker room to celebrate, LSU senior stud OT Erik Meyer proclaimed this to be the best moment of his life, but also stated that there are "still more good times to come" for the resurgent Tigers.
