The Toronto Maple Leafs look to break out of their slump in a favourable matchup against the New York Islanders. The Leafs return to Scotiabank Arena for the first time in the new calendar year, with Leafs' leading scorer John Tavares taking on his former team on the first Hockey Night in Canada of 2020.

Up Next: Maple Leafs (27-16-2) @ Panthers (21-17-6)

The Maple Leafs hit the road for a rare Sunday tilt against the Florida Panthers in the sunshine state. The Panthers currently sit just one spot behind the Maple Leafs in the Atlanta Division standings, racking up 48 points this season compared to the Leafs' 56 points thus far. The Maple Leafs look to turn things around as they dropped their last contest 3-2 at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets. January has been a rocky month for the boys in blue, going 2-3 over the first two weeks of the new year.

The Maple Leafs wrap up a long week on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks after playing four games in 7 days and going 2-0-1 over that span. The Leafs look to bounce back after a tough-luck loss in overtime against the Calgary Flames on Thursday, and will look for John Tavares to lead the charge. Tavares has 30 goals and 30 assists in 48 games this season playing alongside offensive talents Kasperi Kapanen and Mitch Marner.

Those players' stats actually look pretty realistic.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs Connor Brown scored the game's first two goals, putting the Senators up early with a pair of powerplay markers. Brown was traded to the Senators in the offseason in a deal that saw Cody Ceci head to the Leafs.

Jason Spezza's goal in the third period opened up the flood gates for the Leafs, who scored 3 goals in under two minutes in what was a 1-1 game at the time. Kasperi Kapanen would add another late in the third to give the Leafs a 5-1 victory, their third victory in a row.

Up Next: Stars (22-28-6) @ Maple Leafs (37-17-3)

The Toronto Maple Leafs look to continue their winning ways as they look to extend their win streak to six games against the visiting Dallas Stars. The Stars have been under-achievers all season long, but that doesn't mean that they can be taken lightly. The Stars still feature a bevy of superstar talent including Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. The Maple Leafs will be without first line winger Kasperi Kapanen as he continues to deal with effects of a mild concussion suffered earlier in the week. Dymtro Timashov will take his spot in the lineup as coach Mike Babcock shuffles his lines.
