Summary:
Alvin Allen has put this team on his back and is spurring Milan towards the Serie A championship. Another excellent performance by the American striker has them once again in top form over a very good opponent in Cagliari. Cagliari is racing for a spot in the Europa League next year as they were in 6th place at the start of the match. However, excellent effort by the Milan side kept the game out of their reach for most of the match. Allen would begin his effort with an early chance on the break from El Sharaawy, putting the ball just wide of the net after a bit of a push by Ariaudo made by lose his balance on the shot. Allen wouldn't miss his next opportunity, getting a feed from Muntari that he would one time home from just inside the penalty area with his right foot just before the end of the first half. The second half would see Allen once again on the break, but this time as Agazzi charged out from the net, Allen would send a ball across his front to a wide open El Shaarawy for the sweaty goal in the 49'. The match was controlled by Milan for the most part as the back line limited chances by Sau up front, allowing them to record another well deserved clean sheet. Milan racks up another win, but Juventus continues their dominance at the top of the table with another victory, blowing out Palermo. Only 4 games remain in the season, with Milan hanging tough in second place.

Summary:
Reggina came into Milan in the race to try to avoid relegation. But make no mistake, Reggina had been a tough team all year and had proven it by making it to the Copa Italia final. Milan would be facing them down the road in that championship, and Reggina will hope that this match would just be a bad memory and not be a sign of things to come in the final. Things started poorly for them as Allen got Milan on the board quickly with a header from an El Shaarawy lob in the 6' of the match. Then in the 12' Reggina's starting striker Comi went down with a broken ankle and would not return. That loss would be huge, as Reggina would only take one shot all game. While Brkic would get little action on the evening, the Reggina keeper Carvallo was working his tail off, making excellent save after save. Even after his great performance, wouldn't matter as Reggina just could not manufacture any offense whatsoever without Comi in there. Milan would coast to a victory over the struggling Reggina, 1-0. Only two games remain in the season.

Who will take the Serie A title?

The math was simple for Milan. Win the game, win the title. That was the message that Allegri spoke to his guys in the locker room before charging out onto the San Siro pitch in front of 80,000 screaming fans. This was what they had been waiting for all season, and now it was within their grasp. For one young superstar, this could be the springboard to greatness. In order to be recognized as one of the best, one had to win titles at the highest levels of the sport. Taking the Serie A crown would be a major accomplishment for Allen, and the excitement was written all over his face. Milan stormed the field excited for the chance to finish off this amazing run.
The trouble with their opponent was that Pescara had nothing to lose. They were no longer in danger of being relegated, and now they could focus their full attention on playing spolier to Milan's party. Make no mistake, this team had come into Milan expecting a victory and were willing to grab it by any means necessary.
In the backdrop of this match was the looming spectre of Juventus who were just about to being their match in in Rome against AS Roma. Juventus had a massive lead in goal differential, as the Champions League finalists had spent the last couple of months blowing out teams by multiple goals. In AC Milan's mind, it had to be a win, because any tie in points would all but assuredly be a victory for Juventus. The anthem was sung. The banners were waving. The fans began their chants. It was time for the match to begin.
Milan came out against their opponents in a flurry. El Shaarawy passed to Allen in the middle, who did the rest of the work, getting inside with strength and taking the early shot on goal. Lotfi was there, catching the ball agaisnt his chest and laying on it for some time. He then rolled it out to Capuano who started the possession football for his side. The strategy had been given away. Pescara was going to try to keep the ball for long possessions, baiting Milan to come after them. And come after them they did as Milan pushed forward with its midfield. Pescara midfielder Cascione capitalized on Milan's eagerness, taking a pass from Modolo and sprinting into Milan territory taking it right to Milan's exposed back line. Abate closed with constant as Cascione would find Vukusic wide open in the middle. Brkic would charge the striker and Vukusic took the right footed shot and put it past the keeper, but it was just wide of the net and over the back line for the goal kick.
Brkic would make a motion with his hands, basically yelling at his team to calm down and stay focused, and Milan would get back to business after that scary beginning. Smooth passing became their go to play, as Pescara struggled with proper spacing. Milan's front line were just to quick as Carmona and Allen rattled off a couple of shots respectively, but Lotfi managed to get there for both with great diving saves. Then just before the half as Milan controlled a long build up in Pescara's territory, a collective groan went up from the faithful of San Siro. A quick glance at the scoreboard showed what Milan fans had feared, Juventus had taken the 1-0 lead over Roma. The replays showed Matri doing what he does best, scoring a volley from a marvelous centering pass from Asamoah. The build up would crumble for Milan as Allen would put the ball over the crossbar on a wilde shot, and Milan would head to halftime with a 0-0 draw.

Would Milan choke the title away?

The second half saw Milan come out with the same panicky play as they had in the beginning, but this time the sloppiness was leading to turnovers. Milan became their own worst enemy, missing easy passes, taking poor shots, and taking too many chances. Pescara would capitalize as they began to take control of the possession statistics and really drove the ball into Milan's side for the first time all match.
It was time for Milan's defense to step up, and they played big. Acerbi had an excellent game in the middle, using his superior strength to push Vukusic off the ball and harrying all of the Pescara opportunities he could. He led by example, and the rest of the back line played with great intensity. A key moment for the defense saw a deflection end up right in front of Capriari just inside the penalty area. Brkic was caught out of position and Capriari's eyes must have lit up to see the wide open net. He would shoot, and just as his boot hit the ball Constant would appear out of nowhere, barely blocking the ball with his ankle. That would take enough off of it giving Brkic just enough time to make the diving save and keep the match at 0-0.
The clock was ticking on Milan's title hopes as it appeared that Juventus was in control of their match against Roma. Milan has still not been able to put together a successful attack in quite some time, and hope seemed to be running dry. The tension in the stadium was at its peak as the clock ticked into the 75'. Acerbi would clear the ball, and a misjudged ball by Modolo fell to Allen. El Shaarawy was free on the left, and Allen would find him with the lob through pass. He broke free as Capuano couldn't catch him so the Pescara defender did the only thing that he could do, take him out. He slid and tackled El Shaarawy just inside the box and he went down in a heap. The crowd screamed bloody murder and the referee blew the whistle and pointed to the spot...which was two feet outside the box. Allegri lost it on the sidelines, screaming for the penalty shot, but the referee continue to point that it was outside the penalty area. El Shaarawy would dust himself off to take the set piece, and the ball deflected off of the wall and was cleared away by Pescara. Pescara would take control, playing possession football and just tried to hold on for the draw. Milan tried frantically to get the ball back for one more possession.
Great players need defining moments. They go hand in hand. And now, more than ever, Milan needed their star to step up. Alvin Allen had given his all in this game. He had taken good shots, and he had taken bad shots. He had played good passes to teammates, and he had marked his opposition when dropping back to play help defense. Now Allen needed to do the one thing that he had not done his entire career. He needed his defining moment, and he needed it now.
He would get the opportunity late in the match. Vukusic made a mistake, trying to force the ball when there was nothing available. Abate would take it away, sending it forward to Carmona. In almost a repeat of the run by El Shaarawy, Allen found himself sprinting towards the net all alone. Carmona would lob it forward and Allen would get it in stride. He would take a quick glance at the linesman, and the flag stayed down. Capuano would try to keep pace, but the footrace was Allen's to lose. Capuano would slide, and Allen would sidestep and keep going. Lotfi charged out with his hands wide. Allen sized up the keeper and shot it with the inside of his left foot. The ball spun on its axis, curling past the outstretched arm of Lotfi would had guessed the right way. The ball looked wide, and then just before it went out, it bent. And what a glorious bend it was, sharply cutting towards the goal, barely skimming the post and heading into the net. Allen just stood where he was and put outstretched arms in the air, letting the collective celebarting of the Milan faithful wash over him. The 5 more minutes of actual game time were but a mere formality at that point. Milan would win the title and would take it in style 1-0 over a valiant effort by Pescara.

Thanks. Yeah it was a great ending, but I swear I was cursing up a storm when it looked like we were going to draw with lowly Pescara. It was a fun season and honestly one of the best experiences I've had with a video game.

Summary:
Milan's victory lap was completed with the burial of an over matched Reggina club. Alvin Allen knew this club well as he had played for Reggina for two solid years and had helped them achieve promotion. Now he wore the red and black of AC Milan and was not shy about helping demolish his former team. Reggina held on for as long as they could, even getting off a couple good shots at Brkic early, but in the 28' the game swiftly turned in Milan's favor. Allen broke free leaving Milan with a two on one. Allen would bait Carvallo into coming out and would then send the sweaty pass over to Abate for the easy goal. The duo was not done, as soon after in the 34', Allen would once again find Abate, this time over the top of the defense on a lobbed through pass that Abate would convert into the corner of the net for his second goal. Abate would complete his hat trick just 5 minutes later on an almost identical pass this time from Emanuelson. Abate would finish it off and get the hat trick in the 39'. Milan would play possession ball for the rest of the match as Reggina struggled to keep up with the Serie A champions. The team will be relagated to Serie B next season, but they will once again face Milan next season in the Italian SuperCup since Milan has won both titles. As the final whistle sounded, the Milan faithful were beside themselves. They were in 3 finals and got 3 pieces of silverware. What an end to an excellent season.

“I thought you took care of this!” Leo fumed as he threw the newspaper down on the conference table.
“I did, Leo…” I stuttered.
“You did?” the shorter man yelled upward at me as close to my face as he could get. “You took care of it by continuing a relationship with the person you were supposed to charm and ditch?”
I was silent. Alton and I were discussing how we would handle my offseason at Milan until Leo barged through the door in a whirlwind of anger.
“Do you realize what you’ve done? You are jeopardizing everyone connected to this operation! I knew you were hard up after losing Quinn, but a reporter…”
“Don’t you mention her name you murderer!” I screamed back at him.
Leo stopped short and glared at me. “I seem to remember a certain soccer star agreeing to move forward with our plans after that happened. You’ve got just as much blood on your hands as I do, Alvin, and when I need a problem fixed, you’re going to take care of it.
A.T. put a hand on my shoulder to calm me down, but I shrugged him off as my voice grew cold. “Don’t you ever mention her name to me again.”
“Fine, Alvin, but what do you suppose I should do about this Gabrielle? I have no choice but to kill her now.”
“No you won’t,” I replied as I paced the room to try to calm down. “With her inquiries into Theo’s dealings, people may suspect foul play. Let me have one more go at trying to convince her to back down.”
A.T then chimed in. “Besides, Leo, have you read this stuff? It’s far away from being anything that could remotely lead back to us.”
Leo finally sat down and gave A.T. and I a stern look. “You guys don’t yet realize the impacts of this do you? It’s not just about the exposure it could lead to with our corporation, but the PR hit you could take would be dire. Imagine one of the world’s most recognizable athletic families being connected to a drug lord like Theo Williams. ESPN would have a field day. You need to clean this up Alvin, or I will.”
“I understood Leo,” I sighed.
“Now, to business,” he continued as he walked to the projector in the room.
I sat down across from A.T. and waited for Leo’s newest demonstration. Leo powered on the machine and the presentation began on the far wall.
“I’ve gathered some slides for our new marketing campaign for A-81,” he said.
I looked shocked, “I thought that plan had been tabled.”
“It was, Alvin. My contacts told me about your reaction and time in the hospital. I know it was a private affair, but I want you to know we just want what’s best for you.”
“Or the product,” I quipped as I pointed at the giant A-81 pill on the screen. “Anyway Leo, what’s the plan now?”
“We’ve decided to refocus our branding efforts to teams with a new face,” Leo smiled as he clicked over to the next slide.
A giant picture of my brother Al Allen was on the screen. My mouth was agape.
“We were going to bring him in eventually, but your reaction to A-81 sped things along with our backup plan,” Leo said. “Our newest spokesperson for the mass market mental supplement A-81 is Allen “Triple A” Allen!”

The first mass market performance enhancing mental stimulant was coming to the market and it could not be stopped. G-Sop used all of their resources to try to hold up the inevitable. Investigations into the product were called, but it was nothing more than a delaying tactic in Geneeskunde eyes. Negative press reports were fed to some media members, but those reports were few and far between as NBA MVP “Triple A” Allen came out and publicly endorsed the product. A major athlete had come out and admitted to using a performance enhancing substance. Public opinion polls about this did not do much to hurt the athlete’s reputation. People figured if it was only a mental supplement and did not help enhance any physical ability, they were okay with its use. Apparently this opinion was also held by major sports leagues, as almost all approved its use except for Major League Baseball which was quick to dismiss most new supplements. A-81 was going to hit the market as soon as it could swim through the minor legal hurdles, beta-testing groups, and distribution details. If this was successful with “Triple A”, you’d better believe teammates and rivals would flock to use it as well.
Helms was continuing his work behind the scenes of G-Sop and had not contacted me in a couple of days. For the first time in a while, I was free to just focus on soccer. It was time to head back to the States to practice with the national team for our upcoming bid in the Copa America. The United States and Mexico had both been invited to the traditionally South American competition. Play would be intense against these world class teams, and I would need all the practice I could get before we flew down to South America. We were set to train in Columbus, Ohio, but before I headed there, I knew I had to head to Chicago to take care of one last piece of business.

“You lied to me!”
The petite woman had literally growled those words at me as I sat on the couch of her little studio apartment.
“Well, I…” I started.
“You told me that this Theo lead was a dead end. And I believed you!” she interrupted, “So what was the plan, Mr. Charmer, let you have a little and I’d forget all about that you had ties to the criminal enterprise of Theo Williams?”
I sighed to myself. This was going just about as well as the phone conversation had. That one had lasted about 5 minutes and ended with me being hung up on.
“Wait, Gabby, I have good reason,” I tried to say.
“What good reason could there be? Oh, I know, poor little soccer star would take a PR hit! Give me a break. You roomed with Vinny Valente who was also found mysteriously dead in Brazil where you played in the World Cup! What is going on Allen?”
“Keep your voice down,” I whispered. “You’re getting into dangerous territory, Gabby.”
“Oh, is that a threat?” she yelled.
“No, Gabby, I’m trying to protect you,” I tried to say.
“Well forget it, Alvin,” she said angrily. “Just leave. Tell your buddies that I plan on continuing my work, and that I will bury each and every one of you.”
“But Gabby I’m not with…”
“Get out of my house, Alvin, and don’t you dare contact me ever again.”
So that was that. I left her place and hopped a cab to O’Hare Airport. The entire ride there I spent lost in thought. How could I protect someone I cared about if they didn’t want me in their life? Leo was bound to find out that my talk with Gabby did not go well. I could only stall him for so long. With Helms and G-Sop focused on A-81, they were bound to be less than interested in a reporter who was actually helping their campaign by investigating Theo. Suddenly it dawned on me. Where had a minor investigative reporter gotten the leads to start to put together these connections with Theo, Valente, and me in the first place? I punched the seat in front of me in frustration as I put two and two together, garnering a disapproving look from the cabbie. G-Sop had their hands in Gabby’s work.

Copa America is Ready to Kickoff

The Copa America is about to begin, and the United States will enter the tournament as a sleeper pick for many to do some damage. After an impressive performance in the past years World Cup, the United States will look to build upon that showing by bringing back many of those same players that were in that competition. Young stars such as Shea and Gatt are now a year older and are expected to take on more of a leadership role as the old guard will look to pass the torch onward. Look for forwards Allen and Bruin to be a dynamic duo of goal scorers in this competition. Let's take a look at all those who made the trip to South America.
