Leafs, Lightning Square Off In Second Round Of 2020 NHL Playoffs

Avalanche vs. Blackhawks
The Colorado Avalanche pulled off a surprising upset over the San Jose Sharks in six games, and carry a ton of momentum heading into their matchup against the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks and Wild went the full seven games in their first round matchup, with the seasoned Blackhawks squad prevailing in the end.

Canucks vs. Flames
This all-Canadian second round matchup features two teams that both had a week off since last playing. The Canucks made quick work of the Vegas Golden Knights and the Calgary Flames sent Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers packing in four games. It'll be interesting to see how long this series goes, with both teams featuring young, explosive offence. The Flames' veteran defensive presence may be the difference maker in the series.

Capitals vs. Flyers
For the first time in a while there won't be an Ovechkin/Crosby matchup in the playoffs with the Philadelphia Flyers making quick work of the Crosby-led Penguins in the first round. Now, their tasked with the daunting challenge of taking on Alexander Ovechkin in the second round. More importantly, Braden Holtby has stood on his head for the playoffs as of late, and if things continue to go the way they have, this series might be over sooner rather than later.

Leafs vs. Lightning
The Lightning finally prevailed in the seventh game of their series against the Boston Bruins, saving the Maple Leafs another date with their playoff nemesis. The Leafs lit up the goal lamp against the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, with their first two lines recording 39 points in the short four game series. It'll be interesting to see how fatigue plays a role in this matchup, as the Leafs have had a whole week off after sweeping the Hurricanes while the Lightning battled it out against a physical Bruins team.

Maple Leafs Draw First Blood, Take Game One From Lightning

John Tavares took over the game in the third period, scoring a hat trick in under three minutes to open the period and setting the tone for the Maple Leafs' offence. The Leafs would go on to score six goals in the period.

Two Canadian Teams Left Standing As Conference Finals Approach

Blackhawks vs. Flames
The youthful Calgary Flames and veteran-laden Chicago Blackhawks will square off in the Western Conference Finals. The Blackhawks made quick work of the Colorado Avalanche with a four game sweep, meaning they'll have well rested legs against a Flames team that played an additional two games in a 4-2 series win over the Vancouver Canucks. The Flames will look to make the west coast of Canada proud as they attempt to crack the Stanley Cup Finals.

Maple Leafs vs. Capitals
The Washington Capitals sent the Toronto Maple Leafs packing in heartbreaking fashion in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Leafs are back and hungrier than ever. Auston Matthews has been on a historical level so far in the playoffs, recording 15 goals and 19 points in just nine games as the Leafs made quick work of both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes. However, don't underestimate the threat of Alexander Ovechkin, who has consistently put his team on his shoulders in the playoffs, not to mention Braden Holtby, who has held down the crease for the Capitals all season long.
