BOISE STATE SAYS GOODBYE TO 11 SENIORS

Watching Seniors play their last game is always tough. For SR RB Ashton Jeanty ( 97 ovr) fan's can still celebrate as Jeanty despite missing the Broncos final 4 games of the season with a torn hamstring is off to the NFL (1st Round Pick). Jeanty leaves BSU having rushed for over 4900 yds in his career (2109 in the game) with 41 TD's (20 in the game) with a additional 1300 yds receiving and 9 TD's (541, and 2 in the game).

BSU once again will be looking to fill some major production from their receiving core as #2 WR Chase Penry (77 Ovr) has played his final game. Penry had a break out year for the Broncos as he finished with 69 rec for 1023 yds and a team high 14 TD's.

Also graduating is the Broncos 2 year starter TE Matt Lauter (83 Ovr). Lauter was a solid option for what QB was behind center logging 52 rec for 527 yds and 7 TD in 2024 and another 66 rec for 849 yds and 9 TD's this season.

BSU will look to replace 2 starters on the O-Line with the graduation of Center Mason Randolph (83 Ovr) and RT Dalon Metoyer (81 Ovr). Both players started and played in all 15 games this past season logging in over 1025 downs played well giving up a combined 8 sacks.

Boise State will have some big shoes to fill on Defense as the Broncos graduate their 3 top leading tacklers.

ROLB Andrew Simpson (85 Ovr) led the team with 97 Tackles, 79 Solo, 5 TFL) and had 1.5 sacks and 2 INT

MLB Marco Notarainni (83 Ovr) finished with 93 Tackles, 82 Solo, 5 TFL) with 1.5 sacks and 1 INT

CB Jeremiah Earby (84 Ovr) finished with 88 Tackles, 72 Solo,) with a team high 5 INT.

Also graduation is starting Dime back, SS Zion Washington (79 Ovr) who finished with 49 Tackles (43 solo) and 3 INT and DT Braxton Fely (80 Ovr) who leaves BSU with 42 career tackles, 6 TFL and 6.5 sacks

Last but not least is PK/Punter James Ferguson-Reynold (85 Ovr) who many expect will get a non-drafted NFL invite by some team. F/R leaves BSU with 96 Punts for 4211 yds (44.1 Avg), but had a break out year this year also filling the kicking role making 20/22 FG (90%) including a 50 yd long well converting 58/59 (98%) on his XPA.

COACH SCOTT ANNOUNCES HIS RETURN FOR YEAR 3

When OC Ryne Scott signed 2 years ago to be the Broncos new O.C. he signed a 3 year deal, and it was announced today that Scott will be completing that contract as he turns down several Head Coaching Openings.

    Coach Scott
"I have to be 100% honest, I don't like the time frame that schools start making calls and offers. 10 years ago (NCAA14) a coach could wait till the end of the season after bowl games had been played before sitting down and talking to schools. Now days (CF25), I start getting offers and calls in like Week 12 and if don't make a decision that week, then some schools just move on. Before the K-State game, I was told by both Arizona and Washington State that both schools wanted me. Not even a interview, I was their #1 choice, but I had to make a decision right then.. I looked at both schools rosters, current recruiting class and even made a visit to the stadiums/schools. However at the end of the day, I knew my heart was still here in Boise and I am glad to be returning to BSU for Year 3"
BSU JUMPS FROM #88 TO #38

Boise State started last season just barely inside the Top-100 in the nation before off-season recruiting started and ended #1 in the MWC and #24 in the nation.

This year Coach Danielson and Coach Scott had a similar result, jumping 50 spots from #88 to #38 in the nation, well signing the 4th best class in the Pac-12/14.

A huge reason for that jump was the signing of 2 Utah Ute Transfers to the 0-Line.

4* LT Earnest Greene III is a JR transfer originally from Los Angeles CA and was the #2 ranked transfer available in the portal.

4* RT Spence Fano is also a JR transfer originally from Spanish Fork UT and and was the #7 ranked transfer available in the portal.

    Coach Danielson
"Fano will automatically slide right into the starting RT role vacated by Metoyer graduating, well Greene will start somewhere on the line as we adjust last year's starters. Kage Casey has been our starting LT for the past 2 years and only gave up 4 sacks, but he could easily slide over to LG to make room for G III well one of the Steele Brothers most likely Jason could slide over to Center and replace Randolph"
Besides landing Greene III and Fano, BSU already had signed 5* MLB Zach Eddy early along with 4* WR Alex Harris, 4* CB Britton Mayden, 4* OLB Kona Tinoisamoa and 3* Evan Donahue the #1 ranked punter in the nation as well as 3* Athlete Eric Villa and 3* QB Kevin Grubb.

With just a week left in the final recruiting process, Coach D and Scott landed 6 more talented 3* prospects giving them 15 players for the 2026 class.

3* DE Tommy Merchant (#84 DE, #1906 Overall) is a speed rusher out of Provo Utah.

3* OLB Otis Locke (#37 OLB, #765 Overall) is a run stopper from Dallas Texas

3* MLB Tahj Coat (#75 MLB, #1452 Overall) is a pass coverage specialist from Walnut Creek CA

3* HB Cole Sieg (#37 RB, #500 Overall) is a 5''11 171 lbs receiving back from Saint Louis Missouri

3* TE Prince Nkansah (#67 TE, #1272 Overall) is a 6'4 227lb possession specialist from Apopka Florida

3* ATH Robert Lamb (#58, #1185) is listed at 63 236lbs from Santa Ana CA and will most likely pencil in at TE.

      AROUND THE NATION RECAP

Oregon might have lost the National Championship, but they held on to the #1 Class in the country. The Ducks landed a total of 34 players including 3-5*, 27-4* and 3-3*'s.

6 of those late 4* prospects came via the transfer portal including 5 from other Pac-12 schools as they sign

      Cincinnati Bearkat CB Ormaine Arnold
      Washington Huskies TE Ryan Otton
      Oregon State MLB Isiah Chisom
      BYU SS Raider Damuni
      Cal CB Branden Page
      UCLA SS Donavyn Pellot

Georgia (31 Total, 2-5*,26-4*,3-3*) jumps Ohio State (34 Total, 3-5*,24-4*,7-3*) to finish #2 and #3

Miami FL last year's National Champion stays at #4. The Hurricanes sign 35 players total including 1-5*,33-4* and 1-3*.

Clemson this year's National Champion jumps all the way to #5 as they land 30 players (1-5*,23-4*,6-3*)

Tennessee is #6 Florida #7, Notre Dame #8 (was #5), Alabama #9 and LSU #10.

USC started the offseason ranked #64 but jumps to #31 landing the 2nd best class in the Pac-12/14. The Trojans signed just 24 players (9-4* and 15-3*) but they did manage to sign their starting QB for next season as they land former Alabama/Ohio State QB Julian Sayin in the transfer portal. USC also signed 8 other players in the transfer portal, including a 3rd starting 0-Lineman from Utah (their starting Center)

Sayin originally from Carlsbad CA actually said that BSU was his #2 choice behind USC. The Transfer Freshman will have 3 seasons available to start for the Trojans.

Utah will look to their #36 Overall Class/#3 Pac 12/14 to try and replace some of their players who left via the portal, speaking of the portal, 7 of their 26 player class via the portal.

BYU lands the #41 Overall Class and #5 in the Pac-12/14.

The Cal Bears landed the #42 Overall Class landing 5-4* and 14-3* led by 4* WR Salesi Bullitt who had the Broncos #1 for most of the season.

      Coach Scott
"I really thought we had Bullitt who we believed had the skills to come in and start Day 1 for us (#10 WR, #44 Overall).. It was a huge loss for us and great land for the Bears"
Other noteworthy Pac-12/14 finishes, UCLA was #54 Overall Washington was #55 and Fresno State was #64 Washington State was #83 and Oregon State was #96,

        YEAR 3 PREVIEW

        COACH SCOTT

OC Ryne Scott returns to help guide the Boise State offense for Year 3. The Broncos offense had ranked in the Top-3 in the nation under Scott in Total Yards, Passing Yards and Touchdowns, averaging over 37 PPG and leading the nation in 1st Downs both seasons.

BSU was #2 in Total Offense (Clemson #1), #2 in Passing yards (Clemson #1), #8 in Rushing Yards (Michigan was #1, followed by Navy and Air Force all 3 had over 2000 yds), #3 in PPG (Clemson was #1, Florida #2) had 67 TD's (47 passing 24 rushing) and 260 1st downs.

        NELSON OR MADSEN?

Malachi Nelson's is expected to miss the Broncos first 3 games of the season but a expected return in Week 4 vs Oklahoma State, the Bronco Coach staff will need to decide who will lead this team for the 2026 season. Nelson passed for 2195 yds with 23 TD and 7 INT before getting hurt leading the Broncos to a 7-2 record, well Madsen was 5-1 as a starter well throwing for 2246 yds with 19 TD and 6 INT.

        Coach Scott
"Having 2 great QB's is probably a problem every team in the nation wishes to have. Obviously it's always been our motto here at BSU that no player loses their job to a injury, but if you think about it, Maddux getting hurt in 2023 is what brought Nelson to Boise to begin with. We understand it's Mad Dog's final season but at the same time Nelson was on pace for another record setting season before the injury and has the ability and talent to continue to break records and go down as one of Boise State's greatest to ever play on the Blue. It's my plan to try and see that both players get their playing time this season"
BSU WILL TRIMS ROSTER TO 81

Boise State had 5 players join the late transfer portal bringing the final roster to 81.. BSU will have 17 Seniors, 18 Juniors, 16 Soph's and 30 Freshman (17 Red and 13 True).

Of the 2025 class obviously Transfers Earnest Green III and Spencer Fano will take over at LT and RT, but after spring ball it was announced that 5* Recruit MLB Zach Eddy had indeed won the starting MLB job

KAGE CASEY NAMED 2ND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

SR Kage Casey (90 Ovr) has been a 2 year starter for the Broncos the past 2 season's at Left Tackle but with the addition of Earnest Greene III, Casey is sliding over to Left Guard for his final season as he looks to increase his draft day rankings.

BSU HAS 3 PLAYERS NAMED TO 1ST TEAM ALL-PAC 12 AND 2 TO THE 2ND TEAM

Casey is also named to the 1st Team All-Pac 12 where he is joined by Greene III (89 Ovr) and Fano (86 Ovr) well RB Jambres Dubar (84 Ovr) and PK Jarrett Resser (81 Ovr) is named to the 2nd Team.

CAN HE MAKE IT A 3RD STRAIGHT 1000 YD SEASON?

For a 3rd straight year the Broncos wide receiver room get's a little big of a overhaul, but one thing that remains is 6'5 Prince Strachan (85 Ovr) who returns for his Senior season. Strachan led the Broncos in 2024 77 rec for 1025 yds and 9 TD's and followed up last season with another 79 rec 1171 yds and 9 TD season.

        PLAYER'S TO WATCH FOR

Well most eyes will be on 5* MLB Zach Eddy, I would expect that if BSU is going to have the same type of success they have in the past 2 seasons they will get big years from a pair of Redshirt Freshman on Offense. Former 3* WR Terron Sermon (80 Ovr) beat out RS JR TyShawn Liggins for the #2 WR role, a role where past players have produced over 1000 yds on the yaer and double digit TD's. Another player to watch is RS FR Carlos Mack (82 Ovr) who takes over at TE with the graduation of Matt Lauter..

BRONCOS WILL START THE YEAR RANKED #5

BSU will start the year ranked #5 in the Top-25 Media Poll and will have plenty of opportunities to improve that ranking with a string of W's or plenty of chances to lose and miss out on a 3rd straight year of the College Football Playoffs. The challenge will start Week 1 both nationally and for a spot in the Pac-12 title game.

NCAA WANTS MARQUEE GAMES WEEK 2, SCHEDULES #5 BOISE STATE VS #4 OREGON!!

Boise State lost to Oregon in Week 3 of the 2024 season in Overtime in Eugene well a member of the Mountain West. Then in 2025 BSU joined the Pac-12 and beat Oregon in Week 9 (41-28) despite losing Malachi Nelson as the Broncos rallied behind Maddux Madsen..

And BSU will have to do it again as the NCAA announces the schedule with the 2 Pac-12 powers playing in Week 1.

        Coach D
"I feel like I can speak for both schools in saying we are not happy with the NCAA's decision to make our matchup with the Ducks a Week 1 affair"
BSU will play their home opener in Week 2 vs former MWC rival Utah State before heading back out on the road for another Top-25 showdown as they get a rematch against #3 Clemson.

        Coach Scott "
We are not going to lie, when the NCAA approached us with the idea of a rematch with Clemson, every coach and player on this team yelled "Hell yeah" but then they said if it's going to happen it has to be Week 3."
        The rest of the schedule

        Week 4 vs Oklahoma State
        Week 5 vs USC
Week 6 @ Fresno State (Milk Can Trophy)
        Week 7 @ Wyoming
        Week 8 vs BYU
        Week 9 "Bye"
        Week 10 @ #17 Washington
        Week 11 @ Washington State
        Week 12 vs Oregon State
Week 13 vs #15 Utah (Senior Night)
        Week 14 "Bye"

The #3 seed in last year's playoff and SEC Champion, starts the year #1.

          #2 Miami FL (86 OVR, 86 OFF, 86 DEF)
The 2024 National Champions lost in the 1st Round of the playoffs last year will start their run at another title with a Top-25 matchup in Week 0 @ #23 Notre Dame.

          #3 Clemson (90 OVR, 89 OFF, 92 DEF)
The Tigers will start their defense of their National Title in Week 1 @ LSU in the Battle of the Tigers..

          #4 Oregon (91 OVR,91 OFF, 91 DEF)
Last year's NC runner-up, Oregon will look to start strong as they take on #5 BSU in Week 1.

          #5 Boise State (89 OVR,89 OFF, 90 DEF)
BSU showed last season that you can still be the #1 seed with 2 loss's, as long as you time those loss's in the right week's and against the right opponents, but they also showed that it's important to win big games too.

          #6 Alabama (89 OVR, 90 OFF, 89 DEF)
The Tide will look to get things rolling early as they take on West Virginia on the road in Week 1

          #7 Arkansas (84 OVR, 84 OFF, 85 DEF)
The Hogs made a surprising run to the SEC title game and beat Miami in Round 1 before losing to Florida for a 3rd time. Can they figure out a way to beat the Gators this year.

          #8 Kansas State (82 OVR, 82 OFF, 82 DEF)
The 2024 NC runner up, has won back to back Big-12 titles. Can they make it 3 straight and 3 straight Playoff appearances.

          #9 Michigan (87 OVR, 87 OFF, 87 DEF)
The Big Ten Champs last season and 2023 National Champs is looking to add more wins to their #1 All-time record as well as title #13

          #10 Georgia (91 OVR, 91 OFF, 91 DEF)
The Bulldogs are not to be overlooked. They might start the year #10, but they will look to finish it #1

          #11 Auburn (84 OVR, 82 OFF, 86 DEF)
The Tigers are coming off a 10 win season, as they look to prove to the nation it wasn't a fluke.

          #12 Boston College (82 OVR, 81 OFF, 84 DEF)
The ACC Champs went undefeated last year. Can they do it again?

          #13 SMU (84 OVR, 84 OFF, 85 DEF)
The Mustangs took down the American Conference on their way to a undefeated season. Like BC the quest to make it happen again starts with a easy warmup in Week 1 vs FCS Champs South Dakota State.

          #14 Ohio State (90 OVR, 89 OFF, 91 DEF)
The Buckeyes are coming off a disappointing season last year, but are ready to prove they are the best team in the nation not starting in the Top-10.

          #15 Utah (87 OVR, 86 OFF, 89 DEF)

The Utes are still wondering what happened as they went into Week 14 as the #6 team in the country only to lose to #3 BSU and still not make the 12 seeded playoff.

          #16 Virginia Tech (84 OVR, 84 OFF, 84 DEF)
The Hokies snuck into the playoffs as the #12 seed last year. Can they do it again.

          #17 Washington (85 OVR, 84 OFF, 86 DEF)
The 2023 NC runner ups are looking to make it back, but first they need to make the playoffs and with Oregon and BSU in their division as well as Utah, that could be a tough road to take.

          #18 Texas A&M (88 OVR, 90 OFF, 87 DEF)
The Aggies were SEC runner up's in 2024 and American runner up's in 2025. Is this the year they win a championship. If not a conference maybe a National?

          #19 Oklahoma (87 OVR, 86 OFF, 89 DEF)
The Sooners won the SEC title in 2024, but then a move back to the Big 12 saw them fall to K-State. Can they get back on track as a super power or are they just lucky to even be discussed in the Top-25

          #20 Nebraska (84 OVR, 84 OFF, 84 DEF)
Are the Huskers on their way back to establishing themselves as a Top-25 powerhouse? With the addition of the #1 QB in the nation, they could be.

          #21 Louisville (85 OVR, 84 OFF, 86 DEF)
The CUSA champs made the playoffs last year as the #8 seed losing to K-State in the 1st Round. Can they make a deeper run this year? They will find out just how good they are in Week 1 @ South Carolina.

          #22 Tennessee (86 OVR, 86 OFF, 86 DEF)
The Vols moved from the SEC and still couldn't find away to win their conference. Let's see if they make a run at Louisville and a spot in the playoffs this year.

          #23 Notre Dame (88 OVR, 87 OFF, 89 DEF)
The Irish are always in the hunt for a playoff, now that they are in a conference maybe they can win one of those titles too.

          #24 Penn State (86 OVR, 86 OFF, 86 DEF)
Always known as the 3rd best team in the Big Ten, if they want to be a National power, they need to figure out a way to beat Michigan and Ohio State.

          #25 Illinois (81 OVR, 81 OFF, 81 DEF)
The Fighting Illini moved to the Big 12 last year and got away from Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State, but now they have to figure out how to beat Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma, cause I have yet to see the same conference get 4 teams into the playoffs.

Re: The Making of a Legend. The Career of Coach Scott CF25

            TEAM PREVIEW

            Quarterback

            RS SR Maddux Madsen (78)
Madsen went 5-1 last year including a win over K-State in the playoffs before losing to Clemson. WIth 2246 yds, 19 TD and 6 INT AND 180 yds rushing and a score, Madsen has proven he is more then capable of helping win some big games.

            RS JR Malachi Nelson (86)
Nelson broked the single season school record as a Freshman for yards and TD's in the season and looked well on his way to another record breaking year before getting hurt in Week 10. Even with just 8 starts (6-2) Nelson threw 2195 yds with 23 TD's and 7 INT. The question is how quickly will he bounce back from a torn rotar cuff that has kept him out for 6 months.

            RS SO Kaleb Annett (72)
Annett showed he is more then capable of running Coach Scott's offense as he came in and lead the Broncos to a victory in the Pac-12 title game over Stanford. completing 12/14 pass's for 97 yds and a toucdown.

            RS FR Kena Cox (67)
The former 3* recruit redshirted last season but joins the active roster as the #4 QB resulting in probably not mauch field action this year, but with 82 speed he is faster then both Madsen and Annett and could potentially slide into a Wildcat formation or goal line situation.

            (R) FR Kevin Grubb (67)
Grubb was this year QB recruit for the 2025 class. A 3* from Resdeda CA he has bery similar skills as SR Maddux Mason including size listed at 5'11 192lbs.

            Runningback
            SR Jambres Dubar (87)
Dubar takes over as the #1 feature back after backing up Jeanty the past 2 seasons. He showed his abilities as the #1 late in the year after Jeanty went down and there's no reason to think he can't be a 1000 yd back and double digit TD producer. He has 165 career carries for 705 yds with 17 TD's well also showing the ability to catch the ball with 28 rec for 221 yds and 2 TD.

            RS SO Sire Gaines (81)

Gaines got some some carry's down the stretch with Jeanty out and finished with 21 carries for 96 yds and 2 TD's both coming in the loss to Clemson. He will look to hold off RS FR Montrell Zuber for the #2 job this season with the hopes of becoming the Broncos feature back next year with the graduation of Dubar.

            RS FR Montrell Zuber (80)
Zuber a former 4* Recruit redshirted last year but had a great spring and apprears ready to push Gaines for the #2 job this year and potentially earn the Broncos feature role next year.

            RS SO Dylan Riley (76)
Riley has fallen back on the depth chart getting just 3 carries last year for 3 yds, but he has been huge on special teams recording 10 Kickoff returns for 331 yds (33.1 avg) including a 100 yd return for a TD. He also had 3 punt returns for 43 yds (14.3 avg)

            RS FR Angelo Upshaw (72)
Upshaw is the biggest of the Bronco's RB listed at 231lbs and could look to fill a role as a goal line specialist potentially lining up when the Broncos run a 3 RB formation.

            (R) FR Cole Sieg (64)
The 3* prospect from this past year's class will redshirt this season and hopes of earning some type of role next year.

            Fullback
            JR Kaden Anderson (80)
The former TE didn't carry the ball a single time in 2025 but did have 6 receptions for 47 yds and was huge in helping lock for Jeanty and Dubar as the duo combined for 20 rushing TD's.

            RS SO Clayton Boswell (73)
Boswell is another converted TE who is still looking to carve out a role.

            RS FR Kobly Mack (73)
Mack a former 3* Athlete Recruit from Eagle Idaho redshirted last year and moved from TE to FB as he will look to push Boswell for a chance to backup Anderson.

            WIDE RECEIVER

            SR Prince Strachan (84)
Strachan returns to his role as the Broncos #1 WR. Listed at 6'5 212 lbs, Strachan will look to post another big season as he looks to raise his NFL draft status after posting back to back 1000 yards season's (1025 and 1171)averaging 78 receptions and 9 TD's the past 2 years

            RS FR Terron Sermon (80)

            RS FR Anothy Dimarco (78)

Dimarco like Sermon redshirted last year and like Sermon looked solid in the spring game as he will look to push Tyshawn Liggins for the #3 role in the Broncos offense.

            RS JR Tyshawn Liggins (76)
After not recording a pass in 2024, Liggins had a breakout year last season show his big play and deep threat potential with 46 rec for 704 yds (15.3 avg) with 5 TD's including 1 for 75 yds.

Lincoln will start the year as BSU's #6 WR providing depth after redshirting last season

            (R) SO Brian Cordero (71)
Cordero filled the role of the Broncos #5 WR last season but recorded only 4 rec for 76 yds and 1 TD with all of that coming in 1 game that Liggins missed.

            (R) FR Alex Harris (75)
The 4* Recruit from Ferndale WA will redshirt and look to take on potentally a #3/#4 type role next season with the graduation of Strachan. Listed at 6'5 218lbs he is is the exact size of Strachan and with 80 catch already is tied for the 3rd best set of hands on the team.

            TIGHT END
            RS FR Carlson Mack (78)
Mack a former 4* takes over the starting role vacated by the graduation of Lauter. At 6'5 247lbs he is another huge target for Madsen/Nelson inside the redzone.

            RS SR Austin Terry (78)
After recording just 1 rec for 29 yds and a TD in 2024, Terry hauled in 9 rec for 52 yds last sason.

RS SR Jedrick Sumpter (75) and RS JR Matt Wagner (76) provide additional depth behind Mack and Terry. Sumpter didn't see any PT last year after recording 4 rec for 38 yds in 2024 well Wagner has yet to record any stats the past 2 seasons.

            (R) FR Prince NKansah (67) and (R) FR Robert Lamb (64)
Both 3* recruits in this past year's class, they will redshirt and look to push Wagner for the #2 role next season with the graduation of Terry and Sumpter.

            O-LINE
RS SR Earnest Greene III (89)
The former 4* transfer from Georgia and Utah will play his final year in Boise as he looks to raise his draft status and potentially play for chance to help the Broncos to their 3rd straight playoff appearance.

            RS SR Kage Casey (89)
Casey a Pre-season All-American shifts over to LG after serving as the Broncos LT the past 2 seasons.

            RS JR Jason Steele (79)

            RS SR Roger Carreon (82)
Carreon returns for his 3rd year as the Broncos starting RG. He has only given up 9 sacks over 2 seasons.

            SR Spencer Fano (86)
Fano like his former Utah teammate Greene will finish his career in Boise after giving up just 4 sacks over 2 seasons for the Utes. Fano was so impressive in spring ball that his teammates voted him a offensive team captain.

RS FR Raekwon Tackett (79) "Former 4* Recruit and RS SR Hall Schmidt (77) along with RS FR Pat Witzman (80) "Former 3 recruit and RS SO Trevor McKenna (79) provide excellent depth at Tackle for the Broncos. Witzman and Tackett are expected to take over as starters next season.

RS SR Jake Steele (78) RS SO Eyitayo Omotinugbon (81), along with RS FR Kemani Clausen (76) and RS SO Chris Rozman (72) provide excellent depth for the Broncos at Guard.. Clausen a former 4* recruit from the 2024 class and Omotinugbon a former 4* recruit from the 2023 class are expected to take over as starters next season .

RS FR Clyde Eakin (77) RS FR Domnick Kalis (77) and RS JR Carson Rasmussen (72) provide plenty of depth at Center. Both Eakin and Kalis are former 3* recruits coming off their redshirt season.

            DEFENSIVE LINE

RS JR Demanuel Brown Jr (82)
Brown led the team in sacks last season with 10 well recording 35 Tackles.

            RS SR Jayden Virgin-Morgan (86)
The 2 year starter had a down year in sacks recording just 3 after posting 6 in 2024 but did manage to record 14 TFL and 45 tackles total last year. He was named a Defensive team captain.

RS SO Roman Caywood (85), RS SO Todd Hannon (83) and RS JR Karter Menz (75) a former San Jose State transfer provide excellent depth and will via for Virgin-Morgan's starting role next year.

            (R) FR Tommy Merchant (65) was recruited as a 3* OLB but moved to DE in the spring. Listed at 6'4 231 lbs, Merchant is a speed rusher. who could push for a bigger role after taking a redshirt this season.

RS JR Frank Solatia (81) recorded 43 Tackles including 11 TFL and tied Brown with 10 Sacks last season as the Broncos starting DT.

RS JR Michael Madrie (79) and RS SO Lopez Sansui (78) provide excellent depth at DT as the Broncos typcially only start 3 down lineman running a 3-3-5 Defense but when they switch to a 4-2-5 both could see action.

            (R) SO David Barnhardt (79)
The former 4* recruit was active last season but recorded just 5 tackles. He will redshirt this year well pushing for a starting role after Solaita and Madrie graduate.

            LINEBACKERS
BSU's starting linebacker core is completely new this year but it doesn't mean its not loaded with talent.

            RS SO Jammal Shivers (86)
Shivers was named to the 2nd team All-Pac-12 preseason list and has the skills to shine for the next 3 seasons for the Broncos in their 3-3-5 Defense.

            RS SO Clay Martinea (81)
Joins Shivers in the starting lineup and could solidify the outside for the Broncos for the next 3 seasons. He excels in pass coverage with enough speed (87) to cover the slot WR.

            FR Zach Eddy (79)

Some thought Coach D might redshirt the 5* Recruit from this year's class but with 91 speed this kid has the skills to shine in the Broncos 4-2-5 Defense covering the TE or making up ground to get to the RB's out of the backfield.

RS SR Jake Ripp (82), RS SR Gavin Hambrick (82) and RS JR Chase Martin (80) provide excellcent depth and all 3 have been big contributers on special teams. Hambrick will be Eddy's main backup in the middle and could even push Eddy to a OLB role if there are any long term injuries.

RS FR Cortney Mewhort (77) is the fastest LB on the Broncos roster (92 speed) and could potentially move to FS/SS next season.

            (R) FR Kona Tinoisamoa (75) and (R) FR Otis Locke (65)
Tino was a 4* recruit in this year's class and could push Martineau next season for a starting role.

            DEFENSIVE BACK
RS JR Franklyn Johnson Jr (84)
Johnson takes over the Broncos role as their #1 CB with the graduation of Eady. He finished with 59 Tackles last year (44 solo, 2 TFL) and had 2 INT

            RS SR Mazzi Dowdell (82)
Dowdell was the Broncos #2 CB last season starting with Eady and recorded 77 Tackles (63 solo 2 TFL) with 1 INT, allowing 35 catches.

            RS SO Treyvon Tolmaire (81)
Tolmaire could push for a starting role this year if Johnson or Dowdell struggle. He recored 10 tackles last year in limited PT as a RS FR. Tolmarie is one of the fastest guys on the team and will most likely take over punt return duties and could return kicks (98 SPD, 99 ACC, 99 AGI)

            RS FR Gill Parris (81)
Parris a 4* recruit from the 2024 class almost made the active roster last year, but took the year to redshirt. He didn't have a great spring (training) but is still expected to be a key contributer as the Broncos #5 DB when they line up in 3-3-5 formation.

            RS FR Jamie Cherry (77)
Cherry a former 3* had a great spring game and has the best man converage skills of any CB on the roster (92) but doesn't play well in Zone (61). At 6'2 he could be used in goaline situations against better receivers.

            RS JR Keany Parks (76)
The Wyoming transfer logged 38 Tackles for the Cowboys as a redshirt freshman but chose to join the Broncos in hopes of playing for a National title, but he since been jumped on the depth chart by younger more talented guy's.

            (R) FR Britton Mayden (73)
A 4* recruit from this year's class gives the Broncos a trio of talented CB's that will be around the next 4-5 seasons give Coach D and the rest of the staff time to continue to develop a solid core.

            RS JR Ty Benefield (84)
Named a Defensive Team Captain, Benefield started at 15 games at FS last season recording 57 Tackles with 1 INT.

RS JR Gabe Tahir (80) and RS SO Travis Anderson (74) are the primary Free Safety reserves Tahir could see some action in Dime packages.

            RS JR Wyatt Milkovic (82)
Milkovic originally was recruited as a LB but moved to SS last year and recorded 22 Tackles (2 TFL) and .5 sack well grabbing 1 INT. He moves into a starting SS role this year.

            RS JR Nick Hawthorne (82)
Hawthorne is the primary backup at SS, but could push Parris for some time as a #5 DB when the Broncos expect a run.

            RS SR Dionte Thorton (74)
At 6'3 204lbs , Thorton is the Broncos biggest DB but his skills are lacking to make him a starter or even a contributor besides special teams.

            SPECIAL TEAMS
RS SR Jarrett Reeser (77) was expected to take over PK duties last season but then Ferguson-Reynolds took over all kicking duties. He showed a big improvement this spring in the power department (89) but still lacks in accuracy (74).

            RS FR Juan Procter (72)
Doesn't have a strong leg (75 PW) but does have better accuracy (84) and could be called on for XP and shorter FG's this season after redshirting last year.

            FR Evan Donahue (67)
A 3* Recruit but the #1 ranked Punter in the class, Donahue takes over for F-R handing and could push Procter for even FG duties next year unless the Broncos bring in another leg.

BRONCOS AND DUCKS TOP-25 SHOWDOWN IN WEEK 1

The NCAA scheduling committee got there wish as #6 Boise State traveled to #4 Oregon for a early Week 1 Pac-12 showdown between the 2 Top-25 ranked teams.

BSU got revenge with a big win over the Oregon last season on their way to a Pac-12 title after losing to the Ducks in Eugene the previous season in OT.

Oregon however went on to secure a playoff seed despite a 3 loss season and rolled through undefeated SMU and Boston College before taking out #3 seed Florida on the way to a runner up finish against Clemson in the National Championship.

The Ducks did stop their as they loaded their roster with the #1 Recruiting Class as Phil Knight promises the University unlimited NIL money in a pursuit to win a National title before he dies.

BSU SR QB Maddux Madsen led the team out on the field, Madsen was huge last season leading the Broncos to 5 wins before the Clemson lost in the Semi Finals and one of those wins included the victory over the Ducks.

              GAME RECAP

Despite the game featuring 2 of the top offenses in the nation, we didn't see much in the 1st Quarter as both teams settle for a FG making it (3-3)..

With the graduation of Broncos Punter James Ferguson-Reynolds, Bronco fans got a chance to see what Freshman Evan Donahue could do and Donahue delivers a beauty with his 3rd punt of the day as it goes 53 yds before rolling out at the 3 yd line.

With Duck QB Dante Moore taking the snap in the endzone the Broncos sent the Blitz and JR LB Chase Martin deliver the safety giving the Broncos the (5-3) lead and the ball.

The Sold out 54,000+ at Autzen was finally quite, but as soon as Madsen lead them the Bronco offense onto the field they were back at it in full force.

Again it looked like the Broncos were going to struggle to move the ball but Madsen found RS FR Terron Sermon who had a step on his defender and he fires a strike that Sermon would take 53 yds for the score as BSU extends their lead to (12-3).

Moore however wasn't going down without a fight and would find a big play in his own game as he hits SR WR Jurrion Dickey on a 72 yd bomb to make it (12-10) as we head to the half.

BSU would start with the ball in the 2nd half and found some footing in the run game as Jambre Dubar and Montrell Zuber combine for 42 yds on the drive including Dubar's 4 yd TD run to make it (18-10). With the 8 point lead BSU went ahead and went for the 2pt conversion converting it to make it (20-10) early in the 3rd Quarter.

A Moore INT would give the ball right back to the Broncos, but Madsen would throw a INT of his own setting up a Ducks TD by RB Jayden Limar who goes 27 yds for the score as Oregon makes it (20-17).

After scoring a combined 4 scores in the first 3 quarters the Ducks and Broncos would combine for 4 more scores in the 4th Quarter alone.

Oregon took the lead early as Moore finds Dickey again on a 27 yd strike to make it (24-20), but Madsen fires back with his 2nd TD of the day hitting RS FR Carlo Mack on a 18 yd slant over the middle as the Broncos take the lead back (27-24)

The Ducks would then miss a opportunity to tie the game as JR PK Grant Meadors 42 yd attempt is wide left.

BSU would respond back with a ground game as Zuber and Dubar put together another 30 yds on the drive including a 2 yd plung by Dubar as BSU makes it (34-24) with 3 minutes to play in the game.

Dante Moore (89 Ovr) shows why he is one of the best QB's in the nation though as he finds JR Jeremiah McClelland (86 Ovr) for a 55 yd pass and catch to bring it back to (34-31) with 1:42 to play.

The Ducks would attempt the onside kick, but the hands team of Boise State was ready as they recover. A 8 yd run by Zuber forces the Ducks to use their 2nd timeout of the game. After a 2 yd loss by Maddux Madsen the SR QB delivers finding Mack on a nice 6 yd gain for the 1st down, forcing the home team to use their final timeout. BSU would then run out the clock as they pick up the victory and start the season strong.

                BRONCOS MAKE IT 2-0!!

After a huge road win over the Ducks in Week 1, Boise State returned home to "The Blue" for a Week 2 matchup with former MWC rival Utah State as they pick up their 2nd win of the season.

After a slow start on offense against the Ducks, BSU came out on fire as Madsen throws for over 300 yds and 4 TD's in the win.

The Broncos jumped out to a early (13-0) lead with PK J. Reeser missing one of 2 XP's and the Defense would hold strong as they limit the Aggies to a FG as the 1st Quarter comes to a end making it (13-3).

Utah State would cut the lead to (13-10) before BSU would answer back with another pair of touchdowns in the 2nd Quarter as Madsen finds Prince Strachan for his 1st TD of the year on a 18 yd strike and then follows it up with another Carlos Mack TD as the Redshirt Freshman shows he will be a big part of the Broncos offense this season making it (27-10) as we go to the half.

BSU opened up the 2nd half with some a little trick play as RS FR WR Anthony DiMarco scores his 2nd TD of the day this time on the ground as he takes a jet sweep 47 yds for the score to extend the lead (34-10)

A Utah State turnover (INT by Childress, picked off by Mazzi Dowdell) sets up some redemption for Reeser as he hits a nice 30 yd FG to make it (37-10) which in turned ended up the final score of the day as BSU cruises to the 27 point victory.

                FINAL SCORE BSU-37 USU-10

                KEY PLAYERS

                QB M. Madsen-22/28 310 yds 4 TD, 4 carries 12 yds

                  THE REMATCH

Boise State took their 2-0 start and #1 ranking to Death Valley home of the 81,000+ screaming Tigers.

Clemson coming off their National Title hit a bump in the road as they fell in Week 1 on the road to LSU (45-37) but did rebound with a (38-20) win over Georgia Southern in Week 2 as they climb back to #12 in the latest Top-25 poll.

For Boise State fan's the biggest question that they were waiting to see was who would be leading the Bronco offense as RS JR Malachi Nelson returns for a 6 month Torn Rotator Cuff.

Their question was quickly answered as Clemson wins the toss and elects to kick, as Nelson leads the Broncos onto the field.

BSU started the game with 3 straight runs before Nelson completes his 1st pass of the year hitting his favorite target Prince Strachan with a 18 yd gain. After another 3 yd run by Dubar, Nelson was back at it with a 12 yd gain to Carlos Mack before finding RS FR Anthony DiMarco on a 54 yd bomb as BSU jumps out to the early (7-0) lead.

The Bronco "D" then made quick work of the Tigers series forcing a punt after just 5 plays leading to another Bronco score as Nelson hits Strachan with a pair of pass's including a 29 yd gain before Nelson switches back to DiMarco for back to back catches that included the 12 yd score. Reeser would miss the XP though making it (13-0) with still 4 minutes to play in the 1st Quarter.

The Tigers would manage to put points on the board as they settle for a 39 yd FG to make it (13-3) but early in the 2nd Quarter it was Nelson back at it with his 3rd TD of the day as he connects with Terron Sermon on a 16 yd score to make it (20-3).

Clemson though wasn't going down without a fight as RS JR QB Christopher Vizzina (81 Ovr) finds his groove with a pair of TD's to close the gap to (20-17) the half.

A pair of fumbles killed Clemson's first 2 drives of the 3rd Quarter and BSU finally capitalized as Nelson connects on his 4th TD of the day finding DiMarco for his 3rd as BSU extends their lead (27-17) as we head to the 4th.

After back to back fumbles with the ground game Clemson went straight to the air completing 8/8 pass's as they quickly put 7 points on the board to make it (27-24) with 7 minutes to play but BSU answers back with a 28 yd FG by Reeser to make it (30-24) with under 5 minutes to play.

Clemson down by 6 would need a touchdown to take the lead but the Broncos "D" stepped up once again forcing the Tigers to punt with 3:43 to play.

After 2 short runs leaving 3rd and 6 Nelson would go to the air looking for Mack over the middle but instead make his 1 mistake of the day as the Tiger defense comes up with the INT, giving Vizzina and the offense another chance and the Junior delivers as he finds RS FR Shontrelle Conway on a 19 yd strike as Clemson ties the game 30-30 before the XPT making it (31-30) with 1:52 to play.

Nelson coming off his INT wasn't shaken though as he connects on a trio of pass's to Strachan as BSU moves into Field Goal range. Another couple short runs would force the Tigers to burn their final timeouts and as Coach Scott lines up a 31 yd FG for the win, as SR PK Jarrett Reeser drives it home.

                  FINAL SCORE BSU-33 CLEMSON-31

                  KEY PLAYERS

BRONCOS STAY PERFECT IN WEEK 4 MATCHUP

                    GAME RECAP

BSU improved to 4-0 on the season an 2-0 at home on "The Blue" as they roll to a 35-13 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys with a new kind of offense.

For the past 2 seasons, BSU has ranked among the Top-3 in the nation in passing yards and with QB sensation Malachi Nelson back at the helm for the Broncos coming off a 400+ yd performance over Clemson, most expected the Broncos to do pretty much the same thing vs OSU.

Instead Coach Scott switched up the gameplan as the Broncos ran for a season high 181 yds on 30 carries resulting in 3 touchdowns.

SR Jambres Dubar led the way with 97 yds and 1 TD on 10 carries, well RS SO Sire Gaines added 52 yds on 10 carries well also adding a score.

RS FR Anthony DiMarco continues to show off his blazing speed as the WR scores his 2nd rushing TD of the season with a 9 yd jet sweep to cap off the scoring.

Nelson still managed to find time to throw for 253 yds and 2 scores as Terron Sermon led the team with 9 catches for 110 yds and 1 TD and Prince Strachan added 6 rec for 78 yds and a score.

                    MADSEN UNHAPPY WITH DEMOTION

SR QB Maddux Madsen isn't as happy as the Bronco Staff would hope him to be but you can't really blame him.

Madsen led the Broncos to 5 straight wins and a spot in the Semi-Finals of the Playoffs before losing to Clemson. He then led the Broncos to a 2-0 starting including the Broncos Week 1 win over Oregon, but since the return of Malachi Nelson, Madsen has yet to see a snap in the past 2 games.

                    Coach Scott
"I have never been a big fan of a 2 QB system, but Maddux isn't wrong, his play on the field has been huge for our success and it is his final season. I need to do a better job of creating opportunities for both players to be successful"
                    Madsen (2 games) 682 yds 6 TD 1 INT (79%)
                    Nelson (2 games) 707 yds 6 TD 1 INT (79%)

ZUBER GOES DOWN WITH BROKEN FOOT

RS FR Montrell Zuber made a impact in the Broncos first 2 games (13 carries 94 yds, 7.2 avg) but he has been M.I.A. the past 2 games. Well the news out of the locker room is Zuber has a broken foot that will keep him sidelined for the next 6 games.

RS SO Sire Gaines showed off his abilities with 52 yds and a score in the win over OSU well posting a 5.1 avg over 17 carries.

                    DIMARCO SHINING IN HIS ROLE!!

Fellow RS FR Terron Sermon (28 rec 415 yds 4 TD) might have won the #2WR role this season behind SR Prince Strachan (24 rec 334 yds 2 TD), but RS FR Anthony DiMarco has found major success and has turned into one of the Broncos biggest big play contributors this season, logging 74 yds and 2 scores out of the backfield well adding 4 scores to tie Sermon for the team lead with 16 catches for 323 yds (20.2 avg).

BSU INVITE 4 RECRUITS TO THE BLUE IN WEEK 4

The win over OSU in Week 4 not only kept the Broncos ranked #1 in the nation, but it helped them to climb to #1 in the hearts of 3 out of their 4 recruits on the sidelines.

5* Henry Hook (#28 Overall, #1 TE) has moved the Broncos past the Oregon Ducks as he looks to narrow his Top-5 (BSU, Oregon, Cal, ASU, USC) down to 3.

5* Athlete Sean Flowers (#19 Overall/#1 Utah/#1 ATH) has also moved the Broncos to #1 and by a pretty large margin over the Ducks and Utah as he too locks in what appears to be his final 3 schools. (He currently still has a Week 8 visit scheduled with Utah).

Flowers listed at 6'2 296lbs appears to be future O-Line starter for the Broncos (81 Pass Block, 80 Run Block, 90 Impact Block) and with 4 Seniors currently in the starting lineup could very well push for a starting job the day he arrives on campus.

5* FS Percy Scroggins (#6 Overall/#1 CA/#1 FS) was the final of the 3* highly touted recruits to visit the Blue and like the other 2 has moved BSU to #1 on his Final-5. (Utah is #2, followed by Michigan, Clemson and Notre Dame).

                    Coach Scott
"Landing Malachi Nelson in the portal 2 years ago wasn't just a huge win for us on the field but it showed other 5* prospects that Boise State should be a school they consider no matter where they live. Obviously playing in back to back playoffs, landing another 5* player in Zach Eddy, is continuing to help us as we look to bring some of the nations top talent to Boise. Oregon has alot of NIL money to work with, Phil Knight wants his championship and Coach D has been pretty outspoken about the fact that Freshman in Boise have to earn their NIL money with their play on the field. Time will tell if that will bite us in the butt, but right now as of this moment, things are looking up for us"

That had to be rough to bench Madsen with how well he's playing, but Malachi is probably the face of the program and the team's ceiling is higher with him at QB. Did Nelson's injury actually carry over into this season? That's a pretty neat feature from the new game if so.

What a start to Year 3 of the Coach Scott OC era at Boise. Would be a seamless transition for Scott to take over as the HC if the current guy gets a more prestigious job, though I'm not sure how many bigger jobs are out there with the Pac-12 coming back. Really interested to see how this year goes and what's the next step for Coach Scott.

Nice to see you back at it, Deuce. Have always enjoyed your College Football dynasties. Hadn't been on OS in months. Figured I would cruise over and check out the dynasty section. Saw an old friend pop up and running his favorite team as his dynasty and had to read it.

Didn't want to comment until I finished. Great couple of seasons to begin so far. Sucka to see the injuries last season. Think you could've pulled off an NC had you not had them. With Nelson now back. Hopefully, he can bring a Natty before he walks off into the sunset.

The Injuries do carry over Nelson's injury was 24 months. It's funny because in real life BSU just named Madsen the Game 1 starter next week against Georgia Southern. The fan base is divided cause everyone wants to see Nelson the 5* recruit running the show. So it will be interesting to see how it plays out. In the game, Nelson has been amazing, but so has Madsen so it's really tough to pick. Obviously Nelson broke records and lead us to our 1st playoff appearance but Madsen led us to #2, Madsen was huge in the Oregon game, but Nelson was huge against Clemson.. It's going to be a tough decision all year.

As far as Scott and Year 3. I simmed ahead before I left on my trip just to see what offers might come in and I get nothing except a contract extension. I don't see Coach Danielson leaving for a bigger job either, so I don't think BSU HC is i the future for Coach Scott unless for some reason Coach D retires before the end of my career and the job is offered to me. So far I am not really liking the Coaching Carosel compared to NCAA14.

Like you I obviously took a long break from the forums, but its been fun being back and having a sports game to play that has been made in the last decade. Glad to have you following. Injuries have played a huge impact and obviously not having Jeanty and Nelson last year for the playoffs was reason why we couldn't pull off a Natty but it will be fun to see if I can get BSU at least 1 before taking Coach Scott's skills to another team.

                              NELSON 2 TROJANS 0

For former USC recruit, Malachi Nelson beating the Trojans for a 2nd straight year is bittersweet. For Trojan fan's not so much. Many thought Nelson was the heir apparent to Caleb Williams, instead it's been a rotating door for the Trojans with Williams in the NFL and Nelson wearing the Blue and Orange of the Broncos.

USC started the season with former Alabama/Ohio State recruit Julian Sayin (84 Ovr) as QB1 after coming over via the transfer portal but after throwing for 704 yds with 5 TD's and 5 INT's in the Trojans wins over Fresno State and the FSC Golden Knights, Sayin went down with a ankle injury leaving SO QB Marvin Buechelle (81 Ovr) to take over. Buechelle played well in his first start against Ole Miss leading the Trojans to a 17-9 win completing 12/15 for 183 yds with 1 TD.

But in the 1st Quarter after completing 3/4 for 32 yds, Buechele joined Sayin on the sidelines after taking his 3rd sack of the game leaving RS JR Cade Fox (79 Ovr) to take over.

Fox would struggle to generate any offense but the Trojan Defense held strong as BSU takes a (10-3) lead into the half .

Nelson however would find his footing in the 2nd half throwing 2 daggers (touchdowns) into the hearts of Trojan fans (and the endzone) was BSU cruises to the Week 5 victory.

                              FINAL SCORE BSU-27 USC-10

                                BATTLE FOR MILK!!

The BSU vs Fresno State rivalry officially began in 2001 when BSU joined the WAC and upset then #8 ranked Fresno State. The Battle for the "Milk Can" didn't officially make its presence until 2006. 2 of the largest Dairy producers are found in Cali (#1 state in production of Milk) and Idaho (#4 state in milk production created the "Can" and the rivalry officially become as heated as the old BSU vs Idaho rivalry of the late 80's and 90's.

                                GAME RECAP

BSU jumped out to the early 7-0 lead with Nelson throwing the 1st of 4 TD's on the day, but Fresno State tied the game (10-10) with less then 20 seconds to play in the 1st half.

Nelson would connect for the 2nd time of the game with Terron Sermon (67 yds) to give the Broncos the lead once again (17-10) midway through the 3rd Quarter, but Fresno State again answered back tying the game (17-17) as we head to the 4th.

The Nelson/Sermon connection couldn't be stopped though as the duo hooks up 2 more times in the 4th including a game winner with less the a minute to play as BSU to 6-0 on the season.
