The Rangers have decided to do something to shake up the team. Why? Who knows, especially after an 11-3-5 start to the season. They have sent down C Brandon Dubinsky and D Brendan Mikkelson to the Hartford Wolfpack, and called up D Brian Fahey. The lines are now Gomez centering Avery and Zherdev, Blair Betts centering Naslund and Nik Antropov, Freddie Sjostrom in between Drury and Callahan and Colton Orr between Aaron Voros and Lauri Korpikoski. The defensive pairings will remain unchanged.

"I'm here, with Hartford winger Patrick Cosgrove. Pat, how would you describe what happened here?"

"Tough loss. Greg got that last goal and thought we had momentum. Coach took my line off and our best face off man which was something that was killer. We lost three important draws that could have gotten us into their zone and we never really got the puck back until it was too late."

"Are you saying that Coach Gerander made a mistake?"

"No. I can't say who made the call, but we needed someone who could win a draw, and all night Dubie and I had been getting it done all night. I have no idea why we didn't have our best players in the game. Maybe it was exhaustion but I think those guys could have sucked it up. Maybe that's why he was demoted from New York."

hahaha hey, looks like we've got a miniatury sean avery on the ranger's farm. Maybe you can have an episode where he comes down to teach the AHL kiddies a thing or two, and patty outdoes him? haha.

                                Re: A Different Path (BAP)

Even though Pat was a professional hockey player, his $40,000 salary could not help him afford a better car than his 1993 Plymouth Sundance. Driving to the XL Center was always an adventure, but especially today.

It was Sunday and usually the team had the day off after a Saturday game but Pat liked to come in and use the weight room and work out by himself. Sometimes Mark Bell joined him, and recently Brandon Dubinsky had been as well since the Rangers had sent him down.

Coming out of the weight room drenched in sweat and dead tired, he heard his cell phone ringing from the locker room.

Answering it, he heard a voice he hadn’t heard since he had been put on the first line.

“Hey, Pat. I have some news for ya kid, so if you can be at the rink in 20 minutes that would be great,” Jim Schoenfield said breathlessly.

“I’m already here sir. I was just in the weight room.”

“Spectacular. I’m on my way to the locker room. As I said, I have some news.”

                                …5 Minutes Later…

“Hey Pat, great to see you here on your day off.”

“Actually, we have a game today Mr. Schoenfield,” Pat said confused.

“Actually son, you don’t. I’ve just gotten the call from Mr. Sather. Sean Avery is injured and you’re his replacement. Be proud of yourself son. I honestly didn’t think you would get past the third line down here, but you’ve proved your worth. The Rangers believe in you kid and that’s what matters.”

“Thank you so much sir. I won’t let you or the Rangers down. I promise.”

“Well you have some time kid, your first game is tomorrow in New York against Phoenix and they expect you to get there by 11 for their morning skate.”

Pat was so excited he didn’t know what to do. He knew he had to call his family and then tell Tommy and Brodie the news. He knew that they would be excited for him even though they were still down in the AHL.
