BRONCOS IMPROVE TO 2-0 WITH ANOTHER WIN ON THE BLUE!!

The #9 Ranked Broncos moved to 2-0 with their first Pac-10 victory in school history picking up the "W" at home over the Stanford Cardinals.

Stanford got on the scoreboard early taking a (7-0) lead and held onto the lead until midway through the 2nd Quarter before BSU would finally find some footing as they score twice in the final 3 minutes of the half to take a (14-7) lead.

WR Prince Strachan was named Player of the Half as he caught both scores from Nelson as they cements his role as the teams #1 WR.

Neither team would do much on offense in the 3rd as BSU settles for a 37 yd FG kicked by Punter James Ferguson-Reynolds who appears to have taken over all kicking duties for the team as BSU extends their lead to (17-7).

Again both teams would fail to convert on 3rd down as the Cardinals finish the day just 4/19 (21%) well BSU managed to go 8/14 (44%) but with 3:33 to play in the game Stanford closes the gap to just a touchdown as they kick a 38 yd FG to make it (17-10).

Facing a 3rd and 7 with 1:16 to play, Nelson would find RB Ashton Jeanty out of the backfield for a wide open score as the Broncos extend the lead back to a 2 score game (24-10).

A late stop by the Broncos Defense would leave the team in FG position and after running off the clock, Coach Spencer Danielson gave his Senior Kicker 1 more opportunity to connect on a 45 yd FG and Ferguson-Reynolds delivers.

    FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-27 STANFORD-10

    KEY PLAYERS

    QB M. Nelson-21/41 293 yds 3 TD 2 INT, 1 Fumble
    RB A. Jeanty-27 carries 140 yds , 4 rec 26 yds 1 TD
    WR P. Strachan-6 rec 107 yds 2 TD
    WR C. Penry-5 rec 70 yds
    WR T. Liggins-2 rec 39 yds
    TE M. Lauter-4 rec 51 yds

BSU WILL CONTINUE THEIR 3 GAME HOMESTAND AS THEY HOST (1-1) NEVADA IN WEEK 3

**Noted.. I switched to Armor and Swords All American Slider set for this game after my Hawaii blowout. I hadn't really been seeing any penalties and in this game I got called 4 times for holding and the CPU was called for a late hit on the QB on 1 of my TD pass's to Strachan that I declined.** So far I am pretty happy but obviously will look at changes after playing a few more games.**

        BSU WINS 3RD STRAIGHT!!

        GAME RECAP

Winning on the Blue Turf in Boise Idaho as the visiting team is one of the toughest things to do in college football. Albertson Stadium despite just a capacity of around 37,000 fans has become one of the Toughest places to play in the nation coming in ranked #23. From 1999 to 2018 only 9 teams were able to leave "The Blue" with a victory.

The past 5 seasons the Broncos have not had as much success including a loss to Utah State in OT, but Spencer Danielson plans on changing that.

        Coach D
"When I came to BSU,I came with alot of goals, and one of those was making "The Blue" one of the most feared places to play in college football. This is the year we start to make that happen"

Nevada beat BSU on "The Blue" in 2022 with a (41-31) victory and through 3 Quarters it looked like they were going to do it again.

BSU jumped out to a (14-7) lead in the 1st Quarter as Astony Jeanty breaks a huge 62 yd TD run but midway through the 2nd Quarter Nevada would tie the game (14-14) and then take the lead with a 41 yd FG making it (17-14). Face with the decision to try and tie the game with a 52 yd FG, Coach D would sent out his Senior Kicker James Ferguson-Reynolds to excited on of the best punts of his career as he pins the kick on the 1 yd line.

Taking the snap from the endzone Wolfpack QB Brandon Lewis is unable to escape the rush as takes the safety making it (17-16).

The offense now with the ball and a chance to give their team the lead at the half executes a 13 play drive capped off by a Malachi Nelson 4 yd TD run to make it (23-17) at the half.

Nevada opened the 2nd half with the ball and quickly scored retaking the lead (24-23) and 2 minutes later would extend that lead as Nelson throws a "Pick 6" INT making it (31-23).

The Wolfpack would extend the lead to (34-23) early in the 4th with a 29 yd FG, but BSU would answer back in 1 play as Nelson hits Tyshawn Liggins on a 71 yd bomb to make it (34-30).

After a big defensive stop, BSU had a chance to take the lead but Jeanty is stopped short on 3rd and 1 as the Broncos settle for 41 yd FG by Ferguson-Reynolds make it (34-33).

Then with 2:45 to play Nevada extended their lead as Lewis finds Nate Burelson II on a 18 yd TD strike making it (40-33) but a missed XPT left it a 1 score game.

Despite a early INT and the face he had only completed 8/15 pass's on the day, Malachi Nelson would show what made him the #1 QB recruit in the nation in 2023.

Nelson was a perfect 8//8 on the final drive drive that included WR Chase Penry's 3rd TD of the day making it (40-39) with 32 seconds to play.

Faced with the decision to try and tie the game and play for the win in Overtime, Coach Scott instead sent Nelson and the offense out for the 2pt play.

Limited to just 2 catches for 19 yds, Prince Strachan would come up with 1 of the biggest plays of his young career as the 6'5 Junior would snag the Nelson pass over 2 defenders to give the Broncos the 1 point lead.

        FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-41 NEVADA-40

        KEY PLAYERS

        QB M. Nelson 16/23 (69%) 232 yds 4 TD 1 INT, 3 carries 8 yds 1 TD

BRONCOS CLIMB TO #4 AS THEY MAKE IT 4 IN A ROW!!

          GAME RECAP

Playing their first road game of the season, Boise State took on the Houston Cougars. Houston kicked off their season with a (34-17) win on the road vs Las Tech but fell the following week to Arizona at home (21-13), before bouncing back with their 2nd win of the season in a road win over Rice (28-24).

Tied (7-7) after 1 Quarter of play, BSU would take the (10-7) lead to open the 2nd Quarter as James Ferguson-Reynolds continues to fill all kicking duties connecting on a 35 yd FG.

BSU would then extend the lead to (17-7) as Aston Jeanty runs in his 3rd rushing TD of the season.

Houston opend the 2nd half with the ball and would cut into the lead (17-14) on Parker Jenkins 2nd TD run of the day, but BSU answers back as Malachi Nelson finds SR WR Chase Penry for his 2nd TD catch of the day to make it (24-14).

The 4th Quarter didn't see much offense as both teams struggled on 3rd downs Houston would manage to make it a 1 score game with 4 minutes to play with a 37 yd FG by A. Clark, but with 1:41 to play BSU would extend their lead on Ferguson-Reynolds 2nd FG of the day.

FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-27 HOUSTON 17

          KEY PLAYERS
          QB M. Nelson-25/29 (86%) 298 yds 2 TD, 7 carries 21 yds
          RB A. Jeanty-15 carries 47 yds 1 TD, 3 rec 34 yds
          WR C. Penry-6 rec 114 yds 2 TD
          WR T. Liggins-5 rec 61 yds
          WR P. Strachan-3 rec 41 yds

            WEEK 5 TEAM NEWS

PENRY AND LIGGINS FILLING BIG SHOES

With the graduation of L. Caples, A. Bolt and Cam Camper (over 2200 yds and 34 TD's combined), the BSU receiving room had some huge shoes to fill and so far RS SR Chase Penry is filling them. Penry leads the team with 7 TD receptions on the season after recording 3 over Nevada and a pair in the win over Houston. He also leads the team in receptions (20) and yards (357).

RS SO Tyshawn Liggins is proving that the #3 WR role for the Broncos is also capable of big plays. Liggins recorded the Broncos 2 longest receptions of the year with a 75 yd and a 71 yd reception that went for a TD. Liggins is tied with TE M. Lauter with 17 receptions for a total of (314 yds, 18.5 avg).

JEANTY ON PACE FOR 1000 YD SEASON

With his 192 yd perfomance that included a 62 yd TD run vs Nevada, Senior RB Aston Jeanty goes into the "Bye Week" with 65 carries for 390 yds and 3 TD, putting him on pace for his 3rd 1000 yd season of his career.

2025 WILL BE KNOW AS THE YEAR OF MALACHI

When people talk about Boise State football, the name Kellen Moore is always in the conversation. Moore is considered to be one of the greatest college QB's of all time passing for 14,667 yds with 142 TD's well leading BSU to a (50-3) record.

Well Malachi Nelson has no ill feelings toward the Bronco great, Nelson has been very clear that when he leaves BSU, he wants his name to be discussed as one of the greatest ever to play behind center too.

Nelson with less then 20 starts in his career is currently (16-3) and already has his name in the BSU record books twice.

Nelson through 4 games is on pace for yet another record breaking season. The Redshirt SO has completed 88/124 pass's (70%) for 1247 yds with 14 TD's and 3 INT. If keeps this pace he will shatter both records for yds and TD's he set last season..

BROWN IS A MONSTER ON DEFENSE

We don't talk about Defense much, but it should be noted that RS SO Demanuel Brown Jr has been on fire through 4 games this season recording 6 Sacks and and another additional 4 TFL as he has locked up the starting RE position.

            FERGUSON-REYNOLDS PULLING DOUBLE DUTY

With the graduation of Jonah Delmas, most assumed RS JR Jarrett Reeser would take over FG duties, but instead SR James Ferguson-Reynolds the MWC Punter of the Year, has taken over making 6/7 FG's on the year including a 48 yd long and has converted 17/18 XPA.

F-R has also been excellent with Punts (10-454 yds) with a 45.4 Avg and a Net of 40.2 including a vital one at the 1 yd line that led to a safety.

COULD BSU MAKE IT TO #1

In 2006 Boise State went 13-0 including their Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma and climbed to #2 in the Coaches Poll in Week's 7-9 and #3 in the former BCS Bowl Rankings.

After their 4th win of the season as they go to a perfect 4-0 record, BSU has moved to #4 in the latest Top-25 poll that has seen a change at #1 every week of the season. Could BSU find it's way to #1 this year??

SUCCESS ON THE FIELD STILL HASN'T PRODUCED EARLY RECRUITING RESULTS

Last season BSU signed just 5 players in the early recruiting process, all with 3* ratings.

This season Coach D and Coach Scott decided to target 23 players early including 2-5* Prospects, 18-4* Prospect and 3-3* Prospects.

Well BSU has yet to announce a single player committed and signed on the dotted line, they can now subtract 2 of those names off their 23 player target list including 1 of the 5* recruits.

6'6 343lb DT Pat Ekiyor (#19 Nationally,#2 DT), from Portland Oregon had BSU listed as his #2 school from the start of the season and was on the sidelines for the Broncos 4th Quarter win over Nevada in Week 3, but Ekiyor announced this week that he is 100% committed to the team that has been #1 on his list since Day 1. Ekiyor will be a Oregon Duck.

5'10 201lb CB Bryce Best from Rocklin CA was also on the sidelines with Ekiyor in Week 3, but like Eyikor he won't be next season. Best announced this week he is signing with the Colorado Buff's after taking a Week 4 visit to Boulder.

            Coach Scott
"Well its' disappointing to miss out on both players, we still feel like we have a solid group of players on our target list (1-QB, 2 RB, 3-WR, 5-O Line, 6 Linebackers (biggest need) and 2 more 4* CB's, as well as a 3* Punter. If we can even manage to sign half this list, I think we have a great shot at building a foundation of a Top-25 class yet again. We have 16 of the 21 players scheduled for visits to BSU and are currently listed as the #1 school on 8 players Top-5 list and are in the Top-3 of all the players committed to a visit. It will be important that we keep winning on the field and off the field as we continue to build a legacy here in Boise"
COULD BSU'S SUCCESS LEAD TO SCOTT'S DEPARTURE

Boise State through 4 games is currently #4 in the nation in Total Offense with (1733 yds) and are ranked #12 in the nation in scoring with (37.8 PPG). That success has led to several schools putting 2nd year OC Ryne Scott on their radar as a potential HC to come in and help turn their program around.

Currently rumors are Marshall (0-4), Northern Illinois (0-3), Rice (0-4) Syracuse (0-4), Rutgers (0-3) Vanderbilt (0-3) UNLV (0-3) all have their current HC's on the Hotseat. The question is will they make a change mid season or wait until after? The other question is? Is Scott ready to become HC or is committed to Nelson until he leaves Boise?

              AROUND THE NATION RECRUITING UPDATE

Miami fresh off their National Title and current (4-1) record and #8 ranking leads the race for the #1 Recruiting Class in the nation.

The Hurricanes have currently signed 14-4* Recruits (205.60 pts). The Class includes a Trio of RB including the #5 and #6 ranked in the nation as well as a trio of CB's including Glenn Stevens the #41 Overall and #2 CB in the class.

Georgia isn't 2 far behind (195.40 pts) as the Bulldogs have landed 4 players in the Top-100 including 5* DE G. Hendricks (#6 Overall, #1 DE, #1 player in Georgia) as well as a pair of 4* RB ranked in the Top-60. G. Trufant (#50 Overall, #3 HB) and T. Maddox (#60 Overall, #4 HB)

Oregon's signing of Ekiyor has propelled them to #3, and was the 2nd 5* Recruit to sign with the Ducks. The other is none other then the #1 DT in the country, 5* T. Westbrook the #12 Overall prospect.

The interior D-Line is going to be tough on Pac-12/14 opponents for the next 4 years. Actually the entire line, Oregon landed another 4* DT and a pair of 4* DE.

NC State (5-4*, 7-3*) is ranked #4 well Notre Dame (9-4*) is ranked #5.

Oklahoma despite a (1-2) start is currently #9 and is tied with Oregon with 2-5* commitments early.

BYU currently is #13 with 7 recruits including 5* OLB N. Ramos

5* Sam Kunalic from Scottsdale Arizona is the #1 QB in the nation and the #26 Overall. Kunalic currently has Colorado as his #1 school followed by Nebraska and UCF

5* DE Ben Yang from Richland NJ was the #1 Overall Recruit and the #1 DE he signed with Ohio State

5* OLB KevIn Khaled from Marbury AL was the #3 Overall and #1 OLB, he is stayiing home and will play for Alabama.

NEW CONFERENCES COULD SEE NEW CHAMPIONS

The ACC currently has 4 undefeated teams in Boston College (5-0) Virginia Tech (4-0), Coastal Carolina (4-0) and South Carolina (3-0) but it's BC's 5-0 start that has everyone talking because they have done it in conference play

The Eagles have already played and beaten Marshall, West Virginia, Navy, Maryland and Virginia and won't face their 1st non-conference opponent until Week 8 when they visit Michigan State. They will also play instate rival UMass in Week 10 and a road game @ Texas Tech in Week 11.

Kansas State won the Big 12 last year on their way to a spot in the National Title game, and they are looking to do the same as they are off to a (4-0) start but instate rival Kansas as well as Top-25 ranked Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State could have something to say about it.

The American has 2 undefeated teams with #6 Texas A&M (5-0) and #18 SMU (4-0) but alot of people are talking about (4-1) Sam Houston as a potential spoiler this season.

Michigan is off to a (4-0) and will look to keep that going as they enter Big Ten play. They won't face Ohio State unless both teams make the Championship, but they still have (3-1) Michigan State, and (3-1) Wisconsin standing in their way as well as #21 (3-1) NC State in a Week 8 non-conference matchup.

Many people thought Notre Dame would be the favorite to win CUSA when they joined, but the Irish are off to a (3-2) start playing all their games inside CSUA so far, well Kentucky (4-1) and Miss State (3-1) are both off to solid starts in their seasons.

When it was announced that BSU and Fresno State were leaving the MWC, many wondered if it would be Nevada's, UNLV or Colorado State's championship for the taking.. Well so far UNLV is off to a (0-4) start in non-conference play well Nevada (2-3) and CSU (1-2) havn't faired much better.

Keep a eye on Arizona State. The Sun Devils went (4-0) to start the year including wins over San Diego State, Mississippi State and Texas State (plus a FCS win)

Many people feel like the SEC is still the toughest conference in football and they are probably not wrong.

Florida State has missed a step since coming over from the ACC as they are #1 in the nation with a (4-0) start . #8 Miami is showing they are looking to try and win a 2nd straight NC this time as members of the SEC as they are ranked #8 starting the year (4-1). Alabama is off to a (3-1) start and #7 ranking, Missouri despite being just (2-1) has impressed voters enough to be ranked #11, Georgia is still ranked #12 despite a (2-1) start. Arkansas is undefeated at (4-0) and ranked #14. Florida is off to a (3-1, including 2 wins in SEC play) start and ranked #16 and Georgia Tech is perfect (3-0) and ranked #17.

8 Top-25 ranked teams, will be fun to watch them beat up on eatch other.

              The Pac-12 (well 14)

3 teams ranked in the Top-25 and 2 of them are #4 (4-0) BSU and #24 (3-0) BYU to go along with the favorite to win the title #9 (3-1) Oregon.

But don't count out Washington who is off to a (4-0) start, Cal who is (4-1), or even Fresno State or Utah who are both (3-1).

Honestly this race is wide open minus San Diego State (0-5) and San Jose State (1-4) who are probably wishing they were still in the MWC right now.

Yeah pretty happy so far... Pac-12/14 play is going to be tough I didn't get San Diego State, Fresno State or San Jose State as part of of my non-divisional games and drawing USC on the road is a tough matchup.. But Nelson has some added desire to win as he goes back to face the team he originally started with.

I originally thought the Notre Dame game might be tough and I still think it will because playing the Irish in South Bend is a tough matchup for anyone in the country, but so far they have shown they can be beat with 2 loss's on the year. A 3rd loss however could end any chances of a playoff bid, so I am guessing they will be playing with some extra motivation as well.

Well I have having success on the field, I am still struggling with in-season recruiting. Despite starting in the Top-3 alot of players lists I am losing guy's to the bigger programs in the nation.

Boise State only has a C in Campus Lifestyle, a D in Academics and a C+ in Athletic Facilities (I feel like this is way to low).

I havn't posted yet but I just lost 5 more off my intial board of 23 players leaving me 16 left and 1 of them was the only 3* QB I was recruiting.

BRONCOS SURVIVE THE ROAD WITH BIG WIN OVER THE TROJANS!

The Trojans have had a up and down season, beating Top-25 ranked Ole Miss at home in Week 1 before falling to Georgia Southern in Week 2 (36-29) in what has to be one of the schools biggest upsets of school history then in Week 4 the Trojans lost again at home falling to Georgia (54-10) before bouncing back with another Top-25 win over Utah (28-10) on the road.

Tonight the storyline was BSU's Malachi Nelson returning home to face his former team the Trojans in front of friends and family members who thought he would be a Trojan for life.

USC opened the game's scoring with a touchdown followed by a 2pt conversion that gave the home team the (8-0) lead but Nelson wasted little time finding SO WR Cameron Bates for his 1st career TD on a 57 yd bomb. The Broncos would leave Nelson on the field as he keeps it to convert the 2pt conversion to tie the game (8-8).

A Miller Moss INT however would give BSU the ball inside the 20 and this time it was Ashton Jeanty finding the endzone making it (14-8). Again BSU would leave the offense on the field and again Nelson would convert the 2pt play hitting TE Matt Lauter in the corner of the endzone to make it (16-8).

USC would tie the game (16-16) as convert the 4th 2pt conversion attempt in the game but a pair of Ferguson-Reynolds FG's would give the Broncos the (22-16) lead at the half.

The BSU Defense stepped up huge in the 3rd Quarter picking off Miller Moss 2 more times which led to 2 more Bronco scores as finds TE Matt Lauter twice in the endzone to make it (38-16). USC would add on a 39 yd FG to make it (38-19) as we head to the 4th.

Nelson and the Bronco passing game would go cold as the USC Defense forces a series of 3 and outs and the Trojans capitalized with Moss connecting on a pair of touchdowns as USC cut the lead to (38-33) with 3 minutes to play.

Not wanting to give the Trojans the ball back with to much time on the clock, Coach Scott switched up the play calling with a healthy dose of Ashton Jeanty and Jambres Dubar as the duo combines for 72 yds on the Broncos drive including 6 carries and 50 yds by Dubar and Jeanty's 2nd rushing TD of the day as BSU extends their lead to (46-33).

Miller Moss and the Trojans were not done though as the Moss connects with JR WR Duce Robinson for his 2nd TD on the day and Moss's 3rd TD making it (46-42) after the Trojans completed yet another 2pt conversion.

Faced with just 1:11 to play the Trojans lined up trying for the onside kick but the Broncos were ready. A huge 1st down run by Jeanty would seal the deal as BSU moves to 5-0 on the season.

IRISH END BRONCOS PERFECT SEASON TO KEEP THEIR PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE

For Malachi Nelson not much has fazed him in his first 20 starts at the helm of the Broncos, but tonight the Irish Crowd became his kryptonite.

With a sold out crowd of over 77,000 fans in attendance, the #14 ranked Irish defeated the #3 ranked Broncos in this Top-25 showdown.

Notre Dame took the early (7-0) lead and extended it to (14-0) before Nelson would find Prince Strachan on a 33 yd bomb to put BSU on the scoreboard (14-7).

A Nelson INT however would end the Broncos chance to tie the game up before the half and it became worse as the Irish manage to find the endzone on a 61 yd broken pass play to Jaden Greahouse makes it (21-7) at the half.

Boise State would manage to tie the game (21-21) with a pair of early 3rd Quarter touchdowns, but the Irish answer back with a score of their own to make it (28-21) and another Nelson INT would give the Broncos chance at another score as we head to the 4th.

The Irish would open up the 4th Quarter scoring with a Z. Yoakam 19 yd FG
after a nice 3rd and 1 stop by the Broncos. Trailing (31-21) , BSU would to to the air and Nelson again would find his man open this time hitting Freshman WR Brian Cordero on a 33 yd score to make it (31-28).

Notre Dame however answers right back as RS FR CJ Carrr connects on his 3rd TD of the day to make it (38-28) with less the 4 minutes to play. Down by 10 Coach Scott knew his team would need to score and probably attempt the team's first onside kick of the season. Only the Irish Defense had a different idea as they pick off Nelson for a 3rd time ending any chance at a comeback.

FINAL SCORE NOTRE DAME 38 BOISE STATE-28

                      KEY PLAYERS
                      QB M. Nelson-26/59 (44%) 401 yds 4 TD 3 INT
                      RB A. Jeanty-16 carries 46 yds (2.9 avg), 4 rec 21 yds
                      TE M. Lauter-7 rec 109 yds 1 TD
                      WR P. Strachan-4 rec 89 yds 1 TD
                      WR B. Cordero-4 rec 76 yds 1 TD
                      WR C. Bates-2 rec 61 yds 1 TD
                      WR C. Penry-5 rec 45 yds

                      Coach Scott
"Playing in front of that crowd was tough. We were having a hard time communicating in our plays and Nelson was struggling to read routes. Any attempts to try and balance the offense with a run game was stuff as Ashton struggled in what was one of his worst outings in the past 20 games. Well the loss is disappointing, we still have alot of big games left and still have a Pac-12 title to try and win."
**Injury update WR T. Liggins left the game in the 4th Quarter opening up the opportunity for FR WR B. Cordero to make his first appearance as a Broncos and he played well.**

WITH THE LOSS BSU DROPS TO #6 IN THE POLL'S AND WILL HAVE NEXT WEEK OFF (BYE) BEFORE RETURNING TO ACTION IN WEEK 9 @ BYU

                        WEEK 8 RECRUITING UDATE

BSU's success on the field has yet again to translate to success for Coach Spencer Danielson, Coach Ryne Scott or the rest of the Bronco coaching staff.

Despite several recruits lining up visits to Boise for the Broncos matchup in Week 10 vs the Oregon Ducks and several others scheduling Week 11 visits with the Washington Huskies coming to town, BSU has lost out 9 players including the only QB currently in the 2026 class as 3* Danny Jones of Pocatello Idaho signs with the Wyoming Cowboys.

                        Coach Scott
"Its weird, we were Danny's #1 school all year and we had been having some solid conversations with his friends and family and everyone thought he was coming to Boise.. Now we will have to regroup and join in on some late recruiting of some guy's left if we are going to make plans for having a QB join this year's class"

Jones isn't the only recruit they missed out on that the Broncos could see on a future schedule.

4* Guard Xaiver Branson of Layton Utah has announced he is staying closer to home and signed with the Utah Utes.

Well BSU might have beat USC on the field the Trojans won in the trenches off the field as they sign a pair of O-Lineman in 4* C G. Prosinski and DaQuan Roache.

The hits just kept coming as another O-Line recruit 4* Kevin Bunch announced he was signing with Texas.

It wasn't just offensive recruits signing elsewhere either, OLB Eric Gray was BSU's #2 target but the Long Beach native is taking his talents to LSU.

6'0 226lbs Chester Shiancoe from Beaverton Oregon was a 3* Athlete/RB who signed with the Washington Huskies, well 4* WR Quincy Duval is headed to Missouri.

The 1 bright spot is BSU got it's first signing of the season as 4* WR Alex Harris from Ferndale WA made his commitment. Listed at 6'5 218lbs, Harris could be the perfect replacement for Prince Strachan in 2 years. Harris was ranked #469 Overall and the #71 WR in this year's class.

BRONCOS USE 4TH QUARTER COMEBACK TO BEAT THE COUGS!!

BYU came into the game ranked #24 in the nation with a (5-1) record coming off their first loss of the season to instate rival Utah (19-16)

BYU had won 3 of the previous 4 meetings with the Broncos including a (31-28) win over the Broncos had home on "The Blue" in 2022.

The Cougars started the game and used a 13 play drive to put the first points on the scoreboard taking a (7-0) lead, but BSU answered right back with a score of their own as Malachi Nelson would find Cameron Bates for a 2nd straight game hitting the SO WR for a 44 yd score (7-7).

BYU would retake the lead early in the 2nd Quarter as SR QB J. Retzlaff hits WR K. Marion for the score to make it (14-7) but the Broncos again answer back as Nelson finds SR C. Penry for a 17 yd strike to make it (14-14), then with just under 2 minutes to play BSU would take the lead on a 20 yd TD run by Jambres Dubar giving the Broncos the (21-14) lead at the half.

Retzlaff and Marion would go back to work connecting on a pair of TD's in the 3rd and the Cougars "D" would show up shutting down Nelson as the Broncos manage to put just 3 points on the board as James Ferguson-Reynolds connects on a 43 yd FG to make it (28-24) as we head to the 4th.

BYU would start the 4th with Retzlaff throwing a INT, but BSU would give it right back as Nelson throws his own INT. Retzlaff wasn't done though as the BSU Defense comes away with it again as SR CB Jeremiah Earby grabs his 4th INT on the season.

Looking to slow things down Coach Scott dialed up 6 straight runs resulting in a pair of 1st downs as BSU looks to take some valuable time off the clock despite trailing. Nelson then would complete a nice screen pass to Dubar in the flat as Dubar takes it down to the 1 yd line. Scott would leave Dubar in and the Junior would punch it in for his 2nd TD of the day as BSU takes the lead with just over a minute to play. (31-28).

BYU armed with all 3 timeouts went into the 2 minute hurry up offense, but Retzlaff still rattled by his 2 early INT, would fail to pick up the 1st down as BSU takes over and kneels out the final seconds.

                          BSU-31 BYU-28

                          KEY PLAYERS

                          QB M. Nelson-23/34 (67%) 314 yds 2 TD 1 INT

WITH THE WIN BSU MOVES TO (6-1) MOVING TO #4 IN THE TOP-25 MEDIA POLL AND #5 IN THE COACHES POLL.

                              A TALE OF 2 HALVES!!

Last season Oregon defeated BSU in Eugene in Overtime after Coach Scott played the last 2 minutes of regulation with some questionable playing calling.

Tonight though in front of a sold out crowd at Albertson Stadium, the Broncos made sure to make the right plays on both sides of the ball.

Oregon opened up the game with the ball and quickly scored as Dante Moore throws the first of 3 TD's on the day with Evan Stewart making a nice 46 yd catch and run to put the Ducks on the board (7-0).

What many assumed would be a season killer for the Broncos ensued on the following series. Star QB Malachi Nelson took the snap and dropped back looking to pass, but instead was met by 2 Oregon Defenders who made Nelson the meat of the sack sandwich, leaving the Redshirt Sophomore unable to get up. The BSU medical staff would come and help Nelson off the field.

In came RS JR Maddux Madsen.. Once viewed as a potential starter for the Broncos before his own injury, Madsen would see his first action since Week 1 of last year's win over Georgia Southern.

Despite the limited live action, Madsen didn't miss a beat as he leads a 13 play 80 yd drive resulting in his 1st TD of the season making it (7-7).

Moore and the Ducks answer right back though making it (14-7) midway through the 1st Quarter.

Madsen wouldn't be so luck on his 2nd series as the QB throws a INT inside the 5 yd line killing the Broncos scoring opportunity.

Oregon would then drive 95 yds for their 3rd score the day making it (21-7). Not wanting to put to much pressure on his QB, Coach Scott would mix in a fair # of runs on the Broncos 3rd series of the game. Despite limited success with the run game, (less then 2 yds per carry) BSU would manage to at least control the clock and find the endzone as Jeanty dives in from 3 yds out to make it (21-14).

Oregon's offense was like a fine tuned machine as Moore throws his 3rd TD of the day to make it (28-14) with 2 minutes to play in the half. Madsen still at the helm would lead the Broncos out in their 2 minute offense and come away with a FG by Ferguson-Reynolds to make it (28-17) at the half.

The Medical report came in at half time. Bronco QB Malachi Nelson has a Torn Rotator Cuff and is expected to miss the rest the season and potentially the start of the 2027 season (24 weeks, honestly don't know how it works, does off-season count or not, guess I will find out)

With their star QB out of the game and now out for the rest of the season, the Bronco Defense came out and played a inspired 2nd half of football.

BSU scored 11 unanswered points in the 3rd Quarter as Moore throws the first of 2 INT's on the day, as BSU ties the game (28-28).

The Bronco "D" then cam up big again with INT #2 on the day early in the 4th leading to a 38 yd FG by Fergy-Reyn. as BSU takes the lead (31-28). Another Ashton Jeanty TD run late in the 4th would extend BSU's lead to (38-28) and then after another stop by the Broncos Defense on 4th down, BSU would take over with a chance to close out the game and with 12 seconds to play, Ferguson-Reynolds would connect on a career long 50 yd FG to give BSU their revenge win despite the absence of Malachi Nelson.

He managed to run and not make bad throws/decisions. He has a connection with Prince and it showed tonight, as they did well working together. I feel like we won't need to change up our offense to much"

BRONCOS FALL IN 4TH QUARTER COMEBACK!!

Washington came into the game with a (7-1) record with their only loss to Utah (31-29) in Week 7, ranked #19 in the nation and looking to add to their resume and make a push for the Pac-12/14 North Division title and a potential CFP playoff spot and they played like it.

Tied (7-7) after the 1st Quarter Washington would take the early 2nd Quarter lead, but BSU answers with a pair of touchdowns to take a (21-14) lead into the half.

Washington would tie the game early in the 3rd Quarter with their 3rd rushing TD of the day (21-21) but again BSU would fire back with back to back scores as Maddux Madsen connects on his 2nd and 3rd TD of the day finding WR P. Strachan on a 61 yd bomb and then a 27 yd strike to TE Matt Lauter to give BSU the (35-21) lead going into the 4th.

The 4th Quarter was all Desmond Williams Jr and the Husky "D".. Williams a RS SO and former 4* recruit from Chandler Arizona is a dual threat QB who can beat you with his arm or his legs. Today he did it with his arm, as Williams throws 3 TD's in the 4th including the game winner in the final 2 minutes of the game.

Boise State had a chance to tie the game and force OT but Madsen was picked off for a 3rd time in the Quarter as the Husky's end BSU's 10 game home winning streak.

"Honestly I am at a loss for words. Madsen was playing almost a perfect game 18/19 going into the 4th Quarter and then completes just 2 of his next 10 unless you count the 3 INT's as completions. I had some questionable play calling last year against Oregon and I will go on record and say tonight's loss is on me. I felt like we had that one in the bag"
