Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
That is why I don't get why Florida State is so hot and heavy to get to the Big 12. The TV money is pretty close to the Big 12 in the ACC and they are looked at as an equal. Yeah, the NC schools make a lot of decisions, but they share the money equally. Texas has and will be the big dog and has their own network, despite the state of it. Texas will continue to have a major money advantage, no matter how good FSU is on the field.Last edited by cdawg44; 11-27-2012, 02:45 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

West:
UTEP
Tulsa
Rice
UTSA
North Texas
Louisiana Tech
East:
Marshall
FIU
UAB
UNC-C
So Miss
Old Dominion
A few things I noticed about this lineup:
1. The East has some dark times ahead. The best teams left in this conference are Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, and Rice, all of whom are in the West. The best team in the East is Marshall, by far. That's kinda pathetic.
2. This conference features 3 teams that weren't FBS-level before they were invited to C-USA, and 2 teams that didn't have a program before they were invited. C-USA is REALLY desperate.
3. The divisions have a nice little geographic split right at the Louisiana-Mississippi border.Texans - Cougars - Astros - Rockets - Dynamo - Chelsea - LightningComment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I have no problem with the rest of your post, but I can't see C-USA bringing in SHSU or Lamar. They probably have as big of a piece of the Houston market as they're going to get in the form of Rice. Plus, Lamar is still pretty much a brand-new program. They haven't even gone through a full Freshman class since they've had football. I think they try to find a running partner for FIU (maybe FAU?) before they go with a Houston-area FCS team.Texans - Cougars - Astros - Rockets - Dynamo - Chelsea - LightningComment

I still prefer the B1G with the ACC second. I guess the Big XII is better than staying in the BE."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

"Carolina is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference and we believe the ACC is the finest conference in the nation. The ACC has been our home for nearly 60 years and we want it to be our home for another 60 years at least. Our speculating on what other league may be better for the Tar Heels would not be productive. We are part of a great league with a strong future and we know that the ACC leadership is serious in its efforts to strengthen the conference and position it for long-term success."
"All of us in the ACC, including the league office and individual schools, continue to carefully monitor the changes that take place in conference alignment. But again, we are proud members of a great league and are looking forward to many more years of success in the ACC by the Tar Heels and other ACC schools."Comment

Trust, if UNC wanted out, they'd already be gone. Big 12, SEC, B1G would all be head over heels to have them in the fold. UNC deeply cares about the ACC and its future and its central to its culture. UNC will do everything in it power to protect the ACC and the Duke/UNC rivalry. Even if the ACC falls apart, there will be a space for them because of everything it brings to the table."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush
