    BRONCOS WIN PAC-12 OPENER!!

Boise State coming off their "Bye Week" hosted UCLA for their Pac-12 opener and came away with the victory over the struggling Bruins, who drop to (0-3) in conference play after loss's to Utah and Stanford in Week 3 and 4.

    GAME RECAP

Boise State jumped out to a early (10-0) lead but UCLA scored 17 unanswered to close out the 1st half to tie the game (17-17).

The Broncos struggling win the run game with the absence having a true #1 with Ashton Jeanty and Jambres Dubar the past 3 seasons, continued to have mixed results today.

RS SO Montrell Zuber managed to find the endzone twice in the 3rd Quarter but finished the day with just 21 yds on 11 caries (1.9 Avg).

BSU would add another touchdown early in the 4th, this time it was Cameron Bates taking it in as he finished the day with 35 yds on 4 carries (8.8 avg) showing the coach staff that maybe it was time to just see what he could do with double digit carries in a game.

UCLA would manage to tack on 10 more points before the ball game was over but by then it was too little too late.

    FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-38 UCLA-27

    KEY PLAYERS

    QB M. Nelson-20/30 302 yds 2 TD
    RB C. Bates-4 carries 35 yds 1 TD
    RB M. Zuber-11 carries 21 yds 2 TD, 2 rec 20 yds
    WR T. Sermon-3 carries 15 yds, 1 rec 22 yds
    WR A. Harris-5 rec 119 yds 1 TD
    WR A. DiMarco-6 rec 81 yds 1 TD
    TE C. Mack-6 rec 60 yds

Still looking forward to where Coach Scott starts his HC career, but I don't blame him for staying to ride into the sunset with Nelson. That loss to Colorado would be a killer if we still had one of the old playoff/BCS systems, but thankfully with the 12-team playoff you're not hurt too much from it.
It's all good. life gets busy. I was gone for 4 days 2 weeks so I have been just grinding out games being home all weekend this week.

My brother is a season ticketholder, booster and has a pretty solid relationship with alot of the players. The guy's on the team love both Maddux and Malachi both. I think the Coaches just feel like Maddux (Madsen) just give the team a better chance to win in Week 1, but I think Nelson will play at some point.

Yeah this game with the 12 team playoff it's all about when you lose. The fact Oregon and Florida made it last year both with 3 loss's and both not playing in their conference championship games shows you that the game does still pick teams based off their Overall ratings I think.. But then again Georgia was the best team Overall to begin the year and they were not #1 where in NCAA 14 they totally would've been the Preseason Top-25 #1, so I don't know.

Nelson is a 88 Overall.. I did sim to the end of the season twice just to get an idea of what job offers might come up and so far I am happy with a couple possibilities but we will see. I still don't like the hiring process at all. As far as Nelson, he went 1st Round in one of the sims and he went 2nd round in the other. The sim where he went 2nd round, BSU actually finished 7-5 and his stats were not that great. The sim where he went 1st, BSU finished 9-3 and didn't make the playoffs.

BRONCOS AND BULLDOGS BATTLE FOR MILK

For the 2nd straight year, the Pac-12 schedule aligned for BSU and Fresno State to meet and put the Milk Can Trophy on the line yet again.

        GAME RECAP

After watching Cameron Bates finally start to make some progress with the run game vs UCLA, Coach Scott dialed up a bigger workload for the Senior Swiss Army Knife this weak and Bates delivered.

        Coach Scott
"Alot of people don't don't but Cameron was actually a dual threat QB for his first 3 years of high school. He actually finished his high school career with 21 Passing TD's, 17 Rushing TD's and 13 Receiving TD's. It wasn't until his Senior year that he switched to WR and had a breakout year with 51 rec for 909 yds and 13 TD's.. He also broke his school record for the 110 and 300 hurdles with his time among the nations best. Bates was a 3* recruit according in 247,EPSN and Rivals Recuiting services out of Mansfield Texas"
Well Bates ran 17 times for a career high 121 yds (7.1 Avg) including a 47 yd long, the real star of the game ended up being QB Malachi Nelson who finally looked like the potential 1st Round pick NFL scouts are drooling over.

Nelson threw 4 TD's in the 1st half to lead BSU to a (31-6) lead and the Broncos never looked back as Nelson throws TD #5 in the 3rd Quarter to extend the lead to (40-13) and then it was touchdown #6 in the 4th as BSU closes out the game, with a season high in points scored. BSU finished the game with a season high 519 Total Yards of Offense with 177 yds on the ground and 335 in the air.

FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-50 FRESNO STATE-13

        KEY PLAYERS
        QB M. Nelson-20/32 335 yds 6 TD, 28 yds rushing

              ROADRUNNERS CHASING AFTER BSU'S SCOTT

Reports out of San Antonio is that UTSA is ready to move on from 1st year HC Elliott Cutler. Cutler has currently guided UTSA to a 0-7 start the worst in the NCAA.

All indications are that UTSA is currently putting the eggs in 1 basket and it belongs to Boise State OC Ryne Scott.

The Roadrunners Offense currently ranks among the nations worst with just 301 yds gained on the ground through 7 games and just 1798 yds of Total Offense. UTSA is currently averaging just 15.6 PPG with only Navy (13.6) and Kennesaw State (14.8) being worse.

              Coach Scott
"Just like past seasons, I don't want to comment on any future HC jobs. It's only Week 8. We still have 6 games left in the regular season and if I can help win another Pac-12 title and help get the Broncos to their 4th straight Playoff appearance then that is Goal #1. UTSA is a great school. The American Conference playing against the rest of the Texas Universities is a challenge I would love to take on at some point. I do know UTSA has been hit hard the past couple of years with transfers and currently the team only has 9 Seniors on the roster."

Well UTSA is trying to get a leg up on the competition, odds are pretty high they will have some stiff competition for Coach Scott by the end of the season.

BRONCOS ADD ANOTHER GUNSLINGER TO QB ROOM

Boise State adds their 2nd QB recruit to the 2027 class as the competition to replace Malachi Nelson is heating up.

                4* Melo Herring
from Corona CA was the #247 Overall Recruit in this year's class and the #22 QB in the class. Herring had scholarship offers from both LSU and Cal.

                Coach Scott
"Herring is the opposite of Everett. Herring is 6'5 224lbs and is your prototypical pocket passer. He posses great awareness (82) and has a little better short to mid accuracy"
Reports are BSU might not stop with just 2 signings. 4* Greg Stitser (Righy Idaho, #155 Overall/#1 ID/#19 QB) is still unsigned and has BSU among his Top-8 schools, well fellow 4* Iosefa Tavai (#301 Overall/#26 QB) from West Hills CA and 4* Terrance Stingley (#385 Overall/#36 QB) from Decatur Georgia both have the Broncos #1 on their shortlist... Tavai currently has Ohio State #2 and Oregon #3, well Stingley looks to potentially closer to home with Georgia #2 and Clemson #3.

With all my dynasties I ran in NCAA 14, I would have to say, UTSA was one of my favorites. I ran a 3/4 defense, and then a 5 WR offense. Went nothing but speed on offense. Playing in that dome was fun.

                    BRONCOS D SHUTS DOWN BYU

                    GAME RECAP

Generally when people think go Boise State they think high scoring offense that uses trick plays and is among the nation's best. Today the Bronco Defense showed they too are pretty dang good.

The BSU "D" led by Broyles Award winning DC Erik Chinander held the BYU Cougars to just 10 points, 8 1st Downs and a Total of 204 yds of Total Offense as BSU moves to (7-1) on the season and 3-0 in Pac-12 play. FINAL SCORE BSU-31 BYU-10

BYU QB Noah Luggo (81 Ovr) was just 12/21 for 133 yds with 1 INT on the day passing and led the Cougars with 11 carries for 52 yds and their only TD of the day.

For the BSU Offense. I was your typical day, as Malachi Nelson completes 24/33 (72%) for 291 yds with 2 TD and 1 INT.

Cameron Bates led the team with 13 carries for 58 yds but RS SO Montrell Zuber looked good with 2 carries for 33 yds . Sire Gaines punched in a 1 yd TD run well WR Terron Sermon continues to mix it up in the backfield as he scores on a 9 yd sweep play for his team leading 4th rushing TD of the season.

Sermon also added 8 rec for 98 yds and 2 scores, giving him 10 receiving TD's as he leads the team there too.

                    Coach Scott
"Terron has been a TD machine for us this season. He just has a knack for finding the opening and exploding through. He is fun to watch and his teammates love helping him with his touchdown celebrations."
Alex Harris continues to shine in his role as WR1 taking over for Prince Strachan, as he finishes the day with 5 rec for 72yds well #3 WR Anthony DiMarco adds 4 rec for 50 yds and TE Carlos Mack has 4 rec for 43 yds

                    SCORES FROM THE TOP-10

#1 Florida retains the top spot with a (24-17) win over Miami
#2 LSU falls (39-27) to Alabama and drops to #8
#3 Ohio State falls to Pitt (38-24) and drops to #12
#4 Nebraska beats Iowa State (34-16) and moves to #2
#5 Oregon is upset by Utah (53-51) and drops to #13, one week before the matchup with BSU.

#6 Georgia falls to #10 Auburn (34-30). With the loss the Bulldogs drops to #7 well the Tigers jump all the way to #3.

#8 BSU moves up 4 spots to #4 with their win over BYU.

NC State (lost to Wake Forest) and Iowa (lost to Tulsa) are no longer undefeated.

Now a new rivalry is building and its that of Oregon vs Boise State and reports are both schools are looking for a name. So far the best they have come up with is "The Hunt".

For both schools a win here most likely means a Pac-12 North title which in turn means a Pac-12 title game and a better chance at securing a spot in the 12 team playoff.

Oregon enters the game coming all a surprising (53-51) loss to Utah putting the Ducks at 6-2 on the season and (3-1) in Pac-12 play. A loss against the Broncos would cost them probably any shot at a Pac-12 North title and with a 3rd loss on the season most likely keep them from securing a spot at the playoff table.

For BSU, there is less on the line because a loss here would most likely drop the Broncos back in the polls but still inside the Top-12 and with 4 games to play plus a potential Pac-12 championship, the Broncos could recover. But for Malachi Nelson it was 1 more shot at getting revenge on 1 of only 6 teams that have handed him a loss in his 4 year career.

                        GAME RECAP

Boise State jumped out to a early (7-0) lead with just 1 play, as WR Terron Sermon takes the handoff on a Jet Sweep and takes it 75 yds to the house for his 6th rushing TD of the season.

Oregon would get on the scoreboard the following series with a 46 yd FG and BSU would answer back as Procter hits from 42 yds out to make it (10-3) after the 1st Quarter of play.

Oregon would tie the game (10-10) early in the 2nd Quarter as RS SR QB Austin Novosad (83 Ovr) connects with RS JR Correll Robinson (85 Ovr) on a 28 yd score.

BSU however would need just 1 play to retake the lead and it was Sermon again coming up with the big play as he takes a Malachi Nelson pass 73 yds for the score to make it (17-10) at the half.

Boise State would extend their lead in the 3rd Quarter (20-10) as Procter hits his 2nd FG of the day as he stays perfect on the season (12/12) as he is currently the #1 voter getter for the Lou Groza Award.

The 4th Quarter was like 2 Heavyweights trading blows at the end of a 15 round fight. Oregon scored 1st and would convert the 2pt play to make it (20-18), but the Broncos hit back as Montrell Zuber caps off a 13 play drive with a 1 yd Td plunge to make it (27-18). Oregon not going down easy, fires back yet again as Novosad connects on his 3rd TD of the day finding RS FR Ben Moch (77 Ovr) on a 10 yd slant. Again the Ducks go for 2pt and convert to make it (27-26) with just under 4 minutes to play.

Boise State was ready to hit back though as Nelson leads the Broncos on a 9 play drive capped off with a 27 yd strike over the middle to TE Carlos Mack as BSU extends their lead to (34-26).

Oregon already 2/2 on TD's and 2PT plays in the half got the ball with 2:42 to play and still armed with all 3 timeouts. They had their chance to tie the game and force Overtime, but the Bronco Defense had other plans and as CB Gill Parris knocks down the Ducks 4th and 8 play causing the Ducks to turn the ball over on downs.

Nelson not looking to make any mistakes runs out the clock as BSU wins their 6th straight as Nelson defeats the Ducks yet again..

Honestly I would love to go to any of the smaller Texas schools (UTSA, Sam Houston, North Texas, Texas State, Rice or would even consider SMU or Texas Tech or Houston) and have them battle it out every year with Baylor,TAMU and Texas to be the Champs of the Texas and a new national power. Sam Houston is likely the only other school that could offer this season as they are currently (3-5)

James Madison is next. They are currently 1-8 and their head coach is at 39%. I am not sure I really want to take Coach Scott to the ACC, but the Dukes have been a FCS Powerhouse with 2 National Titles and 2 runner up finishes before joining the FBS in 2023, so turning them into a FBS power could be a interesting challenge.

Illinois and Oklahoma State are next at (2-7) both tied for last in the Big 12. Honestly I wouldn't mind either school. Both schools are probably closer to a quicker turn around then UTSA or James Madison but their rosters are not great either.

                            BRONCO D GOES M.I.A. IN THE 4TH!!

                            GAME RECAP

If you watch only the first 3 Quarters of this game you would think BSU defeated Washington in a blowout, but the Broncos Defense went missing in the 4th Quarter as the Huskies score 21 unanswered to take the lead late in the game.

Boise State jumped out to a early (7-0) lead, Washington tied the game (7-7) midway through the 2nd Quarter but BSU added a pair of FG's by RS SO Juan Procter to make it (13-7) at the half.

For Procter it was his 13th and 14th Field Goals of the season as the kicker continues to stay perfect when called upon and the nation has taken notice as he is still the #1 vote getter for the Lou Groza Award.

The Broncos run game was struggling once again against the Huskies but Malachi Nelson managed to find the endzone for a 2nd time with his feet to put the Broncos up (20-7) on the opening drive of the 3rd Quarter.

A Desmond Williams Jr (84 Ovr) INT to OLB Courtney Mewhort gave the Broncos the ball inside the 30 and Nelson delivered this 3rd TD of the night as he hits Anthony DiMarco from 29 yds out to make it (26-7) after BSU keeps the offense on the field for the 2pt play and is stopped short.

Still down by 3 scores going into the 4th the Huskies never gave up. Williams would rebound from his early INT and lead the Huskies on 3 scoring drives resulting in 3 TD's as the Huskies take the lead (28-26) with 2:12 to play in the game.

All kinds of thoughts where going through the heads of Coach Spencer Danielson and OC Ryne Scott. DC Eric Chinander was MIA along with most of the Defense.

Scott and Nelson however regrouped as the SR QB would lead his team the full 80 yds ending in a 1 yd TD pass to FB Kaden Anderson just the 2nd TD of the Seniors career at BSU.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-33 UW-28

                              SENIOR NIGHT FOR 17!!

For the 2nd straight year, BSU say's goodbye to a Senior class of 17 players including start QB Malachi Nelson who continues to solidify himself as one of the Bronco greatest of all-time players.

WR Tyshawn Liggins would take Alex Harris spot as WR1 today joining the all Senior Backfield of Nelson,Bates and Anderson. Carson Rasmussen would take over at Center starting next to LG Jason Steele.

The entire 6 DB's for today's game were Seniors as Wyoming Transfer Keany Parks takes over as CB2 joining F. Johnson Jr, with Hawthorne and Milkovic at SS and G. Tahir and Ty Benefield at FS.

Karter Menez would join DeManuel Brown JR at DE with F. Solati and Michael Madrie at DT as BSU switches up to a 4-2-6 Defense for the game with Chase Martin taking 1 of the LB spots.

Maybe having 10/11 Seniors starting on the Defense would wake up the unit that gave up 21 unanswered last week.

                              GAME RECAP

With a change in the Defense going to a 4-2-6, BSU flat dominated the Cougars run game as they give up just 17 yds on the ground as they sack WSU QB Marco Quick 5 times.

The Bronco D also came up with 4 turnover (1 Fumble and 3 INT) including Keany Parks fist ever INT as a Bronco, Mewhort 2nd INT in as many games and Franklyn Johnson JR's team leading 3rd INT of the season as BSU shuts down the Cougars Offense in the 4th.

BSU led (21-7) at the half and (28-21) and score 12 unanswered in the 4th as Procter nails another pair of FG's to make it 18/18 on the season and WR Terron Sermon scores on a 47 yd jet sweep for his team leading 6th rushing TD of the season.

BRONCOS MAKING NOISE AROUND THE NATION

Boise State's 3 straight CFP appearances coupled with last year's National Championship has become the building blocks of a solid foundation in which this year's Recruiting Class has been built. BSU finished last season with the #20 Class Overall in the nation and this year with a slew of signings after their final home game of the season BSU now has 16 commitments on the season with a Overall Class currently ranked #9 in the nation.

5* CB Oscar Alfonso (#8 Overall/#3 TX/#2 CB) headlines the class. The 5'11 203lb from Kilgore Texas looks to slot in as CB2 next season giving the Broncos a solid 4 year starter. Alfonso had scholarship offers form TAMU, Oklahoma and Ohio State.

5* MLB Finau Fatu (#9 Overall/#1 HI, #1 MLB). Fatu has all the skills to be a Day 1 starter, but with the returning depth at LB next season for the Broncos, Fatu could potentially redshirt and take over on the Outside for Jammel Shivers joining former 5* LB Zach Eddy for his final 2 seasons as BSU explores the 4-2-5 Defense as a main stay.

4* QB's Gerald Everett and Melo Herring already committed earlier in the season and are both going to be given a opportunity to compete for QB1 in the spring.

Now 2 more 4*'s are joining the backfield as BSU lands 4* HB Shaun Zaron (#226 Overall/#18 RB) from Palm Desert CA. Zaron is a power back listed at 6'1 234lbs, well 4* Athlete Frank Paul (#251 Overall/#24 Ath) a Elusive RB at 6'1 180lbs and is from Spring TX.

                                Coach Scott
"Landing guy's like Zaron and Paul are going to continue the Broncos long tradition of producing 1000 yd rushers at BSU. Both these guy's were heavily recruited this season. Zaron had scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, USC and Utah. Paul had offers from Ohio State, TAMU and Texas.. The fact we are pulling a 4* RB from Texas away from the Aggies and Longhorns speaks volumes to how far this program has come"
With only 6 Seniors on the Offense and 11 on Defense, BSU pushed hard to pick up depth at much need positions. Despite the 0-Line having plenty of depth BSU couoldn't pass on 4* TJ Eaton (#263 Overall/#11 Tackle) from Clinton Township Michigan especially if it meant getting him away from the Wolverines who finished 2nd in his recruiting process.

BSU wasn't done landing 4* Recruits as they pick up 3 more...

FS Jelan Hixon (#431 Overall/#21 FS) has all the looks of a Day 1 starter.. He had scholarship offers from both Arkansas and Georgia.

MLB Sam Cookus (#135 Overall/#10 MLB) could join Fatua on the outside and give BSU 2 stud LB's for the next 4 years.

DE Bradley Koyack (#93 Overall/#4 DE) is a speed rusher who could push for starting job next season with the graduation of Brown Jr. He is form New Palestine IN and had scholarship offers to Iowa State and Georgia

BSU wasn't done loading up on Defense..

                                3* OLB Joey Hand (#449 Overall/#15 OLB)
                                3* DT John Townsel (#511 Overall/#24 DT)
                                3* FS Conrad Sims (#1367 Overall/#69 FS)
                                3 MLB Troy Latimer (#1112 Overall/#66 MLB)
                                3 DT Rodney Seumalo (#1524 Overall/#81 DT)
                                3* SS Lee Fortunato (#1656 Overall/#29 SS)

Despite 17 Seniors, BSU has a few extra open scholarships and word is BSU still has 9 players still on their target list including a pair of 4* QB who continuing to keep BSU in their Top-3. Reports are BSU hopes to secure 20-22 scholarships with possible transfers through the Portal.

**Not going to lie, landing all these guy's and potentially bringing in a Top-10 class is making it very difficult for Coach Scott to want to explore Head Coaching jobs with other schools**
