BRONCOS CLLINCH SPOT IN PAC-12 TITLE GAME!!

Boise State watch as Oregon lost their Week 14 matchup knowing a win would secure them a Pac-12 title rematch with Washington...

      GAME RECAP

Boise State jumped out to a early (14-7) lead in the 1st Quarter on a pair of Battle touchdowns (58 yds to Flanagan and 22 yds to N. Metz)..

The Broncos would extend the lead to to (21-7) going into the half as JB Zac Easy scores on a 19 yd TD run.

Arizona opend up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly makes it (21-14) as SR QB Brian Carmazzi (82) hits SR WR Miguel Guillermo (92) on a 63 yd bomb.

BSU answers back though as Easy picks up his 2nd rushing TD of the day to make it (28-14) as we head to the 4th. Carmazzi just kept firing away at the lead and with 4:42 to play in the game the Wildcat QB hits SR WR Myles Akbar (86) on a 26 yd strike to make it (28-20). Arizona would leave their offense on the field as Carmazzi converts the 2pt play on a QB keeper to make it (28-22).

Boise State looking to run out the clock would keep the ball on the ground by a big stop on the Wildcats on a 3rd and 2 forces the Broncos to settle for a 33 yd FG by M. Hutton making it (31-22).

Arizona still with 2 timeouts would march down field but a big drop on 3rd and 6 would force the Wildcats to make a interesting call as they march out JR Terrell Buggs (79) for a 28 yd FG to make it (31-25) with 1:10 to play.

The Wildcats down by 6 would line up for the onside kick but the Boise State hands team was ready..

Out of timeouts Arizona was forced to watch as BSU runs out the clock..

Carmazzi would finish the game (14/18 (77%) for 208 yds and 3 TD, well adding 39 yds on the ground.

SR RB J. Pettigrew finished the day with 101 yds rushing become just the 2nd RB to rush for 100 yds against the Bronco Defense all season.

Nothing tastes better then some roasted Duck.. I actually live in Oregon (the past 13 years), but grew up in just outside of Boise, so I have been a Bronco fan my whole life. My wife's family is actually Oregon State Beaver fans, so we share a dislike for the Ducks. I actually applied and was accepted into Washington State but never went instead going the Juco route and then actually got married young, bought a house and started working so never finished school.

          CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK

Once again Championship Week figures into several team's quest for a spot in this year's 12-team playoff..

Group 5 Schools like #18 (10-2) Northwestern taking on (8-4) Ole Miss in the CUSA Championship and #19 (10-2) Colorado State taking on (8-4) Wyoming in the Mountain West Championship will need alot of help as the current playoff projections have neither team making it.

But #12 (9-3) Maryland taking on #7 (11-1) Louisville in the ACC Championship could play their way to to a seat at the table well the Cardinals could very well secure a Top-4 seed and a 1st Round Bye should some any of the Top-4 teams falter.

#11 (9-3) SMU will take on #1 (11-1) TCU in the Big 12 Title game. Projections show even with a loss, that the Mustangs could still be selected despite 4 loss's but a win would guarantee them a spot well also taking away the Horn Frogs Top-4 seed.

#2 (11-1) Michigan's Top-4 seed is on the line as they take on #8 (10-2) Penn State in the Big Ten Title game.

#3 (10-2) Florida will look to win the SEC Championship for the first time since 2008 as they take on #16 Auburn (9-3).. The Tigers will need a win for any chance at jumping 4 spots and into the Top-12 for a shot at the playoffs.

(10-2) Louisiana continues to be a G5 Powerhouse after winning multiple Sun Belt titles over the past 10 years the Cajuns will take on (9-3) Florida International in the American Conference Championship

(9-3) Arkansas State will take on (9-3) Jacksonville State in the Sun Belt title game..

#5 (10-2) Boise State vs #9 (9-3) Washington in the Pac-12 Championship is the matchup everyone has been talking about. Can Salesi Battle get his revenge against the Huskies after his Week 9 (4 INT) performance?

A win would secure Broncos a Top-4 seed and a 1st Round Bye as Boise State looks to try and win their 3rd straight National Title since Coach Scott's return.. Projections show Washington still making the playoffs as a 4 loss team

            BATTLE/BRONCOS GET THEIR REVENGE!!!

With reports swirling that RS SO Salesi Battle and Coach Ryne Scott could be both headed off to the NFL after the season, all eyes were in the Pac-12 Championship game as Battle looked to avenge his 4 INT performance in the Broncos Week 9 loss to the Huskies.

            GAME RECAP

Boise State jumped out to a commanding (21-0) lead in the 1st Quarter as Battles throws 3 of his 5 TD's on the day including a pair to RS FR Nelson Metz who moved up the WR ladder with Tyron Combs on the sidelines in street clothes.

Washington plagued by (2) 1st Half turnovers (1 INT, 1 Fumble) would go into the locker rooms still with a goose egg on the scoreboard as BSU tacks on a 33 yd FG to make it (24-0) at the half.

JR QB Larry "Don't call me Potato" Potoa'e (84) opened up the 2nd half putting the Huskies in the endzone on just 1 play as he hits SO WR Quantavious Paul (78) on a 75 yd TD.

Boise State would answer back as Battle finds TE Soma Tuaolo on a 14 yd score to make it (31-7) Boise State would extend the lead to (38-7) with Battles 4th TD of the day as he hits JR RB James Lett on a 4 yd screen pass.

Washington running out of time to mount any kind of comeback would drive the ball 80 yds before stalling on the 4 yd line facing a 4th and goal, the Huskies went for it turning the ball over on downs. Battle passing out of the endzone would look for Flanagan on a slant route to give the Bronco offense some breathing room, but the route is jumped by SR CB Caleb Abbott who takes it back 9 yds for the "Pick 6" INT to make it (38-14).

BSU would tack on a 44 yd FG by Hutton just before the end of the 3rd Quarter though to make it (41-14) as we head to the 4th.

Struggling to run the ball all day (25 yds rushing) Battle would lead the Broncos on 2 double digit play drives in the 4th resulting in 1 yd TD runs by RS FR Mario Ayanbadejo as Boise State cruises to their 2nd Pac-12 title in the past 3 years earning themselves a Top-4 seed in the playoffs as Coach Scott looks for another shot at the 3-Peat.

            FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-55 WASHINGTON-14

            KEY PLAYERS

              2041 PLAYOFF BRACKET

Championship Week came and went without any upsets leaving Big 12 Champ TCU, Big Ten Champ Michigan, SEC Champ Florida and Pac-12 Champ Boise State to all finish 1-4 in the Rankings as they also land the 1-4 seeds.

(10-2) Texas dropped from #4 to #5 in the rankings not playing in the Big 12 title game, and receives the #5 seed.

#7 Louisville's (28-22) win over #12 Maryland has them move to #6 in the rankings and they receive the #6 seed. The Terps with the loss drop to #15 and are out of the playoffs as the selection committee picks 2 other 4 loss's teams instead.

(10-2) Nebraska like Texas benifited by not playing in the Big 12 title game as they jump from #7 to #6 in the rankings claming the #7 seed in the playoffs.

#8 Penn State's (21-18) loss to #2 Michigan in the Big Ten title game leaves them right where they started as they claim the #8 seed.

#10 (9-3) Arizona moves up 1 spot to #9 in the rankings despite not playing in the Pac-12 title game and they secure the #9 seed.

#9 Washington swaps spots with the Wildcats after the loss to BSU finishing #10 and receiving the #10 seed.

#11 SMU's (21-14) loss to #1 TCU in the Big 12 title game was enough to convince the committee to just leave the Mustangs where they were as they receive the #11 seed.

That left the Comitteee with 4 choices for the Final seed but instead of rewarding MWC Champs (11-2) Colorado State or CUSA Champs (11-2) Northwestern, or even the American Champ (10-3) Louisiana, the committee has picked (9-3) Cincinnati who moves up 2 spots from #14 to #12 to claim the final spot ..

              Coach Scott
"I love the playoffs. With 12 National Titles on my resume, how could I not.. But the system is not perfect. It's still bery bias against G-5 programs and it probably always well be To me I personally feel that our playoff system needs to be more like the Basketball tournament with every conference getting a shot. Winning your conference should mean something and it should be rewarded."

Here is a example of what I feel the playoffs should be.

#1-4 Seed goes to the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC Champions Regardless of ranking.

the #5 Seed goes to the highest ranked team from the winner of the Pac-12, MWC, American, CUSA, MAC or Sun Belt, then the #6 seed-11 seeds and so on.

That leaves #12 seed as the only At-Large and it goes to the highest rated team left between all the Conferences that didn't win their Championship.

I also believe that scheduling needs to change... All Schools can schedule a Week 0 game vs a FCS opponent After that, all schools will then play 10 games from inside their conference and 1 out of conference game vs a opponent of their choice, allowing for rivalry matchups that will be played always in Week 14....

                1ST ROUND RESULTS

The playoff selection committee got what they wanted as #5 Texas defeats #12 Cincinnati (45-14) to setup a rematch of last year's National Championship game with the Broncos and Longhorns battling it out in Round 2.

#8 Penn State defeated #9 Arizona (41-28) to advance for the opportunity to take on on #1 TCU in Round 2.

ACC Champ Louisville moves on after a (35-28) win over #11 SMU. The Cardinals will look to keep their dream alive in a matchup with #3 Florida.

#10 Washington was the only team to pull off a upset in Round 1, as the Huskies defeated the Cornhuskers (28-17) to advance for the opportunity to take on #2 Michigan.

                  BRONCOS 1 STEP CLOSER!!

The rematch of last year's title game left a little disappointment in the hearts of college football fans but not in those belonging to Broncos, as Boise State moves 1 step closer to a chance at a 3-Peat.

                  Coach Scott
"Winning 3 National Championships in a row is something very special.. It's something I was able to be apart of at TTU and I am excited to potentially have the opportunity to do it again here in Boise and with the group of young men you go out and battle every game to be the best"
                  GAME RECAP

Speaking of Battle's,, BSU QB Salesi Battle did what he has done pretty much all season and that's to play some dang good football.

After Texas took a early (7-0) lead, Battle led the Broncos on a 11 play drive capped off by a 2 yd TD run by Mario Ayanbadejo tying the game (7-7). Battle didn't stop there though as throws a pair of TD's to Chad Flanagan in the 2nd Quarter to give Boise State the (21-7) lead going into the locker room.

BSU opened up the 2nd half settling for a 33 yd FG by FR Marquis Hutton to make it (24-7). Texas follows suit kicking a FG as well to make it (24-10) as we head to the 4th. Texas opened up the 4th quarter scoring as SR QB Cliff Atogwe (88) hits SO WR Kona Nye (88) on a 40 yd chunk play score. to make it (24-17) but that's a close as the Longhorns would get, as Battle hits SO L'Damian Cummins with his own big play (53 yd bomb) to extend the lead to (31-17) with 5 minutes to play and then with under a minute to play in the game Battles would connect on TD #4 as he hits SO TE Somo Tuaolo (12 yds) on the final score of the game.

                  FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-38 TEXAS-17

                  KEY PLAYERS

JR QB Jacques Dennis (96 Ovr) threw for 351 yds with 4 TD in the win.

Re: The Making of a Legend. The Career of Coach Scott CF25

I don't think giving every conference winning an auto bid is the answer, but I do think if they are ranked in the top 25, they should get moved up to make the CFP. I've seen some 6-6 teams win their division in my dynasty and I don't think they should be rewarded for being the best of the worst lol.

I think with how Clemson and SMU got rallied vs the "Big Boys", you'd be hard pressed to have a committee focused on a television results/money finding a way to get those smaller conferences in. Plus you have to think how that would affect OOC games, I doubt we'd see any of the bigger teams scheduling impact teams from other conferences to avoid losing an early game.

Its a tricky situation regardless and I doubt they'd ever find a way to make the entire CFB enjoying country happy.

On topic, Boise State is rolling at the perfect time! Battles has been on fire and unless he falters I think Coach Scott is going to have the double threepeat

                      HOME SWEET HOME!!!

Boise State is headed back to the Natty for the 3rd straight year as Coach Scott improves to 8-2 lifetime against TCU as the Broncos dominate the #1 seeded Horn Frogs in the Semi Finals.

                      GAME RECAP

With reports confirmed that SO QB Salesi Battle will indeed turn Pro after his season and more coming out at JR WR Tyron Combs will be joining him as both players are projected as Top-10 picks. The Duo put on a show as Combs returns from a injury to catch a game high 10 balls including 3 of Battles 7 TD's on the day.

Boise State opened up the 1st half with the ball as TCU elects to kick, and Battle went to work completing a 10 play drive with a 13 yd TD pass to Chad Flanagan. (his 17th of the season). Battle continued to show off in front of future NFL scouts and teams looking for their next franchise QB by throwing 3 TD's with Tyron Combs grabbing 2 of them (32 yds and 28 yds) as Boise State jumps out to a commanding (28-0) lead going into the locker room.

TCU would open up the 2nd half by scoring their first points of the game making it (28-7) but BSU answers back as Battle and Combs complete the "Hat Trick" with Comb's 3rd TD on the day. (35-7).

TCU would make it back to back drives resulting in TD's as QB J. Dennis (96) proves he can do it with his arm and his feet taking a 51 yd run for the score (35-14) but Battle fires right back hitting FR Nelson Metz on a 43 yd bomb to make it (42-14) going into the 4th.

TCU's day went from bad to worse midway through the 4th as Dennis is assisted off the field after sliding awkwardly leaving SR George Bighill (85) to take over and finish the game. Bighill played well completing his first 3 pass's before SR RB Spencer Marrow (97) takes it in from 5 yds out to make it (42-21) but Boise State and Battle were not done. Battle would throw his 7th TD of the day hitting TE Somo Tuaolo (28 yds) for a score (49-21) and then with under a minute to play, Battle caps of the final score of the night with a 5 yd TD run..

Bighill after completing his first 3 pass's sadly went 2/9 on his next 2 series finishing the day 5/12 for 60 yds.

                      HUSKIES/BRONCOS REMATCH FOR THE NATTY!!

Washington ended Louisville's dream season setting up a rematch of the Pac-12 Championship in a game honestly no one really wanted to see.

Every college football fan in the country
"No 4 loss' team in the country should have a chance to win the National title."
The Huskies looked nothing like a 4 loss team as the crushed the Cardinals jumping out to a commanding (31-0) lead in the 1st half and continuing to pour it on by scoring 17 unanswered in the 4th in the (48-3) blowout.

Louisville JR QB Jameson Mayweather (90 ovr) threw 4 INT in the loss completing just 11/39 for 121 yds.

Larry "Dont Call me Potato" Potoa'e threw for just 215 yds in the win with 3 TD's and 1 INT well also leading the Huskies with 97 yds on the ground and another score.

                          SCOTT EARNS LUCKY 13!!!!

Rumors of Coach Ryne Scott retiring from the college ranks have been swirling all week. Scott in 18 years (4 as OC and 14 as HC) has build become a College Football Legend with a record of 258 wins and just 25 loss's. (.902%) He has a playoff record of 46-5 well winning 13 National Champions as a HC and 2 as a OC. In 18 seasons he has been apart of 15 Top-5 Recruiting Class's and 7 class's that ranked #1 Overall.

                          Coach Scott
"I know alot of people are questioning my decision to end my career at 53 years old. I know Nick Saban coached until he was 72, I know Coach Ferentz is still coaching at 69 and entering his 27th season with Iowa and I know there are another dozen who are 60+.. Could I coach for another decade. Probably.. But I think I am ready for the next chapter in my life. I have helped bring Boise State 5 National Championships.. I rebuilt a Texas Tech program into a National Power... It's time to hang up my whistle.."

                          GAME RECAP

Coach Scott wasn't the only one moving on after this game. QB Salesi Battle had already announced several weeks back his intentions to declare for the NFL draft and WR's Tyron Combs and Chad Flanagan decided to join him..

The Trio has amassed some pretty amazing #'s over their short career's in Boise and today was no different.

BSU opened up the game up with a TD as Battle hit's Flanagan on a 73 yd bomb . The Duo would hookup for TD #2 in midway through the 2nd Quarter as BSU took a (14-0) lead into the half.

The Broncos opened up the 2nd half picking off Huskie QB Larry "Mr Potato Head" Potoa'e inside the redzone, and Battle went right back to work as he hits Combs on a 68 yd TD to but Boise State up (21-0). BSU would extend the lead to (28-0) midway through the 3rd as Battle and Combs hook up for TD #2.

Washington would finally get on the scoreboard with 8 minutes to play in the game as SO RB Shakir Lyerla scores on a 6 yd TD run to make it (28-7), but Boise State would add on a FG with about 3 minutes to play as FR Marquis Hutton connects from 45 yds out.

Washington would turn over the ball on downs on their final series, as BSU takes over a kneels out the remainder of the clock.
