BILLS Defense smothers TEXANS 35-10 in Houston!

    RECAP

Houston, TX- Todays Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills was Rookie Josh Allen. The Bills defense made life miserable for Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Texans. Josh Allen picked apart the Texans Defense.

Buffalo is now 2-2. Houston is also 2-2.

But what the story is today was how suffocating Buffalo's Defense was led by Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz.

"Loved the game plan going in. Our guys did a masterful job. Great performance by everyone. If we keep our defense like that we can go far this Season." Bills Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz stated.

The Bills(2-2) defense just completely suffocated Houstons(2-2) Offense. Houston only had 6 First down conversions all game long. Houston finished the day with just 289 yards total.

Texans Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was pedestrian. He was 17/24 for 214 yards a TD and a pick.

He struggled to get the Offense moving all game long. He was also sacked 4 times.

"We had a rough time moving the ball today. Tip your hat to Buffalo they had a great plan today and really made it difficult for us." Texans Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick stated.

Running Back Arian Foster also struggled vs the Bills front 7. He finished the day with 46 yards off 9 carries.

"We we're simply outplayed in all aspects of the game. Buffalo deserves the win." Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien stated.

The Bills(2-2) simply made life miserable for Houston(2-2) inside NRG Stadium. It was so bad that even the fans we're booing when Houston was being held to three and outs constantly.

"The way we played today, can't blame the fans for letting their frustrations be known. We need to be much better next week and moving forward." O' Brien stated.

Bills Rookie Quarterback Josh Allen getting his first start today was phenomenal. Allen finished the day with 3 Touchdowns, 1 pick and 359 yards.

"I loved the way he played today. We're playing so many QB's this year that we need to assess all of them for our future." Bills Head Coach Doug Marrone stated.

Buffalo also had a good day on the ground. Running Back CJ Spiller picked up 87 yards off 19 carries before leaving in the 4th with broken ribs.

Backup Fred Jackson went 18 carries for 68 yards and a TD.

"Sucks to see guys get hurt. Have to keep the next man up mentality." Marrone stated.

Spiller will miss the next couple weeks.

"I trust the guys, I trust the process, I trust myself to make the plays." Quarterback Josh Allen stated. "I know next week I might not play but I trust the decision of the Staff for our rebuild future."

Why the Buffalo Bills should make Josh Allen the starting Quarterback moving forward...

      Written by: Rick Tuhn

      Published: September 28, 2014.

BUFFALO- It's no secret that when Head Coach Doug Marrone took the reigns in Buffalo last year that the team was in rebuild mode. With the change in Ownership back in March with the passing of Ralph Wilson, Marrone was kept as Head Coach of Buffalo. The rebuild is still in place and Marrone has the full support of new Ownership. In 2013, the Bills took Quarterback EJ Manuel in hopes of solving their QB issue. It didn't work out.
Entering Training Camp, the Bills brought in a lot of Quarterbacks for a huge battle in hopes of solidifying the most important position on the field. Buffalo is playing "Musical Quarterbacks" this year in a quest to find the QB of the future.

"We're rebuilding. With the new Ownership after Ralph passed we the Staff had a good long meeting to set a plan for 2014. We knew we needed to find a QB of the future." Marrone stated.

The Bills have the most active Quarterbacks on the roster in the NFL. The QB's Buffalo have and are constantly seeing playing time are EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, Dennis Dixon, Jeff Tuel, and Rookie Josh Allen.

"We have a foundation in place. We're not expecting to make a playoff run this year. We're expecting to have a solid foundation for our rebuild. I love our Staff, I love the players, I love the fans. This year is about finding the QB to lead this team for a Playoff run next year." Bills Owner Terrance Spegula stated.

The Bills sit at 2-2 after defeating the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium earlier today 35-10. In the game it was Josh Allen's first Career start and his turn on the QB Carousel.

Allen was phenomenal picking apart the Texans 9th ranked Defense with 359 yards and 3 Touchdowns.

"I would love to play every game if I could. But I know with the new Ownership and plans we're all building a foundation. I have faith that i'll get my turn again." Quarterback Josh Allen stated.

Let it be known that Allen's performance was the best performance of any Bills Quarterback this year.

"Everybody plays. Everybody has good games and bad games. That's how football works. Josh had a very good game. We're starting whoever we feel can give us the best chance to win in the week of practice." Marrone said.

TITANS get first Win of 2014. Pound COLTS 38-21 in INDY!

          RECAP

Indianapolis, IN- There's the saying of bad news and worse news. For the Indianapolis Colts today it's both. The bad news is that Indy was upset by their Division rival the Tennessee Titans.

          Then the worst news.

Quarterback Andrew Luck broke his collarbone in the 4th Quarter and will miss 8 games.

The Titans(1-3) completely made life miserable for the Colts(1-3) who have slumped out of the gates this year with the worst defense in the NFL. Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck struggled bad today vs the Titans.

Luck finished the day 10/23 for 160 yards 2 TD's and 3 INTs. Awful.

The Titans defense smothered Indy so bad that Luck went into the half with 1/8 and 3 yards passing.

"Bad day for sure. I didn't play very well. Sucks that I'm hurt now too." Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck stated.

In the 4th Quarter Andrew Luck suffered a broken collarbone and veteran Matt Hasselbeck stepped in for some action.

Indianapolis(1-3) must now move forward for 2 months without their signal caller.

"It's a blow to lose a guy like Andrew. We're all upset that he got hurt like that." Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano stated.

"I been in this league a long time and it's never a good thing when guys go down. I'm ready to play for this team." Backup Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck stated.

The Colts must figure out their defensive issues moving forward. The Titans(1-3) looked comfortable out there.

Tennessee had no problem converting 3rd downs. Indy's Defense never got off the field.

Titans Quarterback Jake Locker had 319 yards and 2 Touchdowns.

RAVENS crush PANTHERS in Baltimore 59-0!

                RECAP

Baltimore, MD- Quarterback Cam Newton stood at the podium with his head hung in shame. His Panthers(1-3) have lost 3 straight and they we're absolutely crushed today at M&T Bank Stadium by the Baltimore Ravens(2-2). To make matters worse, Cam Newton only played half the game as Head Coach Ron Rivera benched him in favor of backup Derek Anderson.

The QB change did no favors.

Carolina struggled badly to do anything against the Ravens Defense who was absolutely smothering.

Newton was 3/24 for 49 yards 0 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions. He had a rating of 4.8 before being pulled.

"It was awful. I know I can play better to help this team win. It's an awful feeling being in a hole right now but that's where we are and now it's going to be a climb to get out." Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton stated.

It's no secret to Panthers fans that Cam Newton is having a rough year. He now has 2 Touchdowns and 8 picks this year.

Derek Anderson stepped in in the second half with Baltimore up 30-0 but failed to move the ball.

Anderson was 4/14 for 88 yards and a Interception.

Baltimore's Defense was just that good. Every pass was either overthrown, picked off, or tipped. Some dropped.

"We we're simply outcoached. Outplayed, outcoached, outdone by Baltimore. " Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera stated.

The Running Game also did no favors for Carolina. Running Back Deangelo Williams only managed 5 yards off 7 carries. Newton had 5 yards off 2 carries.

Carolina(1-3) dropped the run game quickly after.

"When you can't run the football you're forced to pass. When you pass you become a one dimensional team." Rivera stated.

The run game on the other hand for Baltimore was working just fine. Running Back Bernard Pierce racked up 171 yards off 25 carries.

Backup Quarterback Tyrod Taylor had possibly his best game of his Career throwing for 344 yards and 4 Touchdowns with a pick. He was 29/36. Rating of 131.9

"I was very pleased with how this team handled business today. Great Offense and Defense." Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh stated.

                Great Defense is an understatement.

Carolina was held to just 116 yards offensively. Baltimore was 496.

Carolina only managed 6 first downs all game long.

Baltimore also dominated the game clock. (30:11 to 13:49).

Carolina was held to constant 3 and outs that Brad Nortman punted 7 times for over 425 yards.

"When you look at the stat sheet from the game it's embarrassing. We we're completely crushed." Rivera stated.

Tyrod Taylor was also all smiles today.

"We had a very great game today. I feel like when we play like that we can have a good year." Taylor said.

Carolina's Defense was completely overused today. They struggled to get any stops and couldn't stop a nosebleed.

Carolina have now lost 3 straight.

Ed Reed makes his presence known with Game sealing Pick as JETS pound LIONS 40-16!

                          RECAP

East Rutherford, NJ- Coming off 2 straight losses to NFC North teams, Packers/Bears, the New York Jets(2-2) prepared to take on their third straight NFC North opponent.

                          The Detroit Lions(2-2).

Learning from their past 2 losses, the Jets acquired a bit of help leading up to today's matchup.

                          Veteran Safety Ed Reed.

The signing proved to be very successful.

"I coached him in Baltimore before I took this job. Watching him over the years and what he's been doing and how he made a name for himself has been very special." Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan stated.

The Jets signed Ed Reed to a 1 year deal hours before the team hosted the Lions. He made his presence known and Matthew Stafford found that out the hard way.

"He's always been a special player." Stafford said.

Trailing 40-16 in the final moments Stafford heaved a prayer that was picked off by Ed Reed near the goal line.

"I just want to play football." Jets Safety Reed stated. "I'm grateful to be back with Rex (Ryan). I love the man. Hopefully this gives us some momentum to keep rolling throughout the year."

Jets Rookie QB John David Booty had the best day of his career so far. He finished the day with 271 yards and 4 Touchdowns.

"I'm just trying to play my heart out for this team. I never really had a chance here in the NFL until Ryan (Rex) came calling. I owe him everything." Jets QB Booty stated.

Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford struggled against the Jets Defense as he finished the day with 173 yards and a Touchdown.

"Just a bad performance. Bad games happen. Learn from it and get ready for the next one." Stafford stated.

The Lions are under a new system with New Head Coach Jim Caldwell.

"Had a good game plan going in I thought but that went out the window." Caldwell said. "Need to be more prepared for next week."

The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a sluggish start this year with Ben Roethlisberger throwing just 5 TD's to 5 picks in the first 3 games. Because of this, the Steelers find themselves in the middle of the pack both Offensively and Defensively. A matchup Sunday with the Bucs could help turn the team around however Tampa Bay is rocking the 2nd best Offense in the league entering the game. Josh McCown and Lovie Smith have really clicked and look to turn the team around. However they need to step up their defense which is ranked 25th in the league.

STEELERS crumble, Fall to BUCCANEERS 27-24!

                              RECAP

Pittsburgh, PA- Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a blank stare on his face. He looked around the room and many players we're disappointed after the Steelers(2-2) loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers(3-1).

"It's an ugly feeling when you lose. We honestly should of won this game." Roethlisberger stated.

The Steelers Quarterback had another bad performance in which he was 18/48 for 228 yards 2 TD's and 2 picks.

The Steelers Quarterback's accuracy was off bad today. Even in 56 degrees, Roethlisberger and his receivers couldn't get on the same page. The result? Lots of overthrown passes and drops.

"It was a mess. It honestly was. No communication at all on the Offense. Our guys running wrong routes and everything is off. Ben (Roethlisberger) overthrowing and underthrowing. Just a mess." Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin stated.

Frustration was obvious on the Steelers sideline throughout the game where Ben was seen chatting constantly with his core.

"We had a bad game. Everybody was off. We're all frustrated." Steelers Wideout Antonio Brown stated.

He had 8 catches for 105 yards but failed to find the end zone. Roethlisberger's 2 TD's went to a WR Pittsburgh signed in the Offseason, #86 Chad Hall.

"I'm here to help this team win. I know everybody is frustrated right now and every right to be. We didn't play very well as a unit today." Hall stated.

He had 7 catches for 74 yards and 2 TD's.

The Steelers struggled to move the ball consistently thanks to a lot of miscommunication on Offense. Running Back Le'Veon Bell had a good day however.

He had 24 carries for 118 yards and 0 TDs. Blount had the only rushing TD today.

The Buccaneers(3-1) have no won 3 straight with Quarterback Josh McCown and Head Coach Lovie Smith really firing on all cylinders.

"Great performance I thought today. Played a really good football team over there and we came out ready to play." Buccaneers Head Coach Lovie Smith stated.

Tampa Bay picked off Roethlisberger twice today really putting pressure on Pittsburgh.

"Had a great game today and moved the football pretty well I thought. I threw a pick there later on but luckily our Defense was able to save points off the board." Quarterback McCown stated.

                              McCown was 26/35 for 242 yards 2 TD's and a pick.

Running Back Doug Martin had 21 carries for 121 yards and a TD.

"I think when our Offense gets going like that and our defense can step up big we're going to be a good Football team this year." Buccaneers Head Coach Lovie Smith stated.

It appears the reuniting of Smith and McCown has done wonders for Tampa Bay which has now won 3 straight after a 58-31 loss to the Panthers on Opening day.

With the loss today, the Steelers(2-2) must get back on the same page moving forward to capture the North. Still lots of Football left as October is around the corner.

Maybe Ben Roethlisberger will be throwing people under the bus again.
