Pitbull better have the checkbook opened and ready to go for the NIL deals.

Thanks.. I already commented on it, but honestly I didn't really think my team was worthy of a chance at a National Title Repeat. But I am excited for the future. The ACC should make it a challenge every week (not that CUSA wasn't) but I am really excited about getting a rivalry going with Miami..

So Fair is a solid pickup. He is built very much like Logan and will probably take over some goal line duties hopefully keeping Logan healthy. He was solid for Duke last year with 803 yds and 3 TD.

Moehrig comes in as my 2nd best Defensive player behind Stewart my MLB who almost went Pro. Stewart is a 93 now with training and Moehrig is a 88. He had a decent career at Miami with 19 TFL and 14.5 sacks over 3 seasons including 9 and 6.5 last year.

The ACC is already paying off in terms of recruiting. I have multiple 5* interested and alot of guy's outside Florida now. There is (7) 5* QB's in this year's class and I am going after 2 of them. 1 from North Carolina and the other from Washington. I am hoping I can land 1 of them.

I have 16 Seniors and actually have 7 open roster spots I didn't fill last year, so I have 23 scholarships available plus a solid chance that Cheek and Stewart could go Pro as well as Logan/Tompkins so I feel pretty good about offering 25 scholarships... My ideal class would be like 3-5*,15-4* and 7-3* my actual recruiting board actually doesn't even have a 3* on it. I have (5)-5* and (30)-4* so I am swinging big for a Top-5 class.

      2029 TOP-25 PRE-SEASON POLL

      (Overall/Offense/Defense)

      #1 Penn State (88/87/89)
      #2 Notre Dame (91/91/91)
      #3 TAMU (90/89/91)
      #4 Georgia (92/92/92)
      #5 LSU (90/90/91)
      #6 FIU (89/90/89)

      #9 Kansas State (87/86/89)
      #10 Wisconsin (85/85/86)

      #12 Tennessee (88/90/87)
      #13 Auburn (89/89/90)
      #14 Ole Miss (89/89/90)
      #15 NC State (85/84/86)
      #16 Tulsa (81/80/82)
      #17 Rutgers (80/80/81)

      #23 SMU (85/85/86)
      #24 North Carolina (87/85/89)
      #25 Oregon (90/89/91)

I didn't expect FIU to start this high in the poll's, so I am excited.. It's going to be interesting to see now Notre Dame and Cincinnati do in the Big Ten. I don't think we are going to see the Irish or Bearcats going undefeated anymore.

Also excited to see Liberty start in the Top-25 and Tulsa. I am hoping Tulsa can hang in the Big 12..

Zero teams in from the Pac-12.. BSU is a 87 Overall so I think at some point they might move in if they can avoid the upsets.

Also looking forward to seeing who emerges in CUSA. Kentucky at 86 Overall is the best team well everyone else is 80-82.

you must have posted the conference realignment while I was typing my post lol

a rivalry with Miami is going to be electric. Scheduling recruits to visit during the game when both of you are battling it out for them is going to be a blast.

I was playing the Toledo game in my Savage one and was thinking "well if I lose its not the worst thing, they are ranked" then remembered I had my top 4 targets all visiting and knew I had to get the dub. Just adds that extra juice

          2029 FIU MEDIA GUIDE

          THE SCHEDULE

          Week 1 @ Florida
          Week 2 @ Liberty
Week 3 vs FAU "Shula Bowl"
          Week 4 "Bye"
          Week 5 vs East Carolina
          Week 6 @ Wake Forest
          Week 7 vs #24 UNC
          Week 8 @ Georgia Tech
          Week 9 @ Virginia
Week 10 vs #18 West Virginia
          Week 11 @ Maryland
          Week 12 vs Virginia Tech
Week 13 vs Miami "The Miami Showdown/Senior Night"

Overall I couldn't be more happy with the schedule. We start with a hard matchup taking on the Gators for our first meeting in Gainesville, then get to play our next 3 games against familiar opponents in Liberty FAU and ECU.. Also love the fact the CPU scheduled Miami for Week 13 as a Rivalry game.

This year's roster features 78 players (16 Seniors, 15 Juniors, 13 Soph's and a combined 34 Redshirt and True Freshman)

Of the roster 62 players hail from the State of Florida and 18 players are local Miami kids.

          QB

RS FR Zach Wire had the best spring and will start Week 1 against the Gators, but look for Coach Miller to get Senior Victor Ojukwu in the mix as well. Ojukwu looked solid in relief last season throwing for 617 yds with 5 TD's well completing 67% of his pass's.

          RB

RS SO Tavon Logan was named the Doak Walker Award winner after leading the nation with 1522 yds on 260 carries (5.9 avg) well scoring 17 TD's. He also showed his ability to help in the passing game with 32 rec for 394 yds and 3 scores.

RS JR Titus Tompkins is a solid #2. Tompkins rushed for 539 yds on 113 carries (4.8 avg) and had 11 TD's last season as the duo combined for over 2000 yds and 28 scores.

Duke Transfer Nick Fair comes to FIU having rushed for 803 yds and 3 TD for the Blue Devils last year.

Former 4* Shawn Boyce originally planned to redshirt last season but was pulled off his redshirt after Logan went down before the playoffs. Boyce will look to redshirt his year and hopes of carving out a bigger role in 2030.

Former 3* Athlete Major Benshaw is still here. Benshaw was rumored to be thinking about the transfer portal, but he stuck around despite being listed as the #4 RB. He will continue his role however as one of the primary kick returners on Special teams.

          WR

After posting 80 rec for 1519 yds and 14 TD's as a RS FR transferring over from Alabama, RS JR Brian Cheek saw his # drop last season to 57 rec 820 yds and 4 TD. He thought about the NFL draft, but instead returns as he looks to improve his draft stock with another 1000 yd season.

RS JR Tyler Cisco had a breakout year. After catching 7 ball for 95 yds and 3 TD as a RS FR, Cisco led the team in receptions last year with 54 for 853 yds and 5 TD's.

Like Cheek RS SR Enrique Cortez saw his #'s drop with spotty play at QB, going from 62 rec 1126 yds 12 TD in 2027 to 43 rec 730 yds and 8 TD last season.

RS SR Faitele Okwara was the only one to have a better year last year then the prevous. Okwara had a career high 26 rec for 484 yds and matched his 2025 TD's with 4

RS SO Ryan Kunaszyk had just 9 rec for 188 yds last year but led the team in avg (20.9) well adding 2 scores. He will be the team's #5 WR again.

RS FR Kris Newkirk redshirted last season and didn't record a catch, but he did manage to return 4 kicks for 81 yds (20.3) and 13 Punts for 164 yds (12.6). He will return to that role this year as the team's primary return man on both, well serving as the teams #6 WR.

          TE

SR Dominick Naanee set school records in 2026 with 86 rec for 1600 yds and 14 TD. Then in 2027 he followed it up with 68 rec for 907 yds and 4 scores, then saw his # called even less last year finishing with a career low 19 rec for 277 yds and 3 TD.

Fellow SR Jose Malik was the opposite. After just 7 rec for 100 yds and 1 TD in 2026/2027. Malik saw his # called more often as he finished with 18 rec for 189 yds and 2 TD last year.

          O-LINE

The Panthers will have 2 new starters on the O-Line that features 4 Seniors in the starting lineup and a Senior as the key reserve..

          D-Line

RS SO's John Dinapoli and Cortez Darby will look to rotate in on 1 side of the D-Line. Both players finished with 6 sacks each as backups. Miami Hurricane transfer Klay Moehrig takes over for David Nwudke who led the team with a school record 13.5 sacks. RS JR BJ Faust returns at DT. He had 6.5 sacks last year with 9 TFL

          LINEBACKERS

RS JR Tevaugh Stewart decided to pass on the NFL Draft and returns for his 3rd straight year as a Panther Team Captain on the Defense. After posting 101 tackles with 7 TFL and 4.5 sacks as a Freshman he followed it up with a team high 83 tackles with 4 TFL and 5 Sacks last year. He also had 2 INT's.

RS FR Alex Wooleyhand had a excellent Spring game and has propelled himself into a starting role for now but the OLB group is loaded with talent and we could see several guy's rotating in and out of the starting lineup all season.

          DB'S

We get 2 new starters at CB this year. Former 3* Athlete Garrison Falah redshirted as a WR last year, but moves to Defense this year and after a huge spring game (went from 65 to a 84) he is the team's new #1 CB. RS JR Joey Cordero and SR Brian Wall will probably rotate as CB #2. The Panthers have a trio of RS Freshman who will also look to figure their spot on the depth chart.

RS JR TJ Everett returns as the teams starting FS. He posted 56 tackles last year and had 7 PD's and 1 INT.

Former 4* Anthony Cookus takes over as the primary backup at FS and will be in the mix as the teams Dime back.

RS JR Oscar Beal takes over as the teams starting SS. Beal had a great year last year as the teams Nickle/Dime back posting 74 Tackles and had a 5 INT and 10 PD's .

Former 3* Athlete Tim Pinner like Falah redshirted last year as a WR but moves to SS this year as the primary backup.

          SPECIAL TEAMS

Issac Glennon and Lamont Myers are gone, as the Panthers will have a new kicking duo. Taj Dozier redshirted last year and will be the primary PK and handle Kickoffs well True Freshman Raymond Nava takes over Punting duties.

            GAME RECAP

Tavon "Wolverine" Logan left little doubt he is the "Best RB" in then nation as he makes his return to the field after breaking his Collarbone in the CUSA Championship game last season as rallies the Panthers behind a pair of late 4th Quarter touchdowns to lead FIU to a Week 1 season opening win.

Florida jumped out to a early (10-0) lead but the Panthers battled back to tie the game (10-10). Logan then gave the Panthers the lead late in the 2nd Quarter with his 2nd TD of the day to make it (17-10) before Florida tied the game yet again (17-17) with just 42 seconds to play in the half.

42 seconds was plenty of time for RS FR Kris Newkirk who showcased blazing speed last season before redshirting, Newkirk would take the kickoff 95 yds to the house to give FIU the (24-17) lead at the half.

FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball but had to settle for a Taj Dozier FG, the only points score in the 3rd Quarter as we head to the 4th with FIU up (27-17). The Panthers would extend their lead to (30-17) as Dozier kicks his 3rd FG of the game, but the Gators answer back with a 9 play scoring drive to cut the lead to (30-24).

That's when Logan took over as he breaks a 67 yd run for his 3rd score of the game to extend the lead to (36-24). The Panthers would try for the 2pt play to make it a 2 score lead, but Wire's pass was off target hitting Dominick Naanee in the feet.

Wire had struggled all day completing just 6 pass's on 19 attempts for 93 yds throwing 2 INT including a 8 yd pass intended for Brian Cheek in the endzone.

Florida who had been turnover free, until this point ends up throwing a INT with less then 2 minutes to play as the Gators were facing a 4th and 16. FIU could've just ran out the clock, but instead Logan takes the handoff and goes up the middle for his 4th TD of the day.

Logan wasn't the only Panther who looked amazing running the ball though. FIU fans got a chance to see a healthy dose of Duke Transfer Nick Fair who finishes with 14 carries for 71 yds as the Panthers finish the day with 377 yds on the ground.

            UP NEXT

FIU will continue their 2 game road trip as they travel North to take on (0-1) Liberty. The Flames started the year in the Top-25 Pre-season Poll but a Week 1 loss to Virginia Tech (35-10) drops them out, as they look to rebound against their former CUSA rival.

Liberty struggled all day to contain the Panther pass rush giving up 6 sacks to FIU as SR QB Ramon Burton found himself on the ground plenty as FIU takes a pretty commanding (27-3) lead the half behind a trio of Logan scores.

FIU QB RS SO Zach Wire continued to struggle as he QB throws his 3rd INT of the season. But Wire would bounce back in the 3rd Quarter with a pair of TD's including a 16 yd pass to Logan for his 4th score of the day.

Logan would add TD #5 late in the 3rd Quarter, as FIU fans got a chance to see alot of the 2nd string unit in the 4th Quarter leading (48-3).

SR QB Victor Ojykwu would only throw 4 pass's in the 4th and it wasn't pretty as he is picked off setting up the Flames first touchdown of the game (48-10) but FIU would respond with a 66 yd TD run by Titus Tompkins to extend it back to (55-10) before Liberty would tack on a late score against the 2nd string D.

Burton finished the game 25/38 (65%) for 252 yds with 2 TD and 1 INT

                GAME RECAP

FIU jumped out to a pretty commanding (28-7) lead in the 1st Quarter as the Owls only points come on a "Pick 6" INT by Z. Wire, but give FAU credit they never stopped battling.

It was a quite day for Travon "Wolverine" Logan.. The Redshirt Sophomore had 9 TD's in the Panthers first 2 wins to open the year but found the endzone just 1 time today well still finishing with a team high 154 yds on 26 carries.

It was another mix review for QB Zach Wire.. At times he looked like h could be the Panthers future as he throws for 284 yds with 3 TD including a 60 yd bomb to Brian Cheek who ran by the defender to be left wide open. Other times Wire looked reckless and not in control as he throws 3 more INT"s on the day including the Pick 6.

FAU got the score down to just a 6 point lead late in the game with under 2 minutes to play and made a interesting call to not try for the onside kick. FIU leading by 6 took no chances as the Owls saw a healthy dose of Logan and Fair to finish out the game with Logan setting up a game sealing 42 yd FG by Taj Dozier.

Dozier a RS Freshman is perfect on the season hitting 7/7 FG's including a 51 yd long well also going a perfect 17/17 on XPT's.

Coach Matt Miller is now a perfect 5-0 against FAU in Shula Bowls as his impressive resume continues to build.

                  GAME RECAP

The FIU Panthers dominated ECU on both sides of the ball as the Panther Offense has a breakout day rushing for almost 400 yds on the ground with 6 TD's and QB Z. Wire finally looks like the QB who could lead to the Panthers back to a National Championship.

ECU kept things close in the 1st Quarter trailing by just 1 score (14-7), but FIU would score 28 unanswered including a 86 yd TD run by Logan and a 22 yd TD reception by the Wolverine as he looks to announce his Heisman campaign.

FIU dominated the 3rd Quarter scoring twice as the Panthers extend their lead to 46-7 as we head to the 4th.

                      GAME RECAP

Tavon Logan not only set a new FIU record for most Yards in a Single Game, but he also set a new ACC record, as a Redshirt SO is named ACC and National Offensive Player of the Week.

Logan carried the ball for a new career high 381 yds well matching his previous 5 TD day as well, running for 4 scores in the 2nd Quarter alone.

As a team, FIU also set a new game high under the Coach Matt Miller era with 541 yds and 8 scores on the ground.

For a 2nd straight week, Duke Transfer Nick Fair fell just short of reaching a 100 yd game as he finished with 95 yds on 13 carries, but one of the biggest surprises this week was QB Zach Wire not known for his running abilities scoring not just 1 rushing TD but 2 including a 33 yd scramble in the 1st Quarter.

For Wake Forest there 4 game winning streak is snapped as the Demon Deacons will need to think about a new strategy on both sides of the ball.

Wake Forest trying using 2 different QB's. JR Rashad Draft (78) started the game completing 10/15 (66%) for 123 yds with 1 TD and 1 INT but RS FR D. Yeast (74) finished the game completing 9/16 (56%) for 95 yds with 1 INT thrown in the endzone as converted WR turned CB Garrison Falaha get's his first career INT.

                        GAME RECAP

Panther fan's and college football fans across the nation will always be left wondering if Tavon Logan could've carried FIU to back to back titles after missing the 2028 playoffs with a Broken Collarbone.

He is leaving little doubt in anyone's minds he has 1 mission this year and it's getting the Panthers a chance at #2.

Logan's record setting season continues as the Redshirt Sophomore not only carried the ball 28 times for 242 yds and 4 TD's on the ground, but added a pair of receiving touchdowns in the final minute of the 1st half to give FIU a commanding (35-7) lead going into the locker room.

                        Coach Miller
"I was on staff at Boise State during Ashton Jeanty's 2024 season. This isn't a knock against Ash, but Tavon Logan is the best RB I have every coached or watched play"
What's most impressive about Logan is he is putting up these #'s typically only playing 3 Quarters..

Duke Transfer Nick Fair who has rushed just shy of 100 yds the past 2 games finally gets his breakout game as he closes out the Panthers scoring with a 42 yd TD run to finish the day with a career high 160 yds and 2 scores.

Well the Offense and Rushing attack has been on point the past 3 games with over 70 points a game, it can't be lost that the FIU Defense held the #14 ranked Tar Heel's offense out of the endzone as UNC's only score of the day came on a 80 yd "Pick 6" INT return in the 1st Quarter..

It was another roller coaster day for QB Zach Wire who looked great at times throwing for almost 300 yds (288) with 4 TD's but also adding in 3 INT's in the process.

                          GAME RECAP

Georgia Tech did something 6 other teams have failed to do, and that was contain the "Wolverine" from making big plays.. Even though Logan still managed 100+ yds and 3 scores, it was a grind today as he avg just 2.9 yds per carry.

Well G.T. did a great job at containing Logan, they forgot all about JR WR Brian Cheek who had a career day earning both ACC Offensive Player of the Week and NCAA Player of the Week Awards as he finished with a team high 8 rec for 227 yds and 4 TD's, matching his season total in just 1 game.

Cheek wasn't the only Panther making big plays today either as SR TE Dominik Naanee breaks free on a 82 yd bomb to close out the game for just his first TD of the season..

Naanee broke onto the scene in 2025 as one of the first 4* Recruits to join the Coach Miller at FIU and became a absolute start breaking school records posting 86 rec for 1600 yds and 14 TD's as a Freshman but he has struggled the past 3 seasons as multiple teams have used double teams to take him completely out of the Panthers offensive game plan.

Well it wasn't a perfect day for RS FR QB Zach Wire (INT and a Fumble returned for a TD), Wire connected on multiple big plays to Cheek and Naanee finishing the game with a career high 457 yds and 5 TD's, again giving Coach Miller something to think about as the Panthers continue to find their QB of the future.

FIU continues to hold on to the #2 spot in the rankings as they move to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in ACC play. The Panthers will continue their season as they travel to Charlottesville VA in Week 9 to take on the (4-3) Virginia Cavaliers.

Virginia is riding a 3 game win streak (Syracuse, Liberty and Rutgers).

PANTHERS LAND FIRST 5* RECRUIT IN SCHOOL HISTORY!!!

It took 5 seasons and a move to the ACC, but the FIU has not officially signed the schools 1st ever 5* Recruit as Coach Matt Miller might have just found his new QB for the next 4 years.

Going into the season, Miller targeted 2 of the Nation's Best QB recruits. 5* AJ Bredia (#5 Overall/#1 WA/#1 QB) from Seattle WA and 5* Derek Hawkins (#16 Overall/#1 NC/#3 QB) from Wilmington NC.

Bredia was the first to visit Miami coming in the Panthers Week 5 win over ECU well Hawkins came in Week 7 as the Panthers hosted UNC another school in Hawkins Top-3. With huge wins over both programs, both players quickly moved FIU to the top of their target schools. But a Week 8 visit to Columbus sealed the deal for Bredia as he chooses to sign with the Buckeyes as FIU finished #2 ahead of Oregon.

Hawkins however with Bredia out of the picture announces his decision cancelling a Week 13 visit to UNC and a Week 14 visit to Georgia.

Listed at 6'1 214lbs, Hawkins is known for his ability to Improvise. Well he doesn't boast a Elite arm (91 THP) or Elite speed (80) he has alot of Abilities (Mobile Deadeye,Pull Down, Off Platform, Extender) as well as a great mental makeup (Road Dog, The Natural, and Field General)

With 2 of the current Top-4 WR's set to graduate (E. Cortez and F. Okwara) and Cheek most likely going to get NFL Draft Buzz yet again), Coach Miller knew it was important to land some future playmakers for whoever is going to be throwing the ball.

So far Coach Miller is 1/3 in the category landing 4* WR Walter Abiamiri (#62 Overall/#7FL/#10). Listed at 6'4 195 lbs from For Myers, Abiamiri was also being pursued by Miami, Georgia and Florida.

Well Florida struck out on Abiamiri, they did take 2 other 4* Recruits off the Panthers wish list landing Lamar Randle (#180 Overall/#25 FL/#26 WR) from Fort Lauderdale FL and Ben Silvera (#214 Overall/#34 FL/#33 WR) from Opa Locka FL

Florida wasn't the only school to make a impact on Coach Miller's wish list early in the season.

FIU and Miami are scheduled to close out the season in Week 14, but the Hurricanes are already winning off the field, as Miami signs 4* RG John Lopes (#268 Overall/#40 FL/#13 G) from Hollywood FL, 4* CB Derwin Acho (#148 Overall/#20 FL/#15 CB) from Bradenton FL, and 4* MLB Stefan Easy (#122 Overall/#13 FL/#5 MLB) from Hialeah FL.

To make matter worse, Florida State decided to make a a trifecta as they came in and swooped up 4* CB George Tejeda (#239 Overall/#37FL/#21 CB) before he could make his Week 12 visit to FIU.

                            Coach Miller
"We knew going into the season we would face alot of competition for the guy's we wanted especially the instate kids from the likes of Miami, Florida and FSU, so it wasn't really as a big of shock as one would think. Well we are disappointed with only have 2 verbal commitments going into Week 9, we are excited to still be in the face for (3) other 5* Recruits including 5* WR Emari Boenzi who we are leading Clemson and 5* FS Tyrique Heggie who we are currently leading Oregon and Penn State."

REBELS OUT LIONS IN AS WE HAVE A NEW #1

A Week 8 loss by former #1 Ole Miss to #6 Georgia (54-52) opened the door for a new #1 for Week 9, but instead of #2 FIU moving up, it was #3 Penn State jump frogging the Panthers into the #1 spot after their (40-38) win over #4 Wisconsin.

With PSU now #1, Georgia jumps from #6 to #3 with the win over Ole Miss well Nebraska moves to #4 with a (35-17) win over Cincinnati.

Ole Miss stays in the Top-5 landing at #5.

#8 Texas beat #20 TAMU (34-31) in a Top-25/SEC/Lone Star Showdown. With the win the Longhorns jump to #6.

#9 Notre Dame took care of business against #15 USC (29-17) winning the Jeweled Shillelagh. With the victory the Irish move to #7 well the Trojans dropped to #18

#7 Kansas State's hopes of getting a chance to try and repeat as National Champs are slipping away as the Wildcats fall (26-23) to Iowa dropping all the way to #17 with their 2nd loss of the season.

#10 Michigan also took a huge hit in the rankings this week with a (27-6) loss to Pitt dropping them all the way to #23.

#12 LSU also saw any chances of a playoff bid slip through their fingers as the Tigers drop a Week 8 matchup with Arkansas (35-10) giving them their 3rd loss of the season as they move to (4-3). The Tigers drop completely out of the Top-25. With matchups @ #10 Auburn and @ #6 Texas still on the schedule the Tigers will need to beat Alabama at home and Missouri on the road just to get bowl eligible.

                                GAME RECAP

For Tavon Logan the 2029 season has been the year of making history and the "Wolverine has done it again this time smashing the NCAA single game record and ACC single game record as well as setting a new FIU single game record with 533 yds on the ground. Logan also set the ACC and FIU single game record for most TD's in a game with (7) and now with 2080 yds rushing and 31 TD's he is also on pace to not only surpass Barry Sanders's 1988 record of 2628 yds and 37 TD's but to smash it, as he looks to cement his name in the NCAA history books as one of the greatest to ever play the game.

What's even more insane about today's stats, is Logan did all this still with over 9 minutes to play in the 4th Quarter and his 73 yd TD run with 9:38 to play in the game showed he still had plenty of gas still left in the tank despite 33 carries.

                                Coach Miller
"We are blessed to a very talented RB room this year with the addition of Nick Fair and well I am sure Logan is more then willing to carry the ball 40+ times in a game, there is no reason too.."
Logan wasn't the only one touting the rock today as both Fair (18 carries 108 yds 1 TD) and Tompkins (10 carries 50 yds 2 TD) both saw double digit carries, well Fair goes over 100 yds for a 2nd time this season.

Well Logan's 236 carries for 2080 yds and 31 TD's through 8 games is one of the most impressive displays of running anyone has seen in the past decade, FIU has proven this year that with Fair (98 carries 638 yds 4 TD) and Tompkins (38 carries 247 yds 7 TD) that this Panther rushing attack just can't be stopped.

                                Logan
"I don't just want my name in the history books, when you think about some amazing RB duo's over the year's the Pony Express of Eric Dickerson and Craig James at SMU in the 80's was Legendary.. Thurman Thomas and Barry at OSU, Reggie and Lendale at USC, Ricky Wiliams and Priest Holmes at Texas, the list goes on and on. I see no reason why Logan/Fair/Tompkins can't make that same type of history"
With Logan making NCAA history, it was a quite day in the office for the Panthers QB's. Starter Z. Wire would attempt just 15 pass's on the day throwing for 146 yds well backup Victor Ojukwu would attempt just 1 pass in the final 9 minutes of the game after the FIU 2nd team took over..

                                UP NEXT

FIU will return home to face #20 West Virginia in a Top-25 showdown in Week 10.

The Mountaineers started their season strong winning 4 straight after a Week 1 loss to Georgia but have lost 2 of their past 3 games (Duke and Miami) dropping to (5-3) Overall and (4-2) in ACC play.

                                RECRUITING UPDATE

After then win, Coach Miller got a phone call as 4* RT Trey Vizcaino (#35 Overall/#2 AZ/#2 RT) from Chandler Arizona announced was canceling his Week 12 visit with the Ducks and agreeing to be a Panther.. This great news for the Panthers as they look to rebuild a O-Line that has 5 Senior starters.

Well landing Vizcaino was great news for Coach Miller, then came the bad news as 247 reports that 5* DE Julius Boozer (#29 Overall/#2 OH/#3 DE) has agreed to sign with Penn State.

Boozer wasn't the only target to sign elsewhere in Week 9.. 4* RB Fredrick Burnettte (#204 Overall/#32 FL/#15 RB) is skipping his Week 13 visit to FIU and instead is signing with Georgia..

Burnette was FIU's only target at RB in this year's class, leaving the Panthers to scramble as they will now most likely look to the transfer portal to replace Nick Fair in the RB room.
