Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I wonder if all this would be happening if the ACC never allowed Notre Dame to join, but not for football. It signifies that the conference is desperate. I remember listening to the interim Big 12 commissioner in Ivan Maisel's podcast and he asked about the possibility of Notre Dame, and Neinas scoffed at the idea of Notre Dame joining but not in football. I kind of mocked the idea of any conference allowing Notre Dame to dictate terms like that to them. Outrageous exit fees and adding Notre Dame without football is the sign of a conference that is broken and paranoid. It would stand to reason that several of the schools are angered by this and don't want to be a part of it anymore. Money is undoubtedly part of it, but I have to think it's hardly the only reason, maybe not even the biggest.Comment

I don't understand why the Big 10 wants Maryland and Rutgers. What exactly do they bring to the table? They had a chance to bring on Missouri and bailed on that, Missouri is a better athletic school than Maryland is and Rutgers is, well, Rutgers, a team in a big market that nobody cares about at all.
It just seems as though there are a lot better options that make some sense geographically. Iowa St, Kansas, K-State, UConn, etc. Not that Iowa St. is that great in football or bball right now, but neither is Maryland. KU, K-State, and UConn are all very good in bball right now and K-state is top 25 football program.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Honestly, how does something like this happen? like out of the blue, all of a sudden, bam Maryland Rutgers in the Big10? in the middle of a season! The Big10 is supposed to be a midwestern conference! Rutgers and Maryland are in coastal states!! Was the Big10 even in talks with these schools last week or the week before? from my perspective, it is completely embarrassing how conferences are selling out. blows my mind how stuff like this can happen.Comment

The one unwritten rule about the B1G is that all the states that house these schools have to be touching at least one state that has a school already, which would open up NJ and MD.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
PSU is 300 miles inland. it is not near the coast like Rutgers or Maryland. you just completely made up that unwritten rule lmao. the conference was perfect at 11 teams. it made sense. nothing about this makes any sense. not Nebraska and definitely not Rutgers and Maryland. what a joke.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
If Maryland leaves, I'd guess either Notre Dame or UCONN to the ACC, so they could benefit from this.Football: Denver Broncos
Baseball: Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs
Hockey: Allentown Phantoms
NCAA: The College of William and Mary Tribe
William and Mary Class of 2018!Comment

I don't know how I feel about Maryland and Rutgers yet. Maryland has a year every now and then where they are good, and Rutgers seems to be an improving program.
I don't think any of the Big 12 teams would leave right now, but I would rather take Louisville then Maryland. Makes much more sense geographically and they're improving in both football and bball.Comment

Maryland Basketball brings a plate to the table in the Big Ten.
Maryland Football doesn't bring **** to the Big Ten.
Just thought I'd clarify that for people.#RespectTheCultureComment

I liked the addition of Nebraska actually. I like having the CC game, plus Nebraska is a quality football school.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I can see Clemson leaving, but FSU has been so stupid in the last year. Unless there is some extremely secret talks going on, FSU will be stuck in the ACC.
Also, I don't think there is anyway that ND joins the ACC fully. They may be playing for a championship, if they win it, how can a conference match their money from NBC?Comment
