Do you think aTm comes in by themselves? If not, who comes with them? I doubt SC would approve Clemson coming in and UF would try to block FSU as well IMO. -

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Man, some of you guys have some real thin skin. This is OS rule 101. If you are gonna call out someone openly or make posts like "time to chuckle at these posters"...be prepared for some good natured crow eating if they turn out to be right.
All I said was that it was happening. Turns out it is.
Most likely, A&M will be the only addition for one year from what the folks in the know seem to say.
Clemson, FSU, Va Tech, Mizzou...those are the most likely targets for a 14th..or hell..they might even go ahead and move to 16.
I'm wondering how they'll do conference schedules with uneven divisions. 7 in the West, 6 in the East in 2012.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Why does the SEC need 14? The MAC rolls with 13 (Granted, they're adding UMASS soon). Honestly the MAC is close to becoming a 16 Team (Not overly) Super Conference, seeing as Appy and JMU would need a conference to move up...Football: Denver Broncos

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
ESPN came in and put Texas on par with the SEC, not the Big 12-2.
FOX renegotiated their deal with the Big 12-2, after the schools came back together. All ESPN did for the Big 12-2 was agree to honor the current Big 12 contract, then they signed a deal with Texas and started undermining that Big 12 contract.
Tell me, if Texas will be the big boy, no matter what conference they are in, how come the PAC wouldn't "let" them have the LHN?
I'm not arguing Texas' value to a conference, but they won't get half of the benefits they enjoy in the Big 12-2 if the went to another confrence.
The fox contract is split equally among the schools and 76 percent of revenue is shared equally amongst schools up from 57%.
I think you need to get your information correct. The Big 12 splits revenue more equally than ever before.
That is wrong. ESPN didn't do anything but agree to honor the deal that was already in place, and then sign an exclusive deal with Texas.
It was FOX, as I said in my response and was said in the article that you linked, that renegotiated their deal with the Big 12.
By the way,
UPDATED INFO AVAILABLE: Kristi has posted an updated breakdown of the television contracts on ESPN.com (5/10/12). My search for details on all of the current...
Big 12: $150 mill/10 teams = $15 mill avg. per school.
SEC: $205 mill/12 schools = $17.08 mill per school
PAC 12: $250 mill/12 schools = $20.8 mill per school
B1G 10: $212 mill/12 schools = $17.6 mill per school
Because of the uneven revenue sharing the top Big 12 teams will see money close to the SEC & B1G 10, but the conference avg. is still less. The PAC is now way ahead & I believe current projections have the B1G 10 doing better than what's shown.
While the Big 12-2 does split revenue more equally than when it was the Big 12. The other three top conferences all split their revenue equally. On top of that, they are all growing, while the Big 12-2 is shrinking. So which one is the better business model?Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Lee Ziemba, as jon mentioned, had Aubies for parents. They were working for a Wal-Mart vendor, if I am correct, and Wal-Mart requires all vendors to have a rep in Bentonville. At least they did then. Kodi Burns was friends with Lee and also didn't want to sit behind Mustain - though we all know what happened there.
Same for Dyer - as good as he is, he would just now be getting decent playing time due to Davis being hurt.
Frazier - I am not going to say that he wasn't wanted, but Malzhan's system was the huge reason he went to Auburn. Brandon Allen was a better fit for Petrino's system. The kid didn't throw a single interception last year. Even for high school that is quite an accomplishment for someone who threw 38 TD's. Allen was the more wanted of the two. Besides, you've got Mallett there and then you have to wait through two years of Tyler Wilson? No, I don't blame him for going to Auburn. It's a better fit and he already knows the offense.
BTW - another thing to think about, Houston Nutt didn't call Burns or Ziemba once - at least not with the Arkansas issued cell phone for his own personal use (see cell phone scandal), the same one he called Miami in regards to their job opening in late 06 or early 07. Houston Nutt is the reason Clarence Houston went to Tennessee, Harold Horton went to Alabama, DeAngelo Williams went to Memphis(WTH!?!?!?) and many other 4* and rare 5* prospects left the state. Heck, he wanted to make Mallett a TE! No wonder he went to Michigan, even though Mustain had already left by signing date. How in the world we kept Peyton Hillis or McFadden I'll never know. They must have been hardcore Hog fans growing up.
Petrino is keeping most of the in-state guys. Some guys won't say or get recruited and will go elsewhere. At the same time we are making in-roads to Arizona and California, getting more players from Texas and Florida and getting more from Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. Thanks to new rules allowing spring prctice in Arkansas our players are being listed more and more in the Rivals, Scout and ESPN recruiting lists. The proof being the above mentioned players as well as what's on the Razorback's depth chart. Bequette, Childs, Adams, Wilson, Dennis Johnson, Gragg, Jarius Wright and several of the offensive line - all are from Arkansas. In the SWC days half the team would be Texans.
We'll continue to lose a stray recruit here and there, but at least we keep most of who we want.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
What exactly was wrong? The PAC 12 was in play until the ESPN swooped in and stopped it from happening by keeping the value of the television contract the same?
He indicated that A&M would be pursuing the SEC before they agreed to go back to the Big 12 after the revised television deal.
He also reported correctly that Nebraska and Colorado would be leaving and that Missouri basically started this mess by looking at the Big 10.
The only reason A&M is leaving is that they are annoyed about the LHN Network.
What exactly has he been wrong about?Comment

"When Colorado and Nebraska left the conference last year, they paid about half of what the Big 12 could have contended they owed upon leaving the conference, and Texas A&M would like similar treatment, the source told Schad." Saw that in the ESPN article. Just wondering, why would the Conference agree to do that? How does a cheaper buyout benefit the Big XII?I bleed Garnet and Gold. In The 'Slim Reaper' We Trust. Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
"One Big 12 administrator said there continues to be interest in gauging Arkansas' potential interest in joining the Big 12 - in what would essentially be a trade between the two leagues - and that BYU remains a potential target." From Chip Brown's article
Had to laugh at that...Not a chance in hell Arkansas leaves the SEC to get back in a conference with Texas. That comment makes no sense at all. Aside from that, very exicted to possibly having A&M in the SEC. We needed a true rival for a long time.
Back OT, like ^^^ you said, we ain't coming. There isn't enough Vaseline in the world to make up for the pain of being back in a conference with Texas. Were I AD Jeff Long I would roll some impossible stuff out there. I mean like A&M's total departure fee/conference share AND an even stake with Texas every year after that. Not gonna happen, but that's what it would take.
Oh, and make the Big 12-3 pay the state's bill for calling out the National Guard, because the campus in Fayetteville would be looking a lot like this if we joined:

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
This, plus the Big 12 bylaws are so badly written, the Big 12-2 wasn't sure they could win a lawsuit, and NU & CU would have walked away for free. The NU president even said, that he thought NU shouldn't have to pay anything and he wished he could see what a court would say. However, it was easier and cleaner to settle and be done with it.Comment

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter
Big 12 is done for.
All teams should look at other conferences.
OU and OSU will be fine as I'd imagine any conference would love to get OU, and OSU gets to tag along with OU.
Texas will be fine because they can go independant now for all they care.
I have no idea what will become of Tech, Baylor, Kansas, K State, Missouri and Iowa State though.
The super conferences will probably start up soon.
Side statement - SEC adds WVU, A&M, Mizzou and the conference has the highest ratio of rednecks and hillbillies in any organization besides the Future Farmers of America. Think about it: LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, OSU OU, A&M, Missouri, Auburn, WVU, Georgia, Tennessee - that's an episode of Hee Haw and a mullett convention waiting to happen!
