VIKINGS shine on Thursday Night Football off Cassel's 3 Touchdowns... Beat RAMS 24-16...
RECAP
St. Louis, MO- The Minnesota Vikings(4-4) rebounded from last week's loss to the Chicago Bears with a 24-16 victory over the winless St. Louis Rams(0-8) on Thursday Night.
Vikings Quarterback Matt Cassel had 232 yards, 3 Touchdowns, and a pick with a Rating of 100.4 as Minnesota handed St. Louis their 8th straight loss.
"Losing Two Quarterbacks then having a Rookie out there has been rough for us. Believe me we're trying to win and not go 0-16. We don't want that honor. We still have half the Season left but man it's hard to get some Wins." Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher stated.
Quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Matt Simms are on the shelf for St. Louis as Rookie Jared Goff has been behind Center for the winless Rams.
"Every week is a new challenge. A new Team to face. I'm happy to be here in St. Louis as we try to get to work and find us our first win." Goff stated.
Goff had just 105 yards and a Touchdown as he continues to get his feet wet in the NFL.
Despite forcing 2 Turnovers, (A Peterson Fumble, and a Cassel Interception) the Rams(0-8) struggled on Offense with Goff under center.
St. Louis was held to Field Goals after taking a 7-0 lead in the First Quarter when Goff found Chris Givens in the Endzone.
Adrian Peterson rushed for 142 yards while Rams RB Zac Stacy had 93 yards.
Neither crossed the Goal Line.
The Vikings(4-4) Touchdowns came from Johnny Ford and TE Kyle Rudolph who had 2.
"Rebounded with a Win and we needed that to give us some confidence as we head into the Second half." Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer stated.
Cassel's Pick was from 2nd Year LB Alex Hull. The Rams kicked a Field Goal that made it 24-16 in favor of Minnesota.
"Intercepted the Ball and we only get 3. That can't happen." Fisher added. "When you force Turnovers, you have to put up points. We didn't do that."
