Tony Romo exclaimed “I’m going to Disneyworld!” after he won the SuperBowl MVP for the 2011 season.

Jerry Jones went on a media blitz, shouting from the rooftops about ‘his Cowboys’ for any and all that would listen...or not as he never cared. The team visited the White House and were congratulated by Barack Obama on their victory.

When asked, Jones told the reporters “We will be back next year, I’m confident about that.”

General Manager Schneider met with the media a few days following the SuperBowl. General Manager Schneider had his to say.

“I will be going over the state of the Seahawks organization from head coach on down. We will make decisions on staff to put ourselves in a better position next year. Our goal remains the same as it is every year, win the SuperBowl and be champions. I firmly believe Coach Carroll can get us there”

Two weeks into the preseason, General Manager Schneider had decided the Seahawks needed a change of direction in key coaching roles. He didn’t renew the contract of Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley, citing “too many big plays were surrendered during he regular season and postseason to warrant a renewal.”

They targeted a few individuals. Romeo Crennel didn’t want to become a DC again, and would only be accepting offers for head coaching positions. He next man on their shortlist was the consummate professional of Dick LeBeau. He too only wished a head coaching job. They decided on their new DC as Jim Sanders, who had spent 2000-2006 as the Eagles defensive coordinator.

He was highly touted and as such received a contact for $1.29 mil over 3 years.

“He impressed me with his foot all knowledge and will help shore up our defensive weaknesses we’ve had this year”, Schneider said in a statement yesterday.

Along with shaking up the staff, he also fired their Special Teams coach and hired Frank Underwood who had spent previous years in the Baltimore and Kansas City organizations. His contract is worth $310K over 3 years.

“I wish the former coaches all of the best, but the bottom line is to win a SuperBowl and I feel these changes will help get us there.” Schneider told the media.

The training staff was revamped as well. Elite Health Company was brought on board to assist in staf and players to be and stay healthy. As the saying goes ‘the best ability is availability’.

List of notable players to retire:

Bret Favre—Minnesota Vikings—21 years (holds multiple records)
Hines Ward—Pittsburgh Steelers—13 years (fearsome wise receiver and blocker)
Brain Dawkins—Denver Broncos—15 years (“Ronnie Lott” mold player)
Donald Driver—Green Bay Packers—12 years (consummate professional)
Tory Holt—St. Louis Rams—12 years (part of “Greatest Show on Turf”)
Chad Pennington—New York Jets—11 years (great comeback story)

            —————

Two players from the Seahawks called it a career after the season; Travis Kirschke and Chris Draft.

General Manager Schneider is an intelligent and bright man, who knows how to build winning teams as he cane from an Green Bay organization that was constantly in the hunt for the championship. He nearly had a heart attack when he saw the ‘cost’ of what Pete Carrol had done. Due to his wild idea, the organization took too many ‘cap hits, that they now owed almost $7 million in penalties and had no money to spend on improving the team.

Schneider brought Carroll into the board room and had a lengthy talk that no one knows what it’s about to this day. One can only presume it was a ‘shortening of the leash’.
