    NHL Monthly Recap
    Match 2020

    Monthly Record: 7-5-2
Overall Record: 47-22-8 (102pts, 2nd in Atlantic; likely Playoff opponent: Buffalo Sabres)

    Storylines:
√ Too soon for Timothy? In 14 games, the rookie defenseman has just 2 goals, 2 PIMs and a +3 despite playing 17:38 a night usually beside Dustin Byfuglien. Rumors abound that he will be sent down to play in the Marlies Playoffs, and the Leafs could recall Ladue, Welinski, Biega or Schenn
√ Andersen to play sparingly in last games of season, Anton Khduobin to start most games. 3rd String Jack Campbell could get a start as well

Yeah I'm a little concerned about the loss of offense in the back. Paul Ladue certainly won't replace it. Hopefully the forwards can make up for it

                    Franchise Update:

So having read a few other Dynasty Threads on here, I'll be doing playoff previews like others.

Thing is, for some odd reason, when I post, if I type too big a post, my writing will disappear and it's like I'm from Harry Potter writing with invisible ink - there when I post, but I can't see any spelling mistakes.

Anyone have tips to fix that? I can incorporate them into future posts. I use a Q-Stylo Plus in case that has any bearing

my first year, and first full franchise dynasty, is very much a work in progress and I want to thank each and every one of my followers. I'd love to hear from others besides Sens LOL

                    Cheers!!

Re: Cursebreaker (Toronto Maple Leafs NHL20 - Fun Only)

                      Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals (Part 1)

                      A1 Boston Bruins (58-20-4, 120) vs W2 Montreal Canadiens (48-31-3, 99)

√ The Montreal Canadiens take on the Boston Bruins as the rivalry continues. The Canadiens offense will be hard pressed against Tukka Rask; the Habs leading scorer is Shea Weber (11 goals, 68pts)
√ Jesper Fast exceeded expectations, scoring 54 points and 29 goals, 3rd on the team and 4 higher than David Pastranak; playing on a line with David Krejci and Nick Ritchie paid huge dividends for the Bruins

                      A2 Toronto Maple Leafs (49-25-8, 106) vs Buffalo Sabres (51-29-2, 104)

√ Can Jack Eichel carry Buffalo through the playoffs like he got them there? He only scored 102 points - and 54 goals
√ Leafs will need Andersen and shutdown pairing Hamonic-Byuglien to shut down the Buffalo top line (Skinner-Eichel-Lee) which combined for 114 goals (compared to just 74 by the Leafs top line). The Leafs have better Center depth in the Top 6; Tavares & Matthews had 34 goals each. Buffalo 2nd line center Erik Haula had just 17

                        Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals Part 2

                        M1 Pittsburgh Penguins (48-26-8, 104) vs W1 Tampa Bay Lightning (50-28-4, 104)

√ Tight contest, with both teams having very similar stats. Tampa Bay does has a slightly weaker Penalty Kill (76.8% compared to 81.7)

√ Jarry time in Pittsburgh! Tristan Jarry set career highs in games played (67), wins (34) and shutouts 7). Backup Matt Murray was good in limited starts (7-1-2, 14 games). Due to injury however, Emil Larmi (3-2-1, 8GP) has been playing more frequently

                        M2 Carolina Hurricanes (48-29-5, 101) vs M2 NY Rangers (45-30-7, 97)

√ Who starts in goal for New York? Henrik Lundqvist (23-20-3, 49GP) & Igor Shesterkin (19-14-3, 40GP) were a mediocre 1A/1B; for this team to be successful; the team needs a clear #1 goalie

√ Martin Necas continues to be a lethal 2nd line center, even in his first year in the league. He has scored 28 goals (tied for 2nd on team) and 65 points in his first full season

                          Western Conference Quarter-Finals Part 1

                          C1 Dallas Stars (46-28-8, 100) vs W2 Arizona Coyotes (38-34-10, 86)

√ Dallas needs secondary scoring to continue in playoffs. When top line winger Alexander Radulov suffered a season ending Injury, everyone thought it would sink them. Instead depth players showed up. The team had 4 players with 20+ goals and a total of 10 has more than 10 goals

√ Arizona needs Keumper to get back on track; the #1 goalie had a tumultuous season going 25-24-9 in 60 games. Backup Antti Raanta (13-11-1) hasn't fared much better

                          P1 Vegas Golden Knights (44-26-12, 100) vs W1 Chicago Blackhawks (42-30-10, 94)

√ Who starts in Chicago? Incumbent starter Corey Crawford went 23-21-6, whereas backup Malcolm Subban went 18-10-4.

√ Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith enjoyed a resurgent year, scoring 52 points in 78 games, his highest since 2016/2017.

√ Vegas touts multiple offensive weapons. The team had a whopping 9 players (1 defenseman, Nate Schmidt) score 50+ points, with 3 scoring 70+ (Stastny, Pacioretty, Marchessault). Team had seven by 20+ goal scorers (Tomas Nosek is had 19)

                            Western Conference Quarter-Finals Part 2

                            C2 Winnipeg Jets (48-31-3, 99) vs C3 Nashville Predators (45-30-7, 97)

√ Winnipeg continues to ride a hot top line; Mark Schiefele, Blake Wheeler & Patrik Laine have combined for 103 goals and a whopping 298 points (compared to just 86 goals & 199 points for Nashville's top line)

√ Nashville top Defense pairing of Ryan Ellis & Roman Josi terrorized the league; both scored 12+ goals and 60+ points (combining for 29 goals & 130 points, which is almost as much as the Top forward line)

                            P2 San Jose Sharks (40-28-14, 94) vs P3 Vancouver Canucks (40-36-6, 86)

√ Martin Jones led the league in something, but not necessarily a good record; he has the most OT Losses in the league with 13; hopefully the Sharks don't end up playing Overtime

√ Canucks need otherworldly performance from top line of JT Miller-Elias Pettersson-Brock Boeser to make up for the mediocre play of Jacob Markstrom (32-27-5, .901%, GAA 3.18)

                              Franchise Playoff Format

So for the playoffs I tend to change my routine up. I will be simming most of the AHL playoffs, but will play the Calder Cup Final round if the Marlies advance that far

For the NHL, I will employ a play one, sim one, play one, etc method.

And now, onto the game preview...
