CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS to part ways with Jonathan Toews?

        11/

CHICAGO- It's just a rumor but recent news out of the Windy City is that the Chicago Blackhawks are willing to part ways from longtime Captain Jonathan Toews.

Chicago won 3 Stanley Cups in 5 years earlier in the decade with their last one coming in 2015 over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Head Coach Joel Quenneville was quoted saying "It be a shame to get rid of Toews. He's the heart and soul of this Team. He helped us win 3 Championships."

The Blackhawks were eliminated in the first round of the 2016 Playoffs by the St. Louis Blues in 7 Games.

The next year they were swept by the Nashville Predators.

Chicago missed the Playoffs last year and longtime Franchise Player Patrick Sharp retired.

And now it seems that the Hawks may be looking to dump another valid piece of their Stanley Cup puzzle in Jonathan Toews. Should Toews leave the Windy City, Chicago will still have Corey Crawford and Patrick Kane as their core.

"I love it here in Chicago. We had success over the years but I understand it's a business decision. My heart is here." Toews stated.

"I can only confirm right now that I am interested in listening to offers for Jonathan Toews at this time. That is all." Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman stated.

Chicago is one of the best Teams in the Western Conference right now with a 8 game winning streak and a 12-6 record.

Toews has 4 Goals and 11 Assists.

Curtis Sawyer's Overtime Winner sends SHARKS to 6 straight Wins with a 2-1 OT Victory over FLAMES...

          RECAP

San Jose, CA- Rocking a 5 game winning streak, the San Jose Sharks(11-5-2) kicked off a 6 game homestand inside the Shark Tank.

Calgary(9-7-2) were up to the challenge.

San Jose was scoring at will the past few games but the Flames came in and shut them down with Goalie Mike Smith turning away 36 shots.

Sharks Martin Jones turned away 25 shots and the score was 1-1 heading into Overtime.

Then an unsung hero stepped forward.

23 year old Rookie Curtis Sawyer blasted a slapshot in the first minute of Overtime past Smith for his first Game Winning Goal and his 6th Goal of his career.

He was then mauled by his Teammates as the San Jose Sharks(11-5-2) won their 6th straight game.

"You always dream about those kind of goals as a kid. But it was hands down possibly the greatest goal of my life so far." Curtis Sawyer stated.

"He's really contributed for us so far this year. All of the younger guys have really stepped up. I'm loving how this year is going so far but there's still a lot of hockey left." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Sharks continue their homestand against the red hot Nashville Predators(12-4-1) on Tuesday night.

BLUES with a little payback snaps SHARKS win streak with a 4-1 victory..

                RECAP

San Jose, CA- The San Jose Sharks(13-6-2) 8 game winning streak is officially over thanks to a dominating performance by the St. Louis Blues(9-9).

"We were just not very good tonight. We played sloppy. Couldn't convert on the powerplay and just couldn't get anything going. Give St. Louis credit for absolutely just owning us tonight." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Blues Goalie Jake Allen turned away 32 shots and Vladimier Tarasenko scored twice to lift the Blues over the Sharks inside the SAP Center.

"We kinda owed it to them. They came into our building and beat us so we wanted to return the favor." Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo stated.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones stopped 29 shots and allowed 4 goals as the Blues just crashed the net.

"Rough game. We just didn't have it tonight. We were winning games but just came out flat tonight." Martin Jones stated.

The Sharks avoided a shutout with 6:49 left in the third period with a slapshot by Rookie Tyler Adams.

                His 11th of the year.

"I didn't want to go down without at least one goal." Joked Adams.

The Blues(9-9) got some payback on the Sharks as Mike Yeo's Team will not see San Jose(13-6-2) again until March 9 in St. Louis.

Edmonton(8-9-3) will play the Sharks on Tuesday night with former Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan returning to San Jose.

OILERS knock off SHARKS in Overtime 2-1 as McLellan gets best of former club.

                  RECAP

San Jose, CA- Edmonton's Head Coach Todd McLellan is no stranger to the San Jose Sharks.

The Oilers Head Coach spent 7 years behind the bench in San Jose before accepting the job for the Pacific Rivals, Edmonton.

Since leaving San Jose Todd McLellan appears to still own his former club. The Oilers knocked the Sharks out of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs in six games in which McLellan was booed by the Sharks faithful.

Tonight was no different as the Sharks fans rained down boos at their former Coach.

"I understand the boos. I spent years there and I know how faithful the fans and the City are. We went in there and won a hockey game. Just how it goes." McLellan stated.

"We have some history with him especially since he's still in the Pacific Division. Always leaves a bad taste in our mouths everytime we lose to them." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Oilers(9-9-3) got on the board in just 33 seconds with a rocket by Oilers Alternate Captain Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

The Sharks(13-6-3) tied it up as the second period came to a close with a Kevin LeBanc goal.

Then came overtime where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shot the game winner to the dismay of the Shark Tank.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones stopped 24 shots as the fast paced Oilers crashed the net as if was the Stanley Cup Playoffs back in 2017 all over again.

"It was one of those Playoff atmosphere games. Edmonton has some firepower for sure. They just got the best of me tonight." Sharks Goaltender Martin Jones stated.

Oilers netminder Mikko Koskinen turned away 31 shots and even stopped breakaways from Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski and alternate Evander Kane.

"We need to be better on those to give us some goals. We didn't execute tonight." Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski stated.

The Sharks(13-6-3) will wrap up their 6 game homestand on Friday night with the Vancouver Canucks(11-13) before heading to the desert to play Vegas.

SHARKS end homestand with 5-2 victory over CANUCKS...

                      RECAP

San Jose, CA- The San Jose Sharks(14-6-3) have ended their 6 game homestand with a statement win.

A 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks(11-14) on Friday night.

"We talked about how we needed to get to the net and score some goals and tonight we did that. We wanted to give us some momentum before we head to Vegas." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer said.

The Canucks jumped on the board early off Rookie Joey Backstrom with a 1-0 lead by Vancouvers Nickoly Goldobin.

But the Sharks would answer right back with a Timo Meier slapshot to tie the game at one a piece.

With the game tied at 1-1 entering the third period, San Jose broke out some goals to end their long homestand.

Captain Joe Pavelski broke the tie but Vancouver tied it up again thanks to a Elias Pettersson goal.

But the Sharks(14-6-3) pulled away for good by goals scored by Joe Thornton, Tyler Adams, and Curtis Sawyer to send the Sharks heading to Vegas with some momentum.

"We took off in the third and scored some goals. That's what we talked about in the locker room. Get to the net and score." Sharks Alternate Captain Logan Couture said.

Veteran Joe Thornton scored his 399th Career goal tonight.

"The guys in the locker room are playing great. The chemistry they have really shows on the ice. Still a long season ahead but we're excited to see where we go." DeBoer added.

"They're a tough team. Nitty gritty kind. Anybody will have trouble playing them here in this building." Canucks Head Coach Travis Green stated.

Backstrom turned away 19 shots as Vancouver struggled to get Shots on Goals.

Canucks Thatcher Demko stopped 34. Jacob Markstrom had the night off.

With momentum, San Jose is about to start a 5 game road trip with a stop in Vegas tomorrow night.

SAN JOSE SHARKS hit road for 5 games on East Coast...

                        Saturday November 24, 2018

                        PREVIEW

The San Jose Sharks(14-6-3) have ended their 6 game homestand where they went 4-1-1 against the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks.

Now the Sharks will kick off a 5 game road trip on the East Coast but first will make a stop in the desert for a matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas last year in their inaugural season beat San Jose in Round 2 of the Playoffs in 6 games. The Knights would lose in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Washington Capitals.

However Vegas(10-13-1) appears to be in a hangover winning just 2 of their last 10 games. They sit in 6th place in the Pacific Division with 21 points. Head Coach Gerard Gallant still has the same team in place from their Cinderella story last year.

Jonathan Marchessault is hurt missing time with a pulled groin. William Karlsson has 7 goals. Paul Statsny has 5 goals. Captain Mark Stone has only seen the ice 5 games suffering a torn shoulder and will not return until December 28..

Veteran Marc-Andre Fluery is anchoring the Knights backend the best he can with the injuries and inconsistencies. He has a record of 8-10. Rookie Rock Jacobs is helping out in 8 games with a 2-3-1 record.

After Vegas the Sharks will head to the east coast with a trip in Buffalo. The Sabres beat the Sharks 3-2 in San Jose in overtime.

Buffalo(10-10-3) is 5th in the Atlantic Division with 23 points. Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner lead the way for Buffalo and they just acquired Michael Frolik from the Calgary Flames by giving up 2 Draft picks.

In the net Carter Hutton(4-3) can be a brick wall as well.

The Sharks will then enter Eastern Canada with their first stop in Toronto to meet Patrick Marleau and the Maple Leafs(12-9-2). The Leafs are in second place trying to keep pace with the Boston Bruins behind 7 points in the Atlantic Division.

Leafs Head Coach Mike Babcock has Toronto in the Playoff race. Patrick Marleau has 4 goals, Auston Matthews has 9, John Tavares leads with 10.

Between the pipes is Frederik Andersen(9-7-1) who the Sharks beat for 4 goals in a 4-0 shutout in San Jose on November 15.

Up next will be the Ottawa Senators(11-10-2) who currently sit in 3rd in the Atlantic Division behind Toronto.

Head Coach Guy Boucher has been with the club since getting hired on May 8, 2016 when Ottawa failed to make the Playoffs.

He led the Senators to their first Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2015 where they lost Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Penguins.

Ottawa is 6-4 over their last 10 games.

Bobby Ryan leads the way with 10 goals. Mike Condon(10-9-2) will be in between the pipes.

San Jose will wrap up their trip in Canada with the Montreal Canadiens(10-10-3) who are right behind Ottawa and Toronto in the Division with 23 points.

Montreal is in a bit of a rebuild as they missed out on the Playoffs last year and lost in the First Round to the New York Rangers in 6 games.

The man behind the bench for Montreal is Claude Julien. The Head Coach who led Boston to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011 beating the Canadiens in the first round in Game 7.

Julien was hired Valentines Day of 2017 but the Canadiens lost in the Quarter Final to the Rangers.

Tomas Tatar leads with 10 Goals but the Captain Shea Weber anchors the blue line and Montreal has one of the best in the league between the pipes, Carey Price(9-9-2).

Las Vegas, NV- The last time the San Jose Sharks(15-6-3) and the Vegas Golden Knights(10-14-1) were on the ice together, the Knights were shaking hands with the Sharks after a Game 6 victory in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Round 2.

Tonight inside the T-Mobile Arena the rivals met for the first time this season.

And the Sharks were foaming at the mouth for this one.

"They had our number last year and knocked us out of the Playoffs. We were pretty amped up for this one so it was great to come in here and get a win." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer said.

Vegas opted to give Marc Andre Fluery some rest and started Rookie Rock Jacobs. It was a disaster as the San Jose Sharks took advantaged of the young 23 year old kid giving up 5 goals on just 12 shots.

"It was tough out there. San Jose will beat you every time if you make a mistake. I made plenty tonight and gave up 5 goals." Jacobs stated.

Vegas Head Coach Gerard Gallant knew he needed to make a change. He sent out Fluery down 5-0 midway through the second period. Flower came in and allowed 2 goals off 16 shots.

Gustav Nyquist, Logan Couture, Tomas Hertl, Rookie Tyler Adams, Joe Thornton, Evander Kane, and Timo Meier all scored for the Sharks as San Jose went up 7-0 which saw the Vegas fans boo their hated rivals.

                          Thornton scored his 400th goal.

William Karlsson scored. Colin Miller scored. Martin Jones had 26 saves and was 33 seconds away from his 5th shutout of the year.

The good news for Vegas is that they will be welcoming back Jonathan Marchessault tomorrow.

"It's been a rough one for us this year with the injuries and bad hockey. San Jose is just the best right now and they came in here and beat us. Still a lot of hockey left." Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant said.

"We're playing well right now and beating Division rivals. We're trying to win this Division and make the playoffs. That's the first goal." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer said.

San Jose(15-6-3) will head to the East Coast and meet the Buffalo Sabres(10-10-4) in New York.

The Sabres beat the Sharks 3-2 in Overtime on October 18 in the SAP Center.
