The Top-10 includes 8 teams that made last year's playoffs and #3 Oregon and #10 LSU who were ranked in the Top-15 to finish th year.
Texas Tech and Boise State are in similar siutations as both schools look to replace huge production from the Wide Receiver room as JR Alex Harris declared early and joined Sermon and DiMarco (graduates) JR Willie Smoker returns to lead the Broncos after throwing for 3853 yds with 43 TD and 11 INT last season, but the top returning WR is JR Rico Harris (75 Ovr) who has 5 career receptions for 64 yds and 3 TD.

For TTU GNK coming off his Heisman year is in better shape. Schumacher's multiple 1000 yds and 41 TD's are goine as is Miguel Cashman (4th round draft pick) but GNK will have SR Adrian Manzo (85 Ovr) as his #1. Manzo finished with 55 rec for 978 yds and 14 TD last season.

The Top-25 should see some major shakeups after Week 1 as we see several Top-25 teams colliding in Week 1 matchups.

#1 TTU will face #17 Pitt on the road to start their year.
#6 Michigan kicks off their National Title Defense against #10 LSU
#8 Arkansas will face #22 Maryland

#13 Miami FL will face #16 UNC coming off a ACC Championship.
#2 BSU will play Memphis on the road after playing Cincinnati the past 2 seasons in Week 1.

      2030 SEASON/TEAM PREVIEW

      THE SCHEDULE
      Week 1 @ #17 Pitt
      Week 2 vs Fresno State
      Week 3 vs #8 Arkansas
      Week 4 vs Texas State
      Week 5 "Bye"
      Week 6 "Bye"
      Week 7 vs #11 Colorado
      Week 8 vs #4 Nebraska
      Week 9 vs Texas A&M
      Week 10 @ #14 SMU
      Week 11 @ Okalhoma
Week 12 vs #19 Texas *Senior Night*
      Week 13 @ Oklahoma State
      Week 14 @ Baylor

      Coach Scott
"Honestly I like the schedule. I feel like even though we start out with a couple Top-25 non-conference opponents and 4 Top-25 in conference opponents I feel like we have the ability to start strong with only 1 road game in the first 9 weeks of the season. Back to back "Bye" Weeks is a little strange but with our history of injuries it could be a good thing as he also allows us some solid time to prepare for a very tough Big 12 schedule. I am a little disappointed the the rotating schedule doesn't allow us a chance at TCU and the ability to play for the Saddle this season, but I know it will be back soon"
**The entire schedule was CPU generated. The only game I changed was putting in Texas State for a FCS program.**

      ROSTER/RECRUITING
TTU enters the season with just 9 Seniors on the roster with 16 Juniors, 13 Sophomores and a combined 41 Freshman (True and Redshirt) after signing the #5 and #1 Overall class's the past 2 seasons.
Recruiting focus will be Quality over Quanity as Coach Scott looks for his future QB prodigy. O-line will also be a priortiy as 5 of TTU's Seniors on offense all come from the O-Line. With just 4 Seniors on Defense (3 of the being LB's) Linebacker will be TTU's #1 goal this season.

      Coach Scott
Like any year there is always the possibilities of transfers and we always hold the ability to encourage a transfer to a student athlete we no longer feel fits our program (5 per season), so with that said it's our goal to probably offer 15 scholarships in season and potentially have a couple spots open for transfers in the off-season
      DEPTH CHART

      QUARTERBACK

JR George "GNK" Nkansah (84 Ovr) returns for his 3rd season as QB1. The Junior has thrown for 9,266 yds with 109 TD's and 32 INT so far as he looks to cement his name further into the TTU record books. He has also shown a nice ability to make plays with his feet with 940 yds and 5 TD's on the ground.

SR Nate Sun (80 Ovr) returns for his 3rd year as QB2 (3/8 48 yds 1 INT), however Sun has had his most productive game in uniform at WR (5 rec 94 yds 2 TD)

RS FR Dee Fuller (77) will join the active roster as QB3 and is currently viewed as TTU's future starter should GNK get hurt or leave early for the NFL.
RS SO Stetson Hollerman (76) and RS FR Joey Heredia (74) provide addtional depth but neither is viewed as anything more then a future QB2.

FR Corbin Morris (68) will Redshirt this season as he works his way up the depth chart.

      BACKFIELD

RS JR Sal Trejo (85 Ovr) takes over as RB1. Trejo had 54 carries last season for 169 yds and 1 TD.

FR Netori Morton (75 Ovr) appears to have secured RB2 for now, as RS JR Eddie Robbins (80 Ovr) looks to be the teams 3rd down back and continue his role on Special teams. Robbins does have 36 career carries for 89 yds and 1 TD.

RS SO Manu Rosario (74) will provide additional depth well FR Jeremy Nagy (74) and Ben Martini both will redshirt this season.

Former 4* TE RS FR Deon Irving (76) has moved to Fullback when TTU runs a traditional backfield he could see some vulture TD's close to the goaline if the opportunity comes up.

RS SO Sam Asiai (73) also is listed at FB. Asiai didn't have a carry last season but did manage to catch a 1 yd TD on his only stat of the year.

      WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END

RS SR Adrian Manzo (85 Ovr) jumps from WR3 to WR1 this year, as he looks to improve on 55 rec for 978 yds and 14 TD's last year.
RS JR Salesi Finau (82 Ovr) goes from WR4 to WR2 this year (Finau posted good #'s in the games I played but didn't receive any stats in the games I had to sim to make up for the deleated save file)

FR Bobby Byron (75 Ovr) will be this year's #3. Most assumed that 5* Rico Hatfield (70 Ovr) would win the job this spring but Hatfield showed up to Lubbock appearing unmotivated and has already earned the title of "Bust"

RS SO Glen Ingold (74), RS FR Prince Ekwonu (73) will probably rotate as the team's #4/#5 this season, with the team also potentially using backup QB Nate Sun at WR again.

RS FR Daronte Davis (71) and RS FR LaMicael Murry (71) will provide additional depth

FR Eric Lopes (67) will join Hatfield on the reserves using their redshirt as both players hope to work their way up the depth chart next year.

RS JR Demetrius Frost (79 Ovr) takes over as TE1 with the graudation of Trevor Kugbila. Frost has 4 career receptions for 57 yds.
FR Kevvin Pickering (73) and RS SO Timmy Cameron (72) will be the active backups and rotate as the #2, well fellow FR Spencer Bostic (73) will redshirt with plans of pushing for Frost's starting job in 2032.

      O-LINE

SO Deontay Meyers (81) returns for his 2nd season as the team's starting LT. Meyers the former 5* #1 Overall Recruit in last year's recruiting class will loock to improve on his 6 Sacks he gave up last season as a true Freshman.

SR Devin Ashmore (83) takes over at LG with RS SO John Todia (84) taking over at Center. SR Randy Treggs (91) returns for his 3rd year as a starter at RG.

RS FR Larry Brooks (77) beat out RS FR A. Wooten (78) to earn the starting RT job (better Awareness), but both players are expected to see some time

SR Erick Tyler (80) is the primary backup at Guard, with JR Jamie Bias (80) and RS FR Tyler Valdez (79) providing additional depth.

JR Roland Mallory (79) is the primary backup at LT well RS SO Gideon Amadi (81) is the primary backup at Center.

RS FR Nigel Session (74) and RS FR George Igwenagu (74) provide additional depth.

FR Jason Clemens (70), FR Randy Orlosky (69), FR Shaydon Cromartie (68), FR Jamie Melendez (70) and FR Garrett McCauley (68) will all Redshirt.

      Coach Scott on the Offense
"We are excited. Having GNK back for Year 3 is huge. I honestly don't know if he has reach his full potential yet. This could be a even bigger year then we have seen yet. We like Trejo in the backfield but are excited to see what Morton can do, and despite not alot of game time experience we feel pretty good about our WR/TE's. Our O-Line has a great mix of youth and experience and we have alot of depth that has room to grow and improve."
      D-LINE

RS JR Gill Hendrix (81) has posted decent #'s as a backup 11 TFL (8.5 sacks) over 2 seasons and is ready for a bigger role at LE. If he struggles TTU can turn to RS JR Martin Biggums (79) who posted 6 sacks in 2028 as a reserve.

RS SO Adrian Stick (90 Ovr) returns as the teams leading sack getter (7.5) from last season and is a Team Captain on the Defense.

RS FR Brian Gullermo (79) and RS FR Thad Leon (74) join the active roster and will see action this year.

5* Recruit Antwan Allgeier (78), 4* Recruit Quantavious Rozeboom (76) and 3* Recruit Kevin Zuber are all set to Redshirt.

Former 5* Recruit RS FR Enrique Nunn (85) takes over as the teams starting DT. well former 4* JR Sean Robinson (86) will rotate in and play when TTU runs a 4-2-5 Defense.

RS FR Faitele Gash (83) will provide additional depth and could rotate in at any spot on the line as a pass rush specialist.

      LINEBACKERS

SR Josh Baadknews (87) returns as a 3rd year starter, 2nd at OLB. Baadknews recorded 57 Tackles with 10 TFL and 4 sacks as a SO and followed it up with 5 sacks last season.

RS JR Carlos Gee (82) and RS SO Daniel Mixon (84) will probably rotate at the other OLB spot when TTU runs a 3-3-5 formation.

Gee had 23 Tackles and 2 Sacks last season, well Mixon redshirted.
JR Darrell Vanover (81) is the primary MLB after posting 62 Tackles last year (51 solo) with a INT and 3 pass Deflections.

SR Brian Gibbs (79) played alot last year in a reserve role and will again this year after posting 60 Tackles with 5 TFL and 3 Sacks.
RS JR Juan Gouveia (77) is the primary backup on the outside, he also could see action at DE as a pass rush specialist.

RS FR Manuel Vizcaino (78) and RS FR Christian Cormier (75), are coming off their Redshirt and could pus Gibbs and Gourveia for snaps. SR Marquise Ingold (74) provides additional depth.

      DEFENSIVE BACKS

SO Matt Sorah (88) takes over as CB1. The former 5* recorded 54 Tackles last year and led the team with 3 INT's.
SR Evan Fowler (82) has averaged 60 Tackles and 3 INT's the past 2 seasons. Both year's starting out as the #3CB and playing as the CB2 by years end. This year he will start opposite Sorah.

RS SO Brian Castillo (84) recorded 38 Tackles and 1 INT last season as a reserve. He could push Fowler for more snaps this year but also needs to hold off 5* Recruit John Baggett (80) who will be on the active roster to start the season.

RS FR Benjamin Ricks (78) also is in the hunt for snaps at CB well FR Jose Bias (74) will redshirt.

5* Recruit Stefon Freeland (80) takes over as the teams starting FS. RS JR Rykeem Lampkin (75) will be the primary backup, well FR Paul Brownlee (74) will redshirt.

RS JR Keke Guy (78) takes over as the teams starting SS. The former 3* has 57 Tackles and 2 INT as a reserve the past 2 seasons.

RS SO Hakeem Obaba (77) is the primary backup at SS after being recruited as a 6'3 2* CB.

      Coach Scott on the Defense
"I love what Coach McCardell has done with the Defense the past 2 years. I believe our "D" is as talented as any team's in the nation. Our Offense gets that National accolades because the the yards, and points scored, but it's our Defense that time and time again has made big plays to win us ball games. I am excited to continue to see what this unit can do, as we continue to stockpile Top talent on both sides of the ball."

      SPECIAL TEAMS

RS JR Kenny Bean (74) returns as the teams PK. He landed 7/11 FG's last year (63%) and was a perfect 60/60 on XP's.

RS FR Doug Khaled (73) could push Bean on FG's over 40 yds and will handle the kickoff duties.

FR Eric Covington (66) takes over as the teams punter with the graduation of Timmy Pride.

man disappointing way for the season to end. Did that have any influence on Coach Scott spurning the Buckeyes, unfinished business?

Recruiting class turned out great and overall the team looks primed for another monster season

Unfinished for sure. Not only the playoff loss but the fact at GNK won the Heisman with sim stats.. I wanted to come back and try and win one with me at the helm. But it's going to be tougher without Schumacher and Cashman for sure. Still trying to feel out what WR's are going to step up. Was really bummed that Hatfield ended up being a bust. .

Also Careless made a valid point. Well going to a Blue Blood program offers alot of nice things (A+ basically in every recruiting pitch), even with a National Title and now a Big 12 Title to TTU's resume, I havn't really built them into a Big 12/Texas Power just yet. Honestly at this point I really do think BSU would be the only school to pull me away. At some point with the game I will start another Dynasty probably with some Team Builders added and start with a small school building them into a National Power.. I havn't checked yet if I could build Eastern Washington yet with Red Turf or not. But for now I think another 3-4 years at TTU for sure. I would love to see this #1 Class graduate and see how many of them I can build into NFL draft picks.

TTU OPENS SEASON WITH A WIN!

Week 1 games vs a Top-25 opponent on the road is typically a recipe for a upset, but #1 TTU doesn't like following recipes.

It was a slow start for both offenses as both teams Punters were busy as the 1st Quarter comes to a close (0-0). Texas Tech however would wake up from the slumber and score 3 times in the 2nd Quarter to take a (20-0) lead after a missed PAT by Kenny Bean..

The 2nd half was alot alike the 1st Quarter as the TTU Defense continued to dominate forcing 2 turnovers well holding Pitt to just 2-14 on 3rd down. Both teams would trade FG's in the 3rd Quarter to make it (23-3) and TTU would tack on another late in the game to close this one out.

            FINAL SCORE TTU-26 PITT-3

            KEY PLAYERS

            QB GNK-15/23 246 yds 3 TD, 22 yds rushing
            RB S. Trejo-8 carries 19 yds
            RB N. Morton-8 carries 36 yds
            RB E. Robbins-6 carries 49 yds
            WR B. Byron-4 rec 106 yds 1 TD
            WR A. Manzo-5 rec 95 yds 2 TD
            WR S. Finau-1 rec 8 yds
            WR P Ekonu-1 rec 7 yds
            TE D. Frost-3 rec 28 yds

The TTU D-Line got to Pitt QB Clayton Meeks (81 ovr) 5 times as the Senior finished just 18/31 for 201 yds with 1 INT. The Ground game didn't fair much better as RB Z. Westbrook (84 Ovr) finished with 10 carries for 37 yds and the fumble.

            Coach Scott
"I am really proud of our Defense tonight. That was by far our best performance yet. I knew going into the season that this unit had a chance to be Elite and they showed it tonight. Pitt is not just a Top-25 program but a team that played in the Big Ten Championship last year and made the playoffs."

Fresno State (84 Ovr/84 Off/84 Def) comes to town. The Bulldogs opened up their season with a (21-17) win over Idaho (FCS Northwest). Fresno finished last season ranked in the Top-25 with 9 wins making the MW Championship before losing to BYU.

RED RAIDERS WIN HOME OPENER BUT LOSE MANZO!!

Texas Tech improved to 2-0 on the season winning their home opener at Jones A&T, but it didn't come without a cost.

#1 WR Adrian Manzo was hurt early in the 1st Quarter after making 2 catches.. He left holding his left arm which we later learned is dislocated. He is expected to miss the next 4 weeks.

TTU led (7-0) at the end of the 1st Quarter but Fresno played very solid on Defense in the 2nd Quarter forcing 5 punts in the 1st half as the Bulldogs took a (10-7) lead into the locker room.

TTU would open up the 2nd half with a 67yd TD run by WR Salesi Finau to take the lead (14-10). Fresno State answered back with a 39 yd FG to make it (14-13) as we head to the 4th.

RS SO CB Brian Castillo was huge in the 4th Quarter picking off Fresno QB Johnny Brown (86 Ovr) twice to hold the Bulldogs soreless, well GNK finds Finau for his 2nd Receiving TD of the day to close out the game.

FINAL SCORE TEXAS TECH-21 FRESNO STATE-13

              KEY PLAYERES

              QB GNK-16/21 (76%) 178 yds 2 TD, 9 carries 37 yds
              RB S. Trejo-12 carries 36 yds, 2 rec 8 yds
              RB N. Morton-4 carries 9 yds, 1 rec 10 yds
              WR S. Finau-2 carries 70 yds 1 TD rushing, 5 rec 97 yds 2 TD receiving

Manzo seems to get hurt often, unfortunately. hopeully the other WRs can start to step up.

nice wins to open the season. GNK is not turning the ball over and the defense is playing great

TTU WINS IN A DIFFERENT FASHION!!

#1 Texas Tech survived another Top-25 showdown in Week 3 with their victory over #6 Arkansas but it wasn't done in typical Texas Tech fashion, as TTU finishes the day with a season low and GNK career low 174 yds through the air.

                  Coach Scott
"I know after last week's 178 yds (a previous career low) alot of people have asked what has happened with TTU's Air Raid approach. It's true Coach Frye and I have switched a few things up (Trying Matt10's AA 11 minute Sliders) as well as trying to keep GNK from racking up alot of unneeded INT's."
                  GAME RECAP

Texas Tech took the early (14-7) lead behind the arm of GNK as the JR QB completes passing TD's to RS FR Prince Ekwonu (29 yds) and JR Salesi Finau (23 yds). The TTU WR depth took another hit as RS SO Glen Ingold leaves the game early in the 1st Quarter though with a Forearm Fracture. Ingold is expected to miss the next 6-7 weeks.

GNK would add a 3rd score on the day this time with his feet as he caps off a 12 play 82 yd drive with a 5 yd score to make it (21-7) with 3 minutes to play. The TTU Defense continued to play strong and forced a punt with 1:18 to play but a GNK INT gave the Hogs new life and SR QB Jeff Pierce (88 Ovr) made them pay with a 60 yd TD to SR WR Tyler Sizmore (84 Ovr) to make it (21-14) at the half.

A Pierce INT opened up the 2nd half as RS SO CB Brian Castillo gets his 3rd INT of the season and that's when TTU would go to the ground with 11 straight runs capped by a 4 yd TD run to make (28-14).

TTU would add to the lead early in the 4th with 34 FG by Kenny Bean to make it (31-14).. The Hogs though would rally back as Pierce throws 2 TD's in the 4th to make it (31-28) with under 4 minutes to play.

TTU sticking with the ground game gets a nice 32 yd run by Trejo to open the drive and with 1:18 to play after forcing the Hogs to burn all 3 timeouts, TTU punches it in with a 3 yd run by backup RB Eddie Robbins to give TTU the 10 point lead and the victory.

Yeah I don't know. I never really paid attention to the injury ratings but after you said that I looked and almost all my WR's have a rating in the low 90's as does most of my team.. I got a few guy's in the 80's. Does a higher #' mean they are less likely to get hurt or more likely, cause Dee Fuller my #3 QB has a rating of 96 but the 3* Athlete I just recruited has a rating of 79..

                      TTU MAKES IT 4-0

Despite yet another win, TTU seems to have a identity issue this year on offense as GNK finishes another game with under 300 yds on the season. Texas Tech will have the next 2 weeks off before opening up Big 12 play against Top-25 ranked Colorado so maybe there is still time to figure it out.

                      GAME RECAP

Texas State showed why they are 3-0 as they hung with TTU throughout the 1st half as Soph QB Salvador Rosas (70 Ovr) throws for 1 TD and runs for another to tie the game up (14-14). Rosas would finish the half a perfect 10/10 for 140 yds well adding 84 yds (the TD run was 70 yds) on the ground.

Rosas however would go just 1/5 in the opening drive of the 2nd half before leaving the game with a injury. His replacement FR Maurice Shelly (67 Ovr) wouldn't fare as well as he completes just 9/19 for 133 yds with 2 sacks.

For TTU the offense was very balanced today as GNK throws 2 TD in the 1st half and Sal Trejo runs for 2 in the 2nd half as Texas Tech cruises to the victory.

                        TEAM REPORT

                        OFFENSIVE WOES

Despite a 4-0 start and 2 wins over Top-25 programs, TTU fan's are worried about what they have seen from the Red Raiders offense in the early going.

TTU is currently averaging just 28.3 PPG, well scoring 9 TD's through the air and 6 on the ground. In 4 games GNK has just 872 yds passing well the TTU rushing attack is averaging over 120 yds per game.

                        Coach Scott
"I have to be completely honest, I am not really about it either, but our Defense is playing great. They are ranked in the Top-10 allowing just just over 15.1 PPG. It's been a weird year and it's going to get even more weird as we have the next 2 weeks off."
MANZO TO RETURN IN WEEK 7

The 2 week Bye couldn't have come at a better time for #1 WR Adrian Manzo as the Senior is expected to make his return against Colorado in Week 7

                        WHOSE NEXT?

When Erick Shumacher and Miguel Cashman graduated, TTU fan's were left to wonder who was the next star WR among the stable of WR's Scott has recruited the past 2 seasons.

5* Rico Hatfield ended up redshirting leaving 4* Bobby Byron the #3WR role and so far Byron has delivered leading the team with 12 rec for 216 yds (18.0 avg) with 1 TD.

When Manzo and Ingold went down, Coach Scott needed to fill the #1 and #4 spots and so far RS FR Prince Ekwonu has stepped up recording 9 rec for 179 yds and 2 TD the past 2 games.

Coach Scott "I have a history with WR's name Prince doing great things on the field. (Prince Strachan at BSU was a 3 time 1000 yd receiver). Well Ekwonu wasn't highly rated (3* and just a 73 Ovr), he has stepped up these past 2 weeks and has proven he is ready for a bigger role..

Another player who has stepped into some big shoes and so far has filled them well is JR TE Demetrius Frost. With just 4 career receptions over 2 seasons and 57 yds. Frost has already more then doubled those #'s the first 4 games with 11 receptions for 112 yds with 1 TD.

                        GNK AND THE HESIMAN

Despite winning the Heisman last season, GNK is currently not even in the Top-5 discussion through the first 6 weeks of the season so far. Despite the fact is #'s are not that far off.

SR QB Kris Denny (USC) is currently #1 in the vote getting throwing for 1038 yds with 11 TD and 0 INT well adding 139 yds and 3 TD on the ground, well leading USC to a 4-0 start and #8 ranking

GNK so far has thrown for 872 yds with 9 TD and 1 INT well rushing for 106 yds and 1 TD.

                        Coach Scott
"I spoke to GNK this week and neither he or I are worried. His stats will come.. Obviously fans got use to seeing him throw for over 5000 yds and 60 TD's as a Freshman and expect big #'s but he also sees the value in making smart decisions as well. We are trying to show NFL scouts he has the decision making abilities to be a starter in the NFL and you don't do that throwing INT's."

                        RECRUITING UPDATE

TTU and Coach Scott have their first commitment for the 2030 Class, as 4* RB Jaylen Kalu gives his verbal. Kalu from Saint Louis Missouri was the #43 Overall Recruit in his Class, the #4 RB and the #1 player from the state of Missouri.

                        Coach Scott
"Any time you sign a High School Gatorade Player of the Year from any state you are getting a great ball player, and Jaylen is one of those players. There is a reason why he had scholarships from K-State and Oklahoma and why he was being scouted by schools like Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska, and Georgia. We are building a nice young roster of RB's to be ready to take over for Trejo in 2 years and Jaylen could very well give us a solid 3-4 year starter. We also believe he could bring alot of value in the return game next season as well"
One player who hasn't signed yet but will be in attendance for the Week 7 matchup with Colorado is #1 Overall/#1 QB Freddie Vildor from Ontario CA.

Vildor listed at 6'5 196lbs looks like Vince Young /Cam Newton with his ability to make plays with both his arm and his feet.

                        Coach Scott
"We are excited to get Freddie to Lubbock and show him around campus and give him a glimpse of what his next 4 years will be. I know for a fact that right now Colorado is #2 on his list of schools despite CU signing George Irving last year. Coach Prime is a talker and he will say whatever kids want to hear.. It's our goal to go out and put points on the scoreboard and shut him up"

I believe a higher rating means less likely to get injured, but it can still happen. I think it has an effect on wear and tear too if you have that turned on.

We are going to do our best. Kid looks like the real deal. I just go done playing the Colorado game and the results should help with his visit.. With only need to sign 15 guy's I am able to throw max recruiting points at pretty much everyone. Only issue so far I havn't been winning alot of recruiting battles. Michigan just signed both the 5* HB and 5* OLB I wanted..
