I think Wire is going to be okay. 1 of the 2 INT's was all my fault trying to throw into double coverage on a deep ball to Cheek. Neither guy moves well (they both have 76 speed), so that could be a issue. But yeah neither one showed me that yeah that's the guy I want to play with for the next 4 years.

Problem is there is only 2 5* QB's in this class. One from Alabama and 1 from New Jersey and neither were even a option to try and recruit.

I do have (2) 4* both from Florida that I am recruiting. 1 is a scrambler with 84 speed well the other is a Field General with 84 speed and is a Green Gem, so he is the guy I am hoping to land.

After giving up 69 points in their loss to Florida State last year, all eyes were on the Panther Defense tonight and they delivered giving up just 1 touchdown until the final minutes of the game, as FIU get's its revenge picking up a big road win in the process.

      GAME RECAP

FIU won the toss and elected to kick as Florida State comes out and uses a 9 play drive including a 30 yd TD run by SR RB Jamerson Riggins (80) to take the early (7-0) lead.

The Panthers would respond though with a huge play as QB Clayton Dees throws a 58 yd bomb to Enrique Cortez to tie the game (7-7). The FIU Panther Defense then comes up with the only turnover on the day as SR MLB Jamerson bail comes up with the Forced Fumble and recovery helping to set up a Tavon Logan rushing touchdown as FIU takes the (14-7) lead.

Neither team would do much the rest of the 1st half as both teams settled for a Field Goal each leaving it (17-10) as we head to the locker room.

FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball, and Tavon Logan went right back to work as the Wolverine slashed through the Seminole Defense for his 2nd rushing TD of the day as he breaks a 30 yd run showing off his elite speed (96) despite his 5'10 231lb frame.

      OC TY Hilton
"I got to say Logan is a Beast.. This kid reminds me alot of "Edgerin James" and a little of another former Colt 1st Round pick Donald Brown out of UConn... I get excited every time he touches the ball"
Leading (24-10), the Panther Defense comes up with another huge stop as FSU QB Trevor Jackson (84) fails to pick up the 1st down as FIU turns the ball over on downs.

Dees and the Panther offense waste little time expanding their lead as Dees hits Cortez for another huge play (42 yds) and a score to extend the lead to (31-10) as we head to the 4th.

FIU would continue to use the ground game as they looked to balance out the TOP on the day in the 4th as Dees shows off his ability to extend drives with his feet. With under 4 minutes to play FIU would add a 36 yd FG by Glennon to extend the lead to (34-10), but the Seminoles never stopped trying and with under a minute to play FSU would tack on a late touchdown as backup RB JR Kevn Gallegos scores on a 8 yd run making it (34-17).

FSU QB Trever Jackson finished the day 22/39 (56%) for 257 yds and the Fumble. He was sacked 3 times.

It wasn't pretty but Florida International overcame turnovers to defeat Liberty in their CUSA season opener to move to 3-0 as FIU looks to defend their National Title with a potential 3rd straight trip to the College Football Playoffs.

        Coach Miller
"I tell the guy's. We never look ahead. We take every game Week to Week. Our motto is "Always win the next one" If we do that then we will put ourselves in the spots we want to be. Wins against FAU, Wins on Senior Day, winning CUSA, those are all goals that get accomplished when we don't look ahead and just take it 1 week at a time"
        GAME RECAP

Early turnovers led to Liberty taking a (7-0) lead as JR RB Kahil Williams (81) caps off a 11 play drive for the Flames with a 9 yd TD run, but the Panthers Defense continued to stop the Flames Offense forcing early punts giving the FIU Offense a chance to find its groove.

        Coach Miller
"We are still adjusting to our new offense and with that some of our explosive plays are missing. We have a "Bye" Week coming up and will be exploring with adding some plays we feel are missing and probably taking out some that just are not working. It's our goal to keep the playbook around 200.. We just don't see any reason for 300-500 plays, when in reality we probably call 40-50 plays in any given game"
The FIU Panthers got things going in the 2nd Quarter as they score 21 unanswered points to take a (21-7) lead into the half.

Clayton Dees dials up the same passing play that Tavon Logan took 77 yds for a score for a score in Week 0 vs Montana State and the Redshirt Freshman delivered again this time with a 57 yd reception that he took to the house to tie the game (7-7). Logan gave FIU the lead with a 21 yd TD run midway through the 2nd Quarter and then with less then a minute to play in the half, it was SR FB Antonio Ferguson taking a Veer Triple Option handoff 52 yds to the house for his longest run of his career..

        TY Hilton
"Fergy is a big dude at 6'3 225 lbs, but he can move (79 speed), and I got to be honest, there is no better play in football then watching a big dude taking it to the house"
FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball but was forced to settle for a 44 yd FG by Issac Glennon. Glennon would get another chance at hitting from 50+ late in the 3rd Quarter with a 54 yd attempt but the kick was wide left, as he goes 1/2 on the day.

For Clayton Dees it was a day he will like to soon forget, as he charged with a Fumble well attempting a forward pass. The Panthers tried challenging the play but the Zebra's didn't see it Coach Miller's way.

Still leading (24-7), the Panthers Defense continued to play a great game as SS Jayden Williams comes up with a INT and the Panther D holds Liberty scoreless in the 2nd half well creating 4 turnover on downs in the 4th Quarter as Liberty finishes the day just 1/6 on 4th down plays

Despite leading by 17, FIU continued to run their offense until the final seconds as backup RB Titus Tompkins gets his first rushing TD of the season on a 3 yd dive with 18 seconds to play.

Liberty SR QB Jayden Bradford (78) would finish the game 26/42 (61%) for 267 with the 1 INT. Despite being sacked 6 times, Bradford still managed to scramble for positive yards finishing the game with 19 carries for 24 yds

        KEY PANTHERS

        QB C. Dees 14/33 (42%) 299 yds 1 TD 2 INT, sacked 5 times, 1 Fumble

PANTHERS WIN THE SHULA FOR 3RD STRAIGHT YEAR!!!

FAU might have dominated the Shula Bowl in the past winning 18 of the previous 21 matchups before Coach Miller arrived at FIU, but the Panthers have now won 3 straight as FIU moves to 4-0 on the season well handing the Owls their first loss of the year. (2-1).

          GAME RECAP

FIU dominated the game on both sides of the ball as FAU manages just 3 points despite gaining 303 yds of Offense on the day.

The Owls saw a healthy dose of Redshirt Freshman Tavon Logan as the "Wolverine" makes his case for a potential Heisman race with another 100 yd performance on the ground as FIU rolls out 265 yds and 4 scores on the ground.

With the ground game pounding the Defense, it also opened up alot of passing lanes as SR QB Clayton Dees has a solid day passing the ball for 292 yds and 2 TD's including a 55 yd bomb to Tyler Cisco. Dees only mistake of the day was a late 3rd Quarter INT with FIU up 24-3.

Dees would add his 2nd TD of the day early in the 4th Quarter hitting RS FR Ryan Kunaszyk (21 yds) before leaving the game allowing RS JR Victor Ojukwu a chance to see his first action as a Panther.

Ojukwu would complete 2/3 for 23 yds including a 19 yd pass to 3rd string TE John Virgin who makes his first career catch.

With Logan on the sidelines for most of the 4th Quarter, Panther fans got a chance to see RS SO Titus Tompkins get some extended carries as he finishes the game with a career high 15 for 75 yds including a 11 yd TD run.

FIU would add on a late 4th Quarter FG to close out the game.

It was a Tale of 2 Halves for the Panthers. FIU dominated the first half taking a (37-7) lead but a pair of turnovers and some sloppy play on both sides of the ball saw the Monarchs mount a huge 2nd half comeback.

                GAME RECAP

FIU probably couldn't have played a better 1st Quarter as RS FR Tavon "Wolverine" Logan was unstoppable scoring twice and rushing over 100 yds after breaking a career long 72 yd run to the house. Leading 14-0, QB Clayton Dees extend it to (20-0) hitting TE Dominik Naanee on a 14 yd strike but a missed PAT by Glennon would leave it (20-0) as we head to the 2nd Quarter.

ODU opened up the 2nd Quarter with a score as JR QB Manu Mendoza (77) throws the first of 5 TD's on the day hitting JR WR Kyle Wozniak (72) on a 22 yd strike to make it (20-7), but FIU answers back with another score of their own as Dees finds Enrique Cortez on a 48 yd bomb to make it (27-7). Mendoza would then throw a INT leading to a 48 yd FG by Issac Glennon as FIU extends their lead to (30-7). After a touchback, ODU would start from the 20 but Mendoza trying to make something happen would take a huge sack losing 10 yds. Now facing a 2nd and 20 from the 10, the Panthers would bring the house and Mendoza went down again coughing up the ball as MLB Jamerson Bail makes the hit, and RS FR Carlso Darby jumps on the loose ball for a Defensive touchdown as FIU goes into the locker room up (37-7).

FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball, but a Clayton Dees INT gives the Monarchs solid field position as Mendoza throws TD #2 to cut the lead to (37-14).

Still (37-14) as we head into the 4th Quarter, FIU's offense continued to struggle in the 2nd half as FIU turns the ball over on downs after failing to convert a 4th and 2 run. Mendoza would then find SR Na'Eem Gladding (76) for the first of his 2 TD's on the day as he hauls in a 53 yd bomb to make it (37-21). Then it was Dees throwing his 2nd INT of the day as SR SS Jerome Carter (82) comes up with the pass, and Mendoza went right back to work hitting Gladding for TD #2 to make it (37-28). FIU looking to slow things down go back to the ground game as Logan continues to pickup 3 to 4 yds everytime he touched the ball but a big stop on a 3rd and 6 would leave Coach Miller with a decision as he brings out Issac Glennon for a 51 yd FG attempt Glennon delivers drilling the kick just inside the right upright with plenty of leg to make it (40-28) with 4:48 to play.

Down 12 and facing a huge 4th and 18, Mendoza escapes the rush and hits SR WR Timmy Montgomery (71) on a 44 yd bomb as ODU pulls within 5 with 4:12 still to play (40-35).

Expecting a onside kick attempt, FIU brings out the hands team, but the Monarchs kick deep as the ball bounces into the endzone for a touchback.

Looking to take as much time off the clock as the could FIU would stick with a ground game that arleady had 200 yds on the day but once again the Monarch D was ready as they again force Coach Miller to make a huge call as he brings out Glennon for his 3rd FG of the da this time from 55 yds out. Glennon who had already hit from 48 and 51 earlier in the game makes it 3 for 3 on the day as he extends the lead to a full 8 points (43-35).

Out of timeouts with 1:05 to play Mendoza goes to the air but the Panther D this time is ready as they go into a Dime package looking to not give up the big play it was SR SS Sadonnie Gay coming up with the game sealing INT..

                Mendoza finished the day 18/38 (47%) 339 yds 5 TD 2 INT, sacked 3 times, 1 Fumble

Yeah Old Dominion was crazy.. First half they couldn't stop my run then all of a a sudden the 2nd half, I anytime I tried to run a sweep or stretch run, I would get called for a hold or a block in the back. Setting up so many 2nd and 3rd and long's and I ended up with 6 drops that were all drive killers. So far I am happy with the results of my games, I just wish there wasn't so many upsets in the sim engine. I just posted the Top-25 and it's crazy how many Non-Power 4 teams are in this year and honestly even though I am 6-0 and the Defending Champs I still don't think my schedule this season warrants be ranked #4.

Did you abandon rotating the QB's before officially redshirting them, Deuce? Or did my slow *** just not pay attention? And yes, you can call me slow. [emoji23] Sucks getting old.

You didn't miss it. I basically got 4 games (3 left) I can play them in but honestly I havn't felt I have had a game were I could afford to put them in. I thought being up (37-7) at the half against ODU, I was like okay if I score and make it (44-7), I will put in one of them to finish out the game, but then they scored and scored again and all of a sudden it was (37-21), and I was like nope I will wait.

I would think at some point we will have a game that will be a blowout but it just hasn't happened. I just finished up the James Madison game and it didn't happen there as the Dukes almost end my perfect season..

So don't fell bad your not that old yet.

PANTHERS LAND FIRST 3 COMMITTMENTS FOR 2028

Coach Miller and the FIU Panthers have secured their first 3 verbal's for the 2028 class well also losing 3 top prospects of their Top-25 board in the process.

4* QB Greg McRae (#285 Overall/#31 FL/#23 QB) from Ponte Vedra Beach FL was the first to sign. McRae, held scholarships offers to both Florida and Miami as well but after a Week 4 visit to FIU, the Panthers got their QB for the 2028 class.

                            Coach Miller
"There is a small chance that we could still entertain another QB in this class but as of now we are really happy going forward. McRae has all the tools to be a QB that could play at the next level. Despite being 6'5 227lbs, he actually runs really well (84 speed) and he has a great arm. We believe he could come in and push Wire and Verrett for the staring job next year"
Whoever is throwing the ball next year and future years will enjoy the next 2 signings.

4* Center Quincy Stokes (#38 Overall/#6 FL/#1 C) from Fort Lauderdale FL wasn't only one of the best players in the state of Florida, but the is considered the best Center available in this year's class in the entire nation. Listed at 6'3 308lbs, Stokes will be a impact player on the line.

Well the Panther WR room is loaded with talent (10) current players. You can never pass up a talented player and 4* WR Steve Trapasso (#262 Overall/#27 FL/#37) from Miami FL is that. Listed at 6'4 199 lbs, Trapasso has a very similar build and skill set of current Panthers Faitele Okwara and Ryan Kunaszyk.

Well landing Trapasso might be considered a luxury, the player that Coach Miller and Hilton really wanted was 5'7 Dillon Yancey from Clewiston FL. A 5* Rated #13 Overall/#3 FL/#4 WR, actually had the Panthers listed as his #3 school to start the year, but after a Week 4 visit actually move the Panthers to #1 before finally signing with Miami this past week.

Joining Yancey as a Hurricane will be 4* RB Jim Brown (#72 Overall/#10 FL/#6 RB) from Saint Petersburg. Like WR, the Panthers current RB room is pretty crowded but it's tough to turn away talent like Brown's Like Yancey he visited FIU in Week 4 and like Yancey had moved FIU to the top of his choices of schools but a Week 8 visit and scholarship to Miami changed all that.

Well losing Yancey and Brown hurt the last trio of denials hurts the most as 4* CB Kevynn Ramsey (#143 Overall/#18 FL/#12 CB) from Tampa, has declared he is going to be a Gator next season. Like the other 2, Ramsey took a Week 6 visit to FIU and had moved the Panther into the #1 spot but scheduled a Week 9 to Gainesville and then decided to declare early ending the Panthers chances.

James Madison came into the game already with 2 upset wins on the season beating Boise State and then beating UNC and they almost made it #3.

                              GAME RECAP

James Madison won the toss and the elected to kick and FIU responded with a 2 play drive as Clayton Dees hits SO WR Brian Cheek on a 44 yd TD pass putting the Panthers on the scoreboard (7-0).

The Dukes showcased a pass happy offense early but facing a 3rd and 2, JMU tried to pick up the 1st Down on the ground and the FIU Defense was ready holding the Dukes to a 1 yd gain as James Madison settles for a FG to make it (7-3).

Both teams struggle through the day with turnovers as Clayton Dees throws 2 INT's and is credited with 2 Fumbles as well, but every time FIU would turn the ball over JMU SR QB Larry Colon (79) would do the same.

The 2nd Quarter saw both QB's throw a pair of INT's but both threw TD's as well as Dees finds RB Tavon Logan out of the backfield for a 12 yd score to make it (14-3) before Colon hits JR Leslie Kennedy (75) on a 81 yd gain (14-10) at the half.

JMU started the 2nd half with the ball and would take the lead for the first time as Colon leads a 8 play drive ending with a 38 yd TD pass to JR WR David Owusu (71) as the Dukes take the lead (17-14).

FIU had some excitement on the kickoff as SO RB Titus Tompkins takes the kick out of the endzone looking to break a 100+ yd return but he is called out a the 50 as he is officially given a 54 yd return. Dees almost blew the great return with a fumble, but JMU coughed the ball right back up which led to a Glennon 28 yd FG as the Panthers tie the game (17-17).

With Dees struggling FIU goes to the ground game as the combo of Logan and Tompkins carries the ball 13 times for 80 yds as FIU takes the lead on a Tompkins 3 yd run (24-17). Then after Colon's 3rd INT of the day, as SS Jayden Williams comes up with the INT, it was Logans turn as he takes a 41 yd run to the house to make it (31-17). But the Dukes were not done, as Colon shakes off the INT's to lead JMU on a 7 play drive ending with a 16 yd TD strike to SO TE Tre Fogg. The Dukes would leave the offense on the field and convert the 2pt play to make it (31-25). Down by 6, most assumed that JMU would attempt the onside kick but they kick deep hoping the Defense could come up with a big play and they do as they force the Panthers to Punt with 1:58 to play. JMU drives the field again as Colon leads the Dukes down inside the 10 yd line with 40 seconds to play, but this time it was the Panther D coming up with a huge stop as they force a 4th and goal, Colon scrambles and runs out of bounds as the Dukes turn the ball over on downs with 18 seconds to play.

FIU could've just downed the ball, but instead they hand off to Logan who goes 41 yds before being tackled from behind with 2 seconds to play. Again Dees could've just took a knee, but instead Dees takes the snap and toss's the ball to Tompkins who goes 52 yds to the house for the another score..

Colon ends the game going 29/49 (59%) 340 yds 3 TD 3 INT, sacked 3 times 1 fumble.

FIU fell short in their the quest for Win #8 on the season as their perfect season comes to a end with the Charlotte 49er's coming up with the huge upset win at home.

The loss hit the Panther hard in the Rankings as they drop from #4 to #18 leaving many to question whether or not they will get a shot at making a 3rd trip to the playoffs and a chance to repeat their quest for another National Title.

                                GAME RECAP

FIU won the toss and elected to kick and Charlotte wasted no time putting points on the scoreboard as SR Deshawn Purdie (83) hits FR WR Rayshon Doucet (81) on a 50 yd TD score to make it (7-0).

Clayton Dees would lead the Panthers out for their first drive of the game looking to tie the game up Dees goes deep for Brian Cheek by JR CB Doug Duff (79) makes a great play in the single coverage picking off the pass.

Charlotte looking to make a statement uses 8 plays capped off by a Rod Gainey Jr (91) 7 yd touchdown run to extend their lead to (14-0) in the 1st Quarter.

FIU would rally back as the Panthers score 3 straight. First Titus Tompkins adds TD #1 with a 8 yd TD run to make it (14-7). Then it was SR CB James Chenault taking a INT and turning it into a "Pick 6" as he takes the return 25y yds to the house to tie the game (14-14) The Panthers then took the lead as SO OLB Sam Truong forces a fumble and scoops it up returning it for TD #3.

Charlotte after back to back turnovers manage to stop the bleeding as Gainey leads the charge with his 2nd TD of the day to tie the game (21-21) at the half.

Charlotte opened up the 2nd half with a huge play as Purdie connects with SR WR Brady Kluse (77) on a 64 yd bomb to give the 49er's the lead yet again, but FIU answers the calls as Tavon Logan carries the ball 9 times for 66 yds including a 14 yd TD run to tie the game (21-21).

FIU would take the lead (24-21) early in the 4th as Issac Glennon connects on the a 38 yd FG but Charlotte responds with a 51 yd FG of their own to make it (31-31) with 6:41 to play in the game.

FIU needing a big play just never got one as Clayton Dees was off target all game throwing for a career low 138 yds, the Panthers were forced to settle for a FG making it (34-31) with 3:41 to play.

After 2 huge Defensive plays in the 2nd Quarter, the Panthers needed another one but they never got it as Purdie drives the 49er's down the field throwing his 3rd TD of the day hitting SR TE Trey Statton (78) on a 14 yd strike to give Charlotte the (38-34) lead with 1:41 to play.

Still armed with 2 timeouts, the Panthers took the field needing to go 80 yds for the score as a FG would do them no good, but Dees struggles continued as he overthrows Cisco on what could've been a huge 40+ yd gain and then when facing a 4th and 18, Dees pass intended for TE Dominick Naaneee goes in and out of the hands of the big TE as FIU turns the ball over on downs.

Charlotte would just kneel out the remainder of the clock as FIU heads to the locker room still wondering what just happened.
