Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
This is not exactly true. The 76% number is only true with the Tier 2 television rights. As UT and OU spend much more time on Tier 1 stations than any other Big XII schools, they likely stand to benefit from this just as much as schools that don't appear on Tier 2 as often, like Iowa State and Kansas. This percentage increase hurt the middle/upper Big XII programs, like Okie State, A&M, and Mizzou, to help those at the bottom as well as the top.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Nebraska didn't leave for just revenue sharing. They left because they are a near-elite program and they were treated like Texas' manservant. Nebraska didn't like how conference headquarters were moved to Texas, and the Championship Game was moved to Dallas. And the talk of the Longhorn Network was there before Nebraska left.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
interesting..when it is pointed out that Nebraska was an original proponent of the revenue sharing that Huskers now complain so much about, the argument shifts to other excuses
They left because they are a near-elite program and they were treated like Texas' manservant.
Texas didnt force the Huskers to fire Solich or to hire coaches like Callahan. Nebraska can blame their fall to mediocrity on whomever they want, but they ran their program like crap in the 2000s
Nebraska didn't like how conference headquarters were moved to Texas, and the Championship Game was moved to Dallas.
fyi, the Big 10 championship game is not going to be in Nebraska either. It will be in Indianapolis (which ironically is 7 miles further from the Huskers than Dallas is according to googlemaps)
And the talk of the Longhorn Network was there before Nebraska left.Last edited by ZB9; 08-24-2011, 03:58 PM.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Please explain this, because since the start of the conference every team has had the right to start their own network if the wanted to. How did NU leaving make the LHN a possibility, when UT could always do it and it is well documented that they had been working towards it for years?Comment

TAMU might be trying to copy Texas and gain similar leverage by threatening to leave, but of course the Aggy's don't carry the same cacheComment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
I remember hearing a lot about Texas getting a network before Nebraska left. They were already looking into it. It was probably sped up, but I remember hearing the Pac 12 was going to let them have their own network if they joined. I'm sure Texas didn't decide to have a network and to have it launch in 14 months. This had already been in the works.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
It's not me being arrogant. I am an Arkansas fan living in SEC HQ (B'Ham) who doesn't have a lot of love for Bama. I respect Nick Saban quite a bit, but not a Bama fan. Oklahoma lost it's two best linebackers, unfortunately. I think the proper statement the gentleman should have made was I hope we get past FSU.
At the moment I am hoping Arkansas can get to Bama before their new QB's get it on track. That's the only thing holding Bama back in my opinion, that and possibly their pass rush.Comment
