      RED RAIDERS HEADED TO NATTY!!

Texas Tech is headed back to the National Championship for a 8th time in 10 seasons with yet another opportunity for back to back wins as they defeat Big 12 rival Oklahoma in a rematch of the Big 12 Championship.

      GAME RECAP

Oklahoma opened up the game with the ball and drove 80 yds for the first score of the game to make it (7-0). Texas Tech would do the same as the 1st Quarter comes to a end (7-7). The 2nd Quarter was almost a exact mirror of the 1st as both teams add another touchdown to go into the locker rooms tied (14-14).

TTU opens up the 2nd half with the ball and is forced to settle for a FG making it (17-14). The Red Raiders Defense comes up big with a INT by John Masifilo (his 8th of the season) but the Offense is unable to put points on the board.

Oklahoma opens up the 4th Quarter with a game tying FG to make it (17-17). Both teams would exchange fumbles through the 4th leaving the game tied (17-17) as we head to Overtime. TTU won the toss and elected to start on Defense and the "D" stepped up as JR CB Deonte Shakir picks off Matthew Eze. Despite needing just a FG to seal the win, Bradley Haywood never got the call, as Holliday takes the snap and runs it in for the score..

      FINAL SCORE TTU-23 OKLAHOMA-17

      KEY PLAYERS

      QB-C. McFadden-23/30 242 yds passing, 28 yds rushing 1 TD
      RB-Rashaad Holliday-16 carries 133 yds 1 TD (Game winner), 3 rec 20 yds
      WRC. Chunn-5 rec 64 yds
      WRD. Erving-5 rec 55 yds
      WR G. Shuler-4 rec 33 yds
      TE T. Tompkins-4 rec 47 yds

NEBRASKA BEATS MICHIGAN TO SETUP BIG 12 NATTY!!

Instead of a rematch of last year's Semi Final and the 2028 National Championship between TTU and Michigan this time for the National Title, fan's will instead get to see TTU take on Big 12 rival Nebraska in a rematch of the 2034 National Championship when TTU beat Nebraska 3 times in the same season.

        TTU WIN'S 8TH NATTY!!!

Nebraska coming off a 56 point outing in their Semi Final win over Michigan scores the first 17 points of the game as the Cornhusker Defense picks off McFadden in between a pair of rushing touchdowns from Hixon and Reeshad to make it (14-0). Then after a force punt Nebraska adds a 36 yd FG to make it (17-0) at the end of the 1st Quarter.

But Texas Tech battles back basically putting up a mirror of the 1st Quarter as McFadden hits Shuler for a TD, then its the Red Raiders Defense picking off Hixon before McFadden finds Chunn for another score to make it (17-14) and then after a forced punt with less the a minute to play in the half, TTU adds a 36 yd FG by Bradley Haywood to make it (17-17) at the half.

TTU opened up the 2nd half with the ball and McFadden quickly breaks the tie as he finds TE Tye Tompkins for a touchdown to make it (24-17).

Nebraska however never got anything going the rest of the game as the Texas Tech "D" goes into lockdown mode holding th Cornhuskers to just 0/4 on 3rd down and 0/2 on 4th Down.

Texas Tech then extended their lead as Rico Hentges adds 2 rushing TD's including a 22 yd run with under 2 minutes to play..

        FINAL SCORE TTU-38 NEBRASKA-17

        KEY PLAYERS

        QB C. McFadden-15/21 169 yds 3 TD 1 INT, 39 yds rushing

          THE END!!

HC RYNE SCOTT RETURNS TO "THE BLUE"

After 10 years posting (146-11) record with (6) Big 12 Championships and (8) National Championships, Coach Ryne Scott has announced he is leaving TTU and return home to Boise State where he will take over HC duties for the Broncos after former HC Spencer Danielson departs for LSU.

          Coach Scott
"The last 10 years have been amazing.. From Year 1 when we shocked the nation and myself with our 1st Natty winning it all as a #9 seed, to winning 5 Straight shattering all previous NCAA history books, to going out with #8 this season. But I have been open and honest with TTU since the beginning. My absolute dream job is being the Head Coach of Boise State. I appreciate Coach D giving me the opportunity back in 2024 to start my career there as the OC and for being allowed to help BSU win it's first ever National Championship. Now it's time to go back and win some more"
DC RYAN MCARDELL DEPARTS FOR BIG 12 RIVAL

After serving as the TTU DC for Coach Scott's 10 year tenure, the former Wyoming HC is going to take a crack at being a Head Coach again as McCardell is announced as the new HC at Nebraska after Coach Fisch announced his departure to the NFL after the Natty loss"

          Coach Scott
"Coach Mac, has been a absolute stud these past 10 years and I know he is going to keep Nebraska in the hunt for Big 12 title and Natty's. The Cornhuskers couldn't have picked a better guy for the job"
          HANDING OFF THE KEYES

With Scott and McCardell departing, TTU will hand over HC duties to OC Stephen Keyes. The former Kentucky HC turned a 1 year stint as TTU's OC into winning the Broyles Award and securing the HC job. Keyes will have his hands full though as he will have to replace 33 players departing from last year's team including 8 players who announced they will join the transfer portal.

          Coach Scott
"I think TTU is making the right move retaining Coach Keyes. To be honest I was a little surprised with how many players are hitting the portal and even more shocked by some of the ones doing it."
MCFADDEN LEADS 8 INTO THE PORTAL

          JR QB C. McFadden (88)
          JR OLB J. Nicholson (88)
          SO OLB K. Euale (87)
          JR DT D. Finger (86)
          FR OLB E. Campanaro (83)
          FR MLB Issac Semple (80)
          FR C Darren McGriff (75)
          FR DE C. Flores (75)

Despite being a 3 year starter and 2 time National Champion, QB Curtis McFadden has turned down the opportunity to head to the NFL and will instead become the #1 target in the Transfer Portal..

          Coach Scott
"Curtis and he has some great NIL deals in place.. The NFL will be there for him next year and he has a pretty good idea of where he would like to play next year. I know early on he had some difficulties with some of the changes Coach Keyes made with the Offense, so I wasn't completely shocked when he told me his decision"
Keyes already has a solid roster of QB's in place to hand the reigns too, but Keyes will have some huge roles to fill at Linebacker as TTU loses 4 to the Portal and all 3 Starters to the Draft.
Coach Scott "I was very surprised by the decisions of all 4 guy's. We had an amazing starting core last year with all 3 getting drafted, so that would've meant all 3 of those 4 guy's would've been starters including Semple who we viewed as a 4 year starter at MLB when we recruited him and redshirted him"
          TTU HAS 18 PLAYERS DRAFTED!!!

14 of TTU's 20 Seniors on this year's roster end up getting picked well the other 6 all will be sure to at least get Free Agent contracts, well TTU also loses 4 early entries including star MLB Jimmy Walker (96)

          JR MLB J. Walker (96) 1st Round
          SO RB R. Hentges (91) 2nd Round
          JR CB C. McLennan (90) 2nd Round
          JR CB A. Stockton (88) 4th Round

          SR DT G. Teamer (89) 3rd Round
          SR LG F. Aaitui (90) 4th Round
          SR DT C. Dalton (92) 1st Round
          SR RG N. Longoria (81) 3rd Round
          SR DE J. Castillo (91) 1st Round
          SR CB J. Masfilo (90) 1st Round
          SR DT E. Turbin (89) 3rd Round
          SR LT K. Sowells (90) 2nd Round
          SR FB D. Chancey (88) 6th Round
          SR C A. Marshall (89) 4th Round
          SR OLB E. Maggio (89) 5th Round
          SR MLB L. Lincoln (88) 6th Round
          SR WR C. Chunn (87) 7th Round
          SR WR G. Shuler (87) 7th Round

With 18 players drafted TTU beats Georgia's record of 15 in 2022 and Ohio State (14-2004) and LSU (14-2020)..

          Coach Scott
"It was a honor to have had the ability to coach this group of players the past 4 years and it's going to be alot of fun watching them play on Sunday"

With the added 13 players that brought BSU's final class # to 22 players (8-4*,13-3*, 1-2*) and a final ranking of #23.

Congrats on another Natty, Deuce. McFadden was really in the zone towards the end of the season and rode it right through Natty for you.

Congrats on the return to Boise and taking over the Broncos as their new HC. Reading those last couple updates, I really thought McFadden would possibly follow you.

I am interested in seeing how this Broncos stint will compare to your previous times being there in your previous dynasties. Looking forward to watching it play out.

Thanks... I am excited. The first 4 years I played nothing but Offense. It was fun, but I am glad to be able to help control the whole game. I got some Star's (George West Heisman Winner) at QB and a solid group of RB's and WR's. I got a couple decent O-Lineman but zero depth. D-Line looks solid as are the safety's but got a couple holes to fill at LB and CB.. Roster has 80 players, I cut like 15 guy's (mostly sub 70 rated guy's) so I will have like 20 scholarships open plus there is probably another 5 or so I will cut that were recruits signed before I took over. So with a 25 man class I feel I should be able to rebuild the roster pretty quick.

The Pac-12 is solid... Last year at one point in the season they had 5 teams ranked in the Top-13. Without divisions now, I will also have a chance to play Washington or Oregon for a Pac-12 title instead of having to beat them every year to win the division and play one of the Cali schools. So I am looking forward to building a heated rivalry with the Ducks and Huskies again.

Did they actually offer you the job in game, or did you have to make another coach to resume the HC duties there after Coach D left.

And lol at him going to LSU in both our dynastys, albeit a loooooong time apart

                        INDEPTH ROSTER BREAKDOWN

                        QB

George West is a 2 year starter who excelled last season winning the Heisman throwing for 4141 yds with 47 TD and just 3 INT well also adding 399 yds rushing with 4 TD's.

Former QB2 Jhurell Merling transitioned to TE this spring after backing up West last season and not throwing a pass. That leaves SR Kona Kramer and SO Wayne Cone as the primary backups this year.

                        RB

SR Leati Hart is listed as RB1, but Hart has just 68 career carries for 285 yds and 2 TD, well JR's Larry Wade (163 carries 546 yds 5 TD) and Anthony Perez (164 carries 621 yds 8 TD) saw the bulk of the action last year.

SO Earl Pitts is moving from HB to FB this season. Pitts recorded 8 carries for 45 yds (5.6 avg) with 3 TD's last season and will be the primary goal line back.

                        WR/TE

DJ Crick is listed as WR1 and was selected as a Pre-Season NCAA and Pac-12 1st Team All-American but he has just 4 career receptions for 25 yds.

SR Maurice Long had 53 rec for 1014 yds and 15 TD back in 2036, but spent most of last year on the IR recording just 16 rec for 225 yds and 1 TD.

JR Larry Silatolu was the Broncos leading receiver last season posting 66 rec for 1146 yds and 19 TD's.

All 3 will be top targets this year, with Long most likely working out of the slot.

Former QB Jhurell Merling takes over as the teams starting TE. Listed at 6'5 210lbs he is basically another WR . When the Broncos need a more traditional TE they will turn to David Stockton who is also 6'5 but 230.. Stockton posted 11 rec for 109 yds and 3 TD last year.

                        0-LINE

LG Carl Huval and RT Keenan Tompkins are both future NFL Draft picks. The Broncos will lean heavy on both as they look to build some depth and lock in their starters.

                        D-LINE

The line has talent but alot of question marks. JR DT Brock Hurley is the leading returner in sacks with 6.5 last season. SR DT Greg Hambrick has just 8.5 over 3 years with a season high 5 in 2036. SR DE Jameson Newson has yet to register a sack and has just 6 Tackles and 2 TFL in 3 seasons.

                        DB'S

Again there is talent in this group but not lots of results thus far. SR FG Sipho Akindele has the most INT's in the group with 4 in his career. SR CB Joe Castonzo has 3.

                        SPECIAL TEAMS

SR PK Ben Centeio was pretty solid last year connecting on 14/16 FG's including a 58 yd long and 59/60 XP, but SO PK Patrick Ybarra had a great spring and is pushing to share some duties. Ybarra has the stronger leg (84 KPW vs 79) and will likely handle kickoff duties and longer FG attempts.

                        ROSTER BREAKDOWN

BSU will go into the Recruiting season with 25 scholarships to offer.

BSU currently has 80 players on the roster (with 14 Seniors, 19 Juniors, 20 Soph's and 27 Freshman (22 Redshirting)

Of the 14 Seniors 7 are on Offense, 6 on Defense and 1 PK

That's awesome you got the offer! I've yet to get anything better than DC/OC at schools who I've been beating reguarly lol

The coaching hires always kind of puzzle me. It must REALLY weigh conference prestige heavily, cause plenty of times I've seen the same situation where a coach leaves a great "mid" schools for a SEC team struggling.

                            TIGERS SPOIL SCOTT'S HOMECOMING!!

The Clemson Tigers spoiled the homecoming of Coach Ryne Scott starting out the legendary coach with a 0-1 record as the Head Coach on "The Blue"

Boise State jumped out to a early (7-0) lead as George West and Larry Silatolu start off where they left off after the duo combined for 19 TD's last year with a 23 yd TD pass and catch.

Clemson however would tie the game just before the half (7-7) as SR QB Rashuan Burfict (82) hits JR WR Jeremy Thompson (81) with a 25 yd score.

Clemson would open up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly take the lead after a 9 play drive that ends with a 5 yd TD receptio by SO WR Cornell Boss to make it (14-7). A West INT would kill one Bronco scoring drive in the 3rd and BSU would have to settle for a 33 yd FG on the other making it (14-10) as we head to the 4th.

Boise State would take the lead midway through the 4th as Leati Hart breaks his longest run of the day with a 5 yd plunge to make it (17-14) but with 48 seconds to play in the game Clemson already 0/2 on FG attempts on the day nails a 30 yd FG to tie the game (17-17) and force OT.

Clemson won the toss and elects to start on Defense and the Tigers come up with a stop forcing BSU to settle for a FG to make it (20-17)..

Despite being limited to just 62 yds rushing on the day, Clemson stuck with it was they pick up 20 yds on the final drive including a 12 yd keeper by Burfict as he scrambles in for the game winning touchdown.

The coaching hires always kind of puzzle me. It must REALLY weigh conference prestige heavily, cause plenty of times I've seen the same situation where a coach leaves a great "mid" schools for a SEC team struggling.
The Coaching career (hire/fire) and when it's done and how its done really bothers me. I also don't like the fact that all I have to pick from when hiring my coordinators is typically a C- 19-21 level coordinator who was either fired from their previous job or sometimes a HC who was fired who also is like low 20's in level.

At TTU when I was winning National Championships I should've been able to hire pretty much any OC in the country and I should've been able to go after some lower level HC even..

The other thing I don't really like is the fact there were 8 TTU players who entered the portal yet not a single one wanted to follow Coach Scott to Boise State, even though BSU has like 20 players from Texas on their roster.

I get why McFadden wouldn't want to come because BSU has West who was coming off winning the Heisman at QB but LSU has a 94 Overall QB too and he is not even listed as the starter at LSU. He pretty much could've gone to any school but like 4 and been the highest rated player on the team. So now instead he will finish out his career on the bench as QB2.

LATE FG PROPELLS BRONCOS TO VICTORY!!

Boise State picked up a much need victory on the road in Week 2 but it was a close one.

Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter and both teams settled for early FG's in the 2nd to make it (3-3) but BSU would take the lead just before the half (10-3) as West throws the first of 3 TD's to SR Wideout Maurice Long.

West and Long would hookup a 2nd time to open up the 3rd Quarter scoring as BSU extends their lead to (17-3) and the duo make it a Hat Trick as the 3rd Quarter comes to a end with TD #3 making it (24-3) entering the 4th.

TCU would rally though scoring 21 unanswered as TCU Defense picks off West, and the Horn Frog's rushing attack scores on a 53 yd run by JR Wayne Guzman (83) and a 28 yd run by SO Maurice Onyemata (84). TCU got their 3rd TD on a 16 yd TD pass from Roche to Guzman to make it (24-24) with less then 3 minutes to play.

Boise State not wanting to give TCU the ball back goes to the ground game as Hart carries the ball 6 times on the final drive of the day before setting up Patrick Ybarra for the game winner...
