Will Bruin is starting to become a force with the national team. He and Allen should prove to be a dynamic duo looking forward.

Rough start in the Serie A...lets hope the chemistry builds!!

No joke, Will Bruin is a monster in this game. Its like he took the World Cup loss to Argentina personally, haha.

The weird thing about AC Milan is that they really seem a bit lost out there. We've struggled a bit offensively, but that's no excuse for the horrible play of the back line. Allen can't play defense too.

              AC Milan v. Galatasaray

              Champions League Group Stage

Turkey is a nation that takes extreme pride in its football. Unfortunately that passionate nation was left without a rooting interest in the World Cup as the national team failed to qualify in 2014. Maybe the most popular Turkish club team, Galatasaray SK could lift spirits in the UEFA Champions League as they played host to the struggling AC Milan.
The game began with Robinho starting in the ever rotating left wing position for Milan, and boy did he make the difference for the squad. His impact was felt immediately, as Robinho took the ball at the beginning of the match and rushed up the wing with a series of quick moves that allowed him to carve up the defense. Robinho would fake shot, and then send a through ball to Allen that he would finish easily for the 1-0 score in the 7'.
Felipe Melo would rally Galatasaray, psuhing them into Milan's back line as play resumed. Felipe Melo would give to a cutting Inan, but the ball was tackled away by de Jong in the middle. The counter attack was on, and de Jong would send a long one to El Shaarawy up the wing. He was all alone with the keeper Ceylan, and Ceylan came out strong and blocked the incoming shot by the Milan star, saving what would have been a crucial second goal. The restart was taken back by the Galatasaray midfield, but one could tell that they were hesitant to press forward as they were rightly worried about the speed of the Milan counter attack. Possession continued to be held by the home squad as passes floated from Amrabat to Inan and Inan to Altintop as they looked to find a weakness in the Milan side. Milan, however, would not be lulled to sleep by this tactic, as Boateng and Muntari went to work pressuring the ball wherever it went. Inan finally saw his chance, sending a through pass into the striker Yilmaz. Yilmaz would cut past Mexes only to be met head on by Acerbi would would get in front of the shot. The communication in the back was fantastic for once, as Galatasaray receive very few chances in the first half.
The second half was more of the same, as Galatasaray would control possession as Milan grew increasingly comfortable in the counter attack role. Something would have to give, and finally Milan made the mistake as Muntari missed a tackle on Altintop. The home squad pounced, and Altintop pressed forward, giving to Yilmaz up the wing. Yilmaz would cut inside past Didac into dangerous territory. The defense collapsed to help on that side, but Yilmaz send the pass back outside to a wide open Yildrim inside the penalty area. The finesse shot came off his foot, but it hit the post and bounced back right to the keeper Brkic. Yildrim rushed the shot, and was clearly upset with himself.
Brkic didn't allow for any delay as he rushed the restart, throwing the ball out to Muntari and the break was on. Milan sent numbers up and Galatasary would have no answer as the speed of the midfield pressed into their territory in a flash. Muntari would give to Allen, who would one time it to Robinho. Robinho would drive up the wing, then give and go with de Jong to get a step on the defender Sarioglu. Robinho sent in the cross, and Muntari found it, cracking a left footed volley from 16 feet out into to the upper left corner for the amazing goal that would put Milan up 2-0.
Galatasaray would try to flip the switch themselves, speeding up the tempo, but that was the exact style of play that Milan was looking for. Bad chances missed the target, and Milan would use their superior midfield to milk the clocks remaining seconds. The final whistle would sound, and AC Milan would take this first champions league match on the road.

                Summary:
Well it looks like Milan found the style of play that they were looking for. They look to counter attack with speed after their opponent comes too far forward. But what happens to that strategy when you face a team that is clearly over-matched talent wise? You get an ugly, slow paced match. It wasn't that Pescara didn't fall into the Milan trap game. It was that Pescara was just completely blown over by the talented team across from them. They held on to the possibility of a one point upset with all their might, and it wasn't until late that Milan manager Allegri finally pushed his side forward. Pescara was utterly overwhelmed, and late in the match Allen would slice through the back line off a nice pass from Boateng, then finishing with a slow rolling left footed shot up under the keeper for the goal and the win. This wasn't what Milan had in mind for their first league win, but they'll take it nonetheless.

                  Summary:
Another match day, another victory for the resurgent Milan side. Allegri has really tapped into his teams strength, biding time with his midfield and then rushing forward with speed up the wings with El Shaarawy and the ever rotating LW position with Pato at the spot this time. Milan got started with a 27' strike from young forward Allen, cutting back and sending a right footed bender past the outstretched arms of Neto for the quick 1-0 lead. From this point, Milan was content to wait out Fiorentina until they got reckless. Fiorentina survived for a while, but they soon fell into the counter attacking trap, missing wildly on bad shot attempts and making poor passing decisions. Milan pounced as Boateng would drive the ball forward to Allen, who would kick up to Muntari in the middle. Muntari would move up the wing, getting past defenders before sending a cross to El Shaarawy in the middle. He would head the ball over to Allen, who would one time it home into the back of the net. El Shaarawy would get a goal of his own in the 87' from Muntari, and the rout was complete. Milan blows out Fiorentina at home, 3-0.

                      Summary:
Milan seems to have found their rhythm as they easily dispatched Sampdoria in a game that was never close. AC Milan seems to have no shortage of squad members ready to step up, and this time it was Emanuelson starting at the left wing position getting others involved and converting chances of his own. The first would come in the 35' after a long build up by the Milan side. Muntari would find a gap and send a lob pass into the awaiting Emanuelson inside the box. He wouldn't miss as they took and early lead. Milan would sit on their lead, making it hard for Sampdoria to gain possession. Late in the match off of a bad pass, Milan would send forward the counter attack led by Allen. He would slow the pace down in the middle, milking the clock for more time. After the long buildup De Sciglio would find himself with the ball wide. He would send the ball to the middle where Boateng would send in a long arcing shot that went into the net. Emanuelson would add another goal late in the 88' to close out the game. Milan is on a roll, winning 3-0.

Months blurred by me. My life was no longer about just sports. It became a whirlwind of marketing. My face was literally everywhere in the United States and abroad. A.T. became my business manager and he took my image to the next level. We changed my outward appearance to look more “street.” Nike came in with a multi-million dollar deal aimed at marketing my brother and me in the urban areas around the world. They said they wanted every kid that dribbled a basketball or dribbled a soccer ball should have Nike’s on their feet. Billboards of my face were everywhere. I became a very, very rich man. I sold the condos in Chicago and Reggio and bought a beautiful estate in the Milan countryside full of fantastic views of the rolling hills.
But I was miserable. I couldn’t shake the feeling of wrongness that was draped over me. I couldn’t even escape it when I was on the field. Blood money was all that I could think. I lay awake at night imagining Quinn falling backward as she was betrayed. I could see Leo there with that sad look on his face as he shot her, but it felt as if I was the one who had pulled that trigger. It was strange. It still kept that piece of paper that the crazy guy had given me at the funeral. I fingered it in my pocket from time to time, and eventually found myself carrying it everywhere. I couldn’t throw it away, but I couldn’t call the number either. Odd as it was, it made me feel somewhat at ease when I had it on me.
I found myself on my balcony one evening, and I watched as a lone car travelled up to my house. I went downstairs and as I opened the door, here came Leonardo Valente striding towards my door as always with a couple bodyguards walking in step. I hadn’t seen Leo in quite some time as he was working vigorously in reestablishing control over his various enterprises that Vinny had wrestled from his control, but form what A.T. had told me, they were almost in control of all the previous assets he had before. I didn’t say a word as I motioned him inside to sit in my grand living room area.
                        “Nipote,” he smiled.
“Don’t call me that, Leo. I can’t anymore.” I sighed.
“I understand,” he stated. The silence was awkward for a moment. “Well, to business then.”
“Alton handles all of that now with my agent Gus,” I stated bluntly. “You could’ve called them.”
“No Alvin, this is other business.”
I sighed. “I’m not working for you anymore, Leo.”
“No, you’re not, but someone is trying to say that you do.” Leo pulled out a newspaper and handed it to me. It was a Chicago newspaper called the Chicago New-Times. It was dated earlier in the week, and the page he had turned it to was buried deep within the paper in a small article. The title ran “Mysterious Death of Sports Agent Possibly Linked to Italian Mafia” by a Gabrielle Anthony. I read through the article quickly as it detailed Theodore Williams’ early life as a Chicago thug to his rise to power as a sports agent. Small paragraphs seemed to not so subtly hint that I was involved in some mysterious dealings with him, and that his abrupt end in a mugging in Rio had come after a strange series of business dealings that were rumored to be mob related. A lot of it was conjecture and guesswork, but this author was closer than she thought. I handed the paper back to Leo.
                        “Nice article,” I said.
He took the paper and then handed me a file. “Gabrielle Anthony fancies herself as an investigative reporter, but after digging around we found she is little more that a glorified mail room clerk. We’ve been watching her and she just won’t let this story go. She thinks that this will propel her career. She’s digging Alvin, and eventually she’s going to find something. We’d just kill her but, well, that would only arouse more suspicion.”
I instinctively went to touch the piece of paper in my pocket. “So what do you need me for?” I wondered.
“Alvin, she knows your involved with us somehow so we’re going to give her what she wants,” Leo smirked.
                        “What?” I said. “I don’t get it.”
Leo continued, “I need you to run interference for me. Give her bits and pieces, but eventually you’re going to have to convince her it’s a dead end. Lord knows we don’t need a reporter ruining things for us now when we’re so close.”
I raised an eyebrow, “Come again?”
Leo smiled, “Its nothing, Alvin. Just something the Apuzzo family and I are working on. Now, when you have your next International break, you’ll have a day in Chicago. A.T. will get a media day set up for you under the guise of a marketing gimmick with you returning home and what not. I’ll have my contact at the paper leak her the news that you’ll be in town. She won’t be able to resist the urge question you about Theo.” Leo seemed very satisfied with his plan. His associates and he walked to my door to leave.
I spoke up just before he walked out. “And if I refuse to do this? Will you threaten me just like Theo did?”
Leo was quiet for a while and the looked back at me. “No, nipote, I won’t have too. This time, it’s you who is in deep. You love this house, the cars, the magazines, the billboards, and especially the money. But what you are really afraid of is that if you are found out, you’ll be found with conspiracy to conceal a crime, or worse found guilty of murder. And if that happens you’ll lose the only thing that you have left in this world that you care about. You’ll lose soccer.”
And with that, Leo walked away. I didn’t realize my hand was in my pocket, touching that small slip of paper. I steeled my nerve. Next break, I’d be on a plane heading to Chicago to meet this reporter.

FC Schalke 04 v. AC Milan

                          Champions League Group Stage

Ominous clouds overhead drew closer to the stadium, and everyone wondered if the rain would hold off for the match between FC Schalke 04 and AC Milan. As both teams came to the center to determine possession, the first drizzles began to fall. By the time kickoff began, it was a torrential downpour. Wet, slow, sloppy play would have normally been the prediction for a match on this field, but this wasn't juts any match, it was a Champions league match.
Schalke began with strong play, beating back the strong Milan midfield with 5 midfielders of their own. Lewis Holtby was the ringleader of this group, pushing his side to try to convert an early goal. Didac was ready, intercepting a pass meant for Huntelaar, and off Milan went. Their pace was impressive as Didc quickly found Muntari. Muntari would see Allen breaking free and sent a long through ball behind the Schalke back line. Allen would get there first, take a couple steps, and send in a rocket left footer past the keeper for the early goal. Keeper Unnerstall screamed at the linesman, stating Allen was offside, but the flag stayed down and Milan took an early lead.
The rain continued to drench the field, but that didn't stop the pace from picking up again, as Schalke took it right back to Milan on the restart. Holtby would hit Draxler on the wing. He had a step on DeSciglio and sent in the cross. Huntelaar would climb over Acerbi, getting his head onto the ball. The spinning ball bounced off the post and barely crossed the line before Brkic could cover it up. It was a goal in the 21', and the game was now even.
Milan would manufacture several chances, but the back line led by Howedes played tough after the early goal. El Shaarawy would get the closest, sending a bending strike that just sailed wide of the target. The half would end with Milan seeming like they were getting the better of Schalke with possession and opportunities, but the score would remain 1-1.
The second half would begin with a long build up by Milan. Boateng would pass to Carmona, and Carmona would give it to Allen in the middle. He would sprint upfield, drawing a host of Schalke defenders with him. Allen would send the ball back wide to a sprinting Carmona on the outside portion of the penalty area. Carmona would send the ball in, but it would be deflected high off of a Schalke shin. El Shaarawy would find it on its way down, doing a jumping volley of the ball mid-flight. It would sail into the corner past the outstretch arms of Unnerstall for the 2-1 lead.
Another goal for Milan would once again be answered by Schalke in almost the same fashion as before. This time Holtby would find Fuchs who would cut past Boateng and send in a lob pass from about 27 feet out. This time the sub Barnetta would head it home with authority as Brkic never had a chance. Brkic would get up, yelling at his back line to shape up as Schalke celebrated their quick turnaround.
The grounds were quickly turning to mush, and finally it seemed as if play was beginning to falter due to the weather. Short passes skidded to abrupt halts on the field. The pssession became even as the play stalled in the midfield. As the game drew to a close, it seemed destined for a draw. El Shaarawy would give his team one last push as he took the ball past Hoger and found some space. He would give to Muntari just outside the penalty area. Allen called for the ball in the middle of the field, but the pass came up short as the centerback Dede would poke it away for Schalke in the 90'. He would outlet the ball to Barnetta on the left. As Barnetta brought the ball to the middle of the field, Milan looked like they expected the referee to blow the whistle. He did not. Barnetta, pushed forward with a nifty step over move that left de Jong in the dust. Barnetta would get loose all by himself, cutting into the penalty area and sprinting past Acerbi. Huntelaar was calling for the ball, but Barnetta didn't budge from his path. His right footed shot sprayed water everywhere, but the shot stayed true off his foot. Brkic just got a hand on it, but it wasn't enough to push it out as the ball would nail the corner of the net. What a goal and what a comeback for FC Schalke 04. Some players tried to yell at the referee to say he should've called for time, but ultimately Milan only has themselves to blame for a poor defensive showing. Milan drops 3 points to an ecstatic Schalke side, 3-2.

                            Summary:
Inconsistency has defined AS Roma's season so far. Either they have been eletric, or fallen flat on their face on the big stage. They would run into the same problem against AC Milan. Roma came out early dominating the game with the calm play of midfielder Bradley in the middle. He would spark the offensive surge that was Roma, as they dominated the ball for 63 percent in the first half. Bajon would get a chance to put his team up early, hitting a perfect ball toward the corner that Brkic barely reached in time with his fingertips to knock it away. Milan tried to hold strong as Roma continued to manufacture good chances, but Roma would finally break through just before the half. Pianic would cut past Mexes and send in a ball. Brkic would bat it away, but the rebound would fall right to Florenzi who would put it home. When the second half began, it was almost as if a completely different Roma team was on the pitch. Milan would press forward in a flurry, cutting easily through the Roma side with the speed of Robinho and Boateng. However, Milan ran into a wall named Stekelenburg who would not let his team be so easily beaten. El Shaarawy would get a wide open chance on net, but the keeper Stekelenburg would lay out full extension and knock the ball away. Allen would follow up on a headed shot on the ensuing corner, but Stekelenburg would react quickly, diving to put that one out as well. Even though the Roma backline was letting Milan have its way, the keeper was determined to bring a win home for his side. But it was not to be, as the late game hero Allen would make his presence felt. Muntari would find the striker on a through ball off a counter attack, No one would catch Allen as he turned on the jets for a one on one with the keeper. Stekelenburg charged out a little to late and Allen made him pay with a left footed strike to the bottom corner in the 79'. The game would end all tied up, but this was literally a tale of two halves as each team just couldn't pull out the win.

The match between Cagliari was billed as a battle of young stars. Alvin Allen and Victor Ibarbo share a lot of commonalities. Many pundits did not believe that the young American or the young Colombian players would be successful in Serie A, but both players have exceeded expectations greatly. On this day, two teams were playing, but all eyes were on the strikers to see how they would fare. Ibarbo got his chance early on as Thiago Ribeiro would find the big man inside on a lob pass that he would try to head home, but the ball just fell wide of the target. He would get another chance, this time with his foot. He would size up Brkic from outside the box on a feed from Darida. Ibarbo would take the shot, but it sailed over the net. That was the stroy of his day, as he was just a little off on his attempts all game. That wouldn't be the case for Allen. He would get his chance just before the half. El Shaarawy would hit Muntari on a through pass. Muntari would one time it to Allen and then put home a left footed roller into the corner. The game would end with Allen's goal remaining the difference, and AC Milan would take home the hard fought win 1-0 over Cagliari.

                                Summary:
Milan came home to face a Bologna team that didn't scare anyone. Maybe that was the problem, as Bologna took it to Milan from the opening whistle. They would score in the 17', as Gimenez would use the sweet give and go with Abero just outside of the penalty area to get him inside and push past a finesse shot that Milan keeper Amelia couldn't get to in time. Milan fell into the same trap that they usually used against their opponents as they panicked to get off shots to even up the match. Bologna would use this to their advantage, waiting out the Milan pressure and finally unloading a counter attack that saw Abero break free. He would move through the Milan side, fooling Mexes to find himself all alone. Amelia came out, but Abero fake shot left of the diving keeper and rolled the ball easily into the net. The match would end leaving Milan dumbfounded as they dropped 3 points to Bologna.
