    GAME RECAP

Wake Forest did it's best trying to upset the #1 team in the country this week.

The Demon Deacons came out firing early as SR QB Rashad Draft (81) hits SR WR Ramon Marcus (87) early with a 69 yd pass play to give Wake the (7-0) lead. A Derek Hawkins INT would lead to another Draft touchdown pass as Wake Forest takes a (14-0) lead early in the 1st Quarter.

Hawkins would rebound from his earlier INT with a touchdown pass to Trapasso to make it (14-7) as the 1st Quarter comes to a close.

Wake Forest would add to their lead with a 20 yd FG early in the 2nd Quarter. to make it (17-7). Another Hawkins INT into the endzone kills a Panther scoring opportunity, but midway through the 2nd Quarter FIU adds on a 40 yd FG by Taj Dozier to cut the lead to (17-10) which is where it stayed as FIU goes into the locker room down by a score.

FIU dominated the 3rd Quarter scoring 3 times. FIU tied the game on the opening drive of the half as Hawkins finds Tyler Cisco on a touchdown pass to make it (17-17). FIU then took the lead as Tavon Logan breaks free for a 58 yd TD run to make it (24-17).

Wake Forest would rally behind backup QB Dennis Yeast. The RS SO from Lakeland FL would complete 12/17 (70%) and throw for 170 yds including a 22 yd pass to SR WR Brian Gossett (84) to tie the game (24-24) but with under 2 minutes to play in the 3rd, Hawkins finds Kris Newkirk 1 on 1 on the outside and Newkirk comes up with a huge 90 yd pass and catch to give the Panthers the (31-24) lead as we head into the 4th.

Wake Forest opened up the 4th Quarter scoring settling for a 33 yd FG which turns into a huge Defensive stop that turned the tide of the game for FIU (31-27), allowing the Panthers to make it a 2 score game on their next series as Titus Tompkins caps a 12 play drive with a 1 yd TD run to make it (38-27).

SR QB Rashard Draft returned to the game throwing 2 more touchdowns including another 60+ yd bomb to Marcus to make it (38-33) but the Demon Deacons would fail to convert the 2pt play leaving it a 5 point lead.

Tavon Logan does what he does best as he leads the Panthers down field on a nice 8 play drive capped with his 2nd rushing TD of the day to make it (45-33) with 1:54 to play in the game.

Wake Forest never gave up though as Draft throws his 4th TD of the day finding Gossett for his 3rd with under 30 seconds to play (45-40), leaving the Demon Deacons only hope a onside recovery.

FIU would send out the hands team to clinch the win as Trapasso falls on the kick.

Draft finished the game 9/14 (64%) for 255 yds with 4 TD, Gossett finished with 8 rec for 135 yds and 3 scores, well Marcus had 4 rec 174 yds and 2 TD's.

    KEY PANTHERS

Re: The Making of a Legend Part II "It's Miller Time".. CFB25

PANTHERS LAND 5* QB BUT LOSE SEVERAL OTHERS!!

With former 4* QB's Zach Wire now in Washington (1193 yds 14 TD 4 INT) and Enrique Verrett at FSU (1412 yds 13 TD 5 INT), FIU has turned to former 5* QB Derek Hawkins to lead the team coming off their National Championship win.

Hawkins has been solid so far leading the Panthers to a (5-0) start well completing 64% of his pass's for 1068 yds with 11 TD and 4 INT.

However next season Hawkins will have some competition for QB1, as Coach Miller lands the commitment from the #1 QB in the 2030 class.

5* Kevin Pounds (#11 Overall/#2 FL/#1 QB) has made it official.. The 6'4 192lb Melbourne FL native took a Week 7 visit to Gainesville but left the Swamp with his mind made up as he calls and cancels a Week 9 visit to the Hurricanes.

Well its un clear on whether or not Pounds will come in and take QB1 Day 1 from Hawkins, it is clear, Coach Miller now has some choices.

      Coach Miller
"Like I told Zach and Enrique last year.. Their 247 rating out of high school means nothing to me. What I want to see every week is 2 guy's pushing each other to make each other better and the winner is our starter.. Can we play 2 QB's for sure and will we.. Probably. Derek Hawkins has already shown in 5 games, he has the talent to be a starter in the ACC and could become one of the best QB's in the nation. Kevin Pounds however is a Magician when he has the ball.. This kid can throw (92 THP, and he can run (89 SPD, 92 ACC).. I could totally see us using a 2 QB system at times next season. With Logan most likely for going his Senior year and Tompkins set to graduate, we are going to need playmakers and guy's who can help us score points."

Well landing Pounds was huge. FIU's Top-35 Recruiting Board took a major hit this week as 5 players signed elsewhere including 5* OLB Alex Cutrera and 5* SS Sharrif Tolbert.

Cutrera (#10 Overall/#1 FL/#2 OLB) does indeed end up in College Station signing with the Texas A&M Aggies, well Tolbert (#30 Overall/#2 GA/#1 SS) has decided to stay home and play for the Georgia Bulldogs.

FIU looking to replace SR Tyler Cisco in the #1 WR spot struck out with their #1 choice as 4* Joe Foucha (#41 Overall/#3 NC/#8 WR) has signed with Virginia Tech.

The Miami/FIU rivalry goes beyond what just happens on the field in Week 14. These 2 teams battle it out Week in and Week out for the best recruits in the state and this week as no different as Miami comes away the winners signing 2 players.

      4* OLB Ernie Hammonds (#109/#12 FL/#9 OLB) and 4* CB Andres Flores (#120 Overall/#15 FL/#10 CB)

With 5 players signed else where and 4 players signed to Verbals signed with FIU, the Panthers have 26 players left on their Big Board with 21 scholarships remaining..

        GAME RECAP

The Quest for perfection is no more.. Last year FIU had a lone disappointing loss to Miami in Week 14 that spoiled a perfect season on their way to winning their 2nd National Championship. Today that quest for perfection was stopped in Week 8, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pull off the upset beating #1 FIU (38-30) behind 3 turnovers via INT's and 5 more via Downs.

Today was the Nate Bundy Show. The RS Sophomore from Miami would score 3 touchdowns including a 68 yd run in 2nd Quarter and a 17 yd reception in the 3rd Quarter to keep the Yellow Jackets in the game and give G.T. the lead early in the 3rd Quarter.

For True Freshman Derek Hawkins, today was a day he hopes to soon forget. Hawkins throws a career high 3 INT's including 2 in the 4th Quarter with his final turning into a "Pick 6" that sealed the loss. To make matters worse, FIU turned the ball over 5 times well trying to convert 4th down including 4 attempts in the 4th, well trailing.

For SR QB Stefan Slay (78) it was the opposite. The Jacksonville FL native completed (70%) of his pass's (24/34) throwing for 256 yds and 3 TD including a pair to Bundy who finished with 6 rec and 65 yds, as he takes MVP/POG honors with his Hat trick.

        KEY PANTHERS

        QB D. Hawkins-15/46 (32%) 213 yds 2 TD 3 INT
        RB T. Logan-18 carries 120 yds 1 TD
        RB T. Tompkins-9 carries 49 yds 1 TD

        WR A. Moe 1 rec 48 yds
        TE E. Godwin 2 rec 30 yds

        UP NEXT

With the loss FIU drops to #8 in the Rankings and is now (5-1) Overall and (3-1) in ACC play. The Panthers will look to rebound from the loss by hosting (3-3) Maryland in Week 9.

The Terrapins started the year (0-1) falling to Rice (26-21) in Week 1 but won 3 straight with wins over Wake Forest and East Carolina but have since then dropped 2 straight Syracuse (20-17) and NC State (36-28).

        RECRUITING NEWS

The Loss brought mixed results off the Field. FIU did managed to land their 5th Verbal commitment this week as 4* WR (#61 Overall/#6 FL/#11 WR) Ian Kamalu signs. Kamalu is listed at 6'4 207lbs from Clearwater FL and was being recruited by Georgia, Clemson, Miami and Ohio State.

However the future Panther run game was dealt a blow as 4* RB Stephen Ball (#267 Overall/#15 NC/#26) has announced he is signing with the Duke Blue Devils. Listed at 5'11 226lbs from Cornelius NC, Ball looked like a ideal clone of current Panther great Tavon Logan.

        Coach Miller
"Well we are extremely excited about having already landed Tim Trinidad, when we saw the tapes of Ball, I had to stop a minute because he really did look like a exact clone of the "Wolverine". Their size is a 5'11 225+ down to the speed (93) and their ability to just run over people (84 BTk)"

*With the signing of Kamalu, the Panthers 5 man class now ranked #23 Overall nationally and is currently #4 in the ACC behind V.T. (#3), Miami (#9) and Rutgers (#17)

Logan made history last season surpassing Barry Sanders with the single season record finishing the year with 3626 yds and 50 TD including playoff games, and now just 35 games into his career, Logan has officially taken over the Career rushing total. With 25 carries for 263 yds and 3 TD's, Logan now has 835 career carries for 6471 yds (7.7 avg) and 84 TD's. He is now just 5 TD's shy of breaking the NCAA record for most TD's in a career as well.

FII lands another 4* WR this week. 6'6 212lbs Eric Longo (#154 Overall/#17 FL/#23) from Daytona Beach FL has signed. Longo was in attendance for the win and committed on the spot turning down scholarship offers from Miami and Florida.

              Coach Miller
"We are very excited about Eric. Not only is a big at 6'5 but he has great hands and brings alot of traits and abilities that QB's are looking for in a Best Friend. I expect whoever is throwing the ball for the next 4 years will find Longo as a huge addition to our offense"

                GAME RECAP

Virginia Tech had no answer for RB Tavon Logan who just continues to push opposing defenses on his way to another record breaking season. With 4 touchdowns today, Logan has now tied Navy's Keenan Reynold for the All-time Rushing TD record with 88.

The Hokies came into the game ranked in the Top-25, looking to keep pace with the Panthers in hopes of maybe at least staying in the hunt for a playoff at-large spot at the end of the year. However with the loss V.T. drops to (5-3) on the season and to #23 in the rankings well FIU moves to (7-1) and climbs 1 spot to #6.

Trailing (24-0) at the half, Virginia Tech opened the 2nd half with the ball but would fail to find the endzone yet again as they settle for a FG to make it (24-3).. FIU not looking to throw their chances of a repeat spot in the ACC Championship and a 4th straight trip to the playoffs, stick with that they know best, running Logan and Tompkins down the throat of the defense as they continue to build on their lead.

Derek Hawkins didn't throw much and when he did the True Freshman continued to struggle. Facing a 3rd and 8 late in the 4th, Hawkins dropped back to pass but threw into double coverage trying to hit Tyler Cisco setting up the Hokies only touchdown of the game.

Whether its the knowledge of Kevin Pounds signing or maybe its the pressure of trying to help lead the Panthers to another title shot, Hawkins just hasn't been great this season completing just 53% of his pass's on the year and just 52% today.

FIU now (7-1) Overall and (5-1) in ACC play, has 4 games left on the year, starting with Week 11's matchup vs (4-4) Virginia.

The Cavaliers started the year (1-4) with loss's to Cal, NC State, Syracuse, and Rutgers, but have since won 3 straight beating Duke, Liberty and Georgia Tech... Can they make it 4 in a row or will Logan and company just be to much yet again.

PANTHERS SUFFER MAJOR BLOW OFF THE FIELD

Despite FIU's on the field success, Coach Miller continues to struggle off the field with recrutiing this season as 4 more player make their verbals to play elsewhere next season.

4* TE Manu Ojomo (#45 Overall/#4 GA/#1 TE) visited FIU in the Panthers Week 9 win over Maryland but after taking a Week 10 visit to Tennessee is saying Go Vol's.

Ojomo listed at 6'5 236 lbs from Buford GA was also being recruited by the Bulldogs and was listed to have a Week 12 visit scheduled with Georgia.

4* OLB Emannuel Ihenacho (#60 Overall/#1 HI/#7 OLB) from Kapolei Hawaii also visited FIU in Week 9 and had the Panthers #1, but like Ojomo he took a Week 10 visit to BYU and came away impressed with the Cougar canceling his Week 1 visit with Stanford and signing to play in Provo next season.

4* RB Tyron Muamba (#282/#31 FL?#29 RB) was next. Listed at 5'10 185 lbs from Bradenton FL, Muamba is canceling his Week 11 visit to FIU and has agreed to become a Twerp, I mean Terp, as he signs with Maryland.

Last but not least was 4* WR Shan Watt (#85 Overall/#2 MO/#14 WR).. Listed at 6'3 213 lbs from Springfield MO,, Watt visited FIU in Week 9 but left without giving his Verbal, instead calling Kansas State and giving it to the Wildcats a week before his scheduled Week 11 visit.

Coach Miller and his staff now have 18 players left on their 35 player Big Board with just 4 weeks left to play in the regular season.

on Logan's historic run continuing. With how hard he is pushing it, 7K and 100 is definitely doable.

Sucks on the recruiting trail, but when you rub elbows with the big boys sometimes you get pushed out. If FIU keeps molly whopping Miami it won't happen too much longer

Yeah it's been tough. Despite m on the field performance I keep missing out on guy's who have FIU #1 until like Week 8-10 then visit another school and then I am out. Sucks because now by Week 10 there isn't a whole lot left..

It's crazy cause I am pretty sure every recruit in the nation would want to go to a school in Miami that has won 2 of the last 3 National Titles and has been to the playoffs 4 years in a row. IRL

                        GAME RECAP

Tavon Logan has done it.. In less then 3 full seasons, Tavon Logan is the NCAA/ACC/FIU record holder for Most Yards in a Game (533). Logan dominated the Cavaliers catching a 18 yd score to open up the game (7-0) and then added 3 rushing touchdowns to go with his 162 yds on 21 carries (7.7 avg).

For FIU it was a pretty solid all-around game by all aspects of the team today. The Defense picked off SR QB Dom Walters (80 Ovr) 3 times and FR Derek Hawkins threw 3 TD's in the Panthers Blowout win..

Trailing 45-0 Virginia punted late in the 4th and was able to down the ball at the 1 yd line.. FIU lined up in a I-Formation giving Logan the ball, with Virigina sending the blitz, the officials claimed Logan never left the endzone resulting in a safety awarding 2 points to the away team. Virginia would then add on a late FG to make it (45-5) but Logan's final TD nailed the door shut as FIU wins their 3rd straight..

Walters finished the game 15/34 (44%) for 147 yds to go with his 3 INT

                            GAME RECAP

Last year West Virginia jumped out to a early (21-0) lead before FIU rallied to retake the lead after scoring 4 times in the 2nd Quarter. This year was a very much different game.

FIU jumped out to a early (14-0) lead as Derek Hawkins throws a pair of touchdown pass's including a 25 yd strike to Tavon Logan.

The game then went scoreless until 34 seconds to play in the half with West Virginia finally getting on the scoreboard with a 39 yd FG to make it (14-3).

WVU would start the 2nd half with the ball and after SR QB George Woodhead (83) hits SR WR P. Odum (87) on a 12 yd score the Mountaineers would elect to go for the 2pt play to make it (14-11).

Woodhead and Odum would hookup for a 2nd time later in the 3rd Quarter to give West Virginia the (18-14) lead as we head into the 4th.

It was a busy day for both Punters as both teams combined for 13 punts, but finally midway through the 4th FIU would retake the lead on a 33 yd TD pass from Hawkins to RS FR Carlos Badet to make it (21-18).

WVU would take over looking to go back on top, but Woodhead is picked off by SO CB Ryan Dickerson as FIU takes over with just under 3 minutes to play.

Not wanting to take any chances Coach Miller went to the ground game as the Panthers ate away some valuable minutes off the clock before Titus Tompkins punches in a short TD run to make it a 2 score game.

WVU would turn the ball over on downs on their final series, as FIU gets the ball back and runs out the clock.

Woodhead finished the day 27/42 (62%) for 371 yds with 2 TD and 2 INT

                              GAME RECAP

Last year FIU had a very disappointing loss on Senior Day in Week 14 vs Miami (sim loss).. But this year FIU would be facing a (4-6) Liberty squad.

However when it comes to records you can throw that all out the window when these 2 squads face off. Well it's not a a instate rivalry, FIU and Liberty have built their own little rivalry starting back in 2025, in Coach Miller's first season with the Panthers with these 2 teams facing each other twice in CUSA Championship games.

FIU honored 14 actual Seniors along with All-American National POY Tavon Logan. Even though Logan is just a Junior everyone knows this is his last season wearing the Panther Blue and Gold.

                              Coach Miller
"It was important for us to honor Logan for everything he has done for our program the past 3 seasons. Well drafting a RB #1 has lost some of it's appeal in the NFL. (Ki-Jana Carter 1995), Logan is about to make history 1 more time in the upcoming draft."
The Liberty Defense came to play in the 1st half, as they hold FIU twice inside the 5 yd line as the Panthers are forced to settle for a pair of 22 yd FG's in the opening quarter as Liberty takes a (7-6) lead into the 2nd.

Tavon Logan would give FIU the (13-7) lead early in the 2nd Quarter finally punching it in on a short 1 yd run, but with less then 2 minutes to play in the half the Flames retake the lead as Freshman QB Thaddeus Kenyon (73) throws his 2nd TD of the day to give Liberty the (14-13) lead at the half.

Liberty opened up the 2nd half with the ball but was dealt a double blow as Kenyon not only throws a INT to to SO Garrison Falah but is also knocked from the game in the process.

The INT would lead to a Panther touchdown as FB Kwabena Strong starting for Isaiah Dennis who is out with a Broken wrist, takes a FB Dive up the middle 17 yds for the score. FIU would leave the offense on the field as Hawkins finds RS FR TE Earl Godwin for the 2pt play to make it (21-14).

With Kenyon out of the game, Liberty would turn to another Freshman QB (Storm Petty-76) who despite solid play, would fail to pick up a several short 3rd down plays leading to pair of punts as the 3rd Quarter comes to a close.

FIU got things going early in the 4th as FR QB Derek Hawkins finds Senior Tyler Cisco on a 34 yd touchdown pass to give the Panthers the 2 score lead (28-14).. Then after another 3 and out, FIU makes it (35-14) as Senior RB Titus Tompkins scores the first of his 2 TD's on the day with a 3 yd run.

With 2:17 to play in the game Tompkins breaks of a 25 yd run for TD #2 giving him over 100 yds on the day as he joins Logan breaking the century mark.

Liberty not looking to just give up finally puts together a full drive as Petty connects with Ben Garrison for a 5 yd score with 2 seconds to play.

                              T. Kenyon finished the day 6/9 112 yds 2 TD 1 INT, well S. Petty was 11/14 for 1126 yds and 1 TD.

                              LOGAN WATCH

With Logan's 118 yds against the Flames, he is now just 6 yards shy of hitting 2000 yds on the season and his TD was #25 for the year.

With 1994 yds and 25 TD's on the ground and another 2 TD's through the air, Logan continues to hold onto the #1 spot in the Heisman talk as the Junior RB looks to repeat, but don't count out his competition just yet.

Alabama JR QB Evan Shead (90 Ovr) has thrown for 3291 yds with 26 TD and 5 INT, well also rushing for 302 yds and 1 TD.. He is currently #2.

Louisiana SR WR David Clay (78 Ovr) is currently #3. Clay has 52 rec for 1045 yds with 15 TD receiving and another 230 yds and 3 TD rushing.

Marshall's SR QB Jarrad Trinidad (81 Ovr) is currently 4th, but I would argue his #'s are better then Shead's. Trinidad has 2749 yds passing with 31 TD and just 2 INT, and he leads the Herd in rushing with 541 yds and 7 TD.

Texas A&M SR WR Chad Jackson (88) is currently #5. Jackson has 42 rec for 873 yds with 13 TD receiving and 25 carries for 327 yds and 3 TD rushing.

                                GAME RECAP

The Battle for the Kingdom.. A rivalry that hasn't really been much of a rivalry in the eyes of the Miami Hurricanes. This was only the 8th meeting (4 IRL and 4 in the game) with FIU winning just 1 of the previous 8 matchups. However some will say there is a * next to last year's result as Coach Miller missed the game with a illness. Needless to say FIU is 0-3 against the Canes in the Miller era, but they were looking to change that today.. Last year the Hurricanes spoiled FIU's "Senior Day" and now it was the Panthers turn to do the same.

Miami opened up the game with the ball and settled for a 41 yd FG to get things going (3-0). A Derek Hawkins INT would give the ball right back to the Canes but the Panther D holds forcing another FG to make it (6-0)...

Another quick 3 and out gave Miami the ball back but SR FS TJ Everett comes up with a Forced Fumble and recovery setting up the Panthers inside the 20 yd line with a chance to take the lead and with 2:58 to play in the opening quarter, Tavon Logan did just that as he goes 13 yds for the score to make it (7-6). After that the Panthers never looked back..

FIU would add a Taj Dozier FG early in the 2nd Quarter to extend the lead to (10-6) and then midway through the quarter extend the lead yet again was Titus Tompkins punches in a short yard touchdown to make it (17-6). Then with less then a minute to play in the half it was FB Kwabena Strong capping off a nice 11 play drive with a 1 yd run up the gut to make it (24-6) at the half.

Miami would hold FIU to a FG on the opening drive of the 2nd half to make it (27-6). Then midway through the 3rd Quarter, JR WR George Bravo (85 ovr) would break a 60 yd Jet Sweep for the score to make it (27-13). FIU however would answer right back with their own 50 yd touchdown as Tavon Logan breaks free for the big score as FIU extends the lead back to (34-13) as we head to the 4th..

Logan and Tompkins continued to run the offense as as Freshman QB Derek Hawkins finishes the day with just 6 completions on 16 attempts. Tompkins would add on (2) 4th Quarter scores well Miami adds 1 more touchdown midway through the 4th but loses the game by 4 scores.

Miami was led by FR QB Legend Coffee (83) who completed 23/37 (62%) for 296 yds.. He was sacked 5 times.

FIU will have a Week 15 Bye before moving on to the ACC Championship.

The Panthers will rematch with #23 (8-4) East Carolina who defeated Wake Forest to earn their shot at the ACC Championship in just their 2nd season since joining the ACC with FIU after multiple Battles for the CUSA crown the in Coach Miller's first 4 years with the Panthers.

LOGAN AND TOMPKINS FINISH SEASON STRONG

Tavon Logan closes out the regular season with 259 carries for 2242 yds with 27 TD #'s that he will continue to grow with at least 2 more games this season and potentially 4. Leaving some to wonder could Logan put together another 3000 yd season before leaving for the NFL.

For his career Logan now has 940 carries for 7290 yds (7.8 avg) with 94 TD's. With the way he is playing 7500 yds and 100 TD's seems like a pretty safe bet.

Well Titus Tompkins has had to play 2nd Fiddle to Logan the past 3 seasons. Tompkins in his own right has put together a season that has caught the eye's of the NFL scouts. Many believe Tompkins could very well join Logan as a 1st Round pick.

Tompkins has put together a solid Senior season rushing 180 times for 1085 yds with 13 TD's #'s that would typically be Doak Walker Award winning in any other year that doesn't have Logan in the picture.

For his career Tompkins now has 373 carries for 2293 yds (6.1 avg) with 35 TD's.
