      Week 10 Recap

Stanford Falls From Ranks of Unbeaten with Loss to Troy

Troy - The Troy defense picked off Stanford QB Elijah Brown three times, as they pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season by taking down the previously undefeated Cardinal 34-28 on Saturday. The loss means that 9-0 Boise State out of the PAC-12 is the only undefeated team left in college football, and we will have to wait and see how much damage this result will do to Stanford's standing in the college football playoff rankings: Here's how the rest of the Top 25 fared this week:

B1G Ten Claims Top Two Teams in This Week's Rankings

The B1G Ten reigns supreme this week as their top two teams also take up the top two spots in this weeks College Football Playoff rankings. Washington and Oregon seem to be on a collision course for the B1G Ten title game as the teams out west have seemingly taken over the conference. Undefeated Boise State moved up to #5 this week as they look to secure one of the four bye's in this year's tournament. Here's a look at the rankings for this week:

            Week 12 vs. Penn State

Seattle - The Huskies will wrap up regular season play, and get ready for the post season this week as they take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. It's been a disappointing season in Happy Valley, which has put head coach James Franklin firmly on the hot seat with a fan base, and program that expected to be competing for championships this year. An upset over the Huskies could go a long way in showing administrators that Franklin is still the man for the job. While a fifth loss on the season might be the nail in the coffin for his time at Penn State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM from Husky Stadium.

The 'Big Game' Gets Extra Juice with Conference Title Hopes on the Line

Berkley - It's one of college football's longest, and storied rivalries that has faded away in recent years due to the strength of the two programs, but the energy has been injected once again into "The Big Game" as Stanford, and Cal both sit in the top ten, and will play for the right to represent the ACC in their conference championship, and likely the college football playoff as the Cardinal, and Golden Bears will do battle on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM from California Memorial Stadium, and College Gameday will be on site covering it all. Here's where the rest of the Top 25 will be facing off in a pivotal Week 12 slate:

Bye Week Hurts UW in Rankings as Clemson Claims Top Spot

A week off, coupled with an impressive showing from the Clemson Tigers was enough to bump Washington out of the number one spot in this week's college football rankings. However more curious was the committe's decision to have Oregon with two losses, one of which being to the Huskies jump ahead as well. Of course that ranking will become moot in a couple weeks as the Huskies, and Ducks appear on a collision course for the B1G Ten title game that will solve any ranking disputes. Here's a look at the commitee's rankings heading into week 12:

Huskies Punch Ticket to B1G Ten Championship with 35-17 Win

Adam Mohammed flexes after scoring his second touchdown of the game.

Seattle - Adam Mohammed rushed for two touchdowns, and the Huskies overcame some first half mistakes from Demond Williams Jr. to pull away in the second half and defeat Penn State 35-17 on Saturday. The win assures the Huskies of a spot in the B1G Ten championship game in two weeks, and now they get to sit back, and relax while they await next weeks results for who their opponent will be at Lucas Oil Stadium. It will come down to either Oregon or Rutgers, and was made more interesting this week with Oregon's stunning loss at home to Nebraska.

                Week 12 Recap

Stanford Heads to ACC Championship with Win over Cal

Berkley - Elijah Brown threw for 300 yards, and two touchdowns as the Cardinal held off a furious comeback attempt by the Golden Bears to secure a 31-29 win, and a spot in the ACC Championship game for the second straight season. The win also probably secures Stanford a second consecutive trip to the college football playoff where they'll look to advance further than last season's showing. Here's a look at the top 25 results for this week:

Dallas - The only ranked vs. ranked matchups this week come from the ACC, and this one has a lot at stake as Cal and SMU will face-off to see if one of them can emerge as a third team for the conference in the College Football Playoff. Cal is coming off a disappointing loss to Stanford last week, but their playoff hopes are not completely out the window, and a win over SMU will make a strong case for the Golden Bears to make the 12 team field. Meanwhile SMU is on a roll winning five out of six in a push to sneak into the playoff mix, and a win over a ranked Cal team may be enough for the committee to include them in the tournament. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM from Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Here's where the rest of the Top 25 will be in action in the final week of play in the regular season:

Stanford checks in slightly behind them at #3 as the ACC has proven their strength this year with five teams currently in the committee's playoff rankings. Holstien Has Inside Track on Heisman

Pitt QB Eli Holstein has been dominant on the ground, and through the air this season, and he currently leads the charge on taking home this year's Heisman trophy award. There is one more week of games, and conference championships for players to make their case in one of the closer races we've seen in recent memory. Here's how we currently rank the candidates:

                      Conference Championships Preview

Huskies and Ducks Square Off for B1G Ten Supremacy

Indianapolis - The last time the Huskies, and Ducks faced off for a conference crown it was in Las Vegas, for the Pac-12 Title. This time Indianapolis will be the neutral site as two teams from the Pacific Northwest make the trek to the Midwest put some West Coast flavor on the B1G Ten Championship. Oregon is trying to repeat as conference champs, and steal an auto-bid from the Huskies, who most assuredly will have a spot regardless of the outcome. Meanwhile Oregon is somewhat on the bubble currently at #9 in the CFP rankings, and an ugly loss may make the B1G Ten unfathomably a one bid conference this year. The stakes will be high as the game kicks off at 8:00 PM from Lucas Oil Stadium. Here's a look at that matchup, and the rest of the conference championship games this weekend:

GL against Oregon. Their offense can be super explosive, but I feel like you've got the the "D" that can make a difference and worst case an offense that can keep up

Huskies Secure First B1G Ten Championship with Win Over Ducks

Siaki Nye tackles Ben Clapp in his own endzone for a safety late in the game.

Indianapolis - The Ducks, and Huskies treated us to another classic conference championship, this time in the B1G Ten, and once again it was the Huskies who were able to take down their rivals with a wild 31-22 win over Oregon. The teams traded leads throughout much of the game, but the turning point came in the third quarter. Washington got the ball to start the half, but quickly went three, and out. That led to Dante Moore connecting with Kyler Kasper for the second time of the day for a long 76 yard touchdown that gave Oregon the lead, and seemingly all of the momentum. That would change quickly however as Devon Jackson came off the edge to block Grant Meadors extra point attempt, and Justin Highsmith scooped it up, and returned it all the way back for the rarely seen defensive two point conversion, and instead of a 20-17 lead for the Ducks, the game was tied at 19-19. The teams traded field goals before the Huskies drove the field in the fourth down to the goal line. Coach Jedd Fisch went with his gut on fourth down once again, and once again the Huskies could not convert giving the ball back to Oregon deep in their own end. However the Huskies stepped up once again, as freshman Siaki Nye, who was the Huskies prized recruit in the off-season busted through the line, and stopped Ben Clapp in the endzone giving the Huskies a safety, and the ball. Demond Williams then led the Huskies down the field again, and this time Washington capped it off with a score to give them a 31-22 lead, and the B1G Ten crown. The Huskies will now get the automatic bye into the College Football playoff, and will wait, and see who they will be matched up with, and where, while the Ducks will have to wait on the playoff committee's decision on if they will get an invite to the tournament.

Florida Misses Out on Playoff as Texas Tech Spoils Party with Big XII Title Win

Florida looked poised to get another crack at the college football playoff after a down season in 2025, but the Gators will have to wait another year for a chance at repeating their 2024 run to the championship. Despite their 12th place ranking the Gators just missed out of the tournament thanks to Texas Tech's win in the Big XII championship game. That win secured the Red Raiders an automatic bid into the tournament, and pushed out Florida. Many fans of the Gators were upset with the decision, also citing four loss Oregon, and Troy from the Sun Belt being invited to the dance, but the committee chose not to punish Oregon for their conference title loss, and Troy is being rewarded for their win over then #1 Stanford, and their hot play coming down the stretch winning five in a row including the Stanford victory. As for the Huskies they earned the #2 seed with their win in the B1G Ten championship, but may not have gotten the easiest of draws as a possible date with the Georiga Bulldogs could be staring them in the face in the second round. Here are the final rankings, and bracket as we gear up for another exciting College Football Playoff:

Pitt QB Eli Holstein was voted as the Heisman winner on Saturday in a ceremony held at the Downtown Athletic Club in Manhattan. Holstein held off a late charge from Charlotte QB Max Brown who put up big numbers in the American Conference Championship leading the 49ers to victory. It wasn't enough to overtake Holstein who had been the front runner a majority of the season, as the committee once again seemed to get away of the narrative of team record affecting their voting. Here's how the five finalists finished:

Chadwell Out at USC after Season Two, DeBoer heads to NFL.

The USC Trojans decided on Monday to let go of Head Coach Jamey Chadwell after two seasons. Chadwell was hired away from Liberty University after Lincoln Riley left the Trojans for the NFL. However he failed to improve the team going 6-6 in year one, and then after being ranked in the Top 25 going into this season he again stumbled the Trojans to a 6-6 season. The lack of improvement was cited when the Athletic Director held his press conference to announce the decison. He vowed that the Trojans would aim for a big name this time around after taking a chance on an up, and comer did not work out. USC is still an attractive spot for many coaches across the country, but how high can the Trojans shoot to land their next head coach?

Meanwhile Alabama was hit with an unexpected decision on Monday as Head Coach Kalen DeBoer informed the university that he had taken an NFL head coacing job. Alabama obviously becomes the most attractive available job, and the Crimson Tide figure to have their pick of the litter when deciding on their next coach.
