Actually, I don't think it's a bad backup plan. If the big east is rejected by the schools they invited, where else do they turn ?

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Numerous rules would need to be changed for this and for that reason, I think/hope this gets stopped. This expansion stuff has been out of control already, but this is reaching a level of lunacy college football would never recover from.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
NCAA says you have to have 2 divisions. Can't have 4 divisions and 3 games to decide your CCG. Also, these teams would either need to play some of these games in Hawaii or they'd all need to start scheduling 11 games instead of 12.
I suppose the NCAA could allow all this, I just hope they don't and it gets folded.Comment

I just don't think 1/4 of the teams should be in 1 division...Football: Denver Broncos
Baseball: Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs
Hockey: Allentown Phantoms
NCAA: The College of William and Mary Tribe
William and Mary Class of 2018!Comment

From Mizzou2SEC Facebook Page:
UPDATE: The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star are both reporting the same thing today... That Missouri is headed for the SEC, and that an announcement making it official is coming this week! What a week for Missouri if the Cards win the World Series and Mizzou gets into the SEC!Football: Denver Broncos

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The pods would have just been for scheduling purposes. Hypothetically, the NW schools would've been one pod, the California schools another pod, but they all would've been one division. The pods would've just been to insure you played the other 3 in your pod and then 3 of the other 4 in each of the other 3 pods. There would not have been a 3 game CCG where the 4 pod winners play. Maybe someone would've like to have had it and would've appealed to get the rule changed, but without a rule change, nothing really would've changed, would've been PAC-8 in one division and the new 8 in the other.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Lots of smoke about WVU being invited to the Big 12 as #10 shortly after Mizzou's impending departure for the SEC.
I think the real question is whether the Big 12 elects to just select WVU and stay at 10 teams or if they expand to 12 (adding Louisville and Cincinnati/BYU).Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I don't really see why the Big XII would feel the need to go to 12 without Missouri, but if they have Missouri, they're content at 10. I just don't see them going beyond 10 in the foreseeable future. If they bring in WVU to replace Missouri, it probably actually upgrades the conference, imo. I think WVU is a better program, though it may or may not bring in as many tv sets. Maybe they look at going to 12 in 2014 or 2015. Their ESPN deal lasts through the end of the '15-'16 school year. Adding two more teams and a conference championship game would probably bring them a higher price tag on their new contract. But until then, I just don't see why'd they do it. Why add two teams to share in the pie? At 10 teams, they all get bigger shares and more money.Comment
