I doubt Florida would go for that

    nor would Georgia

Money talks. Plus, if FSU and Clemson leave, the ACC might be up the ****ter, so Miami wants to get out before the ship sinks, so to speak. That ACC ship is unlikely to actually sink, but it will be wounded and won't be what it once was if the aforementioned happens.

17m in the ACC, or possibly approaching 30m in the Big12. Hmmm...

Edit: That said, the Big12 should look carefully at Miami. They might have some tough penalties coming down the pipe and the Big12 wouldnt want a SMU type situation happening.

UTA is heading to the Sun Belt, according to Twitter, so bye bye WAC.

If the WAC does break up, would Boise and SDST go back to the MWC? Removing them from the equation, here's a team by team comparison.

              Football Only:

              Air Force > UL
              Colorado State < Rutgers
              New Mexico > Memphis
              UNLV < UCF
              Wyoming > Temple
              Fresno State > UC
              Nevada < Rutgers
              Hawai'i > UCONN
              San Jose State < SMU
              Utah State < Houston

              BE also has Navy.

However, if you look at the benefits Boise and SDSU receive for non-Football sports, I think the MWC makes more sense. Boise will be homeless for Basketball, and SDSU will be in the mediocre Big West.

I think it was last week that Boise said they wont go back to the MWC. They are looking at the Big West (with the help from SDSU) for all other sports.

I forgot about that. Still, Boise jumps around enough I don't know if that metters.

I'd disagree with you on a few of those. Air Force isn't as good of a program as Louisville, New Mexico and Memphis is a push, and I'd take UConn over Hawaii.

I mean, if we want to bring money into it, UVa has the 20th largest endowment of all high-level learning institutions in the country; a brand-new HUGE multipurpose arena (the John Paul Jones Arena), a solid and large college football stadium (Scott Stadium's capacity - 61,500 - is one of the largest in the ACC, equal to Soldier Field, and larger than University of Phoenix Stadium); the athletic department is in the process of building a $13M indoor practice facility for the football team; and UVa is one of the few athletic programs in the NCAA to turn a profit, and actually was the most profitable athletic program in the ACC during FY 2010-11. The state of football program at Virginia, though improving, simply does not matter as to their viability for inclusion in a new conference.

To reiterate, though I'm not worried about what will happen to Virginia, I'd rather have them in a viable ACC than elsewhere. I like the ACC.

I've heard from a few people that Georgia Tech to the Big 12 is getting to be a pretty serious possibility. I'm starting to think the ACC is going to get gutted like we thought the Big 12 would last year. Consolidation is coming.

So the new ACC will be the old Big East and the new Big East will be the old CUSA.

Well the endowment doesn't matter so much for conference alignment. I don't think any conferences share endowment funds.

As for revenue, yeah UVa would manage to be around the middle of the Big Ten, which is more than almost any other school in the ACC.
